🇭🇺 Christopher Paolini - Murtagh 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕 5/5 Paolini felnőtt és rengeteget fejlődött. Meglátszik az eltelt húsz év. Szinte minden, az Örökség sorozatbeli írói hibáját levetkőzte. A mágiarendszere végre működőképes. Egyrészt azért, mert Murtagh – Eragonnal ellentétben, akit tanítottak – autodidakta módon ismerkedik a varázslással, és ezáltal az olvasó számára is sokkal érthetőbbek a szabályok. Másrészt azért, mert az eddig lefektetett varázslási szabályok egy részéről az író jótékonyan megfeledkezett, és így sokkal több értelme van az egész mágiarendszernek. Itt már sokkal komolyabb az írói stílus. A szerző nem kapkod, nem sieti el a kulcsjeleneteket, és jól egyensúlyozza az akciót, a világ informacióinak adagolását és a lélektani részeket. Így, hogy szerencsésen csak egy nézőpont van, mélyen bele tudjuk ásni magunkat Murtagh lelkivilágába és gondolataiba. Murtagh egyébként kimeríti az tragikus antihős fogalmát, sérültségével és a sákánya mentális betegsegeivel, ami gyanítom, sok női olvasó szívét – köztük az enyémet is – megolvasztja. Tetszett, hogy Paolini sok apró, realisztikus részletet csempészett a történetbe, amitől igazán kézzelfoghatóvá vált. Gondolok itt Murtagh tisztaságmániájára, vagy hogy aki emberek közé megy, bizony könnyen megbetegszik. Egyetlen rossz dolgot kell kiemelnem: sajnos a kiadás minősége jócskán leromlott az sorozat óta. A kötés ugyan keménytáblás, de gyenge anyagokból készült, nyeklik-nyaklik az ember kezében, alig van tartása. És tele van elírásokkal, nyelvtani hibákkal. Sokan mondjak, h jajj, egy ilyen hosszú könyvnél mindenképpen becsúsznak hibák. De ez nem így van. Most olvastam el az egész Örökség sorozatot, ami darabonkent 600+ oldalas, és egyetlen hibát sem leltem benne. A Murtagh meg tele van. Nagyon szomorú ezt a minőségi romlást látni 😔. A könyvet minden antihős kedvelő, high fantasy rajongónak ajánlom. Külön is olvasható, de én azért lenyomnám előtte az Örökség sorozatot, különben sok mindent nem ért az ember. Nagyon várom a folytatást. Remélem Paolini belehúz. A Molyon dupla ilyen hosszú értékelőt olvashattok tőlem 🙈 ❓️Mit szerettek jobban, az egy vagy többnézőpontos könyveket?❓️
Book Reviews: I’ve been a bit busy reading a handful of different things over the last month, but I’ve finally gotten through the majority of it to give an update! The Game of Kings by Dorothy Dunnett: It was a fun but challenging read. It’s historical fiction set in Scotland in the mid-1500s, originally published in 1961. It took a while for me to get into the groove with this one, mainly because my knowledge of the area and its politics, etc. is limited. Once I did, I found it easy to relate to the characters and enjoy the story as it unfolded. SPOILER: My favorite character dies (it figures), and I wish she didn’t because she was witty and just an all-around good human. Her scenes with the anti-hero, Lymond, were electrically charged and were some of my favorite parts of the book. The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman: A fun read about a group of pensioners who like to investigate cold cases and tend to drink quite often (I was impressed with how well they held their liquor). There were many humorous bits spread throughout that I found entertaining. I couldn’t get over how nonchalant they were going about solving the cold and not-so-cold cases presented to them. Not to mention tampering with crime scene evidence like it was just a regular old Thursday, lol. Chaos and Creation Book One: The Coming of Darkness by A. J. Andersson: An epic tale akin to LoTR. I enjoyed reading this story and learning more about the creeping darkness that threatens the realm and life as its inhabitants know it. I loved the natural elements in the story, especially the wolves and bears. Kawwak, the Raven, and the Warder are two of my favorite characters. The dark warlord is quite the villain. I would not want to go toe-to-toe with him or his minions. I'm looking forward to reading book two when it comes out and seeing where this epic tale leads. This was an ARC I received for free in exchange for an honest review. I unfortunately do not have a physical copy to show, but you can find him on Amazon! I know it's a thriller book, but the setting was somewhat similar to the Amityville Horrors which still creeps me out everytime i remember it. 📚Book Review📚 📕Good Girl, Bad Blood ✍️Holly Jackson ⭐️3.25/5 Genre: Fiction/Mystery ▪️Synopsis▪️ After the revelations from Pip’s investigative work in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Pip uses her newfound platform as a podcaster to solve a missing person’s case - the brother of a good friend. ▪️My Thoughts▪️ I felt like this book just dragggggged on. I was entertained by A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, but I couldn’t get over the fact that a little girl in high school was solving a cold case. Now, in Good Girl, Bad Blood, it feels even more unbelievable that it’s up to Pip, an 18 year-old, to save the day. Idk, it was just difficult for me to get over that. And a lot of this book felt like so much of the same thing for a long time until it finally started wrapping up. That’s when it got pretty interesting to me. It’s definitely worth reading if you want to get through the series, but it ultimately wasn’t a favorite of mine. I read this with my favorite book club and some argued this book was better than the first since the mystery is live and ongoing rather than the cold case she attempts to solve in the first book. I wasn’t on that train, but I can totally see how that may positively impact the story for someone for sure. I’ve heard good things about the third and final book in the series so I can’t wait to see how it all wraps up! What’s y’all’s favorite book in this series?⬇️

Today's been a really hot day. 🥵 So here's an electrifyingly scorching photo of my newly unboxed copy of Brandon Sanderson's The Sunlit Man, together with three other books with predominantly red and black covers. ❤️🖤 The Sunlit Man is the fourth and last book in 2023's A Year of Sanderson Collection. I haven't read or watched the book reviews yet, but I think it may be the best of the four too. It definitely looks the part. The book cover art is grand and majestic! 🌞 Production-wise I definitely got my money's worth from funding the Kickstarter campaign. Among the other three books, The Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winter is the only one I haven't read yet. But, I expect it will be filled with 99% action sequences like its prequel was. 🔥 Jade War, book 2 of Fonda Lee's The Greenbone Saga, was a fantastic read. But I can't remember specific details about it anymore. Everything that happened in the trilogy blends together in my mind with only a few highlights standing out, mostly from Jade City. My weak memory is unfortunate, but it does make rereading so much more enjoyable. Finally, Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro is a very meditative and thoughtful read. Very timely too with the swift rise in AI. Perhaps his vision of the future is too near and attainable for comfort. 🤖 What's the weather like in your corner of the world? If you were to switch jobs with the MC of your last read, what would you be doing now?✨ ✨ I'd be covering up scandals for a living!❣️✨ That does sound fun but I wonder whether I'd be good at it🤔😂 I don't think I could be better than Ivory Moore from Duke Of My Heart by @kellybowen09 though😂 She's so level-headed and amazing at what she does and I loved reading this one! It was my first Kelly Bowen book(yay for finally reading something from my physical tbr!) and I'm so excited that I've got a whole backlist that I could read through soon because I really enjoyed this one! It starts out with a bang with our MC called in to fix up a scandalous scene that involves a dead Earl tied up on the bed of a debutante. And things take a turn when the missing debutante's brother - the Duke of Alderidge shows up and he's not too keen on some stranger ordering him around. Max is better at being a sea captain than a duke and after being away for many years he finds it hard to believe that his little sister could be involved in something like this. But after seeing Ivory calmly manage the situation, he slowly begins to trust her and they work together to find out the whereabouts of his sister Beatrice. Honestly, I love seeing a competent and talented protagonist in my HR books who shows the hero how things are done😂 I love seeing the moment when the male protagonists realize that she should be the one doing this because she's better at it. Both Ivy and Max have complicated pasts that have shaped their characters but I loved how they saw each other beyond that. Max is also very caring and he thought that he was doing the best for his family. When he realizes his mistakes he's willing to make up for them. The mystery subplot involving his sister was also quite interesting and had me turning the pages, but the romance remains the main focus in this one. I did want an epilogue though because that was missing 😆 Overall this was an amazing historical romance read and I'm really excited to read the other books in the series now!❣️✨

📕What have you been reading this week? My #currentread is Norwegian Wood which has been on my TBR since early this year. It’s a much slower pace than my most recent reads and the chapters are long so this took me a while to get into however I do love an in-depth coming of age story that’s full of complicated characters. The novel follows Toru Watanabe who, after hearing her favourite Beatles song Norwegian Wood, recalls his first love Naoko. He is transported back almost twenty years to his student days in Tokyo. To a time when a woman named Midori marched into his life and he had to choose between the future and the past. Whilst this is Toru’s story Midori and Naoko definitely carry the book for me and I’m sure this must be true for other readers aswell. It’s a heavy & dark read but I’m glad I decided to pick it up after leaving it on my shelf so long. And I’m obsessed with this gorgeous edition♥️ 💭What’s your current read?

Covet by @tracywolffbooks 5/5⭐️ I love the world building in this book ❤️We leave Katmere a lot more in this book, and that’s one of my favorite things about Covet. The found-family vibes in this book get even stronger, Grace gets even badder, and the storyline gets even more intense. Grace is such a spitfire and a baddie while also being so relatable and awkward, and I’m here for it 😂 I love that she’s with someone who treats her as an equal rather than someone to be protected 👏🏻 I’m so glad I have the rest of the series because the first time I read it, the other books weren’t out yet and I just had to live after THE FREAKING END OF THIS BOOK 😭 The last 50ish pages are so intense (even more so than in Crush), and every one of these books so far leaves off on a huge cliffhanger 😩 I finished it right before bed and stayed awake thinking about it for quite awhile. I’ve finished my rereading, and I can’t wait to read the last three for the first time! (This is my first time reviewing a series as I read it, and it is really hard to not give spoilers 😅)

My most recent one is book by Czech author who interviewed some North Korean refugees and it's about their lives in North Korea. První věc po dočtení každého rozhovoru bylo- jsem ráda kde žiju. Nedokážu si představit, žít někde, kde byste nemohli věřit nikomu, ani své kamarádce/kamarádovi. Att äta människor. Ja. Det är vad boken cirkulerar kring. Som ni kan ana är det en absurd läsning, som äcklar. I dystopin Tender is the flesh följer vi en huvudperson som arbetar på ett slakteri, av människor. Världens alla djur har blivit sjuka och har behövt dödas, ist för att äta vegetariskt så äter de ist människor som de föder upp. Även om huvudpersonen själv tycker att det är obehagligt och känner på något vis att det är fel, så tjänar han bra med pengar så att han kan ta hand om sin gamla pappa. Det är svårt att sätta ord på vad jag känner för Tender is the flesh. Samtidigt som den var vidrig och helt sjuk, gillade jag den ändå. Jag har aldrig läst något liknande. Sättet som slaktarna och många andra i samhället ser på människorna som föds upp, är ju likadant som vi ser på de djuren vi föder upp. Vilket var intressant att läsa, och fundera kring. Jag ville läsa mer, och få ett grepp om huvudkaraktären som är en högst tveksam person, som man ibland tror är god, och ibland inte. Det är även endel intressanta relationer och dynamiker mellan personer som jag gillade att utforska. Jag vill ändå rekommendera den, men rekommendationen kommer med många varningstrianglar. Om du har svårt för att läsa om lite äckliga grejer. This is not for you. Det kommer dröja länge innan jag glömmer denna läsning.
