🌕🕸️Queen of Air and Darkness 🕸️🌕 3/5 i had to sit on this one after i finished it for a while. honestly, it was a let down in comparison to the other two incredible books that make up this trilogy. my biggest concerns were 1. building up to absolutely nothing, 2. a strange, filler plot, and 3. the return of a villain we’ve previously seen. this will contain spoilers Jesus CHRIST‼️‼️ bringing back Sebastian actually had me rolling my eyes so hard. i did not like him as a main character in the mortal instruments and i literally rolled my eyes when we showed up in Thule. speaking of Thule… what a strange plot device to waste 150 pages. seeing Livvy was interesting, at least, but had little to no affect on the development of Julian nor Emma. it would have also been interesting to go deeper into how Jace has changed in a world without Clary. but of course, we do not see that. i wish, instead of saving it for a cliff hanger, we explored Jace in Thule so much more. this felt like CC’s attempt at an End Game style, all-characters-involved type of book. every damn BITCH that has ever been mentioned in a CC book made an appearance in this installment. some were really well done like Alec. i thought it made complete sense for his arc throughout the story. others like Simon and Izzy just felt flat and unlike the characters i loved in their original series. on the subject of Christina, Mark, and Kieran… you know… do what you want queens. i support it. go crazy. on the subject of emma and Julien… i just felt so underwhelmed. ALL that torture and yearning and love and loss for their solution to be so simple just IRKS me so bad. a lot of books fall victim to this but this just felt like a betrayal. ALSO, the AWFUL curse just making them giants was laughable. like truly laughable. i wish we could have just been given a bigger and better understanding of what their life will be like now after so much suffering. it is not realistic or satisfying to me for them to just continue on as if life has always been like this. where is the explanation to their family?? where is the eruption of emotion ?? just felt a little empty but like i still had a good time

🇬🇧My favorite part of the series so far! I adored the Blackthorn and their unity, their bonds. The story is one woven in sorrow, grief and struggle. The aftermath of the war is not glossed over and we get to experience actual depiction of how extreme people try to seize power as soon as there’s an opportunity to play on people’s fears and hatred. The tone of this trilogy is much darker, Emma is rightfully guarded, Julian is in over his head trying to keep his family together and as if their lives weren’t complicated enough already, they love each other when they know they shouldn’t and murders are happening in LA ! I especially loved the world of Thule, there is something so gut wrenching about ever imagining how our heroes could have failed. The Dark Artifice is exceptionally good and generous with the tears you will shed. Go for it ! 🇫🇷Ma partie préférée de la série jusqu’à présent ! J’ai adoré les Blackthorn, leur unité, leurs liens. L’histoire est tissée de chagrin, de douleur et de lutte. Les conséquences de la guerre ne sont pas passées sous silence et nous avons l’occasion de voir comment des personnes extrêmes tentent de s’emparer du pouvoir dès qu’elles ont l’occasion de jouer sur les peurs et la haine des gens. Through Dianas story, the author clearly shows the audiences the difficulties a trans individual can face. Diana was disgraced from the majority of the Shadowhunter community, not just because of her transition but because she had used mundane medicine to do so. Now more than ever do we need to show support for the trans community, with laws being passed in UK making it much more difficult to get access to puberty blockers. ⭐️⭐️ I struggled with what to rate this because there were some parts (few and far between) that I really liked! Like the ending with Alec and Magnus 🥰 Overall though, after reading like 15 other installments of this series, this one was so hard for me to get through 😬 it took me re-borrowing this like 4 times from Libby. Dustin Thao is really a great writer and it was my very first time reading a book of emotional and contemporary fiction genre! ‧₊˚ ☁️⋅♡𓂃 ࣪ ִֶָ☾. This book included a beautiful story with flashbacks to the past and wishes of a future that can’t be. There was love, happiness, warmth infused in every page you flipped. I loved all the characters, especially Mika. I loved to see the development and raw emotions that we got. ‧₊˚ ☁️⋅♡𓂃 ࣪ ִֶָ☾. There was so much going on in less than 300 pages, following Julie and Sam throughout several points in their lives and relationship, and it all felt so realistic, despite the slight magical realism going on after Sam’s death. Okay lovely people!!! Today you are getting one of my favorite artworks I have ever done! I have wanted to draw the car scene between Emma and Jules for forever but could never find a reference photo that could capture it. I have mentioned before that I have aphantasia so I can’t seen anything in my imagination and I can only think in words never pictures therefore when I draw I have to be looking at something or else I literally can’t draw anything. So after probably two years of trying to draw this scene I finally settled on using the beautiful art from @cassiejp that she did for Will and Tessa’s wedding night. I would like to make it clear that I did not trace or copy her art just used it as a reference for the positions the characters were in. I normally never use artwork as references and just use photos I find on Pinterest but because this is an exception I want to make sure the OG artist gets the credit she deserves because she is amazing!!! On a separate note, this art took me nearly seven hours, I have never battled so hard to get an art right. I am so obsessed with the lighting (a task I am trying to get better at) and over all I am just so proud of the final product! Sono una persona che necessità di tantissimo tempo per studiare e intendo proprio molto di più ed essendo anche un’insicura cronica ho cominciato a rimandare gli esami, perché “se lo faccio la prossima volta sarò più preparata”… certo. Comunque dopo un’esame mi ritrovo in libreria a vedere questa edizione di TDA, che adoro, ma diciamocelo non mi serviva. Così mi sono detta “quando finisci tutti gli esami ti compri questa edizione”. Beh gli esami sono finiti e l’edizione a un anno di distanza è stata comprata 🥹.
