Seeing people grow and improve is the most rewarding part of being a personal trainer. We started working on Brianna's strength and weight gain back in January. 30 sessions later she was surprised how light the weights we used at the start felt during a warm-up. 🏋🏽‍♀️UPPER BODY WORKOUT 🏋🏽‍♀️ just a quick upper body workout . I’m still not able to really lift too much, so I do have to do a lot of substitutions and just changing my workouts quite a bit from what I’m used to. For instance, I can’t do any wide grip pulldown nor can I do any shoulder presses, etc. etc.. I do what I can do and stop when it hurts and change the exercise up. There is basically nothing left of my shoulder so I have to take care of them as much as I can! Plus with perimenopause, the energy is a struggle on most days, so if I need a break from the gym, I take a break from the gym and do something different. I have now learned that it is OK to take a break. I do feel that I have lost a lot of muscle so when I look at myself in the mirror, I do see a difference which obviously plays with your mind . But I know deep down at least I’m coming in to the gym, which is keeping my mind healthy as well as my body. I don’t push myself the way I used to, I take two days off that week, at least from weights which I would never do. I do some sort of cardio every day which is usually just walking on the treadmill which should do some sort of cardiovascular activity is walking outdoors or indoors and I try to get at least 10,000 steps a day (which normally I get anywhere from 18,000 to 24,000 steps a day, just because I do work on my feet and go to the gym daily) Active has always been part of my lifestyle ever since I was a kid playing high school sports so that is not something. Jess had trained with coaches in the past. She had been on plans where she was training 4-5 times a week, doing cardio every single day, but had never reached a point where she was totally happy. She knew she could push herself more with some extra accountability & education to help her get to where she wants to be. Her initial goals were to see more stomach definition, more shape in her bum, and lose some body fat in the process. Previously she took this too far, put herself in an extreme calorie deficit and ended up losing her cycle for 9 months. She felt stuck. She hated training legs. She works long hours in a high-pressured job. Figuring out exactly what balance looked like to Jess, we decided on cutting down her training in the gym to allow for more rest and recovery. 

We took out her cardio entirely for now and have focused on keeping up her daily steps. We have implemented nutritional goals that are achievable for her.

And did I mention, Jess lives in Dubai?

Socials are part of her weekly life, eating out, going for meals and ordering food in. This is something she didn’t want to sacrifice. Glutes & Hamstrings 🍑 My favourite way to approach training is nailing every exercise with perfect technique and slow tempo. Leave your ego at the door and focus on the mind to muscle connection rather than just heavily loading the movement. It does not matter how heavy you can lift if your technique is not on point. Ego lifting, swinging the weight, and just going through the motions without thought put into it will not get you the results you want and can lead to injury as well. let’s be HONEST and just write it down as it was. For those who have been here for a while, you know it was the LAST week before competition. It’s been an EMOTIONAL ROLLECOASTER, sadly said but it was. I am such an emotional person and I carry so much on my chest, I just can not do different. If there’s something happening, it affects me from the top of my head to my toes, LITERALLY✨ I was not really feeling exhausted or triggered by the physical part of the prep, I have always made it work and I made it work for myself. I made sure I sleep properly, I am saving my energy and it helped me to just keep on going. and going. and going. When it comes to my head, it’s been a tricky one for sure. My past version of myself would easily let my emotions and feelings control my focus and my goals, but not anymore. And that’s the aspect we athletes (and people in general) have to learn. Once you master and take control of your mind, you win. There’s nothing that would take you off your path. NOTHING. NO ONE. And I think if I learnt anything properly in past months, it’s being in control of my life, consistently chosing myself and my goals, over and over again, letting go of what does not needed to be helt on (what was stressing me, what was too heavy, too annoying). mindset is so important. how you think and what you think. who you look up to. who you surround yourself with. Spend the day with me 💗 1. A nice mobilty workout this morning 2. Breakfast is the same every day.. because im a simple creature 3. The protein shake of the day because i forgot to take mine with me this morning - if you've seen my story, you'll understand the pain 🥲🤣 4. lunch was BEAUTIFUL. Lemon quinoa and chicken with a katsu sauce, which was gross, so i left it... 5. @kureiji_brand new nogi kit arrived, and can i just say - obsessed is an understatement. Please check these guys out 💗 6. Waitrose failed me and didn't have any chocomel so i opted for a banana and fudge milkshake instead, which was questionable. 4/10. 7. Last few preparation days at jits before the completion on Saturday @wiltshire_championship_bjj 8. Dinner was LOVELY. Steak, eggs, i had a huge craving for mozzarella, so I had plain and pesto balls.. I also worked and had my nails done, but i didn't think it was going to be of any excitement to you. What does an “average man” look like in your eyes? Lets be real, no amounts of training, weight lifting or exercise can make a women look like a man! SIMPLY IMPOSSIBLE. The ONLY type of tone is muscular tone. Women see pictures of female bodybuilders and think if they pick up a weight, they will end up looking like a female bodybuilder... This couldn’t be further from the truth. No women can accidentally get jacked or look like a man. Female bodybuilders dedicate their life to optimising everything they can to their physique, not to mention the additional substances they’re likely taking.💉💊. Women just don’t have the natural testosterone to look like a man, this is what separates the Male and Female physiology. Most women would like to “tone up”, the only type of tone is muscular tone. Muscular tone is achieved by one of two ways, reducing overall body fat percentage to expose the muscle below or building muscle. This is why the best way to “tone” is to lift weights.
