I won't miss it. Or the bills that go with it. Ha. Fine by me. Anyway, who wants to watch Poirot with me tonight? Such a great Agatha Christie Mystery dinner, at The Old Swan Hotel which is the last place she was when she went missing for about 10 or 11 days. Now, would love to do another mystery dinner! 🩵💚Review💚🩵⁣ ⁣ How entertaining was this?! I very much enjoyed reading this little collection of short stories by Agatha Christie. After the first couple, I really got into the swing of things and started appreciating Christie‘s storytelling and fabulous ability to come up with a thrilling and intriguing whodunnit. How do writers of crime stories do it? Does the plotting and method of different crimes just come to them? Is it research or pure imagination? Would they be a criminal in another life? Do they fantasise about committing crimes? It’s all quite fascinating to me. ⁣ ⁣ This volume consists of stories of Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot, Tommy and Tuppence, and some standalones. Helpfully, it includes a list of when and where each story was published and reprinted in both the UK and US. This is the kind of detail that I appreciate, as I like a bit of background information and context. So a big thank you to the publisher @harpercollinsuk for doing this. ⁣ ⁣ I have a weakness for seasonal reading, and if a publication is marketed as such, it will probably catch my eye. However, having now read this book, I can tell you it isn’t particularly spring-y - although I found myself not minding at all. I don’t have the next volume, Midsummer Mysteries (I’m sure it’ll come up on kindle deal as we get nearer to the season), but I have the beautiful hardback of Autumn Chills, giving to me by my wonderful friend Katy @countbossula 😍 I will be reading this when the leaves are bronze and golden, hopefully with a pumpkin spiced latte or an Autumn Slumber hot toddy.⁣ ⁣ Recommended. A delightful, quick read.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #Bookstagram#Bookstagrammer#BookWorm#BookLover#BookBlogger#ILoveBooks #BooksAndFlowers #ALittleBrightCornerReview #ALittleBrightCornerReviews #ALittleBrightCornerBookReview #ALittleBrightCornerBookReviews #ALittleBrightCornerBooks #SinisterSpring #AgathaChristie #ShortStories #CrimeFiction #CrimeStories #AgathaChristieShotStories #AgathaChristieMystery #AgathaChristieBooks #ShortStories #TheQueenOfCrime #MurderAndMystery #MissMarple #HerculePoirot #TommyAndTuppence

🚂💙💎 ❤︎AUDIOBook 🎧 Review❤︎ This year I joined the #READCHRISTIE2024 read-along with @OfficialAgathaChristie and it’s been lots of fun. Every month is a different suggested mystery to read and we are going in order of decade from the 1920s to 1970s. Wrapping up the 1920s this month was Mystery of the Blue Train. I loved the French Riviera setting (anywhere in France works for me!) and the story involved a cursed jewel— The Heart of Fire (who doesn’t love haunted jewelry?) and, of course, there was a train! This time a night train from London to France, and a lot can happen on a train as we all know from many of Christie’s mysteries. I was also happy to see my old favorite detective, Hercule Poirot, there to solve the murder whodunit because we all know there’s going to be a murder. Again, Agatha threw out about 20+ characters to keep track of, but I’m used to it by now. I just go to wikipedia and print out a character list and refer to it throughout my reading/listening. Tricky part is, by the time I know who is who, the mystery is usually solved. ☞ How do you handle books with tons of characters to keep track of? Lists? Instant DNF? ✒︎ Often I make a list until I get the swing of who is who. #ScaryJewelry #TroubleOnTheNightTrain #ILoveFrance #IDidntSeeThatComing #AgathaChristieMystery #ClassicMystery #AgathaChristie #suspense #thriller #iloveagoodmystery #bookstagram #girlswhoread #bookphotography #californiabooknerd #audiobookreview

Here’s a post on the Agatha Christie mystery.TW: Mentions of suicide. 🐟❤️ December 3rd 1926, author Agatha Christie kissed her daughter goodnight, got into her car... and disappeared. Her car was found a few miles away, abandoned near a quarry, and so began an 11-day manhunt, involving the police, psychics and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Agatha was eventually found staying at a spa hotel in Harrogate, Yorkshire. There were several theories as to what had happened. Including: an attempt to scare or teach her husband a lesson, a publicity stunt to promote her books, head trauma from a car accident or a fugue state - which we’ll focus on here. A fugue state is a rare example of dissociative amnesia characterised by: emotional numbness, a new identity, travel/wandering without purpose, confusion, forgetting autobiographical information which is all induced by stress and intense emotion. Agatha was in an overwhelmed, depressed “miserable” period of her life. Her mum, who she was close with, had recently died, her workload was high and her husband had met someone new and wanted a divorce (they’d argued that evening). At the time, Agatha: didn’t recognise her name or face in the papers, had adopted a different name (with the surname of her husband’s new partner) and she saw amnesia doctors in London, eventually regaining her memory and identity. Agatha also reported: exhaustion, withdrawal, muscular pain, inability to focus, insomnia, helplessness, loss of appetite and suicidal thoughts. The language surrounding these collective experiences in the 1920s was imprecise, making it harder to form a concrete diagnostic decision. #AgathaChristie #AgathaChristieFugue #AgathaChristieMystery #Dissociation #Depression #MentalHealth #DissociativeFugue #NeuroDivers #SciComm #ScienceCommunication #NeurodivergentCommunity

Agatha Christie Scavenger Hunt @officialagathachristie has created a scavenger hunt so of course I had to join in! I took a while thinking about my choices but that's because you can't go wrong with whichever Agatha Christie book you pick! If you love Agatha Christie and scavenger hunts you should definitely join in! Here is what you need to find 🔎and what I found: ❤️ Your favorite Agatha Christie- SAD CYPRESS. This has a very memorable and interesting protagonist and what seems like an impossible case to solve. 😮 A Christie that surprised you- I've been surprised many times but in DEATH ON THE NILE I was completely shocked especially because I had declared the guilty innocent. 💙 Your favorite cover- This one was hard! I chose REMEMBERED DEATH, or, as I think of it by the alternate title, SPARKLING CYANIDE. The cover is pretty different from others I have. 1️⃣ Your first Agatha Christie- Ignore the movie cover 🙈. I had already had a few Christies in my collection but I bought AND THEN THERE WERE NONE because I wanted to read it first, which I did in one day. 👍 One you are always recommending- CROOKED HOUSE. This one is a little creepy and has a memorable scene when Poirot realizes he knows who the killer is. I was proud of myself for guessing right. I also read this in one day. 📚 Your current Agatha Christie or one you're reading next- A MURDER IS ANNOUNCED. I've wanted to read this for a long time. What am I waiting for? Now for a very important question. Have you read Agatha Christie yet? If not, any of these are great choices. Be warned though. Once you start you will be adding more to your TBR! 😆 If not Agatha Christie, what is your current read? I'm doing the unthinkable and reading three books at once. One is Darling Girls and I think it will be taking over the other two.

Brilliant 80s film suggestions, yesterday. THANK YOU. For my film newsletter(s). An 80s Double Bill. Link in Bio. Betrayal (1983), Mona Lisa (1986), A Month in the Country (1987), A Letter to Brezhnev (1985) and, of course, My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) all worthy contenders. I’m also adding Ken Russell’s The Lair of the White Worm (1988) and Gothic (1986)- two personal favourites, especially Lair. Polanski’s Tess is superb (especially the location work, but more of that in a later Weekend Flicks’ newsletter), but it dates from 1979. I had also completely forgotten about Betrayal (1983), for some reason confusing it with Damage (1993). And a genius mentioned ‘Evil Under the Sun’ (1982), which may well be the best of the Agatha Christie film crop- it’s certainly my favourite, which must also include Murder on the Orient Express (1974)- NOT the misguided remake- and Death on the Nile (1978). Despite the gloss, I still find those mysterious flashbacks (very Christie, that, hidden pasts and all that) genuinely disturbing- the Lindbergh kidnapping set to eerie music, the desperate girl running across the Yorkshire moors in seach of help. But then Agatha Christie was a bloody good writer. A mistress of chiselled, economical prose. My late mother-in-law once attended a dinner party with Agatha Christie and her husband, the archaeologist, Sir Max Mallowan, to whom she took an instant shine. ‘Dreary little woman’, she said, ‘Didn’t say anything’. Which sort of misses the point. No doubt my late mother-in-law appears as a character in one of Agatha’s books. And I’ve no time for high-fallutin’ critics who turn up their noses at genre writers. John Buchan is dismissed as ‘middle brow’, James Herbert as beyond the pale, Dennis Wheatley as ‘turgid’. James Herbert’s a case in point. Read ‘The Rats’- set in the grime and squalor of London’s East End- and it will stay with you forever. Which is more than can be said for the vast literary output. My prep school banned Herbert- along with Sven Hassel- which adds to the frisson. #AgathaChristie #evilunderthesun #agathachristiemystery #queenofcrime #murdermystery #CrimeFiction #herculepoirot #AgathaChristieFan

🌜🔪🌛 ❤︎AUDIOBook 🎧 Review❤︎ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5 I’ve been in a nasty insta-hell since the beginning of the year, unable to like/comment/post and I’m still restricted now so I have no idea if this post will show up or how it will look if it does, but here goes! I see a lot of others are in the same boat and, believe me, I sympathize. I started the New Year with a really fun Agatha Christie mystery and this one may be my favorite one yet! This story grabbed me from the very beginning and surprisingly didn’t throw out a dozen or more characters all at once in the first chapter as often happens in a Christie mystery. I quite enjoyed getting to know each character and made note of suspicious little happenings that popped-up here and there. The plot was wildly complicated, as usual, but I eagerly followed along trying to work out what all the mysterious going-ons meant and I am thrilled to say I didn’t guess the ending. The whole story had a dark and creepy vibe which helped keep me on the edge of my seat the whole way. Such a fun mystery! Thank you @nlcordle.reads for starting off the new year with our first of many Christie reads for 2024! ☞ Did you stay awake until midnight on New Year’s Eve or were you happily asleep? ✒︎ I am a night owl so midnight is not a problem for me and I was awake! #IDidntSeeThatComing #AgathaChristieMystery #ClassicMystery #AgathaChristie #suspense #thriller #iloveagoodmystery #bookstagram #girlswhoread #bookphotography #californiabooknerd #audiobookreview

#explorewithayureviews Book 1 of Year 2024 🌻 Finished reading the first book of 2024, nothing from the decided TBR. It's a random pick from my bookshelf, and here is what I felt about it. This captivating tale unfolds in a seaside resort, weaving intricate descriptions of its surroundings and colorful characters. : : : Beginning with the murder of an infamous actress, it evolves into a classic Hercule Poirot investigation, where interviews with the resort's guests and employees provide subtle clues about potential suspects : : : Despite the familiarity of Agatha Christie's storytelling style, the unexpected twist in identifying the culprit adds a refreshing layer to the narrative. Towards the end, I felt that the author is trying to make the situation too complex with many characters and alibi so that one can't find who the actual murderer is which eventually felt like an unessential attempt. 🕵🏼‍♂️🗡️🔎 : : : Nonetheless, it remains an engaging read, perfect for a one-time dive into mystery. Overall, it was a satisfying start to the year 2024, offering an enjoyable experience despite its familiar elements. 📚 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5 : : : #qotd : Tell me your favourite Agatha Christie read ?

Salvador would be proud. Like the revolutions of 1848, this batch of scrolls rose up, only to collapse into a Daliesque mess. Brutti ma buoni, they went straight to the Crieff Connections food bank as Christmas treats. Sometimes this sort of thing happens and you haven’t a clue why. Agatha Christie lives on. Dali, failed revolutions, Agatha Christie, cinnamon scrolls (naturally leaves of course), all in one paragraph. This is what happens when you have insomnia before Christmas #salvadordali #revolutionsof1848 #agathachristiemystery #insomnia

📚Rezension | 👵🏼 ✍🏼👴🏼 Beeindruckend: Die Queen of Crime . 🪞🔪🪩 ❤︎AUDIOBook 🎧 Review❤︎ ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5 Making our way through the Miss Marple series, my buddy-read partner @nlcordle.reads and I snuck this one in just in time to include in our November reads. It’s #6 in the series and fell a bit short for me. As usual, the story starts with a startling amount of characters and this time Miss Marple was introduced early on and had a larger part in the story than she usually does, which I liked. The mystery was a little confusing and the dialogue was missing the usual fun and amusing banter I love in a Christie mystery. Nonetheless we had a good time reading it and looking forward to the next one! ☞ Do you have any Christmas or Wintery books that you love? 🧙🏻‍♀️ 🧙🏻‍♀️ 🧙🏻‍♀️ ❤︎AUDIOBook 🎧 Review❤︎ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5 A murdered priest, some dabbling in the occult, a small English village called Much Deeping, and a mysterious pub called the Pale Horse where you’ll find three women who practice witchcraft? SIGN ME UP! I really loved this Christie mystery which was written in her later years and had more of an early 1960s setting with espresso bars and some pop culture of the time. I adored the witchy vibe and was thrilled I didn’t guess who did it. It also had a charming ending that I didn’t expect that made it that much better. My partner in crime solving @nlcordle.reads and I stepped away from our Miss Marple series to take this one on as a buddy-read since there is a series on Amazon based on this novel and we thought we’d do the right “bookish” thing and read the book first! Happy Birthday to the Queen of mysteries! 🎂 📚 Today is Agatha Christie's birthday! Her wonderful books are a gift to us all. The first Agatha Christie I read was And Then There Were None. The first book where I correctly guessed the killer was The Crooked House. Most of my collection has been from finds at the used bookstore although lately I haven't found any. I think it's because everyone wants her books! Some of my favorites are Sad Cypress, The Crooked House, And Then There Were None, and Why Didn't They Ask Evans? I think Miss Marple is my favorite but most of my favorite books are ones featuring Poirot. 🤷‍♀️ Something I've been thinking about is I would LOVE if there were Agatha Christie Funko Pops. There could be Poirot, Miss Marple, Christie herself... So many possibilities! Q. What characters/authors would you like to see as Funko Pops or some kind of figure? A. Besides Agatha Christie I would love to see some Jane Austen characters. There is one of Jane Austen herself but I need Mr. Darcy!

"I yearned for adventure, for love, for romance, and I seemed condemned to an existence of drab utility." ~Agatha Christie's 'The Man In The Brown Suit' Genres - Crime, Mystery, Adventures, Romance So, Hey I'm here with another review. FYI Hercule Poirot has no role in this story.Let's begin.... 'The Man in the Brown Suit' by Agatha Christie is a thrilling mystery book set in the 1920s London and South Africa, that will take you on a thrilling journey from beginning to end. It is a rollercoaster ride filled with romance, adventure, mystery, female wanderlust desires. This is a glorious adventure of an independent, wonderful, spirited Woman, Anne Beddingfeld (amateur sleuth), who gets herself entangled in a mysterious incident, when her gaze landed on a mysterious man's death at London tube station. She witnesses a man in a brown suit who has been searching something in the death man's pocket and after getting that things, he vanishes into air (not with magic, like ran away). When she goes nearer to the victim she smell and found something that will lead her to the depth into the mystery. From there her adventures will begin. Now, Who was the man in the brown suit? Who was the victim? What was the smell? What was the man in brown suit looking for? What did Anne Beddingfeld find that would get her involved? You will get a little enemy to lovers feeling, soft romance love triangle and many mores. Also a woman point of view on things. To summarise my thoughts, it's a fine book that will solve the puzzles sensibly. The characters development, the friendship between the characters, the journey, the romance all are charismatic. 'The man in the brown suit' is a great read that will not disappoint avid readers. #qotd - Which place would you like to visit once in your life? - I would love to visit Paris. I’m a day late for #caturday. What day is it again? 🤣 This is from the archives. I enjoy historical fiction and it’s fun when it involves a real historical figure. Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie 🛥️ I fell in love with Agatha Christie while reading this novel and then immediately went and purchased a couple more of her books. This novel follows Hercule Poirot on what was supposed to be time off for him and turns into something much more deadly. Christie takes you on an adventure of dancing, honeymoons, and family secrets. Once you pick this book up, it’ll be very hard to put down. I am of the belief that the Hercule Poirot mysteries do not need to be read in order but it is recommended. Because I had seen the movie Murder on the Orient Express, I was immediately convinced I need to read her books first especially if more films were going to be made about them. This book is different than the movie in a few major ways. But I enjoyed both the novel and the film for different reasons. 4/5 ⭐️

Agatha Christie Scavenger Hunt What's better than a scavenger hunt? An Agatha Christie scavenger hunt! This is a new challenge created by @booksandmoomins and check out @ilikeoldbooks1213 post too where I first saw #thechristiescavengerhunt It's perfect for mystery lovers. And if you have a lot of Agatha Christie books like I do than it should be easy, right? Wrong. This was hard. If the challenge was only to find a gun on the cover then I wouldn't have been able to fit all the books in one photo. Another thing I found on a lot of covers is jewels. That was interesting. See the gun AND jewels on the top left. Here are the prompts and the books I found. I almost couldn't do this challenge which tells me I need more Agatha Christie books! "It was a woman. Only a woman would stab like that." "Woman are like that. When they are enraged they have great strength." ~Agatha Christie I snorted when I read this 😂 This gentleman was being very personal when he gave his opinion. At least he was close to the truth... I thoroughly enjoyed this reread. It was admirable how an excellent job Agatha Christie does when describing characters. I've never gotten to know so many characters deeply, especially within 300 pages. Also, I learned a new metaphor, "Ugly as sin." Imma use that from now on 🤭 I give this book a solid 5/5 ⭐ This is one of my favorite ones so far 😌 Have you read this book? Comment down below to share your opinions! 🕵️

Peril At End House 🎆🌙🏡🕵🏻‍♂️🍾🥂💉⏱️🍫 “You have a tendency, Hastings, to prefer the least likely. That, no doubt, is from reading too many detective stories.” — Agatha Christie I have not read an Agatha Christie novel in several years, so diving back into the Poirot series was so much fun. I loved how Captain Hasting was the narrator once again, and It felt like reading about old friends. Poirot and Hasting’s banter is so funny and their little friendship is so great! It might just be me, but I can never guess who done it. I have read 12 Christie novels and there are always some unique and unexpected plot twist! And without fail I’m always shocked at the end reveal! I really love how, like with any Christie novel, you feel like you are transported into that time and emersed into the lives and luxury of the rich white folk in Europe in the early 1900s. A downside of this is that her books lack diversity and, as expected, there is some questionable language, slurs, and just outdated terms and language used. Overall, I don’t have too many feelings about this one. Peril at End House is really just a fun little 200 page murder mystery. I liked it, but it’s probably not the most memorable one for me. Originally published in October 1920, ‘The Mysterious Affair at Styles’ is a detective novel by Agatha Christie, an English writer known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, particularly those revolving around fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Invalided home from the Western Front, Arthur Hastings arrives at Styles Court expecting a relaxing sojourn in the English countryside. It turns out to be anything but. Late one night, Hastings is summoned to the locked bedroom door of Emily Inglethorp, mistress of the manor. A terrible commotion is happening inside, and by the time her family forces the door open it is too late—Emily is in the final, violent throes of strychnine poisoning and nothing can save her. As fate would have it, Belgium’s most renowned detective, a refugee from the war, resides in the neighboring village. Hercule Poirot may look, in the words of Hastings, like a “quaint dandified little man,” but he possesses one of the finest minds in Europe and an impressive flair for solving the most baffling of cases. Half a dozen people—including Alfred, Emily’s much younger second husband; her slacker stepsons, John and Lawrence; and Mary, her beautiful but bored daughter-in-law—had the means and the motive to poison Emily. While Hastings and the rest of Styles Court rush to judgment, Poirot painstakingly sifts through the clues and considers each of the suspects in turn. The answer at which he arrives will shock them all. #themysteriousaffairatstyles #mysteriousaffairatstyles #themysteriousaffairatstylesbook #agathachristie #agathachristiebooks #agathachristiemystery

🍪 BOOK REVIEW 🍪 Goodreads : 4.0 ⭐ Me 4.5 ⭐ I finished this book last December so it's a very late review 😁 The story follows a rich old man inviting his family to Christmas dinner, however things don't turn out as planned. Yup, he was murdered. I already worshipped this book before I had read a word, because the cover is SO gorgeous 😭✨ picture does injustice to what it actually looks like. Again, I couldnot pinpoint the murderer 😐 He/She was not even in my list of suspects 💀🥴 Lesson learned: Never exclude anyone from suspects, even a feral cat 🐈 I have a long list of Agatha Christie books I haven't read yet. It's such a joyous feeling that there are more of her amazing works out there and it's not an end yet. I am afraid of reading up all her works 😔 Thank you everyone, I hope you enjoyed my review!

A reading during the 1.5 hour flight. Quite entertaining to read a story from a very best friend of Hercule Poirot. Although I have a long way to go with the story, but I felt the acrophobia decreased and enjoyed the flight with small turbulence. Although the reading is not related to this month reading prompt, but I am gonna spend Balinese Silence Day week with the famous Belgian detective looking for a mysterious murderer who addicted with the ABC.

I finally tempted to do #readchristie2023 by reading Murder in Mesopotamia as an alternative story from February prompt reading. In this rainy Sunday, I think it's a great time to chill and do nothing. Well, in my case, is chill and do reading the whole day. 😄 And I chose Agatha Christie's mystery book to brighten up the gloomy day. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my second read by Agatha Christie. I enjoyed it. It was an engaging mystery, however it did suffer a little from its own fame. Being such a well known story, I already knew the ending before I’d picked up the book, which is more damaging for a mystery than for any other genre, but I endeavoured not to hold it against it. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I did my first Christie read, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, as I found that mystery to be a little more engaging. So if you’re looking to dip your toe in the waters, my recommendation would be to start there. Thinking I will continue to And Then There Were None for my next Christie mystery, as I’ve heard it’s one of her best. I’m enjoying these reads. I’ve always been a big fan of mystery and trying to guess along to unravel the mystery before it is revealed, so I’ll definitely be digger deeper into this genre later this year. But now it’s time for more fantasy 🐉⚔️ Do you ever branch out to experience new genres?

Friday, 01-27-2023 Had fun with child, ushering at OMP, and watching their Season Opener - the Agatha Christie Mystery “VERDICT” directed by @aliza.bardfield… Was happy to meet a bunch of theatre friends (both onstage and off). If you are in the area - do check out the show (tonight and tomorrow afternoon). @mjosephgolden was fantastic bringing in a lot of depth to his character as ‘Karl Hendryk’. While matching up to his levels was Sarah Pinter as ‘Lisa Koletzky’. The highs and lows displayed by the duo were superb. Skylar Gunning did a great job holding up the angst as ‘Mrs. Anya Hendryk’. And of course @gaeinhorn as ‘Dr. Stoner’ was as marvelous as we have come to expect him to be onstage. As for @samsperaw, her portrayal of ‘Helen Rollander’ was indeed filled with the right amount of pride and disdain. Now, @beachmama201 played her part of the nosy maid ‘Mrs. Roper’ perfectly. Finally, Ricardo Graham (as both the student ‘Lester Cole’ and ‘Sergeant Pearce’), Joel Persing (as ‘Inspector Ogden’), and Murray Weed (as ‘Sir William Rollander’) rounded out the cast neatly. #fridaynightatthetheatre #agathachristiemystery #localtalent #communitytheatre #ushering

This is close to the scene where Agatha Christie suddenly disappeared! ⁣ ⁣ And this particular mystery remains unsolved to this day! ⁣🤔 ⁣ In 1926 at the height of her success, Agatha left her Berkshire home, after kissing her daughter goodnight, and drove to Silent Pool, a beauty spot, here in the Surrey Hills…. ⁣ Her car was found abandoned with her fur coat and driving license left inside. … ⁣ Her disappearance sparked a massive manhunt with The Home Secretary and thousands of police involved. Aeroplanes were also used, for the first time in a search operation, to try and find her. Two of Britains most famous crime writers, Sherlock Holmes author, Arthur Conan Doyle and Dorothy L Sayers were also brought in to help with the search 🕵️‍♀️ ⁣ Everyone had their own theories, some thought she had drowned herself, others thought she had been murdered by her husband, who was having an affair at the time Another theory was that she planned the whole thing to thwart her husband’s plans to spend a weekend with his mistress at a house close to where she abandoned the car. Others claimed it was a publicity stunt to promote her new book which had just been launched ⁣ She was finally found 11 days later, at a hotel in Harrogate, after a member of staff recognised her. She had apparently checked in under the name of her husband’s mistress! ⁣ ⁣ Agatha herself was unable to provide any clues as to what happened, as she said she had suffered total memory loss ⁣ There has been much speculation over the years as to what may have happened, but one thing is for sure, we will never know. Even Hercule Poirot himself would not be able to solve this one! ⁣ In fact it is possibly one of the greatest mysteries Agatha has left us! Linda x

Good Morning Everyone!!💕 It's #teatuesday ☕ and I realized that I've yet to post about my first book of 2023! Peril At End House, by Agatha Christie 🔎 I thought it best to kick the year off with my favourite genre - in the hope that it puts me on the right foot to meet my goals🥰 My reading goal this year is the same as last year - 12 books, one per month. Not much compared to the colossal number I know some of you read 😂 but I'm looking forward to it and hoping to surpass my goal this year! ❓QUESTION OF THE DAY❓ #qotd how has your January been so far? - - --------------- #readergram #bookishcommunity #bookishcanadians #bookrecommendations #bookrec #bookstagrammers #bookbloggers #bookbloggersofinstagram #authorcommunity #readingcommunity #readingcorner #indieauthorsofig #indieauthorsofinstagram #writingcommunity #readingaddict #bookgram #readerforlife #questionoftheday #2023reads #2023readingchallenge #agathachristiebooks #agathachristiemystery #agathachristie #amreadingmystery

I know I say this a lot about Agatha Christie but this honestly bears repeating: woman's a literal queen. The story was so good I've no words and for the first time in my life I was able to follow along with my own detective skill set (polished by previous Christie stories no doubt) and identified the murderer before Poirot revealed it. My only complaint with the story is that there were too many characters which made it a little difficult for me to keep track. The story follows the brutal murder of an extremely rich American heiress and the theft of her precious Ruby jewels, including a set which was allegedly worn by Catherine The Great herself. And it's the brutality of the murder which raises a lot of important questions given that the prime suspect is her estranged husband and English lord. If you can get past the three red herring and figure out the murderer before the final three or four chapters, let me know ✌🏾 I will definitely suggest this gripping murder mystery to everyone.

Reading, on a blue train, " The Mystery of The Blue Train " by Agatha Christie. Inception moment 💯. And we have a cameo by my rather enigmatic feet :D I'm in the eleventh chapter and honestly nothing is really interesting until Poirot makes his first appearance; and now I just need a few special phrases to know that he is here for example, a special reference to eggs, or "rather foreign looking man", or "eyes twinkling with delight". Christie's words and Poirot are imprinted on my mind. There is something distinctly different between Poirot and Holmes. The former is actually well respected and welcomed by the police force (might be his tenure in the army or his french profusions of sympathy and respect). Oh btw, a murder is afoot. QOTD : Poirot or Holmes? Although they're from different timelines, I really want to read a mashup of the two 🤭🤭 wonder if we can get Moriarty in the mix 🤔 Intriguing, right? #agathachristie #herculepoirot #poirot #murdermystery #agathachristiebooks #agathachristiespoirot #agathachristiefan #agathachristiebookclub #agathachristiecollection #agathachristiemystery #poirotseries #herculepoirotmystery #murdermysterybooks #themysteryofthebluetrain #booksimreading #currentlyreading #readersofinstagram #readmorewomen #readingtime📖
