🤍 Thriller Flatlay 🤍 Had a very long and busy day today - feeling absolutely exhausted and ready for bed! Thrillers will always have my heart and will always be my go to genre and all these pictures are on my physical TBR (plus many, many more 🫢). • I’m currently reading The Sleeper Lies by Andrea Mara, and I feel like I picked such a wintertime thriller for the heatwave we have had this weekend but I’m still enjoying it! • I’m currently listening to My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. I’m in the last couple of hours and it’s finally picked up but honestly I haven’t loved this and I’m a bit gutted that I’ve fallen for the hype 🫢 • What are you reading today? Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham {Review} 4 ⭐️ Who needs a spring thriller?! It’s been quite some time since I read a mystery/thriller and this was the perfect one for this time of year. This book was fast paced and so easy to picture in my mind. This story takes place in Louisiana and for me it sometimes gave off a similar setting to Where the Crawdads Sing. This story follows Chloe, and about 20 years ago, her father gets sent to prison for murdering 6 young girls. Now, around the anniversary of these events, more girls start to turn up dead and something about it feels a little too familiar. This story really grasped my attention quickly. It took a bit to really build the story but I enjoyed learning the dynamics between the characters and within the family. I had a few different theories on how the end would play out, and while I was partially correct, there were a lot of things that did surprise me. Overall, this was a solid physiological thriller. If you’re a fan of classical murder mysteries I think you’ll enjoy this one. It wasn’t totally groundbreaking, but I still had a lot of fun. I am definitely interested in reading more books by this author.💛

I recently read Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell and when I tell you this book was CRAZY. 👀 It’s a thriller novel that follows a Mother who unfortunately loses her youngest daughter, Ellie. Despite being believed that Ellie simply ran away, her Mother has a growing suspicion that there’s more to what happened, especially after she meets a handsome gentleman at a cafe with a daughter who looks almost identical to Ellie! The whole story was fast paced and exciting. It kept me on edge and kept me guessing until the very last pages. It was somewhat disturbing and weird but I personally liked it… maybe that just makes me weird, haha. 😆 Either way, I rated this book a big five out of five stars! I can’t wait to get my hands on some more books by Lisa Jewell! . . . #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookcommunity #bookcommunityofinstagram #thrillerbook #thrillerbooks #thrillerbookstagram #thrillerbooksofinstagram #thrillerbookrecs #thrillerbookrecommendations #lisajewellbook #lisajewellnovels #lisajewellthenshewasgone #thenshewasgonebook

Thriller Thursday: There’s nothing sweet about what goes on in these books…. Thrillers where a lot goes on inside their homes…Check these out 📚 Question: Do you enjoy one big plot twist in the end or many plot twists in a story? I’ve grown to prefer mini plot twists throughout the story! It keeps me engaged and wanting more 😀. #thrillerbookrecommendations #bookrecs #bookish #bookstagram #explore #thrillerbooks #thrillerthursday

Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth I really got into this book and could NOT put it down! One of those rare books that you lose track of time and get the “you’re still reading?”! It is one of my favorite thrillers that o have read in a while. I enjoyed learning about each character in the past and how it lead to the present. It really came together in the end with a somewhat happy ending. There were some dark subjects and triggers throughout the book. 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷/5 #darlinggirls #sallyhepworth #thrillerbooks #thrillerbookrecommendations #thrillerbooksof2024 #iloverthrillers #thrillerbookstagram

🏘️ Book Review 🏘️ Andrea Mara is the queen of missing children story lines, I’m sure! This hooked me from the first page and got me out of a reading slump so fast! This book was full of neighbourhood drama, deception, twists and turns. It gave me desperate housewives vibes, but with a Dublin twist! It’s told in dual timelines which is an instant win for me, and although there is a whole cast to get to grips with I found it settled into my head about 1/3 in (before that I would have to skip back to check who’s who 🫢). Also, I found the pacing was just to my liking and there was not a moment where I was bored or reaching for my phone! Andrea Mara has become an auto-buy author for me (let’s be honest she was once I read NOSAT) and I’ve just preordered her latest novel! All Her Fault is eyeing me up from the shelf as we speak, so look out for a review soon 🤍 • ☆☆☆☆☆ Hide and Seek by Andrea Mara Length: 337 pages • #thrillers #thrillerbooklover #thrillerbookstagram #thrillerbooks #thrillerbook #thrillerbookreview #bookreviewer #booksbooksbooks #bibliophile #bookworm #booknerd #thrillerbooksaddict #bookrecommendations #thrillerbookrecommendations #booksbooksbooks

💫Look Closer by David Ellis 📚📖 Trick or Treat!👻🎃 👀I was really looking closer to guess the plot twist but I failed! The story is about the murder of socialite Lauren in Grace Village on Halloween night. Simon, a law professor, and Vicky, who works for Safe Haven seems to be an ordinary couple from Grace Park Chicago. However, nothing is as it seems and every one is manipulating each other, especially with the involvement of a $21 million bond of Simon’s inheritance. As Vicky encounters an investor named Christian what was her motive? The connections between Simon, Vicky, Lauren, and Christian become increasingly intertwined. Each character harbors secrets, undergone personal losses, and obsessed in seeking revenge, leading to manipulation between them. The concealed truths is evolving as the story progresses. I really liked how multiple POV’s including the detective’s point of view for the murder were employed skillfully offering a captivating and suspenseful read. The character development of Simon and Vicky is particularly well-done, drawing readers deeper into the mystery. With its clever twists and turns, I was eager to uncover the truth about who is truly obsessed with revenge and who is conning whom. It’s a thrilling and tactfully written thriller that kept me guessing until the very end. ‼️TW: animal abuse, torture, kidnapping, canabalism, murder‼️Near the woods, far from any road, stands a lone farm house: the Morrow House. Inside this house lives a family with dark and disturbing ways. However, one of them is not like the rest. Teenage Micheal is determined to break free from his family and the secrets they hide. Many girls have gone missing off the side of the road, and their final screams in Micheal’s backyard are just reminders of how different he is. When he meets Alice, a pretty girl he begins to have feelings for, he is reminded how badly he wants to escape his family. However, his brother Rebel, will do whatever it takes to keep Micheal in his place. This book was a long overdue read for me, but honestly, I was scared. Was this book as disturbing as I anticipated? No. Was it the most disturbing book I’ve ever read? Not even close. Was it disturbing at all? Of course. I can’t do animal abuse and this contained animal abuse which was majorly hard to stomach for me. However, besides that, if you can stomach tender is the flesh or a certain hunger, you’ll be fine with this one. If you read if you tell, you’ll DEFINITELY be fine with this one. I really enjoyed it but found it somewhat predictable. Even though, parts were predictable the last few chapters were hard not to still be stunned over. All of the characters were hatable besides Alice and Lucy but Micheal is another story. It was so hard to love Micheal but not hate him at the same time and his final thoughts left me absolutely gutted. The Morrow story is sickening but it is worth the read if you love a disturbing book. goodreads rating: 3.94⭐️ my rating: 4⭐️

As promised, I’m making a conscious effort to highlight AAPI authors and showcase my absolute favorites during the month of May. In a world where representation matters, I was so happy to discover Jennifer Hillier last year. I borrowed this book from the library last January, and I’ve been in the hunt to own it ever since. I finally found a great copy a few weeks ago and I’m so happy to include it in my home library as the cover is STUNNING! If you’re looking for a can’t put down psychological crime thriller, I highly recommend Jar of Hearts. The Woman on the Pier by @bpwalterauthor Published by @onemorechapterhc ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review: Before I read this I was in such a reading slump and this book saved me. The storyline is sinister and dark with a very grey morale throughout. Finding out your daughter went to London to meet a boy behind your back, and while she is stood up by him it leads to her death of a terrible terrorist attack. But do you blame the boy? If he went to see her would she still be alive? And would you seek revenge on him? From the first chapter I was hooked, learning about what was going on and thinking about the mother’s perspective on what I would’ve done if this was my daughter. With the mystery and drama elements the story unraveled to something even darker than anticipated. I really loved the main character as she really shows how far a mother’s love could take you even if that means losing yourself in the process. I read the author’s previous book the dinner guest and out the two I certainly preferred this book. Please check trigger warnings but If you are not easily disturbed and like a suspenseful novel, I recommend this one. ☕️Have you read this book?☕️ #thewomanonthepier #thewomanonthepierbpwalters #suspensefulthriller #thrillerbookrecommendations #5starreads #honestbookreviews #bookreview

04.05.24 || 📚 The Shards by Bret Easton Ellis 🌟 Review: 5/10 ⚖️ Would I recommend it? No, I can’t in good conscience inflict this on someone else. 📖 Would I re-read it? No, please God, no! Synopsis: A serial killer known as The Trawler is terrorising the streets of LA in the early ‘80s, centred around this are Bret and his spoilt friends who live a life of decadence & excess, trying to make it through their final years of high school. My thoughts: The biggest disappointed in a long while: all vibes, no plot. To preface this review, I LOVE Bret Easton Ellis and have most of his work (including signed copies from a meet and greet) and photos with him! So I was *beyond* excited to hear the premise of this novel which is right up my street being set in the 80s, whose music and culture I am obsessed with. So, what went wrong? This was a 150 page story scraped thinly over 600 pages with a carving knife. If you were to pare down any actual plot, you’d be left with a decent story, not groundbreaking but decent. There was an insistence in this novel to give you 4-5 chapters of just these kids at school, doing drugs and lounging in pools, and then give you the meat of the story with a chapter and some good build up… that… just… didn’t… go… anywhere. I only made it past the finish line thanks to buddy reading this with @library_of_lauren, who made this read all the more enjoyable, otherwise I’d have DNF’d well before the 50% mark. I am so glad it’s over just to say I’ve survived it, but my god was it boring. It’s not even a ‘slow burn’ as NOTHING happens, so I couldn’t even recommend it to people who like a longer, slower read. I’ve heard it’s going to be turned into a TV series and the book reads like one; almost like a screenplay that tried to be turned into a book. There was such a focus on aesthetic that it really left any depth to characters and plot to drown in its own vibes. I know some people have really enjoyed this, so if you did — what am I missing, do you think? . . . #ukbookstagram #horrorreads #thrillerreads #theshards #breteastonellis #bookreviews #bookrecommendations #thrillerbookrecommendations #thrillerbookreview

He Started It by Samantha Downing 3 ⭐️ An all round good read. Nothing jaw dropping but it flowed well with the past and present of Eddie, Beth and Portia’s childhood. To get their inheritance from their grandfather they all must complete the road trip they took when they were younger. None of them want to be on the road again, reliving the time that ultimately changed their lives. But with $1 Million dollars each up for grabs they can’t turn down this trip. So long as they all go on the trip, complete it in order they did the first time and no one goes to jail, they all get their money. 📚Book Review📚 Title: The Locked Door Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 💨TLDR: would I recommend? I def would but it wouldn’t be my number 1 rec. 📖Synopsis: Nora Davis is a prominent surgeon who gets wrapped up into the cases of two murdered girls. Girls who are the same target type of her serial killer father. When the police find out that the two dead girls, she becomes the suspect. 💭My Thoughts: don’t get me wrong, it was entertaining, the issue I had with it is that it’s super formulaic. I also read the Inmate by her and it felt very similar. The twists, while I don’t see what the twist is, I can feel the set up if that makes sense. Like she leads you to believe it’s person A, then person B, but because I can see that set up I don’t become invested in the story. Then it is actually person Z and I’m not surprised because I know it’s not who the story leads you to believe. It was still a fun and quick read with a fun plot line. • • • • • #freidamcfadden #thelockeddoor #mysterybooks #thrillerbooks #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookreviewer #thrillerbooks #booksta #bookstagram #bookstagramcommunity #bookish #bookishcontent #bookishpost #bookstagrammer #booktok #readingcommunity #thrillerbookstagram #freidamcfaddenauthor #bookrecs #thrillerbookrecommendations

Kindle Thrillers 🖤💀 This is just a little sample of some of my favourite thriller/mystery books I've read on my kindle. I think I'm finding a new fave author in Loreth Anne Wright and I've read a few of her books lately and they're so good! The stories, while following a similar sort of format, are so so good and captivating! Like I said this is a part one of kindle thrillers and no doubt there'll be a part two, and physical stack coming soon! 🏷️ #thrillerbooks #thrillerbookrecommendations #thrillerbooksaddict #bookrecommendations #books #bookbooksbooks #kindlebooks #ebooks #kindleunlimited

💬 what’s your favourite book? 📚✨ … arguably one of the hardest questions to answer! I’ve been asked this question a lot recently and honestly the answer is always ‘which genre’ or ‘which author’ 🤔 but… gun to my head - it’s The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. I found this book completely randomly online in Jan 2023 and have recommended it to everyone I have spoken to since! I could not put it down! It was the second book I’d ever read that took me less than 24 hours to finish (Verity by Colleen Hoover was the first) - and since then I have read 16 more of her books! Short chapters, gripping characters, addictive story line, jaw dropping twists - the list goes on and she follows through in all of her books. I remember reading this book and my heart was just beating so fast - I felt so gaslit by Nina, she literally gave me an adrenaline rush! 🌪️ So, what is your favourite book?! And if you can’t pick you can narrow it down to a few 🤪 🏷️ #bookish #ukbookstagram #booktok #bookstagrammer #ukreader #bookstagram #readersgonnaread #reader #bookrecommendations #bookcover #instagrambooks #bookclub #virtualbookclub #booklover #bookloversofinstagram #freidamcfadden #thrillerbook #thrillerbookrecommendations #freidamcfaddenbooks #thehousemaid #thrillerreads #thrillerrecommendations #favouritebook #recommendedbook #booksta #whatsyourfavouritebook @fmcfaddenauthor

🕸️book review💀 The Reformatory by Tananarive Due is a historical horror novel set in Jim Crow Florida. The protagonist, Robert Stephens Jr. is sent to the Reformatory as a punishment following a trivial scuffle with a white boy. He soon finds out that this school is very, very haunted - but it’s not the ghosts, or haints, that he really should be worried about, as the living can be much more terrifying than the dead. This was a challenging read, tough to get through at times - and to think that so many people went through very similar experiences but in real life is just infuriating and heart-wrenching. The characters felt so real and well-rounded, and I immediately took a liking to Robert and his sister Gloria. Their relationship nearly brought me to tears several times - Gloria is probably one of the fiercest characters I’ve met, fighting with all her might to get her beloved little brother out of danger. The pacing starts as maybe a little slow in the beginning but boy, does it pick up. The last 100 or so pages made my heart rate speed up and I was simultaneously afraid to keep reading and unable to put the book down. The author really zoomes in on the scenes building up to the climax as we follow each character almost minute by minute, all the while uncertain about their survival. Rarely has a book kept me on edge in this way! This was definitely an unforgettable read, and I’m looking forward to picking up more by Tananarive Due. I would recommend this book not only to horror fans but to anyone looking for a deep and meaningful historical fiction novel that is also a page-turner. I especially recommend listening to the audiobook; the narrator, Joniece Abbott-Pratt does such an amazing job bringing all the characters to life 🫶🏻 Creepiness: 👻👻/5 Gore: 🔪/5 Scare factor: 🕷️🕷️.5/5 My rating: 🦇🦇🦇🦇.75/5 Do you enjoy reading historical fiction? 🌲Book Review🌲 *I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.* Marlee Bush's "When She Was Me" is a gripping psychological thriller that had me on the edge of my seat, eagerly trying to piece together what the hell was going on in the Tennessee woods where the story is set. Bush has woven a complex narrative that balances the knife edge between reality and memory, leaving the reader questioning everything and smacking them in the face during the last few pages. The book focuses on identical twin sisters, Cassie and Lenora. The two live together in one of three cabins at an isolated campground in Tennessee. There's a lot of mystery surrounding these two women, and that mystery permeates the story and is really what drives the narrative. Why are they living here? What are they hiding from? Why is Lenora afraid to go outside? When a murder occurs at the campground, suspicions arise. Was it one of the sisters, or is there something dark and dangerous lurking in the woods? The characters in the novel are compelling and multi-dimensional, with Cassie and Lenora standing out as particularly complex and intriguing. The bond between the twins is palpable, but an undercurrent of suppressed emotions and hidden truths adds an air of mystery to their relationship. I never knew who I could trust, and I absolutely loved that! One of this novel's strengths is how Bush slowly builds the tension, ratcheting up the suspense with each passing chapter. The pacing is relentless, and the tension keeps the reader guessing and second-guessing until the very end. The sudden reveal at the climax of the story took me by surprise and had me smacking myself in the forehead, wondering how I'd missed it. A more in-depth review is available on my blog (link in bio and story). Check the comments for the official synopsis. This book is published by @poisonedpenpress and releases on 5/7. Predictive text: I took my sister to the woods, and ___ I took my sister to the woods, and she said she had to poop. #bookstagram #bookreview #thrillerbooklovers #thrillerbookrecommendations #readabook

Michael, the brother, left for California long ago and has never looked back until now. Unbeknownst to Nicole and Michael, Laura has left a very cryptic message to Beth right before her last breath. When the sibling reunite, they uncover a VHS tape recorded by Laura that reveals their parents hid a very nasty secret all these years, a secret if revealed could upend all their lives. Beth and the siblings must solve the mystery and come to terms with who can be trusted and what can be shared. The chapters alternate among the three siblings, as well as Laura in 1999, where the nasty events begin to unfold. The chapters are short and suck you in right away with Jeneva’s amazing storytelling. I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t help but turn the pages fast enough to find out what’s been going down with this family (pun intended). Fun fact in case you didn’t know: Allen’s Grove is Jeneva’s hometown so hopefully her home is nothing like in the book 👀😹 —— 𝐐𝐎𝐓𝐃: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 90𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲? My first Heidi Perks book and I’m officially a fan! The Last Resort is a fabulous page-turner - now off to the bookshop to buy more! 📚😊🙌🏻🤩 Book Review 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Erin and Will are happily married, or are they? The story begins with Erin being rushed into hospital following a hit and run on the edge of the village late at night. Husband Will rushes to be by her side, panicked and bewildered. Looking back six months previously and we meet Maggie, their therapist as she prepares for the first session. Almost immediately she is intrigued by the couple. Why are they really there? Who is telling the truth and why is Erin seemingly so scared of her husband? Maggie gets more involved and tension hits home when Erin describes a necklace seen in Will’s car which is a carbon copy of description of the one her dead sister wore the night of her murder. As Maggie becomes desperate for the truth, she throws her own therapy rules out the window as Erin herself faces her past. No spoilers as always. But the ending won’t disappoint even when you think you’ve nailed it! #lastresort #thrillerbooks #thrillerbookrecommendations #thrillerbooksaddict #thrillerbookreview #heidiperks #booklover #booksbooksbooks #bookreview #bookstagram #bookstagrammer

Picked this up from a little free library in my neighborhood. I'm always looking for new thrillers, and especially local authors/settings. It was a riveting read and I found the ending pretty emotional. As I was reading reviews, I learned some people really hated the twist. It's personally not one of my favorite tropes, but in this case I felt it was well done and served the story. Have you read this/are you adding it to your TBR?

Happy Tuesday!!! Welcome to my stop in @randomthingstours for a new thriller, One of Us Knows 📖❤️📕 This book is a little different than other books this author has written. It’s a locked room thriller set on a remote island during a storm. The main person has multiple personalities and they each speak in the book. At the opening of the book one of the personalities wakes up post COVID and has no memory of the pandemic. I enjoyed the plot very much because it kept me guessing. The book has vivid writing and I felt as if I was on the island with the characters. #qotd What is your favorite genre? #thrillerbookreview #bookreview #thrillerbooks #bookstagram #thriller #bookrecommendations #books #bookworm #bookreviewer #thrillerbook #booklover #readersofinstagram #suspense #crimefiction #thrillerbookstagram #booknerd #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #suspensebooks #thrillerbookrecommendations #booklife #thrillerbooksaddict #bookrecs #randomthingstours #oneofusknows #alyssacole

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston 4⭐️ SO MUCH hype around this book, and I guess I get it, but maybe my expectations were also just a little too high. I legitimately went in expecting my next 5⭐️ read. But this was still a fun read!! A multiple timeline, slow burn thriller, and even though the “suspense” didn’t have me on the edge of my seat, I still liked the twists and the ending! This would be an excellent low-stress summer vacation book! The intensity is pretty on par with what to expect from a Reese’s book club book: nothing extremely scary, dirty or twisted; just a good, quick story and interesting characters. Quick Summary: Evie Porter is clearly keeping secrets from her new boyfriend, Ryan, but luckily she’s a professional when it comes to adopting aliases and working the targets her nameless/faceless criminal boss, Mr. Smith, assigns her to. But something is different about this job…. Not just because she’s getting attached to her mark, Ryan, and the type of life he could offer her, but because she’s starting to question Mr. Smith’s bigger picture plans when it comes to her to future… Do you think this book was worth the hype?

Book Reflection: The Teacher Author: Freida McFadden This was my first taste from this author and it had me thinking what have I been doing with my life without reading each and every book written by Freida McFadden? The Teacher was an absolute page-turner, filled with countless plot twists, some predictable and many were unexpected. I absolutely, throughly enjoyed reading it. I was captivated by its gorgeous opening lines and I haven't been let go until its very last page. The story was fast paced, which after reading several of the author's books, I noticed is her most treasured weapon. It was addictive, terrifying and really entertaining. The twist in this book is the kind that will have you talking to yourself at two in the morning. But it holds a sensitive topic and scenes that might make some readers uncomfortable. I loved the gripping effect the story has on me. The writing style that's new to the ones I'm used to. I love the easy to read short chapters that kept me swiping for more. Most of all, I love the amazing character development that unlocked the true colors of each and every psychopath in this delicious psychological thriller. The ending was surprisingly unexpected and it blew my mind in a way that I wanted to go back and reread the story in order to get everything right. Highly recommended to anyone in search of a thrilling and unforgettable story. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

. The Overnight Guest - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “It isn’t the dark you should be afraid of, the girl thought, it’s the monsters who step out into the light that you need to fear.“ If you love locked room thrillers, multiple timelines, and shocking twists: this book is definitely for you! I’m working on reading Heather Gudenkauf’s backlog and I’m glad I chose this as my next book to read. The story starts out kinda slow and confusing. You have three timelines going and no clue how they relate. But once things start picking up and more things are revealed, that’s when the intrigue sets in and you speed through to find out what happens. The setting, atmosphere, and high tension creates a thrilling read. Also buckle up because the twists and turns are shocking! Once the three timelines come together…. WOW! ❓What’s your favorite locked room thriller? #theovernightguest #heathergudenkauf #thrillerbooks #thrillerera #thrillerreads #bookblog #thrillerbookrecommendations #readingaddict #readmorebooks #instaread #heathergudenkaufbooks #thrillingreads #suspensethriller #suspensebooks

Simmering with tension this was a tantalizing read from a new to me author, this was quite the enigma, told in an epistolary (and many other)format this follows Evelyn and Richard honeymooning on a small Greek island where things go incredibly wrong, this was creative and unique in the way it was told keeping me on edge throughout, it felt like the mystery was constantly evading the reader and far from being frustrating it felt like a flirty game of cat and mouse, Scarletts writing is razor sharp, equal parts funny and foreboding what starts off as a story about marital discord slowly mutates into something much darker, something is very very wrong but you can't quite put your finger on it, the writing is incredibly vivid and I enjoyed the more gruesome visceral descriptions, this was a twisty gothic thriller I'd recommend to those who enjoy not knowing what the hell is going on but still having a grand old time with it, thankyou @scribneruk @scarthomas . . . #thrillerbooksaddict #thrillerbookstagram #booksbooksbooks #horrorbookslove #horrorreads #thrillerbookrecommendations #thrillerbookrecommendations #gothicreads #horrorreaders #horrorbooksarethebest #bookreviewsofinstagram

☺️ Moments Before Destruction | The Silent Patient ☺️ 🩷 Okay, so I originally intended this post to be a cute “reading in the car” vibe post, but then I decided to binge read The Silent Patient, and now I am but a goner 😭😭 🩷 I don’t even know what to say, my brain is fried and confused, and shocked, and I feel like I was lied to 😭 (if ykyk) 🩷 One thing is for certain, I’m a read a thriller once a year kinda gal because WOW. My world has been shattered. I feel like a piece of gum, I was given much attention and love, until I lost all my flavor and was spit out 💔 🩷 I think that’s I can really say right now. 🤫 Book Review 🤫 📕 My Perfect Husband ✍️ Georgina Cross ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 🗓️ Pub Date May 16, 2024 Thank you to @bookouture, @netgalley, and @georginacrossauthor for this e-ARC! I’ve read two other books by Cross and could not wait to get my hands on this one, especially after seeing rave reviews from everyone at @thrillerbookloversthepulse ! Lauren and Alex are our main characters and have been happily married for 8 years. They met in college and initially bonded over the searches for their missing siblings. But Lauren and Alex have not been honest with one another and there are big secrets being hidden from the past. This book is for you if you’re looking for a domestic suspense thriller full of lies, secrets, and an unreliable narrator. Written from mainly one point of view, a lot of this book reads almost as stream of consciousness and is easy to follow along with. This is a twisty, fast paced read that I enjoyed. Other than that, I recommend going into this book blind because I feel like the blurb gives too much away! ❓ What are your weekend plans?! 🏷️ #myperfecthusband #georginacross #thrillerbooklovers #thrillerbookloversthepulse #thepulse #pulsepoint #netgalley #bookreview #bookreviewer #booklover #readersofinstagram #thrillerreads #thrillerbookrecommendations

I’ve read these three thrillers/mysteries this week and below are my ratings and quick thoughts about each one! ✨Creep by Jennifer Hillier Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was crazy! Sheila Tao was having an affair, got engaged to her boyfriend and tried to break off her affair but Ethan (who is also her teacher assistant) wasn’t letting her off so easy. The book takes you on a ride through the thoughts of Sheila, Ethan and her fiancé Morris! The whole time you’re wondering if Ethan will ever let up, and if Sheila will be able to escape his unhinged ways! Jennifer Hillier did not disappoint! ✨What Lies Between Us by John Marrs Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved the way the tone of the book had you thinking everything was normal and then boom, here comes the unhinged mess! A woman chains her mother into her room and plays cruel pranks on her as she lives a normal life. As the book goes on you learn why and also get to know her mom’s side of the story as well as her thought process of trying to escape. This was one of those books that had those sneaky plot twists that came just as you start to put pieces together. Quick read that just had you thinking about what happened when you finish. I expect nothing less from John Marrs lol! ✨Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was so fun to read/listen to. Let me start by saying I’m not fully an audiobook lover but the way this thriller/mystery book was written with Lucy’s POV and podcast episodes included I felt like I was watching a show. Lucy had been accused of killing her best friend after attending a wedding and due to lack of evidence the case was closed. A podcaster (Ben) decides to make a podcast show about it to find out who murderer Savvy. You’re reading about Lucy’s thoughts… the community’s thoughts of who did it and also trying to solve it yourself! This book was a good time! Looking forward to read more from this author. 📚Question: Do you turn into a detective when reading mystery thrillers? I try to figure it out before the book ends to see if I’m right lol! Most of the time a plot twist comes and throws my whole theory off🙃😂! #bookstagram #thrillerbookrecommendations

👁️book review🕷️ Nightwatching by Tracy Sierra is a newly released thriller novel about a mother trying to protect her children from harm during a home invasion. This book stressed me out so much! I think home invasions are one of the most terrifying things that could actually happen to anyone - probably BECAUSE they could happen to anyone. The thought freaks me out so much - so yeah, I was pretty much at the edge of my seat for the entirety of this novel. Which, by the way, I read in ONE DAY. And 350 pages in one day is a lot even for me (with audiobook help, but still). I was that invested. This novel explores themes that are personally very important to me, like how very often women’s accounts of v**lence are dismissed because «she’s crazy/exaggerating/making it look worse than it actually was/only wants attention/is hysterical». Gaslighting is definitely one of the main themes of this book, and it was so so frustrating to read - but very important too, I think. Just be mindful of that when picking this thriller up! I read this book because it’s @literallydeadclub ‘s pick for April, and I’m very happy to have read it! I don’t often read this type of thriller novels, but this book definitely made me crave more. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a real page turner with darker themes 🖤 As for the picture… this was my first time adding an element from a different picture to a photo of mine with Canva, and yeah I know it looks sloppy. But it took me more than an hour to understand how to add that hand, so I decided to include it, sloppy or not. At least now I kinda know how it works. More or less. Anyways… What’s the last thriller you’ve read? 🔪

This was such a rip roaring rock n roll delight of a book, much like a gig of your favourite band this will leave you breathless and sweating and/or possibly doing finger guns shouting PEW PEW, my spidey senses tell me that this will definitely be picked up to be made into a movie, this book oomphed, is that a word? It OOMPHED violence and emotion, a fun high octane crime thriller that explores the bonds of sisterhood, the writing was fantastic and the characters authentic, I love when music and horror are combined, it makes the genre more GRITTY if that makes sense?, fans of Fever House/Schraders Chord will enjoy this! @rio_youers . Meet the Bang-Bang Sisters: Brea, Jessie, and Flo. Together, they're a killer rock band with an unbreakable bond. But that's only half the story. What in the plot twist? 😱 I listened to the complete audiobook today. I. Could. Not. Stop. I thoroughly enjoyed that story although, please do check TW before going in. This is about a teacher-student relationship with all of what it involves. It is not subtle. Don't worry, when "that" happens, it's closed door. All of the characters have dirt. They are deeply flawed and unlikable. They all do bad things. No one is better than the other. However, this was so well paced and intriguing. I was on the edge of my seat all day. It's quick, easy to read, entertaining enough, it makes you angry and curious. You will not guess the ending. Listen For The Lie // Amy Tintera ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 Swipe for plot summary➡️ This was a fun thriller with great characters and a cool podcast element to the storytelling. I loved the uniqueness of it, and it kept me interested from start to finish. I always think it’s great when things like podcast episodes, newspaper articles or journal entries are mixed in with a book😉 The MC, Lucy, was the best! I thought she was hysterical, and loved every time a random comment popped up in her head. Sure, a lot of people were convinced she killed her best friend, but she seemed pretty cool😂 As much as I enjoyed it there were also a few slight misses…there were a lot of characters and different past storylines I was confused with, and sometimes I needed things to speed up or slow down. I could have done with less witty banter between Lucy and Ben, the podcaster, but that is definitely a me problem🤪 …and I was slightly underwhelmed with how things wrapped up🤷🏻‍♀️ …but the plot was intriguing, the whodunnit storyline fun, and as I said before the dark, twisty humor was awesome😊 I’m super happy I read this one, especially because it was a bestie buddy read with @simonesaysreadthis_ !! Overall a good book with ups and downs but definitely worth picking up! I know I’m way late to the party on this one, but big thanks to @netgalley and @celadonbooks for a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. Q: do you listen to podcasts, and which are your favorite?! Happy reading📚

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐟𝐭 by AM Strong and Sonya Sargent. Thanks to the authors @sonyasargentstrong for the gifted signed ARC and swag ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣ ⁣ Tessa is the lone survivor of a murder spree five years ago that left her friends dead. Now she goes back to the scene of the crime to face her demons. ⁣ ⁣ This is the perfect summer thriller read! Especially if you’re vacationing in an isolated beach house. I loved the plot of this one and knew the original crime was not over. The creep factor builds slowly and you don’t know who to trust in the town. The end gets super exciting and you won’t be able to put it down until the last page. ⁣ ⁣ “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵. 𝐁 𝐎 𝐎 𝐊 • 𝐑 𝐄 𝐕 𝐈 𝐄 𝐖 🖤 @victoriaselmanauthor @unionsqandco A Searing, Psychological Drama that slingshots you straight into the orbit of a killer. Oozing with paranoid suspense and ending with a cataclysmic conclusion that hits like a sledgehammer- True crime fans will eat this one up! 𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐍 𝟏𝟗𝟖𝟎𝐬: We think we've heard this story countless times before. Netflix has an entire category showcasing variations of it. It's the one about a man so charming and so handsome he couldn't possibly be guilty of murder. We think we've heard this story, and we have. It's often spun from his own lips, as he relives his rampage and claims his notoriety. But...𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁... It's not your cliche serial killer story, because this one quiets our perpetrator. It passes the mic to a girl who had the metaphorical wool pulled over her eyes since she was 8 years old- she's his step-daughter, Sophie. Toggling between then and now, Sophie walks us through her childhood with Matty recounting all the goose fleshed memories that haunt her today. The signs she and her mother overlooked, the gaslighting, the mind games; the fact that all his victims looked exactly like her mother. The frosty retelling of events leads us to present day with Matty detained behind steel in Battlemouth Prison, desperate to speak with Sophie one last time before he takes his final breath. But will he finally admit to the murder of 9 women and a child or will he continue to plead his innocence? 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 😉 Selman hit the nail on the head when she titled this book, Truly Darkly Deeply because it was exactly that- Unnerving, Discomposing and completely Unputdownable. Book Review 📘 Daughter Of Mine By Megan Miranda Rating: I Loved It! Happy Sunday! Daughter of Mine is a thrilling rollercoaster ride through a web of family secrets and mystery. Divided into four parts, the story unfolds with a slow burn, gradually revealing layers of mystery and family dynamics within a cop family. As buried family secrets come to light, I was drawn deeper into the narrative, rooting for the resilient MC, Hazel. Miranda expertly crafts a gripping tale that kept me guessing until the very end. With its intricate plot and interesting characters, Daughter of Mine kept me hooked from start to finish. This is my new favorite book so far written by author Miranda! Have you read any thrillers recently that you’d recommend?

Who is Maud Dixon by Alexandra Andrews 4⭐️ This is the type of thriller I like: unreliable narrator, nothing scary that could ever happen to my family, and a twisted ending I never predicted! This book was definitely a battle of the crazies: Sociopath vs Psychopath 💥💥💥 Florence has lived a pretty unimpressive life. She’s desperate to be a writer and willing to take any shortcuts on the road to getting published. When she’s hired to be the assistant to eccentric hermit Helen (who wrote an internationally acclaimed best selling book under the pseudo name Maud Dixon), Florence sees the opportunity to learn from the best. Maud Dixon being her mentor is huge, but what would she do if the opportunity arose for her to just become… Maud Dixon? There were some character inconsistencies with Florence that I wasn’t crazy about, and the pace lagged at times, but overall, I enjoyed this book!! Quick, easy, fun psychological thriller with subtle dark humor 👍🏼

LISTEN FOR THE LIE by @amytintera needs to be on your TBR immediately, if it’s not already! Summary: Lucy returns to her Texan hometown for her grandmother’s 80th birthday celebration five years after she was attacked and suffered a brain injury. When she regains consciousness, she learns she is a suspect in her best friend’s murder. While she was never arrested, small town life sentenced her and she hadn’t been back. While in Texas, Lucy forms an unlikely partnership with a true crime podcaster to try piece together her fragmented memories and find Savvy’s killer, or confirm she did it. The Last Passenger by Will Dean Published by Hodder and Stoughtonc ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review: I heard so much hype around this book where I could only be told a small amount of the plot cause everything else would be a spoiler. But I was incredibly underwhelmed by it, I have learnt in my reading I’m not a fan of a “single scenes” like this book where it’s only on a boat and nowhere else. The twist they had and the idea give gave I really enjoyed but I wish it was more detailed in the behind the scenes. Without spoiling it too much but 500 pages of this story could’ve delved into so much more but it just felt like it was dragged out and beginning and end were the only interesting parts. {Special thanks to WHSmith for sending me this book for the Spring Richard and Judy Book Club} ☕️Have you read this book?☕️ #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #bookreview #willdean #willdeanauthor #thelastpassenger #thrillerbooks #thrillerbookrecommendations

❕Book Review❕ The Guest List by @lucyfoleyauthor My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Swipe ⬅️ for the synopsis. ---- ** I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lucy Foley has a writing style that captivated me. Speaking of writing style, I noticed that I quite often find myself a bit confused when I read books from authors who are from the U.K., Australia, or Ireland. It's all English, but we have different dialects and different choices of diction. However, I enjoy it because even through fiction I get a glimpse of cultures and how different so many things are. I really enjoyed the different perspectives throughout the book. It wasn't as though we were having to "relive" a moment in the book over and over, the author did a good job keeping the plot going while changing perspectives. There were some great plot twists and two made me wide-eyed and looking away from the book. I thought that I was going to be able to guess, but I didn't even see them coming. The author brilliantly executed the details throughout the book as to not give too much of a hint, but just enough to leave your mind putting the pieces together. I'm glad I finally got the chance to read this book; I had a lot of fun with it and I'm looking forward to reading more by Lucy Foley. ** ---------------------------------------- #bookreview #bookrecommendation #booksbooksbooks #thrillerbookstagramer #thrillerbookstagram #thrillerbooks #bookworm #bookrecommendations #thrillerbookrecommendations #books #booklover #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookcommunity #booksofinstagram #booksofig #read #readmorebooks #bookphotography #reading #bookaddict #bookshelf #booklovers #thrillerbook

Two for tuesday! ✌️  Two home invasion books I've read recently and recommend, although they're both in the same category these are extremely different in how they approach the trope, I think I find this sub genre of horror deeply unsettling as it's rooted in the entirely possible, I enjoyed both of these immensely, The Intruders was SO TWISTY a must read for fans of Frieda or Sager, some parts were slightly unbelievable but it was throughly enjoyable I had a hard time putting it down, I also didn't see the ending coming, my jaw was on the floor! A perfect blend of thriller and supernatural! Night Watching..listen..the gasp I gusped! I'd say at its core this is a dark psychological family drama that focuses on a woman and her fragile mental state, it deals with a lot of uncomfortable tropes so check trigger warnings, a mother at her breaking point this was equal parts empowering and frustrating, it's anxiety inducing and one of the best thrillers I've read this year, many thanks @vikingbooksuk and @hqstories for sending these my way . . . . #thrillerbooks #thrillerbookstagram #horrorbooks #bookreviews #thrillerbookreview #thrillerbookrecommendations #thrillerfiction #thrillerbooksaddict #thrillerbooksarethebest #nightwatchingtracysierra #bookreviewersofinstagram

{ book review } The Last Girl Left by A.M. Strong & Sonya Sargent   Pub day: April 23, 2024   QOTD: Would you stay at a murder house? Honestly, I probably would!   ✨Review ✨   The FOMO was real as my thriller besties @thrillerbookloversthepulse were all raving about #thelastgirlleft in the group chat so I knew I had to move it to the top of my reading list. And I’m so glad I did!!   The Last Girl Left is a bingable book full of suspicious characters, red herrings, a captivating crime and a clever take on the final girl trope. Once I got started, I couldn’t put it down!   I was suspicious of everyone on the island, except one character who thank goodness wasn’t a bad guy. The isolated island in winter was atmospheric and eerie, but I also still kind of want to go there? #thrillergirlproblems   I thought the choice to do short flashbacks of Tessa’s memories vs. a full dual timeline was clever and helped build momentum throughout the story and give depth to her character.   Thriller friends- you want this book on your summer TBR! Just maybe avoid reading it at a cottage on an island in Maine… ;)   Thank you @amazonpublishing and @netgalley for the gifted copy to read and review. #psychologicalthrillerbook #bookfluencer #coffeeandcurrentlyreading #thepulse #thrillerloversthepulse #thrillerbookrecommendations #ariannareads #fundaymonday #kindlereader

15.04.24 || 🌆 The Good Lie by A.R. Torre 🌟 Review: 6/10 ⚖️ Would I recommend it? Yes, I would despite not loving it, it had a good story 📖 Would I re-read it? Nope, I don’t think there’s anything else I’d get out of it. Synopsis: The Bloody Heart killer has been roving the streets of Los Angeles taking out victims in violently volatile ways until one of his victims escapes and identifies him. Gwen, an expert psychiatrist specialising in violent disorders teams up with a defence attorney to find out if the man in custody really is the BH Killer or a ruse set up by a would be victim… My thoughts: I really wanted to love this, I’d also seen it reviewed to high acclaim by an account I absolutely love, so I had high hopes. So, what worked? The premise is fantastic and I can totally see this novel being set up as a David Fincher directed movie. I was also captivated by the psychiatrist, Gwen, and the way we as the reader learn about her patients through various interactions. There was also a high-level of suspense and whodunnit which did keep me engaged right until the end; the pacing of the novel overall was great and I felt very much a part of the story. So, why a 6? I didn’t particularly like the attorneys characterisation, the novel teetered on the verge of a romance-esque story which I just wasn’t down for. I also didn’t like the way he was quietly misogynistic but because he’s handsome it’s mildly excusable. Just no. There wasn’t really sufficient detailing of the crimes or history behind the BH Killer, beside a few case files that Gwen glances through, the reader isn’t particularly availed of any details or intrigue. There are also two narratices that run concurrently: that of Gwen and that of the escaped victim, which didn’t really tie into each other. So whilst perspective is great, they didn’t add much value to one another. As I say, would make a great film noir but as a novel I just wanted more… . . . #bookreviews #bookrecommendations #thrillerbooks #thrillerbookrecommendations #thrillerbookreviews

✨Book Review✨ Lock Every door- Riley Sager ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌷PREMISE🌷 No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsen's new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. Recently heartbroken and just plain broke, Jules is taken in by the splendor of her surroundings and accepts the terms, ready to leave her past life behind. 💫MY THOUGHTS💫 I was in a slump when I picked up this book. But this literally made me stay up pretty late at night. This is my second riley Sager book. After house across the lake, I expected the book to go somewhere else. However I still could not guess it. I really really loved the storyline, the plot. The whole premise itself was so intriguing. The writing was so amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Even when I was not reading the book I was still thinking about it(unexpected since I was in a reading slump). It was actually SO THRILLING. Highly recommended if you are looking for a book to get you out of slump or just a good thriller.
