This is my first review!!! So first of all this book is a dark murder mystery and it was AMAZING it had twists and turns. It intrigued me with every chapter! I loved how the main character Aubrey Rose was strong but also had her weaknesses. This book reminded me of A Good Girls Guide to Murder but set in London in 1888. Out of 5 stars I would give this book 4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this book gave everything I was expecting and MORE. The ending shocked me so much. I also really liked the tiny bits of romance in this book! This book was a bit gruesome in parts but in my opinion it helped develope Aubrey Rose better. I also loved thinking one person was Jack the Ripper but it turned out being someone else!!! I already have the next book downloaded on my kindle so stay tuned for my review on the next book 📚!! Ich hatte das Buch entdeckt als es noch keine deutsche Übersetzung gab und hab es auf meine Favoritenliste gepackt. Ich war erst nicht sicher ob es was für mich ist, aber dann wurde ich in den Bann der Story gezogen. Es ist spannend, düster, humorvoll und einen Hauch Romance gibt es auch. Ihr bekommt definitiv eine Rezi dazu wenn ich es durch habe, dauert bestimmt nicht mehr lang! Stalking Jack The Ripper - Kerri Maniscalco Inhalt: Es geht um die junge Audrey Rose, die eine Begeisterung für die Medizin und die Obduktion von Toten hat. Als Jack The Ripper sein Unwesen treibt, versucht sie, ihm auf die Schliche zu kommen... Audrey Rose als eine der Protagonisten hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Audrey ist eine sehr starke junge Frau, die für ihre Rechte und ihre Wünsche einsteht, auf der anderen Seite nagt die Loyalittä ihrer Familie gegenüber an ihr. Die Entwicklung der Beziehung zwischen ihr und Thomas hat mich mehrmals zum Lachen gebracht, die beiden verhalten sich teilweise wie ein altes Ehepaar. Auch, wenn Thomas mir am Anfang sehr unsympathisch war, konnte ich ihn sehr schnell in mein Herz schließen. Der Schreibstil ist schön flüssig und leicht zu lesen. Die Beschreibungen sind so gut und detailliert, dass ich dabei tatsächlich nichts essen konnte...das heißt schon etwas. Die Kombination aus der Familiengeschichte um Audrey und gleichzeitig der Geschichte um Jack The Ripper, mit vielen historischen Details ist wirklich gut gelungen und es wird mehr als bewusst, wie grausam diese Morde gewesen sein müssen. Gleichzeitig wird eine konstante Spannung erhalten, da immer neue Erkenntnisse aus beiden Handlungssträngen ans Licht kommen. Bis zum Ende hatte ich keine Ahnung, wer hier eigentlich das Monster ist. ✨️Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco✨️ 📖Book Review 4🌟 448 pages/ 9.5 hours Thoroughly enjoyable historical murder mystery. Despite reading mostly fantasy now, I love a good murder mystery, and this book didn't disappoint. The author did a great job of combining factual information of the Jack the Ripper case and embellishing on it in such a way as to make it unique. I really loved the FMC and MMC and the dynamics between the 2 of them. There was almost a Sherlock and Watson vibe if they had also had romantic tension. There were plenty of clues towards the culprit, but enough red herrings thrown in there to make me unsure if I was correct in my guess. Book review: Kerri Maniscalco - Stalking Jack the Ripper 4 ⭐️ Audrey Rose Wadsworth is a 17 year old, lord's daughter who does not want the life planned out for her. Social teas, dresses and husband's? no thank you. She'd rather practice forensic medicine, against her father and society's wishes. When assisting her uncle with an autopsy she meets Thomas Creswell and they embark on an investigation to find out who Jack the Ripper is... I read this as part of a book club with @book.dragon.alliance I loved the concept and the characters and yet for some unknown reason this book took me f.o.r.e.v.e.r to get into (maybe because I was reading A Court of Mist and Fury at the same time?) When I finally got into it though I immediately wanted to go out and get the rest of the series. Audrey and Thomas were a lot like Sherlock and Watson and their banter was brilliant. It kept me guessing for a while and it was only closer to the end that I guessed who it was... but I didn't guess the why and I loved that part. I really liked the ending and I'm looking forward to seeing what Audrey gets up to next! QOTD: If you could be a part of a serial killer investigation what would you choose to do? Curious that if you have read this series, how would you rank the books in an order of which you enjoyed them most? For me I would say starting with most enjoyable: 3, 4, 1 and then 2. I also read this after I read the Kingdom of the Wicked Series, so it was fun to see Kerri's first series. I put book 4 second because the ending wasn't my favorite. I think it may be controversial to like Houdini(book 3) so much? 😅 I read this with both a physical and audio book. Book 1 was a great start. BUT this book did have my favorite murderer reveal in the entire series, it was so fun to read and i really loved the way this book ends so it still gets 4 stars even though it made me mad capturing the devil-☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ the last book is my favorite in the series. “Monsters were supposed to be scary and ugly. They weren’t supposed to hide behind friendly smiles and well-trimmed hair.” I really enjoyed this book. It was well written, and therefore so easy to read that I finished it in no time. I think that says something, since I’m a relatively slow reader. And Thomas Cresswell- everyday my standards get higher and higher. All his remarks had me giggling and kicking my feet, especially since I wasn’t expecting romance when I first picked this up. My only issue was that I was able to predict the murderer based on the blurb at the back of the book. But nonetheless, I enjoyed myself. Wake up and read! 📚 Who doesn’t love a good mystery? Anything that has James Patterson involved is automatically going to be a favorite of mine. No questions asked. I love the mystery of following Jack the Ripper while entangled with romance. If you are squeamish this probably is not the book for you. The descriptiveness of this book is top notch. Rezension / Werbung selbstgezahlt Guten Morgen Bookies 🫶🏼 ich habe mich mit Stalking Jack the Ripper in der Sonderausgabe der @buecherbuechse selbst zum Geburtstag beschenkt und hab das Buch endlich vom SuB befreit. Das war Anfangs ein reiner Kauf aus Sammelgründen 😄 ich finde das Buch soo hübsch 🙈 Aber auch der Inhalt hat mich überzeugen und ich konnte das Buch kaum aus der Hand legen. Das Setting in London im Jahr 1888 gefällt mir sehr gut. Audrey Rose ist unsere weibliche Protagonistin und will sich aus den engen Maschen der damaligen Gesellschaft befreien in dem sie bei ihrem Onkel das Handwerk der Gerichtsmedizinerin erlernt anstatt an Teepartys teilzunehmen. Durch ihre Arbeit ermittelt sie im Fall Jack the Ripper, wobei sie Unterstützung von Thomas erhält, der ebenfalls mit ihrem Onkel zusammenarbeitet. Mir haben beide Protagonisten sehr gefallen. Bei den Dialogen der Beiden musste ich auch öfter mal schmunzeln. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist sehr flüssig und packend, sodass ich es nie langatmig oder Ähnliches fand. Den Plott um wen es sich handelt habe ich irgendwann aber vermutet, was der Spannung aber keinen Abbruch gemacht hat. Faszinierend fand ich auch den Zusatz zu den Abweichungen zu Gunsten der Story von den historisch korrekten Daten. Zudem gefiel mir auch der Extrateil zu Thomas sehr gut. Hier wird sein erstes aufeinandertreffen mit Audrey Rose aus seiner Sicht geschildert. Hallo zusammen 🥰, Was ist euer liebstes Farbschnitt ❤? Rezension Mir hat dieser Teil noch besser gefallen als der erste ! Das lag vorallem daran das ich jetzt mittlerweile eine echt enge Verbindung zu den Hauptcharakten aufgebaut habe und es einfach schön finde neue Dinge über sie zu erfahren! Und ich finde Thomas und Audrey Rose auch einfach unglaublich süß zusammen 😍❤! I would have never expected them to be that good??😱 Besides the very amusing banter and the very lovely romance going on, the story and the murder cases were just soooo gripping!!!😍 I listened to the audiobooks and had a great time! In Stalking Jack the Ripper we get the dark, victorian mysterious London with bloody murders and Frankenstein experiments 🧪🫀 In Hunting Prince Dracula the story starts of with a Murder on the Orient Express kind of vibe and then takes place in a Bulgarian old creepy castle that belonged to Prince Dracula, but is now an acedemy for future pathologists 🏰🦇 I loved book 2 even more then the first, it was soooo good!!!🙌🏻😱 perfect story, very good riddles and interesting characters. But it lived from the atmosphere & setting. I cannot wait to read the next books, though I am waiting for the german audiobook to be released... Did you read them?📖🥰 what do you think? Heute mal ein älteres Bild. Genau wie das Buch, wobei "alt" ein relativer Begriff ist. Denn wirklich alt ist das Buch nicht, doch der Hype ist längst verflogen und ich sehe es nicht mehr. Die guten Rezensionen haben neuen Büchern Platz gemacht. Ein bisschen schade finde ich es schon, daß alles so schnell verfliegt und man schlecht innehalten kann. Aber so ist es... Jedenfalls mag ich das Buch überhaupt nicht. Der Klappentext klang so gut und dann kam nichts bei raus. Es ist nicht das erste Buch der Autorin, das mich enttäuscht hat. Stalking Jack the Ripper 🗡 Eines meiner Jahreshighlights 2023 und der Grund, wieso ich meine Liebe zum Slow-Burn wiedergefunden hab 🤭 Also erstens: Thomas Cresswell. Okay das reicht eigentlich schon. Ich bin immer noch nicht über ihn hinweg (aber werde ich das jemals sein?) 😭 wahrscheinlich der feministischte Bookboyfriend, den ich habe und genau wie Audrey Rose seiner Zeit im Denken einfach voraus 🥺 Obwohl die Lovestory eher nebensächlich in der Story ist (oder gerade deswegen?) sind die Spannungen zwischen den beiden so deutlich zu spüren und es knistert die ganze Zeit. Wirklich Slow Burn at it's finest, was natürlich auch dem historischen Setting geschuldet ist :) Ich war einfach so gerne mit den beiden im viktorianischen London unterwegs 🫶🏻 Ich fand den Jack the Ripper Plot sehr gut umgesetzt und so nah an den Geschehnissen von damals, wie es mit der Story ging. Außerdem war alles, was abgeändert wurde nach der Geschichte erklärt! Das Ende war (für mich) leider ziemlich offensichtlich, aber das hat meinem Lesespaß nichts genommen und im zweiten Band fand ich den Plot dann auch wesentlich undurchsichtiger gestaltet. Zu Stalking Jack the Ripper von Kerri Maniscalco habe ich gemischte Rezensionen gelesen- entweder war es richtig gut, oder einfach nur schlecht bewertet. In einer schönen Leserunde mit der lieben @vivis_buecherlei haben wir das Buch in fast einer Woche gelesen und haben mit gerätselt. Dabei haben wir aber auch gemerkt, dass es einige Kapitel und Erzählstränge gab, die uns nicht ganz so gut gefallen haben bzw. uns auch nicht schlüssig waren, warum die Autorin diesen Weg gewählt hat. Aber am Ende waren wir uns einig, dass es eine gelungene Geschichte war. Alles in allem fand ich die Story sehr interessant. Manches hat mir allerdings gefehlt oder war mir zu kurz angeschnitten vorgekommen. Die Charaktere fand ich meist gut beschrieben, besonders Thomas mit seiner guten Auffassungsgabe mochte ich sehr. 🎀Rezension🎀 Titel : Stalking Jack the Ripper- Die Spur in den Schatten Autorin: Kerri Maniscalco Seiten: 414 Inhalt: London 1888: Audrey Rose, Tochter aus angesehenem Hause, deren Leben vorallem aus hübsch aussehen und dem Austausch des neusten Klatsches bei einem Tässchen Tee bestehen sollte, denkt gar nicht daran sich diesen Konventionen zu beugen. Mutig und selbstbestimmt führt sie ein Doppelleben. Heimlich studiert sie Gerichtsmedizin und arbeitet dabei an den Frauenlichen die der gefürchtete Serienmörder Jack the Ripper hinterlassen hat. Immer tiefer wagt sie sie sich in Abgründe, die zu dieser Zeit keine Frau freiwillig betreten hätte und muss bald feststellen, dass der Mörder vermutlich in ihrem eigenen Umfeld zu suchen ist. Meinung : Ich liebe einfach alles an dieser Geschichte. Wir haben ein wundervoll historisches Setting, eine fantastische Protagonistin, die ihrer Zeit weit voraus ist, Düsternis, eine Prise Romantik, unerwartete Wendungen und ein Ende das man so nicht kommen sieht. Jeder der Charaktere ist einzigartig. Und ein paar beigefügte Schwarzweiß-Fotos geben einen noch besseren Einblick in ein vergangenes Jahrhundert. (Davon hätten es gerne mehr sein können.) Der zweite Teil "Hunting Prince Dracula" wird in Rumänien spielen. 🌠 Ye Olde Crimes 🌠 Hey, Internet - been a little while. Not dramatically long, but still a good while since I last posted. I've got a few photos I've taken to try and tide me over whilst my room is getting redecorated, but right now, my life is feeling a little disrupted. That being said, I am continuing with my mission to showcase the books I still haven't read yet with a little combination #BookStack. #StalkingJackTheRipper by #KerriManiscalco is a series that I started over 6 years ago, listening to the audiobook at my old workplace to get me through the day whilst projects were weighing me down. I really enjoyed the first book, and my affection for the series deepened with book two #HuntingPrinceDracula. But then #EscapingFromHoudini happened, and my momentum got halted like suddenly pressing the brakes in a car - I despise book 3. All the character development and intrigue of the first 2 books is almost entirely wiped out in a bland, tasteless filler novel. So, when #CapturingTheDevil was released, I was hesitant. I could live with the memories of the first 2 books, forget the 3rd, but not knowing the ending wasn't appealing so I got the final book and tried to read it... Then drifted away and left it with only 4 chapters read. So I need to decide whether this series is worth completing, because I may need to reread 1-3 to remind myself of what's happening and I don't know if I can do book 3 a second time. . . . Stalking Jack the ripper Ich weiß nicht so genau wie ich es bewerten soll. Einerseits fande ich die Geschichte richtig toll mit ihren düsteren Geschehnissen wie früher die Forensik, Leichenschau usw betrieben wurde. Anderseits bin ich auch immer mal mit den Gedanken abgedriftet weil ich es als sehr langatmig empfand. 𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐽𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑅𝑖𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑟-𝐾𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑖 𝑀𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑠𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑐𝑜 Wie findet ihr Bücher, die aus geschichtlichen Ereignissen etwas eigenes machen? Ich habe den Schreibstil der Autorin schon in Kingdom of the Wicked geliebt. Deshalb wollte ich es mit Stalking Jack the Ripper auch probieren, obwohl es normalerweise nicht so mein Genre ist. Allerdings konnte mich die Geschichte absolut begeistern! Wir verfolgen die junge Audrey Rose, die gerne Gerichtsmedizinerin werden möchte, in einer Zeit, in der die Tochter eines Lords sich besser für Teegesellschaften und Kleider interessieren sollte. Als dann eine Reihe rätselhafter Morde beginnt, sucht sie zusammen mit dem Studenten Thomas nach Hinweisen. Ich fand die Geschichte super spannend und fesselnd. ~ Neuzugänge und Kaufverbote ~ Meine Neuzugänge der letzten Woche. Und ich würde am liebsten alle sofort anfangen. Bei neuen Büchern habe ich wirklich gar keine Kontrolle mehr über mein Leseverhalten. Aber nun ein bisschen mehr zu den Büchern. •Blue Period 7: Den Anime habe ich sehr geliebt und da ich denke, dass da keine Fortsetzung mehr kommen wird, wird sich jetzt dem Manga gewidmet. •Stalking Jack the Ripper: Eigentlich sollten es gestern nur 2 Bücher werden. Und eigentlich habe ich noch Kingdom of the Wicked 2 hier liegen und könnte die Reihe erstmal beenden. Aber dann habe ich einen Deal mit mir selbst gemacht: Das Buch darf mit, dafür aber ein Kaufverbot bis zu meinem Geburtstag, dazu unten mehr. •No longer lost: Ich habe kürzlich Band 1 beendet und die Reihe passt für mich einfach zum Frühling, den ersten warmen Tagen und May schreit einfach Sonne und Wärme, also passt es sogar jetzt sofort. •Like water in your hands: In meiner persönlichen Bubble macht das ein bisschen die Runde, vor allem als Band 2 rauskam (@stepping_between_words ) und dann wollte ich es unbedingt lesen. Und dann gestern in der Buchhandlung nehme ich es in die Hand und die Buchhändlerin spricht mich an, meint sie liest es auch gerade und obwohl sie eigentlich gar keine Romance liest, liebt sie das Buch. Der Rest ist Geschichte. •Yellowface & Divine Rivals: Geschenke zu meinem Abschluss. ~~ Habt ihr euch schon mal ein Buchkaufverbot gesetzt? Ich ja noch nie, obwohl das meinem gigantischen Sub mal gut tun würde. Aber jetzt habe ich das mal entschieden, einfach weil das hier nur ein kleiner Teil von den Büchern ist, die ich am liebsten sofort lesen will. Aber wegen der Arbeit komme ich jetzt weit weniger zum Lesen und bin froh, wenn ich diese 5 Bücher allein bis zu meinem Geburtstag schaffe, wo das Kaufverbot auslaufen soll. Bin mal gespannt, wie es laufen wird. Bisher bin ich motiviert und 2 Bücher sind davon ausgenommen, weil das Bücher sind, die ich ohne Ausnahme am ET brauche. Beide erscheinen übrigens am 2. Mai. Wer weiß, was das sein könnte?

THREE YEARS OF BOOKSTAGRAM 💚 Hello lovelies, I almost forgot to do this kind of post but I've just realised that this account is three years old now! I'm honestly so surprised I've had the commitment to keep it going for so long, since there have been moments when I'd been so tempted to stop and delete it altogether. However, I am SO GLAD I didn't. I've met incredible readers and friends along the way, and finally found an accepting place where I can share my literary thoughts and opinions. This community has helped me so much these past couple years, when I was going through some rough times and needed something to channel my thoughts, and I will forever be grateful for the incredible support.
