PLEASE overlook my childhood themed, messy room. It’s been blackberry winter here in WV and it was too cold yesterday to workout outside 🤪 I took a few days off after Saturday’s workout because thanks to blackberry winter ( cold & rainy weather) my neck was flaring up more than usual. I came back yesterday with just a short 30 minute Booty workout since I didn’t feel like doing upper body but needed to get a workout in. For the workout I had 3x12 of DB squats, DB RDLs, Curtsey Lunges, Band Steps, Hip Thrusters, and Sumo Squat Pulses. Happy Monday, Sweeties! I did take a couple days off because honestly, I needed them. But today I hit it hard and will definitely be feeling it in the morning. I did a big glute day today and included hip thrusts (and single leg hip thrusts) using the couch since I haven’t gotten a bench quite yet. Hip thrusts are a great way to grow your glutes and they also help develop hip strength and lower body performance. Although tomorrow is an earlier than usual day at work; I’m still gonna try to squeeze in a workout before because I can’t just keep skipping days! Time for the 2nd half of leg day THE ACCESSORIES!! I always like to hit the different muscle groups in my leg accessories to make sure I am getting a whole lower body workout. Now lunges 🤪 Anyone who knows me, knows of my love/hate relationship with lunges. You can however get me to do Curtsey lunges which have the added benefit of not only being a compound exercises (love those) but also get is into your hip stabilisers in a way that regular lunges won't. Woohoo nicely done Saturday crew, today was about that lower body strength (particularly functional strength) so once we had warmed we had Sumo Squats and Front Squats to start. Then we moved into Curtsey lunges with the front foot elevated and a nice heavy farmer's carry. To finish off today we had 2 sets of Jumping Jacks and a run before back inside for a final stretch. “I don’t want to get big and muscly” What so many people say when you recommend lifting weights to get “toned”. 💪🏼 It actually takes a hell of a lot of hard work and dedication to get big and muscly. Yes some people can build muscle more easily but you have to have the right body type for that (mesomorph) and most people don’t. You can usually tell just by looking at someone which body type they are. When you see body builders they certainly haven’t got that way by lifting 10kg dumbbells a few times a week. 🥵 In order to get “toned” you need to build muscle and get lower body fat so you can see the muscle tone. I promise you won’t suddenly explode in to Popeye. 😝

Curtsey - CoreAlign or Reformer (Discount coupon at end) I guess it had to be done, a curtsey had to be pulled out this week. This exercise is awesome on the Reformer as well as the CoreAlign(CA). If you don't have a CA you can still adapt this exercise to the Reformer. The curtsey is a fabulous way to adapt the gait cycle to the reformer, mat or CoreAlign.
