•29/04/24• Done with the fourth book and it was even better than the third one. This series is getting better and I hope it continues to do so 😍 This one was filled with twists and turns, and I didn’t see any of the plot twists coming which made my ADHD brain happy hehe 😄 I love Sophie and her friends, and the rest of the characters, even the messy ones. They all seemed to have a sort of depth and no-nonsense personalities. Hoping to read the fifth book soon and see how mentally exhausting it is 🥲✌🏾 4/5 🌟

How The King Of Elfhame Learned To Hate Stories by Holly Black I loveddd this book!! It was so enjoyable and it was interesting to read about Cardan and from his pov not Jude’s. 📚 Indepedent Bookstore Day 📚 We geared up for IBD by going to a local spot for brunch and then hitting them bookish streets. 🤓 Our first stop was obviously @lions_mouth_bookstore. We absolutely love that store, the workers, the owners, the atmosphere, everything. AND they now sell coffee! Whaaattt. We also ran into our pal @ashleysparkle there, too. 🥰 One year ago today, Cole had their very first book event there. Also, a year ago March 31st, this is where we eloped. During business hours. 🥹 Our second and final stop was @bookstopgb. Cole loves going there to find the classics, like Morrison and Baldwin. Alisha loves going there to find Slaughter and the book she was named after, Savage Ecstacy. (True story.) Naturally we bought books. We got our Midwestern map. (Also if anyone wants to get rid of the east coat map, Cole will gladly take it for their Bookstagram wall.) Book haul coming later. What did you score today?

Aside from Carrigan’s by Helena Greer, Fern Falls is right where I want to be. Morgan, Rachel, Adam and Ben (and the rest of the crew) are characters you just want to hang out with. Relatable. I highly encourage you to pick up In The Event of Love then In the Case of Heartbreak. You will not be disappointed. 🩷

Es handelt sich dabei um eine High Fantasy Geschichte, die neben einer verbotenen Liebe und süßen tollen Drachen auch Spannung und Drama mit sich bringt! Also genau die richtige Mischung, die ein gutes Buch braucht! Inea ist eine tolle Protagonistin, die selbst tätig wird und das System in dem sie lebt hinterfragt - als Arven trägt sie Drachenmagie in sich und kann mit diesen Wesen kommunizieren 🐉 Eamon ist der Held und für mich persönlich auch der Träger der Geschichte. Der tragische Held, der eine Entscheidung trifft, die ihm wortwörtlich das Leben kosten wird… Die Dynamik zwischen den beiden hat mir unfassbar gut gefallen - und ich habe richtig mit den beiden mit gefiebert! Das Buch hat mich total überrascht und eingenommen, so dass ich gar nicht mehr aufhören konnte zu lesen! Warum einen halben Flamingo weniger? Ich hätte mir zu Beginn der Geschichte etwas mehr Ruhe gewünscht um dort anzukommen 💕 In allem ist Funkenmagie ein Buch, dass man als Fantasy-Leser*in gelesen haben sollte! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 by Susan Dennard No 💀 rating! The Luminaries is objectively bad. It has poor writing, a paper-thin premise and a lacklustre love interest... and I loved every minute of it. If you liked Teen Wolf, Twilight, or any CW shows... you might just enjoy the lukewarm chaos that is this book. There's three main mysteries: what is the whisperer, who is the werewolf, and why did/ how Winnie's dad did what he did? None are answered, except that there's a three word note from Winnie's dad at the end *spoiler* I was framed. Imagine Twilight if Bella knew that vampires exist but didn't figure out who at the school was a vampire by the end of book 1. That's this book. The main character 'clicks' her teeth constantly, and one of her friends pops his gum. Not only are we told they do that, but several times, a scene will be interrupted with "pop. pop. pop." or "clicks teeth. •Friday• - what’s everyone reading? I haven’t had time to read for the past three days, but today the weather is beautiful so I’m hoping to read a lot 😍

🛣️Spring is here so I’m going to be taking a ton of photos with the new plants in bloom. 🛣️If you saw someone on the side of the road that needed help, would you stop? This is actually really tricky for me to answer. I would want to help them but safely because I’ve seen too many horror movies and listened to too many murder stories. 🛣️Murder Road Review: This book had all the making of a great murder mystery with a mix horror. A ghost making people kill what’s not to love? With a very predictable twist that I called halfway through the book and my husband didn’t approve. But don’t fret, I love #simonestjames books so much. That I’ll continue to read them consistently as they come out. When April and Eddie are driving to their honeymoon, they make an unexpected turn the wrong way and end up on the murder road. A road designed to kill hitchhikers on their way to someplace else. They have to solve the murder of the poor girl they picked upon the side of the road. Will they be able to solve it though? This one was slightly predictable. I got annoyed with the main character, April. She has all this weird legal background because of her mom but didn’t realize she could call a state appointed lawyer. A ton of stuff is happening incorrectly with the police, yet they don’t know enough to call them on it? It was very annoying. I tried to keep an open mind that they just didn’t know or want to know. They kept to themselves and didn’t even think of researching some of this information. It was so easy for the couple to solve the murder that the cops couldn’t? I mean. Common. Again, I will continue to read #simonestjamesbooks but this one was annoying at times. Wow...just WOW!! I am so glad I received ARC's of this trilogy By @jennilynnwyer because MY GOODNESS this was AMAZING!! ‼️Do check trigger warnings before reading‼️ Hendrix, Tristan and Constantine are the MMC'S and Synthia is the FMC. The first two books in this trilogy ends on a cliffhanger but of course the third book ends in an HEA!!🫶 I loved everything about these books. It's a mix of romance-suspense, dark college romance, why choose, touch her and 💀, enemies to lovers, so many secrets and scars and spice🔥🌶️ My favorite character is Constantine. One Of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose I absolutely loved this book omgg!!! It was so good and when I tell you my jaw dropped at that ending!!?? I hadn’t really read a good mystery/thriller like that in a while so it was nice to get back into it. With these kinds of books, I think the way it’s executed is one of the most important parts, and it was done really well. Definitely one of the reasons this was so enjoyable to me. All of the characters had a personality and it was never boring. I also liked the chapters in the present in jenny’s pov kind of having her retell the story and everything. This book reminded me of pretty little liars and gossip girl because of the synopsis (i haven’t watched any of them). it’s kind of like mean girls too now that i think about it but with grown women. It was fun to see those chapters and the story come together at the end. I 100% recommend this book!! This was also one of my top reads of 2023! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 . . . . . . Writing a review of this book was a delightful challenge, mostly because I didn’t want to spill any beans while sharing my honest views. 🙊 To start with, let me just tell you, the synopsis doesn’t even begin to do justice to the story. It’s a story of an ambitious woman struggling to keep her life from imploding, which is a good enough story. 💎 All the characters range from unlikeable to despicable. The MC is somewhere in between. 💎 I found Bea’s narcissism and ruthlessness very fun. Her single minded focus at destroying whoever threatens her well-laid plans is the crux of the story. April has been a great reading month for me so far. The fifth book I finished this month was The City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty which I’m giving 4.25 stars. The story definitely had a very interesting premise, an enchanting magic system I wanted to understand better while reading, and captivating world building. The characters were interesting too, but they didn’t all pull me in from the start and it took me a little to get into things (also some confusion I brought upon myself with assumptions I made). I 100% plan to continue the series, but I can’t really say there were too many scenes that stuck with me or made me gasp or react. The ending was very surprising to me though and the epilogue left me wanting more (in a good way). Last thing: Since I listened to it as an audiobook, there was a part of a podcast. At first I thought it would be interesting, but I don't think it added much. It was a good little surprise though since I was in the middle of doing dishes. Have you read this? #esjerambles i want to remember my life — just here & there “our april really could be something great” “having a lovely time. wish you were here.” the very trip i was looking forward to — from winter to spring, japan and taiwan. places that always draw me in — japan and it’s endless discovery matched with its most beautiful seasons and weather. and taiwan, a place i like to call home jokingly, yet truly is a place i have chosen to consider as one. “how do i go back to reality now?” i say in jest, as i land back in bangkok — because if i’m being honest it’s quite jarring how easy it is to fall back into the sameness and routine despite the spark each of these trips bring. arriving back in bangkok at 2 am, getting right back to the office 7 hours later — and the next thing you know, i’m “here”. a “here” that, albeit different from the presence i get while traveling in japan and being at home in taiwan — is just as much of a “here” that i want for and am grateful for. all this rambling and yapping to say, it’s been the most beautiful past few weeks that i yearn to relive, but also just happy to have experienced. — now for a trip report: 📚 : finished two books, bought six books! — read spring by ali smith and reread normal people — book haul to follow!! 🎶 : taylor tayLOR TAYLOR — i need to know everyone’s favorite songs from TTPD becaude i am quite literally obsessed 🎥 : watched incantation (taiwanese horror movie) on an out of nowhere airbnb by mt fuji and it was a horrifically great decision !!! highly recommend 🥘 i do not have enough character space to dump all of the amazing food i ate but — tonkatsu !!! oyster cake !!! almond tofu dessert !!!! ramen !!!! luroufan !!! ++ maybe a random camera dump in the future 📷 : 10 photos is not enough to capture how beautiful this trip was but i hope this gives a glimpse !!!! 🌱 and as i go back to my same old routines, stay tuned for some long overdue drafts on: book reviews, random rambles, book rec reels, read aloud reels, and more !!
