*This is a fair and honest review in return for an ARC copy of this book* While I enjoyed this book, it felt like something was missing. I felt that while Massismo was a better option for Evelyn then her fiancรฉ George, despite his background, the relationship between Massimo and Evelyn could have used a bit more communication and development before the spice was introduced. I also disliked how little backbone Evelyn had with George and I'm hoping that in the other books in this series, Evelyn does start standing up for herself, which we do see in this book when she interacts with Massimo. I liked that Massimo had a code of honour and that he is self aware enough to know how contradictory this is. Massimo is definitely a character that has potential. Sadly, this book ends on a cliff-hanger and I have to wait till May before I can find out what happens next. It was so much more than I expected.The characters felt so real and easy to connect with. There are moments that will tug on your heartstrings. Allie and Jakeโs story is an emotional rollercoaster. There were a few moments I was a little worried about what was going to happen. We get dual timeline and points of view that explain their story. I love Jake! He is a giant teddy bear, so sweet and he cooks for her! I love that Jake did express his feelings to Allie instead of just keeping them bottled up. Jake was so broken and I just wanted to hug him. Allie is sweet, sassy and fierce. Allie and Jake complemented each other so well.Allie had a difficult decision to make and she did make the right choice. You can tell how much they cared about each other even when they were apart. I can understand both of their points and why things happened the way they did. I am so happy with how it ended! I love that this was from the POV of a beta when omegaverses are normally told from the perspective of the Omega. This story really showed some of the difficulties that come with being a beta and the feelings of inadequacy that come along with that distinction that are normally not talked about. I also loved her relationship with Evander (and Evander in general๐) - they had a strong, trusting relationship. The storyline is intriguing and the world-building is fantastically done. I was thoroughly invested by the half of the book and I needed to know how it ended. Why would she leave her toddler alone to go for an evening run? Why are the school mums so dismissive when it comes to talking about Charlotte? Beth decided to take it upon her self to figure out exactly what happened to her best friend a year before, but not before she opens that next bottle of wine. I really enjoyed the plot of an amateur sleuth finding out what happened to her best friend, and the overall cosy mystery feel, but I did feel it got quite repetitive towards the end. There was a great balance of humour, which added some light-heartedness to the clear distress Beth was experiencing. There were a LOT of names in this, which was difficult to keep track of at times. He knew what he wanted and he fought for her. Catherine is a strong woman and he does not try to change her and doesnโt want her to sacrifice anything for him. These two have great banter and chemistry! The Lost Story by Meg Shaffer out 7/16/24!! I just finished an ARC of this incredible story and I can already tell I will be thinking about it constantly just like her other novel, The Wishing Game. Just when I thought nothing could live up to her last book, The Lost Story went and surprised me. Absolutely incredible and Meg Shaffer is up there with the greats in my opinion. Emily and Jacob both have a darker past that we find out over time but they were just different and in a good way. Some many feelings during this book! This one really tugged on my heartstrings. Jacob sees Emily and just feels drawn to her. He makes her food, takes her to and from work and helps her in many ways. But Jacob does not push Emily. Emily is very skeptical of Jacob because no one does anything for her and she has experience with men that has taught her not to trust men. It took a while to see that Jacob had a past too and it affects him. Riley is adorable! I loved the scenes with him. Jacob treated him like his own from the beginning. It takes time for both Emily and Jacob to break down their walls and to actually keep them down. But over time it happened and we got to see their past and how they healed on their own and together. I am excited to read the rest of the series! I was a little frustrated at my girl Arwen and how she was treating those around her, but she found out a lot all at once and the way that everything unfolds made sense by the end. This book got a lot more spicy too and I live for the scene of Kane getting his release alone because he couldnโt have Arwen!! There was so much that was discovered about the prophecy and what it actually means and I have so many more theories now on how this adventure ends. The Chef by Robin Mahle Stars: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Reveiw: Let me start off by saying I dont know a lot about the food business, but I feel like you don't have to to read it. The plot is pretty straight forward. The main issue I have is the begining really threw me off after reading most of the book. It wasn't until I finished it, and went back to reread it, that I understood why it was put there. That being said- that was such a good way to hook a reader. Other then that, I didn't really feel for any of the characters other then Naomi, and she wasn't mentioned often enough for me to be connected to her in any way. I felt like the husband and wife became erractic and unpredictable, which was frustrating to the reader. Other then that, the plot does a really good job at keeping you hooked. I did finish it just to find out the ending. ๐ซ Book Review ๐ซ The Quit List by @authorkatiebailey ๐ฅพ Need a snarky, witty, swoony and often hilarious book to read?? Also love characters that feel like your best friends and make you wish you knew them in real life? Then this story needs to be in your life. I had the best time reading this fantastic book about embracing your actual self and letting love find you there. There was so much good relationship advice included that it could almost be an instruction manual. Jax and Holly are so fun and hilarious together as they inadvertently find themselves on a love journey they never expected. I loved watching them fall for each other and inspire each other to reach for their dreams. And when they finally admit their feelingsโฆ.I was definitely happy dancing! Their swoony kisses were the perfect culmination of their relationship and I was more than happy to read about them ๐ One last thing I really loved was the hiking and outdoor activities included. I personally love hiking (camping outside not so much, though) so it was fun learning a bit more about someone who guides hikes for a living. I would totally sign up for a trip with Jaxโs company, especially as they are based in the beautiful Appalachian mountains, which I want to hike one day. Emilyโs character just felt so raw and can be relatable to some. We see her struggle with depression and self harm which was honest and instead of just ignoring her pain the author dove into it and made it honest and real. We see her struggles but we see that she is not defined by those struggles and Grey helps her see that they do not define her. Grey falls first and hard. Grey does have a dark side but it does not come out on Emily. He cared for her but let her be in control. He helped her with her depression instead of just avoiding it. When they got together her problems just did not disappear which was nice to see. I loved sitting out on the deck reading this now that the sun has come out โ๏ธ Thank you @valentine_pr_ and @authorcalimelle for the ARC! ๐ Caliโs hockey romances always hit the spot and I was not disappointed! I loved Mac and Julietteโs relationship and I was just waiting for one of them to break! You could literally feel the tension between the two of them from a mile away. And the spice was spicy ๐ฅ Oh and when he opened her package with her book and annotated it? (Yes, I wouldโve been slightly annoyed too, buttttt ๐) About: Youโre not supposed to fall for the coachโs daughter... but that doesnโt stop Mac Sullivan. One look at her and heโs smitten. Juliette has a standoffish attitude and does not want anything to do with hockey boys. She coaches a youth hockey team after sustaining a career ending injury. Mac canโt help himself though when she moves right down the hall from him. What was supposed to be a neighbors with benefits situation actually turns into something more.
