One Dark Window and Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig. Posting together because they were both 5 ⭐️ reads for me, and also I am about 10 pics behind in actually posting my updates 😂 The Shepherd King duology is a gothic romantasy about the kingdom of Blunder. A town that has been separated from the rest of the world by a mystical mist. The unique magic in this world comes from a deck of cards similar to a tarot deck, called Providence Cards. But all magic used comes at a cost, and any person discovered to have magic outside of the cards, is sentenced to death. We follow Elspeth who was infected with magic which has been kept hidden by her family. Only when the 12 Providence Cards have been reunited, will the town curse be broken and the mists disappear. Sorry for my very average description of an extremely unique and fantastical series. These books are just too good to put into words. I was gripped from the start and felt like I had fallen into a dark fairy tale. Review: None of This is True by Lisa Jewell | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the best thrillers I have read in a long time! Both of the main characters seem completely unassuming, but as the book continues the skeletons in the closets reveal themselves. Each twist was more shocking than the last and I never could have expected how the story ends. This is one I would definitely recommend as the audiobook as the full cast of narrators and podcast inserts make for a completely emersive experience. Put this one on your list if you like dark and twisty thrillers and true-crime podcasts!

Audiobook review for Us After You *I received this audiobook for free in exchange for my review* I went into this book not knowing much about it. I didn’t know there are books for other characters in the story. Had I read those previously, my review could have been different. However this book is also marketed as a stand alone so I reviewed it based on that. I didn’t feel like I jumped into the deep end. It felt like I was pushed and every time I got up for air I was dragged back under. The content that was available was pretty good. However, there’s holes. Gaps in the story. There’s so many time jumps that it’s actually little difficult to follow. There’s no clear indication of how much time has passed and when. Nothing ever felt finished or complete. And because of this I didn’t build any sort of relationship or connection to the characters. Today’s post goes out to the book that got me back into reading. Well, one of them at least. This is London Prep and it is a world you will not want to leave. Lucky you, all 8 books are out now and you don’t have to have such agonizing wait times in between each addition. The story follows Mallory who’s from New York and does an exchange program in London. She stays with a boy’s family whose sister is also on exchange, but in Greece. Did I forget to mention this boy is ridiculously good looking? Oh and so are his friends. One of which she might have accidentally met before being properly introduced. There’s drama. There’s humor. And there’s so much to relate to. This series has something for everyone. I had high hopes for The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers and whilst I still rated it 3 ⭐️ it just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The book started off promising but the lead character was a little weak in my opinion. Whilst we saw this story from multiple points of view, I found it made the story a little chaotic with its execution. The fmc does not seem to grow as a person and the romance aspect was very underwhelming and it was hard to get invested in their story. The pacing was great at the start and I thought it would be a higher star rating but from half way the book just kind of stagnated. It’s definitely more of a slow paced book I found, which made it an easy read, but not easy to binge read. LOVERS FROM THE PAST ✨ Looking through all my old photos from around the time I started my bookstagram 😮💨🥹 we were living on our converted bus 🚌 and I didn’t have access to the same activities as when we were stationary and living in a community 🖤 Books definitely entertained me and made me feel like myself again. Birthday Girl by penelope.douglas 🎂 My first read of 2024 and my first Penelope Douglas! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was such an easy read with great pacing. The tension right from the very moment our two MCs met was *chefs kiss*. I loved the slow burn and anticipation of what we all knew was coming. Pike Lawson is daddy af. He drove me a little crazy at times but he was forgiven because he's hot. I loved Jordan. All she wanted was someone to love her and to show her off to the world. I've been there girl. I get it. I loved her growth and how in the end she took no shit and stood her ground. Her maturity made the age gap seem less huge, helped by the fact that Pike was also a little immature due to becoming a dad so young and having to grow up quickly. Cole was a lil bitch who never deserved Jordan but I did enjoy his character growth in the end and I wish him all the best. The spice was top notch. Not too much and the perfect amount of teasing and anticipation that when it finally happened it was like fireworks. Very much enjoyed her little FaceTime stunt. I just finished Neon Gods by @katee_robert and whew 😮💨 Hades and Persephone are deliciously spicy! I haven’t read many retellings but I can say I loved this version of Persephone. Last year a coworker told me about @booksbrunchesandbooze and I was like “yeah I’m down” and rediscovered my love for reading. I have learned that audiobooks help long car rides go by much quicker and add some excitement to cleaning the house. I have fallen in love with my @amazonkindle especially when I fall asleep reading. I’ve read a lot of mixed feelings about this little duet but I personally enjoyed it! Below is my Goodreads review on It Ends With Us. Can we also appreciate the play on these titles once they’re dropped in the book? 🤌 ————————— Colleen weaves relatable characters plagued by complicated and dangerous topics that are a reality for many people. It’s easy to judge a situation on the outside when you haven’t been through it. We’re all just people trying to do our best. Lily Bloom is challenged to extinguish or succumb to the cycle of domestic violence because it’s all she saw growing up. She always judged her mother for not leaving until she came under fire of the same Situation from the one she loves, the loving, funny, attractive, and charismatic Ryle Kincaid. It makes her question everything she’s ever felt and this novel is a testament to the REAL feelings that survivors go through. By the time you’re done with this book you are going to feel like you know each character intimately. While I disagree that there ARE truly bad people, not good people who make bad decisions, I can understand the complexity of that line and it makes you rethink your take on human behavior and that every situation is different. This book had me in my Feelings from the first chapter and you’ll keep turning those pages all through the night to find out how we’ll reach that happy ending. Review: Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo • ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ • I absolutely DEVOURED this book. a dark fantasy with murder, mystery and a lot of secrets, it keeps you thinking the whole time while you’re trying to work out what’s actually going on. I was also really drawn to the magic elements in this book and loved the main characters ‘abilities’. I was quite shocked when I realised this was the same author of Six of Crows as it’s definitely a lot darker!
