5/5⭐️ Detektyvinė serija apie buvusį sukčių, o dabar advokatą Edi Fliną sugebėjo skaitytojus pavergti jau po pirmosios dalies. Tad nenuostabu, kad antroji knyga buvo labai laukiama. Ši dalis neneigsiu... Buvo kažkas tokio, kad skaitant jaučiausi lyg ant adatų, o posėdžių metu kiekvienas Flino argumentas prilygo lyg koviniam filmui ir iš to mometo ,,duok jam iš kairės iš dešinės, duok, kad mažą nepasirodytų". Atrodytų agresyviai? Bet šioje dalyje Edis toks ir turi būti, nes labiau sprendžiasi jo žmonos likimas. Kad Edis Flinas teismo salėje gali būti nuožmus tuo įsitikinome anksčiau, kad jam nėra lygių gatvėse, taip pat. Tačiau kai ant kortos kito brangaus žmogaus likimas privalo tapti žvėrimi. Kuom man ši serija išskirtinė, tai kad čia nėra tiek daug žiaurumo, bet dėmesį prikausto nuo pirmo iki paskutinio puslapio. Flino kaip pagrindinio veikėjo portretas taip sukurtas, kad nekyla minčių lyginti. Nenoriu išduoti šios knygos siužeto, nes jis žiauriai išskirtinis, bet jei esate visokių kriminalistinių filmų/serialų gerbėjai tai čia tikras desertas. Edis Flinas - apdairus, gudrus advokatas, kurio praeitis nėra visiškai švari; jis buvęs sukčius (kiek primena apsukrųjį advokatą Saul Godman). Kaip pirmoje dalyje, taip ir šioje, vėl iškyla grėsmė jo šeimai ir jis turi prasisukti sudėtingoje byloje, kad išsikapstytų iš esamos padėties. O jo klientas, turtingas vyrukas, nužudęs savo sužadėtinę. Visi įkalčiai rodo jo kaltę, tačiau Flinas jaučia, kad vyrukas nekaltas, taigi jis imasi rodos neįmanomo - išteisinti žmogų, kurio nusikaltimą įrodyti įkalčių daugiau nei pakankamai. Siužetas, istorinė linija, veikėjai. Viskas labai gerai suderinta, sustyguota ir pateikta labai įdomiai. O vyšnaitė ant torto - puikiai aprašyta advokatų ir teismo darbo metodika ir procedūros. O dar turime ir nusikaltimą, žmogžudystę, kuri yra nebloga mįslė. Bet... Vėlgi, Edis Flinas iškeliamas virš kitų kaip super protingas, kompetetingas, kuriam vienam tik ateina įvarios idėjos, kai kiti rodos pražiopso esminius dalykus. Pareigūnų darbas vėl buvo pavaizduotas labai neprofesionaliai ir aplaidžiai, tyrėjų specialistų taip pat. O šiaip puikus trileris. Įtemptas, įdomus, išlaikantis dėmesį ir įtampą iki pat pabaigos. Nepagaili ir netikėtų siužeto vingių link pabaigos, net kai atrodė, kad daug ką atspėjau. Na ir žinoma, pagrindinis veikėjas labai charizmatiškas, traukia dėmesį ir žavi. Na man ši antroji dalis patiko labiau nei pirmoji ir ši serija kaip šviežias oro gurkšnis tarp trilerių. Obviously that didn't happen, so here's my pumpkin pic review in a very cold and wintery mid November. I honestly can't fault any Steve Cavanagh book, I will read ANYTHING he publishes. With that said, I fully trusted Cavanagh would put his own twist on it as I've learnt over the course of his Eddie Flynn series and his last stand alone twisted, and I was right. I didn't see the twist coming and it completely knocked me off my feet and left me turning page after page to find out what was happening and who was involved. The alternating POV really added to the book as I was fully invested in each characters own story and couldn't read fast enough to find out how/if they interlinked with each other. This book was an easy five stars for me, and Steve Cavanagh continues to be an auto buy author who never fails.

Steve Cavanagh Book Dump!! The Plea - Just like in the the first book, I was more interested and excited in the courtroom scenes. I found that some of the main plot was getting to be a bit too much for me, and I was getting bogged down in the politics of everything. It was kind of fun as during testimony. I kept thinking about the objections or the questions that were trying to lead the witness somewhere, and it made me kind of smile. I really do like the main character and feel that I am going to continue reading this series for him but the story lines are not too interesting or engaging for me as they do have that strong political piece to it, which I am usually not a fan of. But the quart room scenes in the law aspect is what will make me keep reading. The Liar - Oh I think this is my favorite book out of the three I have read so far. It definitely wasn’t as political as the first two and the plot as super intriguing. I also had a legit ‘what the heck moment’ and was completely blindsided. And when revelation after revelation happened, pieces started connecting and it got more and more intriguing. I loved the courtroom scenes, as usual, but felt that the rest of the book was equally as interesting. Usually, I zone out of this subgenre of thrillers quite quickly, but The Plea had me hooked throughout. I already know Eddie Flynn quite well from some of the later books in the series. And while Fifty-Fifty and Thirteen centre around much darker crimes that are more my kind of thing (blood, serial killers, gore!), it is Flynn’s character that keeps you so engrossed in the investigation. Cavanagh writes the courtroom scenes so well, and I love the rat-pack gang Flynn has to support him. These bad men with good intentions are somehow incredibly lovable, and I’m always excited to see what Flynn will do next. This thriller kept me guessing throughout. There were so many components to the story that needed to come together for Flynn to come out on top, with more and more twists being thrown in along the way, so it certainly kept me on my toes! 📚 REVIEW 📚 If you know just one thing about me by now fellow bookstagrammers it's probably that I love the Eddie Flynn series from @sscav 'The Plea' is the second in the series of conman turned defence lawyer Flynn. Yes yes, I'm guilty of reading them in the wrong order because I was late to The Cav party and only started to see the evidence in question with 'Fifty Fifty'. This book starts with a bang with Eddie facing certain death and then rewinds the clock by 48hrs – giving us the back story leading to the near death situation he finds himself in during the opener. As usual Flynn seems to have taken on a case that he absolutely cannot win giving the damning evidence against his client. But if you know Eddie like I know Eddie... The case progresses, the prosecution is on for a certain win but then cracks begin to appear in the story and that's where Eddie steps in and does his stuff. All while dealing with personal issues and misadventures that seem to follow him around by the book. It's another cracking novel from Mr Cavanagh and is a definite 'one more chapter' read. The only slight niggle I have with this one is the ending felt a bit rushed. I recall getting to about page 320 and thinking 'how is this going to get tied up in 60 pages?' It does, but for me it didn't quite live up to the journey there. And don't get me started on the cover tagline... That said, I still loved this and am gearing up for books three and four to get me bang up to date with the Eddie Flynn books. I'm currently prepping myself for the new standalone this summer but my plea to @sscav is never give up Mr Flynn. Eddie Flynn Books 1-7 are all available now! Steve Cavanagh is one of my favourite authors and he never fails me…. Yet anyways 😂 There’s about 5 books in total on this little set but you dont have to read all of them to understand the standalone books. I had to DNF the first book ‘The Denfence’ due to a trigger. I then started this one straight away and couldnt put it down 😂 The story line is brilliant and is filled with lots and lots of twists and turns and surprises. Theres a couple beautiful surpises thrown especially PoPo’s surprise near the end of the book 🥰 It actually gave me goosebumps!!! Im about to start on his next book ‘The Liar’ which im beyond excited to read. The Plea- Steve Cavanagh This the second book in the Eddie Flynn series, so far I think this is going to be a great set of books to add to my collection. Eddie Flynn is an ex-con man turned lawyer, his seedy past gives him an interesting perspective on how he fights for his defendants. When Eddie is approached by the FBI to represent and convince young billionaire David Child to take a plea deal for the murder of his girlfriend, in exchange for the legal safety of his estranged wife. Eddie has no choice but to take the offer. As he begins working with David he begins to think the cut and dry case the police have put together is anything but. Do you have any go-to authors? 📚 I have a few authors whose work I’ll buy, no questions. Taylor Jenkins Reid, Reneé Carlino, Marissa Meyer, to name a few. Another is Steve Cavanagh. The Plea is the second in the popular series of Eddie Flynn stories, but the sixth of Cavanagh’s novels that I’ve read. And it easily becomes the third that I’ve rated 5⭐️. This book not only has a countdown element, but also is full of complex and intricate court scenes - two things that Cavanagh does really well. As soon as I started reading, I loved the volume of detail included in the story, as well as the *huge* amount of twists and turns! This book is heavy on detail and not exactly a bit of light reading. But - it packs a hell of a punch. ⏳THE ACCOMPLICE - STEVE CAVANAGH ⏳ I think at this point I would read anything @sscav writes. Neither the Eddie Flynn series or Twisted has fallen flat for me so I know when a new book comes out I will be hooked. The Accomplice is the 7th book in the Eddie Flynn series and this time Eddie and the gang find them selves defending Carrie Miller, wife of serial killer The Sandman. Does Carries suspicions make her an accomplice to the murders? Some of my favourite Eddie Flynn scenes are in the courtroom and this book was no different. I particularly liked learning a bit more about the different cross examination strategies, I wonder if Cavanagh learnt about those in his law studies? Overall The Accomplice was so cleverly written and fast paced I just flew through it. The latter books in the series have gotten so ‘twisty’ that I honestly can’t even guess where it’s going until it happens, but when it does everything makes sense.
