(review) forget me not, julie soto - 4.5⭐️s (the cover is misleading, but this has nothing to do with vampires or anything remotely supernatural, just a heads up!) where do i start with this book and what it’s done to me? should i tell you about the week i spent in a slump prior to picking this up, during which i started atleast 3 books that now sit untouched on my shelves? or should i tell you about how i read this in under 24hrs, during which i neglected all of my adult responsibilities? because yes, i did, and i can’t remember the last time i read with this feverish need to finish a romcom, probably back in jan, when i was in between the pages of you, with a view (i promise to write a review soon!) which sort of elicited the same madness, but that’s a story for another day. forget me not tells you the story of elliot, a florist and ama, a wedding planner, who were once in love- a match made in heaven? no? weddings and flowers go hand in hand like milk and cereal so what could’ve gone wrong?- you alternate between two of their povs, ama’s during the present day, nearly three years since they parted ways and elliot’s starring their past, since the first time he’s noticed her. i liked ama from the first page, driven and sunshine-y with a very optimistic outlook on anything and everything, though it took me a few chapters to warm upto elliot who comes off as prickly and rude in the beginning but is just a really guarded marshmallow with social anxiety. i’m not going to sit here and tell you this was perfect, because it wasn’t, i can pinpoint to you parts of the story and dialogues that you might have beef with because i understand, but ama is all of us at some point in our lives, you see yourself in her commitment issues and her fear of growing close to people because she’s never had anything stable and solid to look upto growing up, and elliot, this six feet, gorgeous hunk of a man who is caring, attentive and so in-tune with his feelings but is also insecure and scared of not being enough (his monologues made me feel so seen and he was just perfect), just two very real characters coming together to make this story piercing. ~ continued in the comments

I lost a poem. How do you lose a poem?! I've been checking every copy of my poetry book, including beta copies, just to see if it somehow didn't get included in an updated version or I put it in a wrong version. I checked a separate document I'm keeping of the cut poems. I can't find the damn thing anywhere. And somehow I missed the fact that it's been missing for *over a month.* The worst part is that it's one of my favourites and I completely forgot it existed until this morning. How do you find a missing poem?! Aside from that, I've gotten a bit waylaid from my anticipated cover reveal and release dates. (review) we all want impossible things, catherine newman the title, we all want impossible things is quite literally what the book is about, edi and ash have been best friends for decades, now edi is dying and ash is trying to hold onto what little is left of her bestfriend, you get one messy character and her equally messy way of handling everything in her life and lots of walking-down-the-memory-lane moments. i think i understand the pacing and writing better now that i’m done with the book, because we are looking at things from our main character’s eyes who is infact looking at her own life from the sidelines, so that tone of detachment was warranted and she did pull herself together by the end, too tidily infact but given the length of the book, that realization had to happen sooner than later! but i can’t with a straight face tell you i loved that ending, because i have mixed feelings, i could see what happened in the end- after her bestfriend’s death, no that is not a spoiler, that is literally what the story is about- happening a few weeks, or months or years down the lane, not just when it did because it was inconsistent (and rushed!!!) with ash’s character arc and i hated that she suffered no consequences for her actions at times and that everything was wrapped up too neatly, like squeaky neat. 😬 and the first hundred pages are a buildup to the final act, but i wish it was just more fleshed out and we spent more time with the characters for the final act to be more impactful than it was, but again, for 200 pages, the author did do a great job despite how slow and all-over-the-place the fmc was in the beginning, but that’s not to say this was a bad book, a little flawed but good books generally are i suppose. despite the delicate subject matter, this was equal parts sensitive and hilarious and given the chance, it might tug at your heartstrings and leave you feeling warm!

Luke’s port removal is this week! Although this is a time for celebrating, I find myself engulfed in an ocean of emotions reflecting on the tumultuous journey of the past three years. The fear and uncertainty that once clouded our days seem both distant and near, as relief, gratitude, and lingering apprehension mingle in the silent darkness of the night. I’m caught in a whirlpool of memories, each wave bringing back the challenges we’ve faced, the milestones we’ve achieved, and the countless times we’ve clung to each other for strength. As the reality of the final surgery to remove his port approaches in a few days, it’s not just about looking back but also about facing the uncertainty of the future with a fortified spirit. on what it means to be woman most days, part 1: transparent ✨ a ramble? a story? a yapping memorandum? just something along those lines! did my fingers move on their own accord as i’m writing this? yes, it’s been so long since i penned down anything remotely fictional, and i forgot how freeing that is, to just write, anything everything that is not just a review or a caption. i am still very skeptical about posting this, but recently i’ve been on a roll and have decided to push my boundaries a tiny bit more than i normally would, that’s where all the courage is coming from, it might wash away at any point and i might delete it at the speed of light when that happens, but for now, i’m taking that step to post/say/write what i want to, because this is my space and i get to do whatever i like on here! (i don’t make the rules!) will i be writing more parts in continuation to this?? well, that would come as a surprise for both you and i if i do end up writing them, i mean that is the plan but let’s see how far that writing itch will stretch this time because sometimes it’s just a one time thing and then it refuses to surface for a spell but this has sort of unlatched something in me and now you’ll probably see a lot of impromptu content, don’t tell me I’ve not given you a heads up, because i just did! ~ also a little thank you note ✨ when i started this page, nearly 10 months ago, i had zero clue as to what i’ll be posting or talking about, but now nearly 600 of you are on here, agreed it might not seem like a huge number to most of you but when i started out, that first 50 meant the world to me, and then that first 100, 200… 600 and now almost 700 of you still mean the world to me! and yes, i’ll stop my yapping right here and let you be, april is being very kind already and i can’t wait to find my writing groove or whatever that is that keeps me going, really hoping april treats each one of you kindly and sending you bucket loads of good juju because i’m feeling a lot of love and i’m in the mood to spread it far and wide!
