Hello! My name’s Tanwen and I have endometriosis. I was diagnosed in 2020 but I have been symptomatic for over 10 years. I really struggle with my diet as I never know what’s going to trigger a flare up, and cause extremely bad bloating. So I have decided to try this intense diet to see if it’ll help me get rid of any inflammation and to see what foods work for me. This diet consists of an elimination phase and a reintroduction phase. The first 30 days, you avoid the foods mentioned above and for the next 60 days you slowly reintroduce one food at a time in small amounts to see how your body reacts. Pudding for breakfast?! Absolutely! 😋 This healthy rice pudding is a great start to the day. ☀️ It's high in protein and fiber but low in carbs and fat - and will fill you up for under 150 calories per serving. The secret is konjac root! Makes 2 servings 2 egg yolks 1 3/4 c. dairy or plant milk Sweetener to taste (I use a few drops of liquid Stevia) 1 Tbs. arrowroot starch 2 scoops 365 Collagen Protein powder 2 tsp. konjac root powder Dash of salt 1 package rice-shaped konjac noodles (5 calories each) 2 tsp. unsalted butter or margarine 2 tsp. vanilla extract In a saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks, 1/2 c. milk, sweetener, arrowroot, collagen powder, and salt. Put the pan over medium-low heat and whisk in the rest of the milk and the konjac noodles. Cook, whisking constantly, until it just comes to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla. Pour into two bowls and enjoy warm or chilled. (Pudding will thicken as it cools.) Enjoy! This salad is a complete meal: protein, healthy fat, fiber-rich colorful vegetables. It’s chock full of vital nutrients, such as the nutrients found in the ground beef: iron, vitamin B12, and every essential amino acid! Red meat has had a bad rap in the past. Fear not red meat is still on the table! In studies, red meat has not been shown to cause heart disease when part of a diet low in processed foods and sugar. Choose quality red meat: pasture-raised and organic. Pasture-raised meaning the animals are eating their natural diet of grass and have room to roam. Think of meat as a condiment, or taking up a quarter of your plate. Aim for half your plate to be colorful non-starchy vegetables, and the final quarter can be a starchy vegetable or whole grain. AIP diet day 2! This was a good dinner! Warm balsamic vinegar salad with a sweet potato and chicken wings smothers in peach ginger sauce. Breakfast: Left over turkey and sweet potato meat balls with a cup of bone broth Snacks: Raw carrots, celery, mango salad and frozen bananas Lunch: Left over chicken tenders with broccoli and mushroom sauté How I’m feeling: I’m energized in the mornings more so than I ever have been. But I am crashing hard come evening time. I struggle through getting dinner cooked and then I can barely hold my eyes open. Hoping this gets better as I detox. Melt cacao butter in a bowl on a Bain Marie 2. Mix coconut cream, sifted matcha powder, and vanilla bean seeds together with the melted cacao butter 3. Pour mixture into silicon chocolate moulds 4. Let it set on the bench top before moving into the freezer Demould and enjoy 😊

VONGOLE FOR LUNCH :: I had clams (vongole) and nomato sauce in the freezer making this a quick and easy feed. I thinly sliced half a red onion and a couple of cloves of smoked garlic. I sautéed them in olive oil til soft and starting to brown before adding the defrosted nomato sauce, salt, pepper and the still frozen clams. I let it all simmer til the clams were heated through. Topped with garlic powder, Celtic sea salt and a bit of fresh parsley. It’s a nice thick sauce which can be eaten by itself. Sometimes I put it over sweet potato noodles, spaghetti squash or a baked sweet potato - or any kind of pasta if you aren’t eating AIP. Yesterday, I toasted a piece of homemade sourdough bread that I had in the freezer (as I was looking for fast and easy) and used that to scoop up the sauce. Any way you choose to serve it, depending on your unique dietary requirements … it will be delicious! Ps. Nomato sauce is a substitute for tomato sauce … it’s made with a whole bunch of vegetables, excluding tomatoes. For a number of reasons, I'm doing this journey on my own. Between the difficulty of feeding children and the expense of fresh, whole foods, it just makes more sense for me to do this alone right now. What that means, though, is that sometimes it is really hard. I promised my youngest child that I would bring them some pizza from Little Caesars this week, and I didn't realize until I had it in the car for a minute drive home how badly I would want to eat the crazy bread. I'm still in the elimination phase and I don't know what specifically hurts my stomach and what doesn't, so it would be unwise to try eating something with several ingredients in it that I'm not used to again. Most days I feel like this is completely worth it because I do feel so much better overall, but sometimes it makes me sad to realize that this is just one more thing that my body does in a way that is wonky and unreliable. I would really like to be able to eat the same things as everybody else and do the same things as everybody else without any worry about side effects or consequences. But that just isn't the reality that I live in. And I know I'm not alone in that. That's why I've chosen to share my journey. Eating out when you follow a particular autoimmune friendly diet - I’m doing adapted AIP at the moment to help me with my #rheumotoidarthritis can be a bit of a nightmare. I generally don’t mind it as I like cooking and choosing the best ingredients to go into my meals, but last week my partner and I were able to sneak away from the baby and work and have a lunchtime date at a new Thai food place. I find Thai food can be very AIP and gluten free friendly and I love the bold flavours. Just in case I did pop in a gluten/dairy enzyme after. I am on day 14 of the Autoimmune Protocol diet and these are the changes I have noticed already: 🩷 Bloating has reduced drastically. I now only bloat after exercise for a bit. 🩷 No endo pain other than painful periods (which could be due to my recent surgery) 🩷 Better skin 🩷 Happier And it’s only been 14 days !!! I must admit for the first 3 days I was more bloated because of the amount of fibre I was consuming and I felt really tired and fed up because of the intense food cravings and lack of sugar but I pushed through and now I no longer struggle with this. I get the odd craving but it goes very quickly. TOP TIPS 🩷 Trust the process and don’t become obsessive. Stress causes flares and symptoms and so the diet will have less effect. 🩷 If you go out to eat choose all AIP compliant food, then say you cannot have dairy, nuts, gluten, sugar and soy. Make sure they check with the chef none of this is being used. Best bet is to order steak, sweet potato fries and salad. 🩷 Keep hydrated. I drink water with a slice of cucumber and lemon in it or lemon and turmeric tea. 🩷 Ensure you are having enough protein! Try and include protein in every meal. I snack on slices of salmon in between meals if I get hungry. 🩷 Exercise alongside to keep your mind and body focused and energised. 🩷 Increase your portion sizes as you won’t be having any carbs to bulk out your meals! 🦋🦋Sourdough! Who knew? Never had it, so thought I’d try it. I’ve noticed since eliminating/greatly reducing gluten (bread) in my diet that when I have “too much” my stomach hurts. 🦋Although sourdough bread has a higher calorie count I find my “bread craving” is satisfied with just 1 piece (vs 2 of white bread). 4/27/24-Alright I'm starting back at Day 1. I will mostly be eating beef. I definitely feel best on Lion. I will use "full carnivore" as a tool to add the occasional variety. But I'm done with plant toxins. I tried some steamed veggies here and there to experiment and oxalate toxicity is the real deal. I did 99% beef since April 1st and it's been 27 days... A few of those days I allowed a very small serving of broccoli as an experiment and now I know...never again. Not for me. Aside from my morning coffee and the occasional spice/mustard, or possible Stevia/monk fruit in the far future, maybe a rare onion or pickle...veggies have no place near my autoimmune condition.❌🥦 Cheers to fully embracing the Carnivore WOE. 4/26/24-Day 26- Did a non lion diet experiment and tried some broccoli with coconut oil...big mistake. Neuropathy in hands and feet returned.😳🤔Also, had a clean Dijon mustard with my beef patties last night and got stuffy pretty quickly after. How is it possible to be this sensitive to everything? Honestly, I'm feeling a little defeated this morning and wishing I didn't make the choice to try condiments or especially veggies at this time. Nedávno, když jsem ráno běhal, jsem se zastavil na krátkou meditaci. Zrovna byla zima a dost mě kvůli sklerodermii bolely ruce a já si uvědomil, že bych měl své bolesti poděkovat. Za poslední roky jsem bolesti fyzické a psychické prožil spoustu. Vždycky jsem to bral jako trest za svůj život, který předtím nebyl moc dobrý. Teď si ale uvědomuji, že to je ten nejlepší učitel, i když přísný, který mě vede k tomu žít lepší život a měl bych být vděčný za to, na jakou cestu mě přivedl. Snažím se každý den překonávat sám sebe a žít co nejlépe umím. Často si říkám, že by to bez toho všeho vůbec nepřišlo a já bych se dál svým životním stylem ničil. Super easy pasta dish for warmer days and AIP friendly! Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta Ingredients •12oz (gluten-free) spaghetti • 12 jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined • Ground pepper • Red pepper flakes • 4 tablespoons oil mixture (2 tbsp avocado oil and 2 tbsp melted vegan butter) • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, plus lemon wedges for garnish • ½ cup dry white wine • ¼ cup torn fresh basil • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped Directions 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil 2. Add spaghetti and cook as the label directs 3. Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat 4. Pat the shrimp dry, then season with salt and pepper. Add the oil mixture to the pan and cook shrimp for until golden on one side. Turn the shrimp and add the garlic. Cook until garlic is fragrant. Transfer shrimp to a plate 5. Add the lemon juice and wine and bring to a boil, adding the red pepper flakes 6. Cook until the sauce is reduced by half 7. Ik adviseer mijn klanten altijd om biologisch te kopen. Natuurlijk begrijp ik, dat het helaas niet voor iedereen is weggelegd. Ik had het nog laatst over met een vriendin van mij. Hoe belachelijk zij vond, dat biologisch zo duur was, en of het niet goedkoper kon. Toen legde ik uit, dat biologisch eigenlijk redelijk de prijs vraagt, dat de boeren zouden mogen verdienen. Regulier wordt echt zo hard op de prijs gedrukt, door de grote supermarkten, dat de boeren eigenlijk niet krijgen wat zij verdienen. Daarbij, hoe fijn is het dat biologische boeren beter zorgen voor dier, plant en aarde? In ieder geval, als de klant mij dus vraagt “Moet ik nou echt alles biologisch gaan kopen?” Dan is mijn antwoord => First of all: niks moet, alles mag. Ik vind het wel fijn als men weloverwogen en bewuste keuzes kan maken. Gebaseerd op kennis. Dan nog speelt geld natuurlijk mee, dat begrijp ik. De klant weet in ieder geval wel, de hoe en de wat en kan zij/hij misschien wel met mijn adviezen aan de slag. Verder geef ik ook nog aan, dat in seizoen en diepvriesproducten kopen vaak goedkoper is (en behouden redelijk hun voedingswaarde). Over de dirty dozen en de clean 15: elk jaar wordt door de EWG (Environmental Working Group) een meting gedaan naar bestrijdingsmiddelen op groenten en fruit. De lijst die zij aanleveren bevat de meest en minst bespoten groente en fruit. Paar conclusies: gezondheidswaarde neemt hard af bij gebruik van pesticiden etc., en in sommige metingen doken sporen op van pesticiden die al lang verboden zijn. Met name zwangere vrouwen en jonge kinderen zouden moeten oppassen. Koop jij biologisch?
