After Vivi had her heart broken by Rhys Penhallow when she was 19, she did the one thing her aunt always told her not to, she mixed vodka and witchcraft. She jokingly cursed Rhys as he left town. Nine years later, Rhys returns to town to charge the ley lines and the curse takes full effect, spreading to the ley lines and cursing the whole town. Now Vivi and Rhys have to put their past to the side and work together to undo this curse before it destroys the town. A fun Halloween read for the season, this book was decent. Not my typical genre of book but I still enjoyed it even if I didn’t love it. The characters where fun and I loved Rhys’s witty humor. The plot was intriguing even if it wasn’t out of this world. Overall, just a fun enjoyable read for the holiday!

At seventeen, Lenora Hope Hung her sister with a rope Stabbed her father with a knife And took her mother’s happy life “It wasn’t me,” Lenora said But she’s the only one not dead. Kit McDeere is a caregiver that’s struggling to find a job after getting off a six month suspension. The only one available is taking care of Lenora Hope at her home, Hope’s End. Lenora Hope was accused of murdering her entire family over 50 years ago, but there was never any evidence to take her to trial. Now, Lenora is unable to speak or move any part of her body other than her left hand due to a serious of health incidents and she relies on her caregivers to help her. Kit is hesitant at first, but her curiosity gets the better of her as she tries to find out why, or even if, Lenora Hope is guilty of what everyone accused her of. This is one of my favorite Riley Sager books! The buildup was great and I was left guessing until the end (well except for one thing because I spoiled myself by checking to see how many pages the book was and the final page has the biggest twist of the book in giant bold letters that were impossible to miss). Though I did love this book, the ending did feel quite rushed with characters’ motivations changing at the drop of a hat and no resolution at all to the storyline with the detective. If the ending was just fleshed out a bit more, this definitely would have been my new favorite book by Riley Sager, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.

💗mini BOOK REVIEW💗 📖:Out on a limb 🌟rating: 4 ⭐️ * swipe for description* I throughly enjoyed this book and liked how it displayed healthy relationships who went through an uncomfortable situation. Typically with the romance that I read the communication is trash and thus issues occur but I would say that the communication between the Win & Bo was amazing!! They genuinely felt like each others other half from the first time they met. Overall the book was such a refreshing read!! #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookworm #bookofthemonthya #bookoplathon #booklover #books #bookreview

Annabel, Chloe, Esther, and Tanya are surprised when all four of them receive a letter in the mail. Poppy Greer, a girl that went to school with the four women ten years ago is getting married and wants the four of them to be her bridesmaids! She invites them to a private island for her hen party and the girls eagerly accept though one things seems off. None of them have spoken to Poppy since before they graduated 10 years ago, and they weren’t exactly friends. They actually bullied Poppy every chance they got, so why would she ask them to be her bridesmaids? Does Poppy have something else in mind for these four? I want to start off by saying I was rooting for the killer the entire time. These four women are absolutely terrible people. Not only the way they treated Poppy when they were teenagers, but even as adults they suck. Normally, it’s very hard to do the unlikable narrator, but I felt this book did it well because that’s the whole point. You’re supposed to hate them. The book isn’t without its flaws though. I found it very predictable and saw almost every twist and secret coming from a mile away. Even with that though, I still enjoyed this book. Also, thank you to my friend @ashley_jankowski10 for recommending this book to me a few weeks ago. Funnily enough, I had actually bought this book less than two weeks before she recommended it but was busy reading something else. Glad I got around to it though!

Casey Fletcher has been banished to spend the Fall at her family’s lake house on Lake Greene. Her career as an actress is all but ruined after grieving her husband’s death leads Casey to alcoholism. While at the lake house, Casey saves a woman from drowning. This woman is none other than Katherine Royce, former supermodel who, along with her tech titan husband Tom, has just bought the house across the lake. Bored with the isolation, Casey begins watching her new neighbors, seeing the troubles within their marriage. This culminates the morning when Casey, in a drunken stupor, hears Katherine scream only to find that, according to Tom, she just went home early without him, but something about his story doesn’t add up. Anyone that’s been around my page for a while knows that I’m a big fan of Riley Sager’s books. With this being the 5th book by him that I’ve read, this is no exception. As much as I enjoyed it though, it was definitely weaker than most of his other books. I really liked the plot though the twists (and there are a lot of them) are really hit or miss. Some worked well, others I actively disliked. Slight spoiler but the twist of the whole thing being supernatural in nature felt incredibly out of place, but I didn’t think it was too bad. My biggest issue though, is how much I disliked Casey. I get that you’re probably not supposed to like the alcoholic that keeps pushing everyone away when they try to help, but she really got on my nerves some times. I won’t do into too much detail about my main issue with her as it is a major spoiler, but once you learn some detail of her marriage with Len, she quickly became one of my most hated narrators of all time.

☞ book review ☞ ⋆ ⋆ i wanted to love this book SO badly. all the great reviews i read and all the good things i’ve heard has had this on my tbr list f.o.r.e.v.e.r. ⇢ from the start it was definitely slow, but i was preparing myself for a slow burning hot love story. i did enjoy going through autumns life and found myself getting invested in her relationships with her friends and family. ⇢ now for the parts i didn’t like- the slow burn throughout the book left me needing SO much more than what the ending was. to go through that whole book and have the ending so abrupt and sudden like that ruined the whole book for me. ⇢ after everything autumn went through- the challenges of life and highschool and first (and second) loves- she deserved so much more than what she was given and i wish the ending was anything but what it was. ⇢ 2/5 ⭐ #bookstagram #book #bookgiveaway #booktok #bookofthemonthya #booklover #bookishconnections #read #bookstagram

TORIE | I know people find @bookofthemonth to be hit or miss, but for me personally, it’s helped me discover books (and authors) that absolutely wouldn’t have been on my radar otherwise and that ended up being some of my favorites of 2022! This stack is a quick glance of my favorite #BookOfTheMonth reads from last year. Not all of them were released in 2022, but I read and loved each of them last year. Do you have Book of the Month? If so, do you like it? If not, what made you decide that it wasn’t for you? Books featured: - Other Birds: a magical realism mystery that was one part cozy and one part intriguing, with enough twists to keep me invested the whole way through! - As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow: a YA masterpiece about a young Syrian woman in the midst of war - True Biz: another YA story, this one a captivating blend of education about, and immersion in, the Deaf community - Beautiful Country: easily one of my top memoirs ever, a gorgeously written story of poverty, racism, and triumph for a young Chinese-American immigrant - All the Dangerous Things: a thriller about a kidnapped toddler that sucked me in and spat me out Did you read any of these? If so, did you love them as much as I clearly did?

#ReviewedByTorie 5/5 How is it that I’m still stumbling upon my favorite reads of the year in these final few weeks of 2022? Suffice to say that whatever expectations I had for As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow, the novel far exceeded them. I started this book expecting a slow burn story with heavy, detailed language. What I got was a compulsively readable story filled with can’t-look-away moments of devastation juxtaposed with stunning moments of humanity and beauty on virtually every page, yet without the heavy-handedness or over-the-top vibes you might expect from a novel written in this style. Before the Syrian revolution, the protagonist, a young woman named Salama, was a pharmacy student with a loving family and a dream of living abroad and traveling the world. When we meet her, she is working as a volunteer doctor, desperately trying to figure out her next step: does she flee Syria with her pregnant sister-in-law? Does she become a more active member of the revolution? Is she a coward for wanting to abandon her home, or a fool for wanting to stay? Is there even a “right” choice? Katouh is a brilliant writer who not only humanizes Syrian citizens—moving us away from thinking of them as a mass of people in a far-off place—but makes them relatable. It’s easy to empathize with the lives they had, the people they cared about, the futures they planned, the things they valued. I’ve seen this novel described as a “love letter to Syria,” and I think that’s as much a testament to the people as to the place itself. I didn’t realize that it’s billed as YA, and I definitely got those vibes, but only in the best possible way. If YA isn’t your thing, don’t use that as an excuse to miss out on this book. If you liked All My Rage, this one is a natural complement as well. Oh, and if you’re not already convinced, a particularly significant moment left me flat-out sobbing, which I do with maybe one book every two years. Consider me sold. But head’s up: there’s a lot of violence, so look up CWs or message me if need be. Have you read this one? If not, is it on your TBR? P.S. I think it’s an orange tree, not lemon, but the matchy vibes were too good to pass up.

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚 AKARNAE 🧚🏻‍♀️ Bri 🐉 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I read this book when I was 15 and it made me fall in love with lynettes writing. It's an easy but memorable read inviting you in to the world of Medora filled with loads of adventures. I will forever recommend anything Lynette writes. Amber 🦦 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Lynette Noni has a magical writing gift that turns every piece of literature she writes into a work of art. ‘Akarnae’ is the perfect mix of ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Narnia’, & ‘Percy Jackson’, mixed with its own uniqueness. If you’re thinking about getting into fantasy but you’re scared (cause let’s face it - it’s kinda scary 😂) this is DEFINITELY the place to start. Jayden 🌳 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I fell in LOVE with Lynnette’s writing reading her other series and this was no different. There’s a magic to the way Lynnette writes her worlds & characters and you can definitely see her passion and love through this book. I absolutely loved getting to know all the characters and my introduction to the world of Medora. Cannot wait to keep reading this series… because you simply cannot stop. Shannon 🌻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 It definitely took me a little bit to get in to. I'm not a huge fantasy reader but once I did it was such a fun read. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and learning more about the world of Medora. • 🏷 #bookstagram #booktok #book #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookrecomendation #fantasyreviewers #youngadultfantasy #fantasybooks #fantasyreadersofinstagram #akarnaeacademy #bookclub #bookofthemonth #bookofthemonthya

🙃 I know. It’s a fan favorite but I wasn’t a big fan of the series 🙃 trust me when I say I tried soooo hard but I think I’m just too much of Twilight lover that no other human girl/ vampire boyfriend series can steal my heart. I mean…am I wrong? The standards were set pretty high for me when the movies came out and 7th grade me was all about the hype 😩😆 Crave is a day dream in a novel for any book lover in high school. Boarding school setting, hot supernatural characters, unleashed secret powers - I mean the list goes on and on. I think if I was the target audience for this book, I would’ve been all over it but I’m not and unfortunately I couldn’t get into it. I felt weird almost but hey, as a fantasy book reader I freaking tried, okay?!? The Flatshare ~book review~ (ft. my cat 🐈) (spoiler-free!) “It’s weird how easily you can get to know someone from the traces they leave behind when they go.” - The Flatshare I absolutely loved this book. I enjoyed the contrast between the two main characters as well as their similarities. I really liked the love interest, Leon, and his peculiarities. As well as Tiffy’s. At first glance you’d think this is just your average, wholesome, contemporary romance novel but it also depicts the long-term effects of emotional abuse in relationships. I think this is a beautiful story that portrays the importance of communication, familial relationships, romantic relationships, and friendships. While also consisting of comedic elements that had me laughing out loud as I read. Highly, highly recommend! 🏷 #theflatshare #book #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #bookrecommendations #booklover #bookworm #booksbooksbooks #bookofthemonthya #yabookreview #yabooksofinstagram #booknerd #bookcommunity #bookaddict #bookreview #bookish #booksofinstagram

I’m really tinkering back and forth as to how many stars I want to give this book. Did I enjoy it? Yes. But did I have a hard time picking it up once I put it down? Also yes. It took me about a month to read get through it and I think I know why. Colleen Hoover has an amazing way of hooking you right into a book from page 1. This is my third CoHo book and all three sucked me right into an emotional journey. I liked that this book wasn’t too long and I enjoyed the last 50 or so pages of this book, when it all came together. This is a classic romance story. Girl wants to “save” the boy from his past. They’re FWB. Girl waits around, while boy beats around the bush because his past haunts him. It’s something we’ve all seen play out in books and movies before. I think I was just over it. I am glad I read this one, but it isn’t my favorite. Although it was an enjoyable read, I found some parts to be “teenie bopper” and “been there done that”. I didn’t enjoy the chapters in Miles POV. The writing was choppy and ridiculously repetitive and obsessive. Overall I really did enjoy reading this book and reading the different points of view. For me it just loses some points because it wasn’t too original of a story line. I’m not too sure this particular book was worth the hype. I might have liked it more if there was no hype..🤭 Read it or Skip it: Give this a read if romance novels are your jam or if you want to check out the hype. 3.5⭐️

Book Review(s)! The Prison Healer and the Guilded Cage by Lynette Noni Writing a book review lately feels like pulling teeth but I have some catching up to do! Calling all YA fantasy readers. The Prison Healer follows Kiva, a prisoner in the ruthless prison Zalindov and the challenges she faces once the notorious Rebel Queen is captured - she must fight to keep the Rebel Queen alive, and do so at whatever cost, including facing the lethal Trial by Ordeal. Can Kiva survive the four elemental tasks, that no other inmate has ever succeeded in doing? Kiva is far from your typical YA female lead, she is so strong and fierce, while also being sensitive and caring. As a whole, all of the characters complimented each other perfectly; where one character lacked, another character excelled. Finally, the love interest is fun and slow burning. Also a BIG YES to the setting - a prison?! I’ve never read a book quite like it and it only makes me want to read more. It was atmospherical, well-developed and such a unique setting. I didn’t find myself getting bored, even though the location was the same the entire book. The best thing about this book was the ending. I flew through the last 50 pages as it was so incredibly fast paced - it included plot twist after plot twist. I should have seen it coming but was completely surprised by the ending! The ending alone sealed the deal for me and made me anxious to read the next book. The second book, The Guilded Cage was better than the first to me. It definitely doesn’t suffer from ‘second book syndrome.’ It’s such a strong sequel that I feel is even better when it comes to developed characters, plot, and writing. I really need to stop reading series that aren’t complete yet, the next book comes out in June! #bookreview #theprisonhealer #theguildedcage #lynettenoni #bookstagram #bookofthemonthya #bookrecommendations

Happy Monday, TAS fans! 😀 I want to share a new reviewer’s perspective on Ranger. Ahem… “ I wasn’t very fond of the Ranger character at the beginning, but then I started to get him and as the story progressed, he started to win me over.” Lol! Such a typical reaction to Ranger Danger. 🖤🔥 Here is an excerpt from her ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review: ✨ fast paced and packed with action, “Trial & Tribulations had me hooked from the very beginning. Kate’s character was relatable and believable. Tension was thick, emotions were running high, and the fate of Kate and her loved ones was hanging by a thin thread. I loved the tension, the drama, and the mess of feelings that kept the fate of Kate, Pete, and Ranger combined.✨ ~Rabia Tanveer for Readers’ Favorite Can’t wait to unleash all the riveting drama on you this April 1!!!! . #enemiestolovers #kindleromance #kindleunlimitedromance #mustread #fivestarbook #tbr #bookstagram #booktok #bookofthemonthya #bookdragonsclub #bookstamums #bookreview #bookshelf #booknerd #bookaddict #readersofinstagram #readers #readingbythemoon #readingromance #readingrecommendations #darkromance #wealwaysreadbookclub #theacademysaga

✨The Hating Game ✨ Writer - Sally thorne Genre - romcom Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman are executive assistant to the co CEO's of B&G and they sit across each other every day, hating every moment of it,or do they ? I won't be surprised if you hated this book ,I have mixed feelings about this book so here it goes... Lucy and Josh are psychopaths disguised as normal people . Lucy is a small-in-size, sunshine girl who has this obsession called Josh but uh-huh she says that it's " hatred". From the beginning only she's so involved in" hating" josh that she has learnt the weekly color pattern of his shirts and most of her passwords involve his name. In my eyes Lucy has been suffering from a serious condition called denial.Lucy is that main character who drives you mad by her decision making skills. And Lucy is so pervy (hence relatable but annoying), which was really fun to read , I laughed out loud quite a few times. You know sometimes you simp on a person but you're simping in your thoughts, you don't say it out loud but Lucy here? Oh she doesn't hold back she says it all which ends up being either funny or cringe worthy. Lucy wants a nice guy but when she gets him she can't stop thinking about the "not so nice guy" , again relatable but can drive you mad. Let's come to our handsome hunk now who's too big to be considered human at times(we love that) , I present to you Joshua Templeman. First of all what in the gorgeous hell Josh why are you so hot ? (Lucy has been asking the same question too ). He's the grumpy hot guy who keeps his room clean and uses weekly planners, he's also a sarcastic asshole to Lucy sometimes , but honestly I enjoyed the banter. Josh has also been obsessed with Lucy since the first time he saw her ,he takes the mad obsession to an another level by painting his place with the color of Lucy's eyes(I too want someone to paint his room black for me). Josh has been very weird at times , maybe due to the daddy issues , I don't know man. I don't understand there's a woman who wants you , you obviously want her , why the stupid wait thing josh ? -continued in comments 😂 Rating 2️⃣/5️⃣ 3️🔴Q-Tell me one book you hated / couldn't complete?

•R E V I E W• FIRE KEEPER’S DAUGHTER I learned a lot about the Ojibwe culture, mixed in with some mystery and suspense, which I enjoyed! I think it was a little dragged out and long, but also insightful and filled with important messages surrounding injustice faced by a large % of Native American women. I think the author tried to wrap an interesting storyline around some important lessons, which is what caused it to be so long. That considered, I think she did a great job! The last 25% of the book was ACTION PACKED. I also went into this one blind, as I usually do, and was so surprised with the turn this book took early on! Swipe for Goodreads synopsis >>

“Had she really thought I would not know him? I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell, I would know him blind, by the way his breath came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death , at the end of the world. “ -Song of Achilles ✨ If you know anything about Greek mythology, you know this is going to be a tragedy going in. But oof. This book made me feel so many emotions but mostly just pain. You start of this book with oh my these tiny boys are so cute, and then you end with oh, I know I should’ve seen this coming, but why does this hurt so much. 10/10 recommend ✨ here’s some quotes I liked ✨ . . . . . . . . . . . . #bookstagram #bookofthemonthya #book #booklover #bookstagrammer #bookstagrampakistan #bookquotes #bookquote #romancebookstagram #yabookstagram #songofachilles #songofachillesfanart #achillesandpatroclus #patroclusandachilles #aestheticblog #aestheticbookstagram #f4f #l4l #blogger #bookblogger #madelinemiller

I fully believe that I could solve a murder based on how many true crime podcasts I listen to 🔪 Which is basically the premise of GOOD GORLS GUIDE TO MURDER and GOOD GURL, BAD BLOOD … except Pip is successful and I …. probably wouldn’t be In GGGTM, Jackson weaves a seemless story of Pip and Ravi working together to solve a murder - one that affected nearly everyone in Fairview. GGGTM gave me Serial vibes, Emma In The Night, and Pretty Little Liars. It was a 4.5 ⭐️ read for me!! GOOD GALS, BAD BLOOD, Pip and Ravi work together to locate a friends missing brother. While GGBB was still a twisting ride, it felt confusing at parts, and like it had taken something from GGGTM. I did however, love the lil twist at the end. Easily 4 ⭐️ s!! So basically what I’m saying is all it could take is a small town murder to start my own podcast and be a super detective 🕵️‍♀️ #goodgirlsguidetomurder #gggtm #goodgirlbadblood #hollyjackson #yabooks #yathrillers #thrillerbookshelf #thrillerbooks #thrillerreads #shelfie #bookreview #yabookreview #bookreviewer #bookishpost #bookphotography #bookofthemonthya #bookofthemonth #bookreview #murderpodcasts #podcastbookclub #podcastbooks

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn book review. I officially finished up my BOTM 2021 reading challenge with this book. I usually don’t go for young adult books, but I was drawn to this one because the cover was beautiful and the premise intrigued me. This book follows two teenagers, Annie and Clay, on a summer music tour. Clay is the “bad boy” of country music and is tasked with inviting country music sweetheart Annie Mathers to join him on tour in order to clean up his image. Annie is the daughter of two country stars herself, both who died tragically as a result of their lifestyle of fame. Annie and Clay both have lots of demons in their life and this story dives into how they heal from them. Of course Annie and Clay also have a romance because it is a young adult book. I absolutely love country music. I grew up listening to the older stuff with my grandfather and went though a phase where I was very much obsessed with Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash so I as able to catch a lot of the subtle references to their relationship in this book. I loved all the characters in the book and how the author talked about serious subjects with depth, something that is usually lacking in the YA books I read. I will say, though, I felt the story would’ve worked better if the characters were older rather than 18. Some elements, regarding Clay, were just a little too unbelievable for me. Overall, this was a light, easy Thanksgiving break read for me!
