Hey!! I guess this is an intro post even tho I have like 10 followers rn?? Iâm Bex! Iâm 26 and Iâve had anorexia for 12yrs now. I was diagnosed at 16 (how has it been 10 years wtf???) and I wonât bore you with the whole story but after a long time of being very poorly, I entered âall inâ recovery in around 2019/2020. After a few minor setbacks, I finally felt like I was becoming free from my eating disorder. I was weight restored for the first time ever and genuinely felt like I was fully recovered and anorexia was gone from my life. I fell in love, had a baby, and just generally had a totally ED free life. However over the last 6 months the eating disorder thoughts slowly slowly crept back in again. As I am still breastfeeding I used this as a reason to push against them (canât nourish my son if I canât nourish myself), which worked pretty well, until very recently. In April me and my partner went on a small trip away with our son and this small change to our routine (and diet) triggered anorexia massively. Once we got home I fell into a pretty serious relapse. It did not last long at all, but I am now very aware that I need to continue committing to recovery. Itâs not done, or finished with. Itâs a constant work in progress. So I started this account to hold myself accountable, even when I donât think I âneedâ it.

As estrogen levels drop, fat distribution begins to shift from the hips and thighs to the abdomen, in the form of visceral fat, which isnât just annoying, itâs also dangerous. During perimenopause and menopause, many experience this increase in visceral fat along with a decrease in muscle mass which studies have shown raises the risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and certain cancers. Visceral fat and subcutaneous fat are two types of adipose tissue (body fat) found in the body, and they differ in location, distribution, and metabolic impact. Knowing the differences between the two types of fat is important so that you can make informed choices and not feel so out of control. This phase of life is not a weight gain death sentence. I see the women in my program change their body composition all of the time as they implement these changes and so can you. I don't count calories, but I do my best to make my calories count. I am conscious of including 30-35 grams of #protein each meal, and I am also aware of getting enough fiber. ⌠YOU NEED FIBER IN YOUR DIET!!! ⌠This is unbelievably important for your health and longevity. Along with protein, please make this a priority. Second to protein, this is a major pain point for many people I work with. The majority donât get nearly enough fiber in each day. Fiber mattersâit slows the entrance of sugar into the bloodstream (blunting its glycemic impact), helps with digestion, and provides âfoodâ for bacteria in the gut. Just remember that because fiber slows digestion, you donât want to load up right before a hard workout or a run. Women should aim for, at least, 25g of fiber daily. Men should aim for, at least, 35g of fiber daily. You do not need âsuperfoodsâ or any of the other fancy titles. Itâs easy to be tricked by the ridiculous marketing, when all your body really needs for health is every day and affordable healthy foods. Natural foods contain a complex mix of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, fat, fiber, and other micronutrients that all work together in harmony to keep us healthy. Wat een heerlijke vibes weer afgelopen weekend ð«! Tussen de buien door werden we tijdens onze kookworkshops getrakteerd op niets dan stralende zon. Zaterdag verzorgden we een workshop wereldse tapas en fingerfood voor een groepje dames die jaarlijks een vriendinnenweekend organiseren, dit keer in een vakantiehuisje aan de rand van Leuven. En hoe grappig is het dat we ontdekten dat zij, net als wij, allemaal uit Mol komen ð? Dat leverde meteen stof op voor heel wat gedeelde gespreksonderwerpen. Op zondag was het heerlijk buiten vertoeven tijdens onze workshop OERkoken. We gingen voor de laatste keer aan de slag met een groep van 16 enthousiaste deelnemers om allerlei unieke gerechten te bereiden in de dutch oven, op de BBQ plancha of zelfs rechtstreeks in het vuur. Na een korte pauze starten we deze workshops weer op in het najaar. Maar we zitten niet stil! Ik heb al een heleboel bruisende ideeën om aan het vuur te experimenteren, zodat de workshops vernieuwend blijven. part 9 | moments from the weekend Iâm grateful to ed recovery for ordering what I wanted at brunch, eating what I wanted and leaving what I didnât wearing clothes that actually fit me to said brunch⊠clothes that I felt cute & comfortable in, rather than something too tight/simply not my size to appear as small as possible a variety of fun drinks throughout the weekend â from a sweet matcha lemonade to my large mug of beer lol followed by late night mcdonalds with John ð feeling strong during and after a Friday evening spin class! having dessert after 8pm (a time that was once cemented in my mind as the dayâs âcut offâ) not allowing what I ate this weekend to determine whether or not I got popcorn at the movies (with butter and salt ofc ð)

â€ïž CAROB AND TURMERIC â€ïž With being ill almost every day of the past and current month, I decided my breakfast could use some extra herbs and spice to level up it's antioxidants! I made a porridge on the stove, using: 30 grams of oatflour 20 grams of bananaflour (plantainflour) 25 grams of natural vegan proteinpowder 300 mls coconutmilk tbsp carob powder tbsp turmeric tsp anise black pepper pink himalayan salt & topped it off with: 75% dark choc "Fleur de Sel" cranberries coconutblossom sugar First mix all the dry ingredients together, whisk in the coconutmilk and put it on middle heat for about 10 minutes until the porridge is thick and creamy ð Remember, fats in the coconutmilk and black pepper activate the turmeric!

In season Sunday (i know itâs Monday, itâs been a rough week!) Broad beans ð« one of my childhood favourites, a nutrient powerhouse & such a versatile ingredient. Packed with sociable fibre to aid digestion and lower cholesterol, folate, protein, minerals such as copper & magnesium, b vitamins and also levodopa - a compound that your body converts to dopamine. These lovely little beans are also packed full of anti oxidants, iron and contribute towards good bone health. You can do so much with these, I love them freshly picked in a green salad: Broad bean, feta & watercress salad 400g (podded weight) fresh or frozen broad beans small pack mint, leaves picked and very finely chopped 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 100g bag watercress 100g feta, crumbled 25g pine nuts, lightly toasted ⢠Put the broad beans in a bowl, pour over boiling water from the kettle, then drain and transfer to a bowl of cold water. ⢠Remove the skins from the broad beans by splitting them with your fingernail and slipping out the bean. Make the dressing by combining the mint and olive oil in a small bowl. Season generously. ⢠Toss the watercress with the broad beans, feta and the dressing. Scatter with the pine nuts and serve. A month ago I opened a newsletter from our realtor - and learned about the @flowermartbmore. I looked it up, and added it to my calendar because it sounded delightful. But as the day approached, I began to notice my brain starting to spin reasons I shouldn't go. Some of the reasons even felt compelling. I could have used the time to go to the bigger garden center before the weekend and rush, to finally get the many plants I want for our terrace. But also excuses. But here is the thing: I was excited about this festival. Curious. It's been on my calendar for a month! The real truth is that this isn't the first time something like this has happened to me. I plan something. I get excited. And then as it gets closer, I come up with reasons NOT to do it. And sometimes those reasons feel true. But most of the time, those reasons are just me - getting in my own way. Trying to conserve energy. Sabotaging my delight. My curiosity. And so, when I found myself noticing this pattern ...I paused, journaled a bit to "inquire within" - and then...got out of my own way and turned toward what would feel delicious in the moment.
