He had suspicious accidents and his second marriage only lasted for ninety-seven days and the unfortunate news of his sudden death shocks everyone. While it all feels suspicious. The investigation is going on. Addison becomes the suspect. People disapproved of her because she is young. Truth is twisted, shocking and the kind of that you could not even imagine. The secrets, mystery, suspense and plot twists kept me on the edge. This is a good whodunnit mystery with a revenge plot. Because this book is so freaking twisted and when you don't think it could be twisted anymore, Darby throws in another twist that will blow your mind! His ex-wife Kathryn only wants back what Addison took from her and is not beyond using her children Wyatt and Portia to get what she wants. Kathryn isn't the only one manipulating her children. Addison's mother makes mommy dearest look like a saint. She has been manipulating Addison all her life and she won't leave until she gets what she deserves from the Dougherty family. Elias was Richmond's lawyer and is now Addison's. Besides the children, he was the only character I really liked. But I wasn't sure he could be trusted. This story is told in dual POV going from present to past and 97 days ago. There are several characters that I suspected of killing Richmond but I was so wrong. This dysfunctional family is so twisted. I could not read this book fast enough to find out who was the killer. Every twist is jaw dropping. Preorder this book now! #bookreview @hkdimon One of the best parts of being part of @thrillerbookloversthepulse is getting to read such highly anticipated books so early.. and we are so spoilt to have What the Wife Knew. Not out until December. This is one that you need on your radar. Who doesn’t love a book full of revenge and family drama!!  I binged it in a day and I am not sorry about it. Addison is wife number 2 for Richmond Dougherty, acclaimed paediatrician and famous for his actions back when he was a teenager. They have been married for a sort few months when Richmond is found dead. Obviously, Addison is prime suspect, but what about all the others who held grudges against him? it is clear early on that theirs was not a happy marriage, so what is going on with that?? There are some really nasty characters in this story, but I loved Addison. She was strong and snarky and didn’t take any crap from anyone. This was my first Darby Kane book, and it was insane!!! I have never enjoyed a FMC character as much as I did Addison. She was a sassy, snarky, vengeful, badass who didn't put up with crap from anyone. Not even her now dead husband, who someone ended up killing before she could do the deed first. As Addison is trying to figure out who is framing her for the murder of her husband, she starts to uncover even more secrets about him that she didn't already know. This one is a wild, crazy ride steeped in secrets, blackmail, spite, and revenge. It takes a close look at how far people are willing to go for the people that they love and how greed is a motivating factor in people's actions. I found myself turning the pages trying to uncover all the secrets in this one. The Dougherty's dysfunctional family dynamics were an addictive read. Darby Kane is an auto read author for me so when THE PULSE (@thrillerbookloversthepulse) got its hands on her next release extra early, I jumped at the chance to grab a copy! What the Wife Knew was a total ride. I had absolutely no idea where it was going, what the heck was going on, or if any single character wasn’t a terrible person and total liar! I couldn’t get enough! Richmond’s death felt shady and convenient from the jump, but I couldn’t figure out if (or more importantly HOW) Addison was involved. The short marriage, immediate disdain for one another, fear on both sides, and suspicious death felt like 2 plus 2 equals chair and I loved how Kane unfolded the mystery for us. Addison’s backstory was gripping and I liked the added layers of having her mother back in her life. The dynamics with Ezra and the investigator also kept me intrigued and totally confused! There were moments this book gave me The Housemaid vibes and I was so here for it. Twists, turns, and so many “what the heck” moments kept me flipping pages faster and faster. Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for an ARC of What the Wife Knew. Halfway through I thought for sure this was going to be a 5 star read. It jumps right into the middle of the action, I really liked the main character, and the plot was very unique! After that point, though, things really went downhill. Ultimately, there were just too many minor characters whose story lines didn't contribute to the bigger picture, and the two big reveals at the end felt unimaginative and a bit lazy. What the Wife Knew, is jam packed with a cast of characters you will love to hate (Portia and Elias, the only exceptions). After concluding this book all I wanted to do was go to mom’s house for a big hug. The amount of gratitude I had toward her for NOT being like the mom’s in this book superseded all the times she brushed my hair a bit too hard or forbid me from dating a long line of boys in kindergarten… Kathryn? Lizzy ? Ick I still get the chills thinking about them. What the Wife Knew, is completely unique to DK’s previous work. We don’t have any deranged brother in laws in this one and there is a lot less blood shed. This book is more of a psychological suspense book with a side of murder mystery . In true DK fashion, there are many twists but the final one will just about snap your head of your neck.
