Even more than I had. These books mean something to a lot of people and they send a message and give a voice to men that a lot of books really miss out on. Just seeing how they’ve impacted @samueldedmon makes me hold them in such high regard and every person he has suggested them to has gone on to love them and buy the rest of the series as well. Because of his passion and excitement for seeing @lyssakayadams again this year, I made him his own “special edition” of The Bromance Book Club, modeled after the cover art on the existing book. O livro já começa com o casal em crise no relacionamento, pois Gavin descobre que durante todo o casamento sua esposa fingia na cama e isso abala ele. Gavin é jogador de baseball e alguns amigos do time vão ao auxílio dele apresentando o Clube do Livro dos Homens. Um clube composto só por homens, como o nome já diz, e que estão focados em recuperar o seu relacionamento, seja com namorada, noiva ou esposa. Os meninos indicam um livro para Gavin começar a ler e tirar algumas ideias dali. Ao longo da história, vemos Gavin reproduzindo o que ele aprendia em um romance através do ponto de vista de um personagem masculino escrito por uma mulher, e da Thea enfrentando o passado conturbado dela pela história entre o casamento/divórcio dos pais. Eu gostei muito que a autora foi colocando capítulos do livro que o Gavin tava lendo no meio do livro. Achei que deixou a história bem mais imersiva apesar de que o livro da condessa era EXATAMENTE a história do Gavin e da Thea e eu sei que foi por isso que os meninos escolheram esse livro pra ele. Eu entendo a Liv se preocupar com a irmã, mas achei que ela era um extremo muito grande de ranço contra o Gavin. Achei que realmente precisava de uma discussão dela e da Thea pra ela se pôr no lugar dela. Achei o Mack muito engraçado. Ainda não sei sobre o que os outros livros da coleção falam, mas acho que talvez teria algum dele com a Liv pensando na reação que ele teve dela. Achei que a Liv ter falado dos livros que o Gavin tinha no armário como se fosse algo extremamente perigoso de uma maneira que não tinha necessidade na hora e achei ela muito metida pra mexer nas coisas do Gavin. Mas confesso que fiquei curiosa pra saber quais eram os outros livros que ele tinha separado. No final, achei que tudo foi bem esperado já, que o casal iria se resolver e ser feliz com as filhas e gostei da Thea ter se resolvido com o pai. Queria ver uma conversa dela com a mãe que não teve nada neste livro. "Nada no mundo é tão forte quanto uma mulher cansada de fazer papel de trouxa."

•The Bromance Book Club by Alyssa Kay Adams (Bromance Book Club No. 1)• ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I thought that The Bromance Book Club was a really cute, fun, light-hearted read! I enjoyed the overall premise of men reading romance novels in order to better understand the women in their lives, but it is very clearly another piece of fiction written by women for women. There were some areas of the story that were fairly problematic. For example, when Gavin essentially blackmails Thea into giving him another chance and using their kids as bait while he really should have listened and taken no for an answer. I have a whole backlog of reviews I want to write and post, but I’ll start here with The Bromance Book Club by Alyssa Kay Adams. Overall, a solid 3.5⭐️ out of 5. The premise is a bit silly, but the book actually does a solid job juggling the humor with the deeper moments. Gavin, a baseball star who’s about to risk divorce with his wife Thea, wants to win her back. His guy friends, all of whom are various pillars in the Nashville community, have a secret “Bromance Book Club”, where they read smut to become better men to the women and just people in their lives. I’ll start with this, Gavin is a well written guy, not just some dumb jock. The book is dual POV between him and Thea, and I liked his chapters a bit more than Thea. He’s struggled all his life with a stutter, and he’s a father to two girls whom he and Thea are trying to comfort during this rocky time in their marriage. Thea is where the book suffers a little bit. I felt her arc was good, but a bit underdeveloped until the end where it’s crammed in the last 50 pages. But I’m glad she had her moments as relationships are two way streets, and both Gavin and Thea address a lot of underlying traumas and problems they individually, then as a couple, have to conquer. The side characters are fun and I see why each of them got their own books after this. A solid fun read for a weekend if you want something a bit light hearted, but not afraid to discuss the harder side of marriage, family, insecurities in relationships, and second chances. #booktok #bookstagram #romancebooks #bromancebookclub

I finished this book this week and here are some thoughts 💭 I DID actually like this book and ended up giving it 4 stars based on ~vibes but there were just a few things I couldn’t get over! Other than what’s on the slides: Why was Liv so awful? She really had no other character depth than just being pessimistic, pandering Thea about wanting to work on her marriage (why wouldn’t she?!), and acting like she was above everyone else. And yeah the character redemption arc did not work with her 🤷🏼♀️ Why did Thea need Awful Liv’s (her new name 🤣) opinion on everything she did with Gavin? For a character that was described as strong and unique and standing up for what’s right and artsy and progressive and everything, why did she need her trauma bond’s permission to let her own husband stay in HER OWN (and his own) house again? I wish they weren’t so repetitive, or that sometimes the men weren’t the ones in the wrong at the end, because in my opinion sometimes it was the women’s fault. ♡´･ᴗ･`♡ Book Review ★★★★★ 𝟓/𝟓 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 by Lyssa Kay Adams Finally got around to reading this and I loved it! It’s a contemporary romance but you get a little bit of regency romance in this too! This story was such a cute one. It definitely has some spice but it was the perfect mix of cutesy, lol moments, smut, and real life situations. There’s a group of Major League Baseball players who are in a book club and they read smutty romance. I believe there are four books in the series, one for each member of the book club. This first story introduces Thea and Gavin who are going through some tough times in their marriage. Overall I looooved this book and I will 100% be checking out the rest of the series. This was one of those stories where in the end you’re just like aww that was so cute and it just makes you feel happy and makes you smile. This is the kind of book i NEVER would have picked up on my own, but I'm so glad one of our book club members chose it. So much of this book resonated with me, the common issues most marriages face and some of the deeper issues too. The side characters (including Gavin's internal monologue) were great at providing levity. Admittedly, there were several times I thought Thea needed to stop being so stubborn, but I'm so thankful I pushed through. The author had a point to make and she did it beautifully. I loved how she spread the blame to both husband and wife and forced them both to do hard things. A relatable second chance romance that I couldn't put down. I mean, the cover has sure played a role. It was funny, heart-warming, steamy, refreshing, a bit sad I admit ; it did leave a huge smile on my face when I finished. It broke new ground by the concept (a BC full of alpha men) and the way the story was executed. White men that are reading historical romance novels ? I’m a simp for that. Anyhow, you know I am not the biggest fan of miscommunication in romance but sometimes it gives something to the story and here, I felt like it showed a situation that could really happen to anyone. And that’s exactly what I love in that kind of story where a married couple is trying to reconnect and save their relationship. I loved Gavin, how he tried to save his family, his marriage, but also how he reconsidered his priorities and then how he became husband material. I didn’t like Thea as much as I liked him, maybe because Gavin was highlighted more, but also because she was tough on him when she was also wrong. You want to fail a marriage ? You need two people. She wasn’t always fair. The BBC won my heart. The guys were really funny. But Gavin making fun of real football (soccer)… Meh, you play baseball man. Anyway, the side characters added something delightful. The nontoxicity of this brotherhood (The Bromance Brookclub : it spoke for itself) made me giggle and I’m so sad that Mack’s love interest in the next book is Liv. I truly want to read the second novel but damn, that girl was a shrew ! Mean, unpleasant, haughty… While he’s the archetype of the man of every girl’s dream. How can you be so resistant to your sister and her husband trying to save their family, which includes their two kids. She was only seeing by the prism of her reality and acted like a child. I despised her and every time she was there or spoke I wanted to punch her in the face. For a light rom-com, this book starts off pretty heavy and deals with some heavy stuff throughout. It's handled well, but I definitely wasn't prepared. There's so many great conversations between men, highlighting issues with toxic masculinity and helping each other with mental health, emotional vulnerability and communication. I'm deciding to slowly dip my toes into the Romance reading genre and was entranced by the recommendation The Bromance Bookclub by Lyssa Kay Adams! The storytelling sits in the RomCom camp, which is perfect for me! Parts of the story include humor with a flare similar to the movie Crazy Stupid Love, the vulnerability of Beauty and the Beast, and an innocence resembling What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. I listened to this book on audio and thought it was so good I started it from the beginning and went through it again! He’s been chilling in my closet for a while and since I’m trying to get back into photo challenges, it felt bright to bring him back out. .
