Book: Keeper of Scarlet Petals by A N Skye Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ I am blown away by the epilogue. I need the second book right now. The book was amazing. I was anchored to it. Asher and Jasmine were my favourites 🥹. And I Love Love Love Jasmine's strong character. I have a soft spot for writers who write such strong Female characters. And it is shown in the book, that the author did not hesitate to show how strong Jasmine is and in fact better than Asher(MMC). Also Asher and Jasmine were made for each other. Rival to lovers is my troupe. Asher's brain and Jasmine's strength would be the end game. Asher is such a sweetheart. Lydia was a great friend and Pina was a great character. These two side characters were great. Not gonna lie as a rookie fantasy reader I am confused at the parts where they explain how magic worked. I couldn't understand who the well of magic was transferred from one to the other. How both of them can use it and how it is only affecting one person. But to the end I got a grip of it (I guess). The fight scenes were amazingly portrayed. I could see them happening. The twists were good a little expected TBH, maybe but as this is just the beginning I hope there are more truths, more betrayals, more leaps and bounds to be unfolded as the war just began. I am so looking forward to the next book of the series. My rating would be ⭐⭐⭐ stars. I went into this book not knowing a whole lot about it, like usual of course. I was not disappointed!! I absolutely loved the 2 main characters and the side characters (I’d love to see more of a certain set of side characters in the future 👀) They were all flawed and relatable so I feel like I could really connect with them. I adored the female bodyguard trope (I think I might be obsessed with it?) and the build up to the romance was everything. There was magic, assassins, found family, shady characters, and it left you wanting to jump right into the next book immediately! I really liked the pacing for 98% of the book and loved how it ended. They may live together but they are busy trying to figure out who is trying to kill Asher and why? This book was paced slower that I am used to so that was an adjustment. I quickly fell hard for Asher as I watched him banter with Jasmine. He drove her mad in so many ways! Watching as he & Jasmine learned to rely on each other through everything that was thrown at them, all while trying not to fall for each other, was a fun time. These two together truly kept me hooked on the story! ‌ I adored that 𝐴𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑠 was the narrator to bring this characters to life. Her voice flows beautifully throughout the story and she did an epic job! I felt like I was among friends with her voicing them! ‌ This is the first book in this new series and I am very much looking forward to continuing this magic filled journey. ✨ Book Review ✨ Keeper of Scarlet Petals by A. N. Skye Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 🌶️🌶️ Available Now - Free on Kindle Unlimited As a debut novel I thought this was a very fascinating and enjoyable read. Keeper of Scarlet Petals is the first book in a new romantasy series and follows Jasmine a sassy former thief turned keeper (bodyguard) who is assigned to protect a noble called Asher who was once training to be a keeper too before he was forced to drop out. I like how the characters were written and I look forward to seeing how they progress through the series. This book is full of a blend of magic, action, romance and banter. I particularly enjoyed the reverse bodyguard trope. I liked the world building - I just wish there was maybe a little bit more. Hopefully that continues to build through the series. The fast-paced plot was easy to follow and with its twists and turns kept me entertained throughout. The foundations have been set, I can’t wait to see what comes next from the rest of the series. Overall a great read which I recommend to anyone who loves fantasy, strong female leads mixed with a beautiful romance. Perfect for lovers of Fourth Wing. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this and I have to say that I definitely wasn't expecting what I read. I enjoyed the pace of the book and definitely wasn't expecting that ending, I was so wrong about who I thought the villain was 😂  I think the only thing that didn't grip me fully was the relationship between Jasmine and Asher, I thought it lacked some tension. I enjoyed hanging out with Asher and Jasmine for a bit. But most importantly, there was angst and banter. And I am a fly drawn to trash for that crap. My biggest issue with this one would be pacing. An academy for training magic wielders and those that will eventually become a sort of bodyguard for them! There is a ton of action and high stake assassination attempts, banter, chemistry! I loved the magic system and how woven together the two characters become. I would have enjoyed a deeper look into each main characters history and bit but this was overall and wonderful story with great character growth and ending that has me begging to know what happens next! Keeper of Scarlet Petals by A.N. Skye 5/5⭐️ This was such a fun story and gave me great fourth wing vibes since they start off at a magic school. Jasmine and Asher were so great together and the banter and the chemistry between them was amazing. Jasmine was also such a baddie which I loved. This story had great world building and was an intriguing concept. I enjoyed reading about the school and the Keepers and Starveins. There was also a mystery throughout with clues seemingly leading you in a certain direction and you don’t find out until the end if that’s the right direction. Avery Caris did a fantastic job on this solo narration. 🗡REVIEW:🗡 🌹Keeper of Scarlet Petals by A.N. Skye is the first book in a new romantasy series. Jasmine is training to become a Keeper-One who dedicates one’s life and heart to protect another. While she may be lacking in pretty much all the other department, she is the best warrior of her class and hence is asked to be a Keeper despite being in just the 1st year. Jasmine and the noble she’s protecting end up facing assassins that nearly kill them both, but if there was one thing Jasmine learnt from the gutters-it was survival and that’s what she plans to do. The book is fast paced and is an easy read. While the characters were nice and some even surprised me, they didn’t have enough depth to them to be memorable long after the book is over. While we do get some answers towards the end it wasn’t satisfying enough. The story had so much potential but it falls short in delivering it. I liked that it was a FMC guarding the MMC and the epilogue was pretty unexpected. Was the book nice? Yes. Would I read the next book in the series? Probably not. This book would be perfect for those who love a sword wielding FMC, a bit of romance and lots of complicated magic. Thank you, The Nerd Fam, Aethon Books and A. N. Tell me about your current read. Just finished reading this ARC copy of Keeper of Scarlet Petals by A N Skye. And thank you @netgalley for this. I give it a 4 and a half. It's a story of two who try to survive from a critical position they are at for the sake of their kingdom. Even though they get stuck at a difficult stance without being fully aware of the threat that possess against their lives. It soon changes when frequent threats to their lives arrive. They do their best at improving themselves even though they are well aware that they are being baited as the kingdom doesn't value their life much. The romantic development between them is interesting.i loved that they didn't hold back their feelings after realising it. Blurb:The first and final steps in the path of a Keeper were death. Sanctuary was her escape from her brutal life in the slums and all she wanted to do was continue learning everything she needed to become the best in her class. But, those plans are ruined when she’s assigned to become the protector to a young nobleman whose entire family has been murdered. He’s cocky and arrogant and completely drives Jasmine up the wall. But, she’s going to have to put aside her feelings to keep him safe, while still trying to keep up with her class…despite not being allowed to attend her classes. I truly enjoyed this rivals to lovers story! The banter between Jasmine and Asher was so much fun. I truly loved their relationship and the way they push each other in their training. They really learned to work together well. I really enjoyed most of the side characters and the friends they both make along the way. I could have used more world building but I am assuming that will come in further books.I’d really love it if more of both Jasmine’s and Asher’s family histories could be explored. It just seems like this would be important information as to why an entire group of assassins would be going after Asher’s family. All in all, this was a fun, exciting read and I am completely excited about reading the next book when it’s ready. Skye (ARC) 📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️,5 ”Just because I respect your ability with a sword does not mean I respect you.” “You’re mine.” “You have the intelligence of a steamed rat.” The storyline was interesting from start to finish. There were a few moments in the middle of the book where the pacing was slower, but for most of the book, the pacing was quite fast, and there was a lot happening. The characters were well-developed and interesting. I liked the banter between the FMC and MMC. Besides the main characters, the side characters were also well-introduced and played a significant part in the story. In my opinion, the relationship between the FMC and MMC needed a bit more buildup. They were hating each other, and then all of a sudden, they were liking each other. The magic system seemed unique and interesting, but it left me a bit confused at times. I would have preferred to learn a bit more about it. It wasn’t easy to guess who the “bad guy” was, and there were multiple plot twists I didn’t see coming. Overall, an interesting read. Can’t wait to read what happens next. ✨ARC Review✨ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Available: May 14 To be a Keeper is to dedicate one’s life - and heart - to protecting another. Keeper of Scarlet Petals is a fast paced romantasy read. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book. It has one of my personal favorite tropes, forced proximity. The story is set in a school/academy where Keepers and Starveins train. Starveins have magic, but it takes time to call in use it. The Starveins need Keepers to protect them when they are trying to use their magic. Jasmine and Asher are both Keepers running from something in their life. I fell in love Jasmine and Asher from page one. They are a very mild enemies to lovers. The witty banter, between characters and in Jasmine’s thoughts, was one of my favorite aspects of the entire book. There is some spice, but nothing too crazy. The mystery throughout the entirety of the book kept me on the edge of my seat. I thought I had it figured out but boy was I wrong. The final plot twist being in the epilogue was not what I was expecting, but definitely left me stoked for the next book! Review: This book was gripping from the first chapter until the last chapter. It was a wonderful romantasy book with not much spice but still had excellent storyline. The character development for all of the characters not just the main characters was top notch. It was a book that had you constantly guessing who was the villain and who was innocent. There were definitely some twists and turns in the book that kept you guessing. Overall, great quick read and will be, not so patiently, waiting for another book! 🥀Keeper of Scarlet Petals🥀 “To be a Keeper was to dedicate one’s life - and heart - to protecting another.” This fast paced romantasy had me hooked from the start. The characters, the magic system, the mystery, and the action immediately drew me in. The main character Jasmine is training to become a Keeper, those tasked with protecting nobles with magic. She is the best warrior of her class and is soon tasked with protecting a previous keeper, her semi-rival and training partner Asher. The banter between them was so fun to read and you can instantly recognize the tension/connection between them. My favorite part of this book was the mystery surrounding their magic and the assassins coming for Asher. We are learning about this confusing way of using magic right alongside the main characters. Near the end we finally get some answers about the assassination attempts and the importance of Asher’s magic. The ending was wild with so many new twists. There is so much potential with this series and I’m really looking forward to the second book to see what comes next for Jasmine and Asher!
