What’s the point of life? Ah, that’s a good one. Survival. In my opinion. Well that’s not very positive, is it? Ok. If you were looking for the bright adage “Live Laugh Love!” Of course, do all those things! But if you’re looking for the point, the reasons behind the seasons, it’s Survival, with a deservedly capital S. But we add frills and lace and bonnets and baked treats and cartooned walls and parties with good food and good people. Pain eases, we are in survival mode. Then we endure something scientifically, physically, miraculously extraordinary…. We succumb to the revving and reviving of our survival ignition. As soon as we see what we’ve just done, we realize we lived through, and encountered, this bold moment in life, earning gold coins allowing us to continue this game, sweaty and happy, with a screaming and scared first place metal clinging to your chest. Need another example? I see. A broken heart. Would you really have changed that fast first love, knowing you would eventually lose it? Remove the first kiss, the “accidental” touching of pinkies that turns into a hand-held clutch, sending chills down your weak spine? Hell no. You’ll take the chance of surviving a broken heart because the moments before are just spectacular. Just ask the two pooches sharing spaghetti in the alley. Even they know you can’t save time, you can only spend it. Live in the lovely moments. It will allow you energy and courage to later tuck in that pinky and launch the middle finger when that sweet heart of yours gets crushed. Surviving a heart with an inconsistent rhythm of throb-to-sob-awake-to-break is simply the best ride on this Survival-sphere, believe it or ought (to). Persevere. It’s the point. The whole enchilada washed down with a spicy margarita. You didn’t ask for spice? How ever will you…survive? Reduce the pain, heighten the pleasures, salt the rim, wash, repeat. A small town crime/murder mystery book with an element of romantic relationships. It’s set in the U.K., so when he’s referencing places, it’s quite nice to know where he’s referring to. There’s an unusual off beat humour during his interactions with the characters in the book, so I was giggling at points I wouldn’t have giggled at just from reading. I think the bulk of the book being read by Bob Mortimer also helps and Emily’s part is covered by Sally Phillips is a nice touch. I found myself invested in Emily’s backstory when it switched to her point of view as it contained darker elements, that you don’t necessarily expect to experience. There’s enough threat to make you feel on edge and race through the pages, but overall it’s a lighthearted and enjoyable read. I enjoyed a futuristic read that seemed genuinely plausible as I am not a huge fan of far fetched sci fi content 🤖 An easy entertaining read. An easy laugh out loud read. Its a story about a drug addict in denial and her journey on self discovery and recovery after she’s been dropped off at a rehab centre by her worried family who flew to New York and brought her back to Ireland . So she finds herself at this rehab place where she thinks she will be rubbing shoulders with celebs and sipping champagne in a jacuzzi but instead it’s nothing like she imagined and full of odd quirky characters with addictions . She immediately feels she doesn’t belong because she doesn’t believe that she has a problem . All the characters are funny especially Rachel . I couldn’t stop laughing . ✍️ Tips for making information accessible 👨🦽🧑🦯 If you want to make people with additional needs feel welcome in your church or community, I'm sharing some easy ways to make information easier to read and understand. Tip 2. Use a simple layout ✅ - Some people with additional needs have difficulty processing visual information, so a clear, uncluttered page design is very important if you want to help everyone make sense what they are seeing and reading. - Separate sections of text to make it easier to read, and use 1.5 or double spacing between lines. Resist the urge to fill the whole page - instead, leave lots of blank space and give everything its own clear place. For some people, a cream background can be more helpful than pure white. - Colour is really helpful to make things stand out and add interest, but don't overdo it. Any design elements should make things clearer rather than more confusing, so for example avoid putting text on top of images or patterns. - Think about how you position pictures and symbols to create a predictable design. It can help to put pictures on one side of the page and text on the other. In my easy read book 'Living Well With God' I put the pictures in the same place on each page. Don't worry if the end result looks a bit boring to you. If it's clear and easy to follow, then you have succeeded. :) More accessibility tips coming soon! Almond 5✨ There is a part in our brain that looks like Almond, which is responsible for all our emotions, happiness, sadness, anger, fear and all of them. Yunjae’s Almond is dysfunctional, so he cant feel anything. Throughout this book, no emotions is discussed whilst making you emotional. I cannot emphasise enough about how good this book is. This story is of Bree and Archer who lost his voice at 7 when he was shot. I admire Bree’s strength and endurance and shows what being brave means. She loves Archer immensely and converses with him through sign language as they navigate their life together. I really liked this book and was an easy read. There’s other books following like Travis and Falling for Gage. I might get onto these 2 books eventually.
