Real talk 👇🏽 Did I lie? 😳 I’ve been guilty of it too. And, still find myself guilty of it in non-weight related areas. I’ll admit. I want what I want AND I want to get it in the way that I want (within what I feel is reasonable anyhow). In some areas of my life, that tendency has been wildly helpful. I’ve found unconventional ways to reach my goals because of it. However, frustration is a sign of rigidity. So, if you’re feeling frustrated with your weight loss process, ask yourself… Where do I have room to dial things in? What am I willing to do differently or more consistently? Am I at my capacity for how much I’m willing to do? If you don’t know the answer to the first question, get help. If you know the answer, proceed to the second question. If you know the answer to the second question, get busy (and maybe accountability too). If the answer to the last question is yes, let go of the goal. Either way, frustration is a sign of a mismatch between expectations and reality. You can align the two by changing your actions or changing your expectations. Happy Friday!

🤎 A very brown looking tea tonight but followed the recipe from @jadecarolanfitness butter chicken and can say it was delicious! Making little tweaks to how you already eat can be a great way to keep you feeling satisfied whilst you’re trying to lose body fat and keep it off! Our eldest daughter loves pasta—it’s her favourite dish, and it doesn’t matter what type as long as it’s pasta, she is ‘happy’. Therefore, most weeks I include a pasta dish whilst meal planning. Eating meals together as a family is the best way to role model healthy habits. Pairing pasta with a salad helps increase food volume and slow down eating. Adding protein to pasta keeps you full and satisfied. Switching to whole-wheat pasta will up your fibre intake. Adding extra veggies to your pasta sauce will add diversity and nutrients into your diet. Sprinkling with a little Parmesan keeps you feeling happy and satisfied. You can still enjoy meals as a family whilst trying to achieve your goals. This meal is quick and easy, uses meal prep veggies and sauce; the meatballs are cooked in 10 mins in the air fryer. I know how this feels and it is beyond frustrating as this was my life for the longest time.⁣ ⁣ I would lose weight doing a “diet” that was so restrictive and beyond unsustainable. ⁣ ⁣ However, once I stopped doing the “diet” plan, I would gain back all of the weight that I lost and some.⁣ ⁣ I used to give up all of my favorite foods like pizza, bread, pasta, donuts, cake and ice cream. I could do this diet for a bit of time, however eventually I would cave in to my cravings for these foods. ⁣ ⁣ Once I gave into these cravings, it was lights out and I would binge on all of these foods non stop.⁣ ⁣ I’ll never forget being at a party where I had promised myself that I would be good before going. They had my favorite cupcakes (chocolate/chocolate). I decided to have one and it was all downhill from there. I ate 4 pieces of pizza, chips, dip, pretzels and another cupcake.⁣ ⁣ This was my life for as long as I could remember. My weight went down and up. Constantly on a cycle.⁣ ⁣ I knew that it was a temporary “fix” and I knew it didn't work but for 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍 I kept going back to the 𝐘𝐎-𝐘𝐎 diet and I was too scared to try something new.⁣ ⁣ Losing weight was a real struggle for me.⁣ ⁣ It wasn’t until I learned how to fuel my body with the right amount of food and knowing that eating less is not the answer to weight loss.⁣ ⁣ And here is what I did that helped me lose weight and keep it off that what works for me and my clients:⁣ ⁣ > I ate more protein⁣ > I ate more carbs⁣ > I got my steps in everyday⁣ > I did resistance training⁣ ⁣ Once I finally REALIZED these “diets” that I was doing in my 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and most of my 50’s weren’t ever going to work was when my life changed.⁣ ⁣ I stopped “dieting” 4 years ago at the age of 56 and I am in the best shape of my life.⁣ ⁣ These things ^ are the most effective ways that you can do to lose weight sustainably.⁣ ⁣ If you are ready to ditch the ineffective “diets” that you have been doing to lose weight while eating all of your favorite foods, then I invite you to join my signature group program 𝐎𝗪𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐘𝐎𝐔.⁣ ⁣ Comment below “Pizza” for the details.⁣ ⁣ Coach Helen Ann 💙

The thing I hear the most on consult calls with potential clients is this: "I'm out of control." They say it to me like it's the truth. They ARE out of control. And then the shame swoops in because they're smart, CEOs, intelligent, and are "supposed" to have it together. The problem with believing you're out of control is the hamster wheel of effects it creates: At your next meal, you eat without care (because you're out of control, right?). You don't make a food plan for the next day. You forego buying groceries (because you're not planning ahead) and eat out a few days in a row. You're feeling icky, mentally & physically, and you feel reassured that, yes, you are out of control. Plus the dip in work you experienced due to feeling so crappy. It's a nasty, vicious hamster wheel and it all stems from believing, "I'm out of control." This is where mindset coaching comes in. It's not about using that shame to get you to go back to eating "right". It's not about getting back on the wagon again after that long week of eating without care. It's about questioning the belief, "I'm out of control." The moment you question it, it loses some of its vicious powers. Try it out right now. Ask yourself, "What if it's possible that I'm not actually out of control?" Pause. Consider. Feel the curiosity that immediately ensues. You don't have to try to figure out how to stop being "out of control" to lose weight for good. You have to see those kinds of sentences as optional thoughts rather than the truth of the world. What I wish more people knew about losing weight for good 👇🏽 This could save you a TON of time and frustration. We spend a lot of time believing our age, hormones, and metabolism are stopping us. We don’t realize that none of those factors could stop us if we learned how to do what needed to be done despite our schedule, food preferences, competing priorities, emotional highs and lows, and moving parts of the day. It’s the second group that knocks us off our square long before the first group has a chance.

First time here & it was a little busy. I forgot my leggings AND my water bladder for my waist bag so had to hike/walk in work pants & carry my water bottle.
