Can you believe this is an improvement?? 😬😝 Two years into this journey and I’m finally not terrified of a squat snatch... Sure I’ll do a power snatches, overhead squats, Sots press etc. but the squat snatch? Yeah-no 😬 for duos years it’s been this elusive Loch Ness for me. For 2 yrs I’ve avoided it like the plague . First reason, I couldn’t get down there. Second, once I did get down, I couldn’t get back up. I’ve trembled at the idea of jacking my jaw or re-injuring my shoulders from years of abuse on my body in sports. been afraid to drop the bar behind me or hit my buddha belly and esp wonk my pubic bone (which I tend to do when I fully open up for the movement without hesitation).Hurts like mother . Its like my brain knows how it’s supposed to do it but my body is a dummy muscles to get there. But one thing I tell myself is “jenna you are as stubborn as an ox, so stubborn in fact that you wont give up on trying and you won’t give in to your fears anymore.” . Lifting is, often, between the ears but there are also days where your body acts like it forgot what to friggin do even after days and weeks and months of showing up, and working your ass off and giving it all you got. But there’s nothing like@the feeling of getting that one lift ‘right’ after getting 50 wrong . ps. Yes coaches politely corrected all the mistakes here.. Yesterday I got in a disagreement with an the famous Bella bar while doing a modified Hulk WOD. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️Talk about an amazing grip. 😍😍😍 I’m very blessed to have had the opportunity to try it out. I loved every minute of the workout. I found things I definitely need to work on. I was not happy with my performance but I can only improve. In my defense, I was trying to protect the doggies from getting smushed.
