#currentlyreading #readingintranslation I found this book on a thrift stand and I was immediately curious for different reasons: first of all, itโs set in Brussels, and I will happen to be in Brussels and other cities in Belgium for my upcoming trip, and I like reading books related to the places I am going to visit; secondly, the plot is so damn surreal that as soon as I read it I knew I absolutely had to read this book, itโs perfectly up my alley. The Christmas Dress by Courtney Cole I think I managed to make myself wait a whole three hours after buying this before starting it and I absolutely loved reading this story - it was exactly what I look for in a book around this time of year. The story flowed smoothly, the character development was fun to see progress, and it left me with that nice and fuzzy feeling that I have come to crave. The book follows Meg who returns to her hometown after her father passes away and leaves her the apartment building he owned. Being the last left in her family makes her reluctant to leave her career in the fashion business to return the the building that is home to so many good, but painful memories. Ellie is a longtime resident and comes across dress of hers that also has painful memories attached to it, but has a hard time of letting it go in her mission to reduce her belongs in preparation for moving to a nursing home. After Meg and Ellie become friends, Ellie makes a deal with Meg that requires Meg to wear it to a special occasion before the end of the year. The dress sparks inspiration in Meg, and with a fashion show as their last hope on the horizon, she rushes to prepare while trying to keep the lights on, and attempting to restore glory to the historic building. Yesterday was a bit of a write off... it's been a weird week for Ayah and she has not been sleeping very well, which means neither have we. I canโt seem to get my mind to shut off with everything going on. I had set a goal and I promised myself that if I hit that goal I was going to buy an Aria. Well.
