A client of mine said the following to me today: “I would love to make working out 3x a week my goal, but I know I won’t have the time. And I can’t bear to make a goal I just know I’ll fail at. What do I do, Ariel?” I want to share this because I have a feeling maybe someone else feels this way, too. There are so many coaches out there who say that they want their clients to set goals. But honestly, the longer I live the more I see people royally f**k up their goal setting. They’re not realistic They go too big too fast or not big enough at the start The goals are based on SOMEONE ELSE’S progress, not one’s own And lastly… The goals are being set in a poor mindset. Self fulfilling prophecies are real as ever. Tell yourself you won’t and you surely won’t. Tell yourself you will, and if you don’t get there at least you’ll have given it your best shot!! I said to this client: “What if instead of ‘working out’ you spend 30 minutes playing and dancing with your daughter outside? And what if instead of 10,000 steps a day we did 5000 to 7000?” She responds: “but that’s not really enough is it?” My two responses: “enough for WHO? + it’s MORE than what you’re doing now, so yes it’s enough ❤️🙌🏼” My client realized her goals were not hers. She was setting goals and living the life of a friend of hers who was dieting in an extreme way, not to much success I’ll add (so I hear lol). I wanted this client to realize she needs to focus on herself more, and how she can improve her life for the better on HER TERMS. If you set goals for someone else ➡️ you’ll NEVER feel good enough. Today’s update: July 22,2021 Tomorrow will be a week since WLS. I am very glad I did it. I am still extremely limited to what I can eat. (Think if stages that a baby goes through when learning to eat) I am excited that tomorrow I will go to CLOUDY liquids. I can go to my favorite nutrition shop for a shake and a tea. 🎉 I can also do my homemade shakes again using my premier protein shake and my isagenix protein powder. They taste really good and pray that my new stomach will like them. My struggle is real….and it is this: my brain has Way more energy than my body. And that causes frustration and I become very tired, very quick. I am grateful that my incisions are healing well and they itch more than cause pain. So I take that has a WIN! “If you have discipline, drive, and determination....nothing is impossible” Let me tell y’all that I was at my heaviest 🤦🏾‍♀️. I have never weighed 216. I just knew something needed to be done, so I took action. These results is from cutting out carb, no alcohol, no sugar, Herbalife products, & exercising 5-6 days a week. Sounds hard right? I believe ANYONE can do it, just got to put your mind to it! February----->July 267lbs ------>241lbs *I really didn't start taking my weightloss seriously till about June. * In February i was at the heaviest weight i have ever been sadly. I hated how i looked, and how clothes fit. I didnt want to feel like that anymore. So i decided to try keto after so many other diets failed and i just couldnt stick to them. I started running with coworkers (who are amazing and encouraging btw) at first i could only do 1 mile or 1.5miles, but i have gotten up to 3 to 3.5 miles! And my mile has gone from 16min to 12min! 8 weeks later and 26 lbs lighter. I’ve lost about 5 inches in my hips, thighs and stomach each. And more inches in every other area as well. I’ll be honest, totaling how many inches I’m down confuses me, so I’ll just say that over all, I’m down a lot! (Just for reference, I’m 5’10”.) I literally feel lighter and springier in my movements. My sleep has consolidated to the point that I’m sleeping less hours and feeling more rested. I feel fantastic to be honest. I knew I didn’t feel great before but I don’t think I realized how bad I actually felt until I started feeling better. The past 14 weeks I have been following a Keto diet. I have done Keto off and on over the last couple years but never really stuck with it longer than a month. I also didn't know exactly what I was doing either though. But I did know I always felt good when I did it. This time I did my research and did it the right way. I had no idea you needed to take electrolytes and collagen. I had no idea to cook foods in healthy fats. I am still following a Keto diet and will continues. Truth is I have some cheat meals from time to time. I still live my life and eat food. People think you can't eat food on Keto. The truth is I still eat a lot of good food!! I have realized that carbs and sugar make me feel like garbage. I'm not restricting myself, I am just doing what makes my stomach and me feel better. I have lost 26 pounds so far. The last month and a half I have been pretty much just maintaining because I havent been eating enough healthy fats the way I should but I have still been low carb low sugar. Losing weight is a plus but I feel good and that is what is most important. There's a lot of mixed feelings when it comes to Keto but I just know this is the only thing that makes me feel good!

When you think about quitting think about why you started. I heard being fit is hard but so is being fat. People forget that it’s not just about vanity. Being overweight was so hard on my body. I feel really proud of the progress I’ve made however there is still work to be done. I’m not only getting rid of my rolls, I’m getting stronger. My body is a temple and it’s my job to take care of it. It’s starts from the inside out. It starts in the mind. What am I thinking about. It moves down to my eyes. What do I choose to look at? It moves down to my ears. What will I choose to listen to? It moves down to my mouth. What will I choose to talk about. Then down to the rest of my body. How will I choose to move?
