The Celebrity CEO is an interesting book that explores the idea of self-identity and how in the pursuit of success, our relationships have become transactional. Tomson has used the character of Ariyan to highlight the issues that have become a part of our lives as we live in this continuous race to accumulate wealth and fame, sometimes at the cost of our health and our relationships. The book is a comfortable read and Tomson has made sure that the message he wants to put across is not preachy, rather woven into the plot to bring it out slowly. While the first part is about Ariyan and his celebrity status, I was quite impressed with the way the second half of the book is planned. The evolution of the story becomes evident in the conversations Ariyan has with the other characters in the story. The multiple call backs to conversations which seemed trivial in the first half suddenly make sense in hindsight. The climax, however, was a wonderful piece of plotting, which is something the reader would definitely not be able to guess, considering its link with the initial chapters of the book. Overall, this is a book I would definitely recommend you to read as it highlights a major issue of motivation today. Let Love Take Over by Tomson Robert is a sweet and tad bit adventurous tale of Josh who grows up with a bitter memory. That memory goes on to shadow his future actions and mars his relationships. What influences Josh to an extent that he forgets to take charge of his life? Why does Josh stop being the hero he always wished to be? Was it love that was supposed to take over for him to stand for himself? The storyline has interesting bits as Josh comes to terms with his reality. He realises the importance of choosing the right battles in life! Writing being simple and smooth, the reading book only becomes a breezy experience. It has almost all the elements of contemporary romance novels including love, heartbreak, jolting transformation, union, and of course, dramatic action events! Yes, the story proceeds in a way that a reader would be thrilled to turn the pages. Some details of incidents and places do pull off the show well. However, it is a book ideally for a one-time reading and most likely for beginners. To start with, I found the narrative going wayward with a tad bit of rushing. Second, the story started with some intrigue but by the latter half, I found my interest dwindling. The characters were not memorable but I guess, their traits were closer to real people. They seemed ordinary, lacking a certain depth. The end was predictable but satisfyingly good enough. In all, Let Love Take Over didn't leave a mark but turned out to be a decent company. The protagonist has been portrayed beautifully as a gentleman who is stuck in an emotional turmoil due to an incident that took place during his school days. The loss he had to incur had a deep impact on him which eventually made him change the core of his personality over time. But the same traits surface when he comes across similar situations for his loved ones. The ending was fairly unexpected and that’s what I enjoyed the most. But if I have to point one significant event that changed my life totally, I'm relieved and kind of nervous to say that there is none. . Joshua is a tennage boy who is an aspiring reader. He is one who stands up for injustice no matter what. Facing a terrible tragedy due to his bravery, he is traumatized which makes him bury his bravery. Years pass, he gets a job, he gets married and he lives a normal life. Will he be brave and stand up to his loved ones when needed? . Reading the title, I assumed it to be a love story. But while reading the story, I never got the feel of reading a love story but rather a story of the lead character facing problems and inner issues. The protagonist's love story just covers a part of the book. Rather, the author shares many more indicents from Joshua's life. All those incidents helped me understand a lot about Joshua and I was able to empathize with him. I really liked how the story progressed. It portrayed friendship, love and the abundant affection from family. I loved Joshua's transformation with the help of his family and his action due to that. I particularly liked the last ten pages of the book. It gave me contentment and fulfillment. Book Review #219 : Title: Let Love Take Over Author: Tomson Robert Review: "There are fights that need to be taken up and there are fights that need to be dodged." So after seeing several reviews for this book on Bookstagram I thought I should really pick this one up as it seems to be a promising story. And I found it a nice read on a Sunday evening. A 176 page long book, this is the story of Joshua and Susan. Due to a heroic deed that went wrong, Joshua who aspires to become a writer, is haunted by his past and struggling in the present, with a toxic boss and his wife Susan who's nothing like him, and a riveting story of true love overcoming all hurdles on its way. The grandfather's role is quite appreciable as well who narrates the biblical story of David and Goliath. An amazing storyteller, a good plot and a somewhat better than other love stories, this one was an okay read for me. Several parts seem relatable and many things in the book including the coporate politics and other parts will be found relatable by everyone. A few noticeable typographical errors but the essence remains intact The book challenges the notion of a hero and is filled with various emotions. This trip turns into an unforgettable tragedy when Josh decides to be a hero. An unfortunate event takes place and Josh loses his best friend. The incident traumatises him for life and he becomes incapable of taking a stand for the right things; be it his wife's dreadful experience at her workplace or his boss's toxicity in office. . You'll have to read the book in order to find out what actually happened on the trip? Will Josh ever be able to stand up for what's right? Will he let love take over his fear? . The author has taken care while describing the details of events, places and food. I liked the first half of the story that's filled with positivity, happiness and friendship. However, I do feel that the focus of the book shifts from the main events. I wanted to see character development of the protagonist in detail, which I felt was missing from the story. Susan, the wife who has such an important role to play, looks like a secondary character in the story. It could have been better. . Their friendship grows thicker and stronger. They understand each other so well. Joshua likes to move their relationship to the next level. Joshua always likes to be brave and bold but his past dark incidents haunting him. What happened then? Can Joshua propose to her? What happened in Joshua's past? Why does he fear being bold and brave? What are the struggles they have gone through? How Joshua's family reacted to their relationship? Read it and find out. The way the author narrated this story was very articulate. It's was a nonlinear narration through we can understand it very clearly. I just loved Joshua's grandfather character. He was so cool and very motivating. His stories are so good and inspiring. I thoroughly enjoyed the grandfather's presence. The language used in this was lucid. So beginners can also read it. The title is very apt to this book. If you like to read something about the love with family and corporate dramas go for it. You will love it. I recommend this to read. Josh's father warned him 'not to be a hero' what followed the heroic act was tragic. 🍃The book was a bit of a bouncy ride. I liked the story of David, narrated by Josh's grandpa. The narration was authentic and easy to follow. The emotions were clearly expressed but it didn't strick me deeply. I liked the office environment as it was raw. Kavitha is such a good soul. The story revolves around the protagonists Joshua and Susan. Joshua, a passionate storyteller aspires to become a writer and encouraged by his grandfather to fulfil his dreams. He always stands up for any kind of injustice. Susan, an independent and modern women always stands against the wrong. Joshua fell in love with Susan and both of them got married. One day Sushan's boss misbehaved with her but Josh didn't take any action and remained quiet because of a tragedy that hit him in the past. Now their marriage was at the edge of divorce. What will Joshua do to save his marriage? What was his past life trauma? Will he be able to save his marriage? Read the book to know the answers. The plot of the story is interesting, engaging and fresh. It is a perfect blend of romance, friendship, family, love, corporate world, office, politics, hardships etc. I liked the story about David and Goliath which Grandpa told to Joshua which was too much inspiring and changed his life. The language used is simple and lucid. Characters are well developed and described by the author. I liked the female dominant characters. 'Let Love Take Over' is a fantastic book that tells us the story of Joshua, a boy who always stands up against injustice and hence getting into fights; much to the dismay of his father. He aspires to become a writer but his father advises him against it and asks him to get serious with life. Raghu is Joshua's best friend and the two always goof around with each other like most teenagers. One day Joshua and his friends go on a school-sponsored trip to Mumbai, and they meet a girl named Amirta in the train. They become friendly with her and invite her to join their games. At a stop, when Amirta goes to the washroom, a thug misbehaves with her. Hearing her ordeal, Joshua decides to bash up the thug and takes Raghu along and the two get into a fight which ends up in a disaster. Raghu dies thus giving Joshua the shock of his life. He is unable to forgive himself for his best friend's death and carries the trauma with him throughout. Years pass and Joshua gets into the corporate world leaving behind his dream of becoming a writer. Whenever he sees any injustice happening he gets reminded of his past and does not do anything. He meets a beautiful woman named Susan and after months of courtship, he marries her. All goes well until he is unable to help Susan when she is facing a similar form of harassment in her office. This strains their marriage to the extent that they start living separately. Will Joshua be able to move on from his past and lead a happy life with Susan ? 'Let Love Take Over' is the exact answer to it! Like quite literally :p I loved reading this book mainly for the simple language in which it was written to explain life's lessons. Another amazing aspect of the book was the lovely relationship it portrayed between Joshua and his grandfather who helps him sort out his problems by giving solutions in the form of stories. Let Love Take Over by Tomson Robert 📚 Let Love Take Over by Tomson Robert was a thought provoking read filled with quote worthy moments. The book is quite short and though it dealt with important issues it was still light enough to binge read. I finished it in 2-3 hours reading and thoroughly enjoyed it. Firstly the cover was so minimalist and beautiful, I adore it. The writing style was eloquent and idiomatic. The narration was in first person and had a single POV. The tone of the book was optimistic and candid. The plot was fast paced and intriguing. I like the space and length of each chapter. The book was very cohesive in nature. The language used was lucid and would be easy to read even for beginners. The characters of the book were all deep and held their own. The theme of the book was all about being a hero. What counts as a heroic act and what counts as an act of stupidity. There is only a fine line that distinguishes both. That's what our main protagonist, Joshua was battling. He was a brave man until one earth shattering moment in his past. After that one event, he always took the passive neutral path. But there comes a time in everyone's journey, where hard decision's need to be taken irrespective of the risk. Does Joshua overcome his trauma and be brave again? You have to read to find that out. The other part of the plot was his love story with Susan, it was a bitter sweet experience to read. But my all time favourite character of this book was Josh's grandfather, he reminded me of my own and was the most likable character in the whole book. The book also talked about the struggle people have too pursue a career in creative arts which was beautiful to read. Overall, it was solid contemporary romance with a lot of meanings and insights. When Susan's boss tried to misbehave with her, Josh remained quiet and didn't take any action against him due to the tragedy that hit him in the past. As a consequence his marriage was in the verge of divorce and he was about to lose his wife, Susan. What will be Joshua's next step to save his marriage ? The book was a nice and enjoyable read. The author had tried to keep it as realistic as possible. Written in a simple language, the plot was well narrated and the characters were well developed. The book also gives us glimpses of Joshua's childhood and teenage which made me remember those good days of the past. However, the book was a bit predictable for me.

I love how the Author has crafted such a meaningful lesson, of letting go, of acceptance, of priorities and of trusting the Almighty. And most importantly, of tursting ourselves, of having faith in our skills, of being afraid to lose a job or a position we're working hard for. Book Review: Alumni Of The Year by Tomson Robert⠀ ⠀ This is definitely an entertaining book. To say it is imaginative would be an understatement. Still, I expected the main character to be more insane. Maybe I'm just more messed up than I thought, but he seemed like a pretty normal guy to me by the end.⠀ ⠀ I am completely in awe of Tomson Robert's command of language, most pointedly in terms of humorous usage. Well, Alumni Of The Year was a disconcerting read; I share far too many tendencies with Dave but on the whole I'd rather be like him than some of the other characters. I'm sure there are many messages that one can take from this book but the one that stuck with me was that the groups you get selected into in school, "popular", "unpopular", "weird" etc, actually stay with you as you navigate your life; somehow people just know. Schools are a great example of natural selection, if not of empathetic humanism. The book is well written and obviously edited. The ending was equally wonderful as the beginning because the rest of the novel, though short, was set up for such a strong ending. I liked that Author Tomson weaved his character's history in with what was happening in their present; that was a nice touch. But the best thing about this book is the voice. It's indescribable and completely original. The chapters are ostensibly "updates" written by Dave for his high school's alumni newsletter, and within that format Author Tomson fashions an incredibly specific tone that incorporates irony, dazzling verbal wit, (pseudo)philosophical declamations, and an almost Greek chorus-like sense of tragic understanding.
