📖 Book Review 📖 No synopsis, this is book 8 in a series and I don’t want to spoil anything ☺️ Never have I ever been so ENRAGED by a book that I loved. Angie Polaski is the worst character ever created and I hate her with all of my being. That being said, this story is intense and I could NOT put it down. Literally read this 485 page masterpiece in 3 days. KS books can be a slow burn at times, but not this one. It starts with action and doesn’t stop. If you don’t care about the character subplots and want to read this as a standalone, that’s totally doable. There’s enough context given that you won’t be lost. But I would be remiss not to recommend reading this series in its entirety (in order). Karin writes some of my favorite characters of all time and her books are like a warm hug when I pick them up (someone might want to check on me because considering the subject matter I might not be ok 😂). I can’t wait to read the next one, but I will wait because I will die inside when I’m caught up and have to wait an extended period for another book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Plusom je aj priblíženie súkromia postáv, pretože tak čitateľ lepšie pochopí niektoré ich konania. Autorka sa neštíti použiť drsný a vulgárnejší slovník, ktorý do príbehu pasuje. K postavám som si nevytvorila špeciálny vzťah, ale nevadili mi. Časom som však nadobudla pocit naťahovania deja a myslím si, že kniha mohla mať kľudne o sto strán menej. Tiež som vďaka Prológu odhalila skoro všetko. Inak sa jedná o veľmi dobré oddychové krimi, ktoré zhltnete rýchlo a ja si od autorky rada prečítam aj jej ďalšie knihy. The medical examiner Sara Linton, can’t say too much about her, because the books are different that the tv series, realizes that all the blood does not belong to the victim. There are bloody footprints that belong to a woman, who after losing that much blood will die soon if they don’t find her. The construction site belongs to a wealthy athlete, who Will believes has already gotten away with Rape. The race is on to find the injured woman & who killed the ex cop. I can’t say too much about it, but Betty is definitely in it. Toto je pre mňa objav roka 🥳😍 Aspoň teda jedna z viacerých, ale určite som veľmi rada, že som túto knihu čítala… Celý príbeh ma podmanil a pohltil… Toto je niečo pre milovníkov krimi, ktorí obľubujú aj nejaký ten “podpríbeh”, resp. súkromie vedľajších aj hlavných postáv… V tejto sa tiež pretriasava súkromný život detektíva, dosť veľmi, aj jeho priateľky… ich vzťah, vzťah detektíva so svojou šialenou ženou… proste brutal niečo… Obľúbila som si tak hlavného vyšetrovateľa ako aj súdnu lekárku (jeho priateľku) Sarah a boli ako vystrihnutí z reálneho života. Kľudne by mohli tie postavy žiť tu niekde medzi nami, pôsobilo to na mňa naozaj reálne a nič zveličené, nič prehnané. Všetko bolo tak, ako v kvlatinom krimi má byť😍 Veľmi, veľmi si prajem, aby aj ďalšie časti boli preložené - aj predošlé a aj tie nasledujúce… Kniha končila celkom mierne otvorene, čiže si to žiada (aspoň u mňa) nejaké to pokračovanie a určite si ho s radosťou prečítam… Celý čas som bola v napätí, čítalo sa to veľmi dobre. I didn't realize at the time that it was a part of a series. I read a couple more, all out of order, and this year, I started the Will Trent series from the beginning. I've done them all on audio, and Kathleen Early is an excellent narrator. The Kept Woman just reminds me how much I hate Angie. I do like that we learn a little more about her and her back story. She had a horrible life, but she is equally a horrible person. Dat beseft Will Trent zodra hij het verlaten pakhuis in Atlanta binnengaat, en het dode lichaam van een ex-politieagent aantreft. Van het lijk lopen bloederige voetsporen weg die erop wijzen dat een ander, mogelijk vrouwelijk slachtoffer, is meegenomen... om vervolgens spoorloos te verdwijnen. Het pakhuis is eigendom van een beroemde basketbalspeler – een lokale held die de duurste advocaten heeft ingehuurd, en die een aanklacht wegens verkrachting heeft weten te ontduiken. Voor Will – en voor patholoog-anatoom Sara Linton – wordt het nóg erger. This is by far the best book in the series!!!! I’m making my way through the Will Trent series and book 8 is amazing! It’s my favourite book in this series so far! This book is about one of the main characters Angie who you can’t help but love to hate! This story shows a side to her you ain’t seen before and I was here for it!! Here are some mini reviews for each: 📖 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 📖 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book is probably my least favourite instalment in the series so far as it wasn’t as gripping and there wasn’t as much character development as I have come to expect from these books, but it’s still a brilliant crime thriller, and it was interesting to learn more about Angie (although we were never going to feel any sympathy for her!). 📖 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐰 📖 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This one felt like a very different instalment in the series, but I found that very refreshing as I always wonder what Slaughter will do to keep us 100% committed to these fantastic characters. I loved seeing the characters in this different situation – Sara being held captive, Will desperate to do whatever it takes to find her. Of course it’s very character-driven with their relationship at the heart of this story, but the investigation around that is full of suspense and this would be a great book to read as a standalone. 📖 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐢𝐟𝐞 📖 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This had everything that I was desperate for! Although I'm a big fan of the Will Trent series and of Will and Sara’s relationship, my heart will forever remain in Grant County. I always miss the feel of the town, the characters we’ve left behind there, and the nostalgia of where it all began. Which is why this was the perfect book for me. Told over two timelines – one in the present in Atlanta and one in the past in Grant County – The Silent Wife brings together all of these beloved characters for an utterly absorbing gritty crime that will leave you speechless. And that shock ending? I loved it! I’ve always had an instinct that something like this would come out, so it was satisfying to have this suspicion validified. 🖤🖤🖤 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝟭𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲.

I swear I have read this book before, because some part of the book were deja vu, but I’m not really sure if I did or not. Sometimes throughout the novel the relationship between Will and Sara irritated me because they have awful communication. But, overall this was an excellent novel that didn’t disappoint.

I’ve decided that #karinslaughter is for listening. This works for me. Typically, if I have a preference it’s to #read … but the last of hers I read fell flat for me somehow. #thekeptwoman however had me enthralled for the entire 16+ hours of #audiobook ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 - and a small comment to say that this is not a #willtrent book. It is a book about Angie Trent, his sometimes misunderstood and always interesting and controversial estranged wife … who holds her own mad moral code (barely) and will never be as dull as any law abiding citizen. She’s the character I wanted, she’s the one I empathized with (after she broke into her exes house and cloned his girlfriends laptop and had to read those simpering emails). Just finished this the other day. How I got so far behind on reading one of my favorite thriller authors I don’t know other than so many books, so little time. I got this one back in 2016 when Karin was on tour and met her at the Dallas Public Library. The Kept Woman was so good. I was hooked from the beginning. Perfect pacing, riveting plot, and edge-of-your-seat suspense. * I didn’t notice the dog in the background until after I took the picture. The Kept Woman (Will Trent # 8) By Karin Slaughter ⭐️: 4.5/5 Will has spent the last few months of his career trying to bring down famous basketball player Marcus Rippy for the violent rape of a woman, only for him to utilize his power and money to get away with it. When the body of an ex-cop is found in an abandoned construction site that is the site of Rippy’s new club, Will is brought into the investigation, but soon, evidence arises that ties the situation surrounding the murder back to events and people in Will’s troubled past. Can’t stop won’t stop reading Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent series! I’m really trying to finish all 10 that have been published before January 3 when the show adaptation premieres, but we’ll see if I can manage it. I only have two left, so maybe! I really liked this installment of the series, because once again, although the main mystery surrounds the crime that occurred, the story ties in with Will’s personal life and history, which I find much more interesting, especially now that it’s later in the series and I’m really invested in the lives of the cast of characters. So far, we’ve gotten book’s that dive a little deeper into Will’s, Amanda’s, and Faith’s histories, with Sara being a main character in a whole other series that I haven’t read yet but fully intend to, so I’m assuming her history resides there. This one took a bit of a deeper dive into Angie Polaski’s history, Will’s estranged wife and ex-cop we love to hate. Or just hate in general, who knows. This book was a wild ride that keeps you guessing all the way through. My favorite part is seeing Will’s evolution throughout the series, and I just love him more and more as it goes on.

The Kept Woman- Karin Slaughter Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Will has been called to the scene of a murder of an ex-cop. Due to the volume of blood, Sara realises there is another person involved. Will is then interested in the murder, as it occured at the club owned by legendary athelete Marcus Rippy, whom Will is attempting to convict of rape. When will learns that the other person he has unresolved business with is his ex-wife Angie, he becomes increasingly interested. This book had me completely engrossed; I couldn't put it down. This book had a lot of detail and became more engaging as the pages turned. Reading from Angies perspective was enjoyable because it made the storyline flow. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 Okay, my least favorite character from the Will Trent series is back - Angie Polaski. The longest chapter in this book (125 pages, I think?) is dedicated to her. As much as she's my least favorite, I understand her character better now. She is a result of what bad parenting is - so is Will. Their back story is heartbreaking and teeth-gnashing. It surely happens in reality - children are left in the care of institutions because of their parents' bad choices. I love Will Trent's development here. He has proven from the previous books how competent he is at his job despite having to live with dyslexia - something he tries so hard to hide from the world. As much as he is excellent at his job, he sucked at dealing with his personal life. But here, he finally decided to put himself first. Then there's Sara Linton. I don't know if I want to cheer her on for being so patient with Will, or if I want to drill some sense into her to put herself first. But that's what makes her so relatable. This book heavily tells about drug abuse, domestic abuse, rape, abuse of power, victim blaming, misogyny, toxic relationships, and generally the ugly side of life.
