Balance is beautiful. One of the reasons โdietsโ donโt work is because theyโre not sustainable long-term, and they tell you that you can never eat your favorite foods again. Truth is, you CAN eat a healthier and more nutrient-dense diet and still enjoy your favorite foods that donโt necessarily have the highest โhealthโ rankings. Instead of eating a โwholeโ cheese quesadilla, I had half and replaced the other half with a salad. This combination is not only less calorically dense and more nutrient dense, but will probably help keep me full for longer because of the additional volume and fiber. I also felt satisfied after this meal because I had the thing I was craving โค๏ธ Compared to having just a โwholeโ cheese quesadilla, this version of the meal eliminated around 300 calories, 10g saturated fat, and 25g refined carbs. I also gained 5 grams of fiber, some heart healthy fats, and other nutrients. In total, the meal provided me with 450 calories of fuel for my body with 20 grams of protein to help keep me feel satiated and to help make the energy last. BONUS I love the la banderita brand of carb counter tortillas- they are super soft, half the calories, have a whopping 11g fiber per ONE tortilla, and can be a great way to make some of your favorite meals more nutrient-dense.
