“Forever is a work of progress” My current read 🫶🏼!! When I first started this book, I’ve read up to page 68 in one seating because the back story is really interesting. What they went through in the foster home is truly sad and reading how it still affects Mallory in the present captures how healing is a process and takes time. Can’t wait to finish it soon! ‘For altid’ er en bog om to børn, der er vokset op i foster-systemet, og hvordan deres liv har udviklet sig forskelligt fra hinanden og det stærke følelsesmæssige bånd, de har udviklet til hinanden 🥺 Mallory og Rider boede i deres barndom hos den samme fosterfamilie. Det var et voldeligt hjem, hvor ingen af børnene trivedes, og som var decideret farligt for børnene, både fysisk og psykisk. De opbygger et afhængighedsforhold til hinanden. Han er hendes redningsmand, og hun er hans ‘lille mus’. En forfærdelig ulykke sker, og børnene bliver fjernet fra hjemmet og skilt ad. Rider tror, at Mallory er død, og må fortsætte livet med skyldfølelsen hængende over hovedet. Han bliver flyttet fra hjem til hjem, inden han endelig ender i et godt foster-hjem 😢 Mallory bliver adopteret af to læger. Lægerne har for nyligt mistet deres egen datter, og Mallory kan ikke undgå at føle sig som en utilstrækkelig erstatning. Hun er en klog pige, men hun kan ikke finde sig til rette i den form, som hendes nye forældre forsøger at trække ned over hovedet på hende. Da Mallory begynder på en ny skole, møder hun Rider igen, og begge deres liv ændres. Er det for det bedre eller det værre? 👀 Den her bog fik mig til at tænke over, hvor heldig jeg har været i livet. Hvor heldig jeg er, at mine forældre er en del af mit liv, og at jeg har en familie, selvom det langt fra er den klassiske kernefamilie. Det er virkelig en bog, der får dig til at sætte pris på, helt almindelige ting, som vi ikke tænker over til hverdag ♥️ Det er en bog, der ikke er bange for de helt store følelser. Bogen minder mig lidt om ‘Os to på fredag’ af Abbi Glines, (først og fremmest fordi den kvindelige hovedperson i begge bøger er stum). Jeg må dog indrømme, at ‘Os to på fredag’ er bedre skrevet. Men ‘For altid’ er helt klart en læsning værd 🙌 Jeg har lyttet til bogen som lydbog, og billedet er derfor photoshoppet 📸

Book 20 of 2024 - The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L Armentrout * I bought this to add to my JLA collection, although it isn't my usual genre. Although it was a sad read I really enjoyed it, I loved these characters and hated the awful circumstances they were in. The Problem With Forever - Jennifer L. Armentrout ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Eindelijk heb ik dit boek gelezen! 'The Problem With Forever' van Jennifer L. Armentrout stond namelijk al een hele tijd op mijn TBR. The Problem With Forever vertelt het verhaal van Mallory Dodge. Toen ze opgroeide, leerde Mallory dat de beste manier om te overleven was door niets te zeggen. En ook al is het vier jaar geleden dat haar nachtmerrie eindigde, ze begint zich zorgen te maken dat de angst die haar tegenhoudt een 'normaal' leven te leiden, een leven lang zal duren. Nu, na jaren thuisonderwijs te hebben gevolgd, moet Mallory een nieuwe mijlpaal onder ogen zien: haar laatste jaar op een middelbare school doorbrengen. Maar ze had nooit gedacht dat ze op haar allereerste dag Rider Stark, de vriend en beschermer, die ze vier jaar geleden voor het laatst zag, tegen het lijf zou lopen. Het duurt niet lang voordat Mallory beseft dat de band die ze met Rider deelde nooit echt vervaagde. Maar al snel wordt duidelijk dat zij niet de enige is die worstelt met littekens uit het verleden. Ik heb erg genoten van The Problem With Forever! Het verhaal is prachtig geschreven, de karakters zijn stuk voor stuk fantastisch uitgediept, je leeft echt mee met alle karakters in het boek en je gunt Mallory en Rider een mooie toekomst. Het boek is vrij lang (+400 pagina's), waardoor het soms wat sloom en langzaam voelt, maar aan de andere kant helpt dat ook enorm om Mallory's struggle goed te begrijpen. Het herstellen van trauma is niet iets wat over één dag ijs gaat en hier is in het boek op een mooie manier mee omgegaan. Verwacht bij dit boek geen lieve liefdesroman. And even though it's been four years since her nightmare ended, she's beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime. Now, after years of homeschooling, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at a public high school. But she never imagined she'd run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn't seen since childhood, on her very first day. 💭 There have been so many times I wanted to read this book because I was so interested in the story, and finally I did! This book is a strong 4 star read(!!), and there was so much “things” in it that for me was a good reason to give it 5 stars, but it didn´t feel right to give it 5 stars in the end.. I really don´t know why! The book is a YA romance (where the spice fits the target group!), but there is also a lot of abuse targeting children (TW). I really loved the characters, and that it had a plot twist-ish that makes this book stand out from other books in the same genre. “Books like this” must have a lot of good quotes in my opinion, and I have read books with more quotes than in this one. With that said I was sick and had a little lack of focus in the half beginning of the book so this might be my fault.. The story reminded me a lot of “Hopeless” by Colleen Hoover and a little of “Punk 57” by Penelope Douglas.

the problem with forever by jennifer l. armentrout 🦋🎀🐭 rating: 3.75 ★ format: 🎧 after sitting with this book and my thoughts for a couple days i can confidently say i thoroughly enjoyed mallory and riders story. while i didn’t necessarily find myself forming a connection with mallory and rider i felt that they were cute characters and i really enjoyed the character development that happened. i also liked some of the side characters, jayden was my personal favorite (iykyk🥲). my main issue was that i felt like for what this book was, it could’ve been a bit shorter. i think there’s were certain parts that weren’t needed but because i listened to this as an audiobook it didn’t affect me too much. the reason im giving this book a 3.75 is simply because while i’ve thought about the characters since finishing, i don’t remember too much of the story. it was a great book though and i definitely would recommend if you like young adult contemporary romances!

Oii, Hoje trago-vos uma review da minha leitura mais recente. " The problem with forever " é um livro onde seguimos Mallory, uma adolescente que até aos 13 anos vivem em tipo casas de acolhimento,  mas depois se um evento traumático é adotada por uma família. No último ano de escola ela decide que era bom parar as aulas em casa e ir para um secundário como a maioria das pessoas da sua idade. Lá ela não esperava reencontrar Ryder, o seu protetor de infância. "(...) he always seemed so much bigger, older than her, because in her eyes, he took up the entire world." Eu gostei imenso deste livro, foi a meu ver uma escrita perfeita para o tipo de temas abordados. Conseguimos ver como o mesmo passado muda as pessoas de maneiras diferentes e faz com que elas vejam a vida de formas diferentes. A Mallory é uma personagem com imensas camadas o que fez ler este livro muito interessante. Acho que houve personagens bastantes desnecessárias para a história o que para mim fez não apreciar tanto o valor deste livro. A meu ver o livro era melhor centrado apenas na Mallory e no Ryder e alguns personagens secundários ( eles todos falavam demasiado e sobre nada). Our incredible main characters have an epic bond that is full of emotions and deep rooted feelings. Experiencing Rider and Mallory feel the intensity of falling in love for the first time made my heart so full. 🩷“ Forever was knowing moments of weakness, didn’t equate to an eternity of them.“ It was beautiful to watch Mallory‘s growth throughout this book. She came out of her shell and learned skills to gain the courage to truly be who she wanted. *The Problem With Forever - Jennifer L. Armentrout* Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Genre - Contemporary Romance/ Young Adult/ Realistic Fiction Main Character/s - Mallory Dodge & Rider Stark *** I haven’t tried to review a book in this format as of yet, but here goes nothing. I first discovered this book on Kindle, and quickly proceeded to read the offered sample - as I reader I find myself fond of books dealing with hard to swallow topics, things that are taboo or just difficult to speak about in general, what drew me to ‘The Problem With Forever’ was that both the main characters came from an abusive foster home and ultimately had some traumas that needed to be unpacked and dealt with as the story neared towards the end. Mallory Dodge struggles to talk, a by product of conditioning at the hands of her abusers; meanwhile Rider Stark almost comes across with a hero complex, he finds himself every bodies protector and is not afraid of throwing himself before a fist, a consequence of his own abuse that he received alongside Mallory. Both main character have grown up together and been the only one at the others side for the majority of their lives - leaving it to no surprise that the two have quite some attachment and feelings to one another. This book did sit on my shelf for some time after I purchased a physical copy, but that had everything to do with me and the mountain of books that are all screaming for my attention; when I first started reading I worried I was going to be disappointed (which I am in some minor ways) but by the end of the book, I was left with an whirlwind of emotions I needed to sort through, both from the main characters and the secondary characters we meet along the way. In some ways this book is definitely aimed at a reader younger than myself, but I’m a firm believe of reading is reading and one should read what they desire no matter the targeted audience; however, by the halfway mark I knew I was going to enjoy it more than previously anticipated. Mallory learned that the best way to stay safe is to be silent and unseen. Four years later, after being adopted and living in a safe and loving home, Mallory has a goal of attending college. With that Mallory needs to overcome her fear and anxiety of being seen and heard. So Mallory decides she would like to complete her senior year of high school at a public school, where she runs into Rider. Just when she thought she could leave her past forever behind her she is forced to address issues she ignored before. But at least she has Rider, he seems strong and well adjusted…..or is he?🐰 ❤️‍🩹 This book brought all the feels! My heart broke for Mallory and what she went through at such a young age. I found myself cheering on Mallory and Rider’s love as they forge through their emotions of guilt, shame, and unworthiness. It took everything in me not to skip forward to the epilogue! I enjoyed how the author brought to light the fact that there are caring people with passion working in the foster system, but unfortunately most of them are overworked, underpaid, and their programs are underfunded. Resulting in children suffering, some slipping through the cracks and others not being seen or protected enough. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a young teen or older! As much as I reckon I’ll rate this one, I’m definitely nervous to read it after hearing how heavy it is. ☁️ Cloudy: a cosy read Just My Type - Falon Ballard. Much like any good romcom movie, this is perfect for enjoying whilst snuggled under a warm blanket - preferably with a glass of wine in hand. The ‘How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days’ style story is packed full of everything you’d want from a romance book, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! 🌈 Rainbow: a happy read Everything For You - Chloe Liese. While this had a few not-so-happy moments, overall it made me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. 💓The Problem with forever💓 This one was so cute. I really really liked the story. It wasn't really something special or different but the plot was so well portrayed and also of great importance. The nickname killed me. I'm a total simp for nicknames. The relationship between Rider and Mallory was the sweetest. Also we stan Ainsley. I totally knew that after Rider and Mallory finally got together and kissed that this wasn't the end. That something mayor would happen. Because there were so many pages left and it did. *Spoilers* Of course someone had to die. I was so sad and shocked. I couldn't understand what happened. The speech from Mallory in the end definitely killed me. It was so heartbreaking I cried. When Rider notices that he also is broken because of the trauma I couldn't take it anymore. Je te propose donc de revenir sur ma lecture de *L’Éternité, c’est compliqué* de Jennifer L. Armentrout. Eh oui, ça faisait trop longtemps que l’on n’avait pas parlé de JLA par ici 😋. Ce one-shot contemporain nous raconte l’histoire de Mallory et de Rider qui se sont rencontrés lorsqu’ils étaient enfants et qu’ils vivaient dans la même famille d’accueil qui les maltraitait tous les deux. Mais ils parvenaient tout de même à s’apporter du soutien et de la protection l’un envers l’autre. Quelques années plus tard, alors que ce cauchemar est fini depuis longtemps et qu’ils se sont perdus de vue, ils vont se recroiser totalement par hasard le jour de la rentrée en Terminale. Et si les enfants ont bien grandi, il est évident que les traumatismes, eux, sont loin d’avoir été effacés… Tu le sais probablement, mais les romans contemporains de l’autrice ne sont pas mes préférés. Je garde pourtant un bon souvenir de *L’Éternité, c’est compliqué*. Même si j’avoue que ma lecture remonte à plusieurs années et que je n’ai donc plus tous les détails en tête, je me souviens clairement d’une histoire d’amour et de reconstruction belle, touchante et salvatrice. ✨ MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH✨ . Hey…I’m back? Again? I’ve been gone all month. I have never been busier, but I want to make a effort to improve this account going forward. But today is just a ranting day for the sake of getting that off my chest. . This month is mental health awareness month, and that is very important to me. I won’t deny that I have struggled with this for a long time now. And the hardest part of it is just that I don’t always find my struggles valid enough to count as “serious”. It’s nothing I need medication for, so I sometimes just think that I have to deal with it alone. But that’s never the case—you should never deal with your problems alone, no matter how small you think they are! . I especially love reading book that have main characters struggling with things like mental health, because it’s SO important to stress that you aren’t alone in feeling how you feel. Some books I especially love that talk about this: The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout (PTSD) Love Times Infinity by Lane Clarke (anxiety) Counting Down with You by Tashie Bhuyian(anxiety) I personally recommend Saving 6 and Redeeming 6 by Chloe Walsh because although I don’t think it’s explicitly mentioned, it’s clear that Joey has depression Now is Everything by Amy Giles(PTSD) Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan(depression) Alone with You in the Ether by Olivie Blake(bipolar disorder) And honestly the entirety of Addicted series by Krista and Becca Ritchie shows a combination of things that affect all of their mental health And there are PLENTY more, but the thing is that we don’t always actively make note of characters having mental health problems. Perhaps it’s not a bad thing though because it should absolutely be normalized! . For the last four weeks of school, I am fixing my sleep schedule because that is exactly what I need to keep my mental health in tact. I love you all and I hope you’re taking care of yourselves! .
