📚NEW BOOKS📚 I bought two new books I’m hoping to fit into my TBR next month. I read The Great Believers a couple of years ago and it quickly became one of my favorite books. I still think about it on a regular basis, so when I heard Rebecca Makkai was coming out with a new book I preordered it immediately! The synopsis of I Have Some Questions For You (an academic setting, a podcast, a murder) would have caught my attention no matter who wrote it, but since it’s been written by Makkai, I think it’s going to be on a whole other level! I ordered The Whispering Muse because Laura Purcell is one of my auto buy authors. I loved her first three novels! I still have The Shape of Darkness to read and now I’m very happy to have her latest book too. Are you planning to read either one of these? BEEN ON THE TBR FOREVER ❣️ How does it make you feel to have books on your shelves that you haven't ever read, despite having them for years? (Don't overthink this if it stresses you out?!) ❣️ I get excited when I remember books I have that I know I really wanted to read when I bought them!! And I love having beautiful shelves and lots of choice. My sister buys them, reads them and then gives them away and buys a new one! Sometimes I think that would be ace, then I remember I would miss my shelves! I am a big fan of Greg Iles so I have no idea why I haven't read these yet?! I do really want to read the Natchez series soon...they are all chunky though so it will take some dedication!! I've had another day off today and I've really not done much! I went to post some parcels this morning and bought some bacon for our bacon and egg lunchtime sandwiches....then I've done 3 loads of washing but not very much else!! I haven't even read my book...shocker! I did put all of my @oktoberdotsshop bookmarks into a file today with the inserts that Babet uses and they look awesome!! I need more inserts to get the rest away but I love it! There are a few odd ones missing from sets which makes me a little sad but I still love it! 👻 Well....it's my birthday tomorrow! I am officially getting old! It's a low key birthday weekend celebration, with @whatjodiereads today and then more family tomorrow. Guess who found used books stores while on vacation?? I’m so excited because other than the library sales, we don’t have a used book store where I live and I feel like I hit the jackpot while visiting family in South Carolina. I was super excited to finally visit a 2nd and Charles, which is where I got Runaway Max and the Blind Date With a Book (I still have to open that one). While visiting a Games Workshop gaming store for my husband, the manager was awesome and told us about Mr. Kay’s books and I was in heaven! Thank goodness for local nerds 💙. I was so excited to get copies of Hidden Pictures, The House of Leaves, the Talisman and more! The only book in the pile that isn’t used is Ugly Love. These are from a couple of weeks ago.....Dune because it's everywhere and I'd been talking to @jamsbookjournal about it, Pages and Co because the lovely Eliie @bookmadbarlow has been raving about it so didn't want to miss out! Then I love @jpcarterauthor books (writing as Alex Pine) so had to get this one!! Great additions to my shelves me thinks!! Back to work today after 2 lovely days off. My flat was cleaned on Tuesday with some chill time and yesterday I did 95% of my Christmas shopping.....just a few more bits and my cards to buy and by the end of the week I should have everything! (Pending deliveries and collections 😂) I actually went into town to do about 85% of it too....for a change, I normally do it online but thought I'd have a morning in town. New genres and books? 💙 AOTD - Mainly on here but The Atlas Six was recommended to me by @libraryofcalcifer so knowing his taste in books, I had to give it a go! Hope I love it, I'm planning to read it before the end of the year. Sorcery of Thorns is a bookstagram staple so I needed that one in my life 😂 On my hour bus ride today, I have my book ready in my bag so I'll be pulling that out shortly. I have barely touched my books this week as I've been putting all my spare time into Animal Crossing!! What a time hogger that is?! I am loving it though....and I'm looking forward to my island being bigger!! Later to bed tonight so hopefully will get a bit more done!! 🎃🎃🎃 LONGER READ 🎃🎃🎃 #rfaboct21 👻 QOTD - Do you like big chunky books? 👻 AOTD - I do like a chunk of a book....and this series is definitely a chunky one! I'm waiting for the third one to come out in paperback at the end of the month, then I'll probably binge it later this year. I'm really looking forward to it so I'm hoping it leaves up to the hype 😊 We've had a lovely afternoon today, we went to visit a wildlife park for a couple of hours and then went to Ikea!!! I needed 3 more Billy shelves for my bookcases and I always love having a wander round Ikea! There was so much stuff I wanted, but I only picked up a gonk, a phone holder, two photoframes and a train set for my nephew for Christmas ❤ I was good! I read this morning too, about 50 pages of the 100 I need to read for my work buddy read! I'm about to try and read but all I wanna do ia add to my journal 🤣 These books are high on my tbr for this year, I had All The Stars and Teeth on Sept's pile but jever got round to it....hopefully soon!
