The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White “I sought to puncture Heaven and instead discovered Hell.” I loved this beautifully told retelling of Frankenstein! It was dark, delicious and terrifying, especially through the eyes of Elizabeth. Her perspective shows very clearly that women were considered pretty much useless in 18th century Europe, which makes the whole story even more dreadful. The concept of watching the dysfunctional Frankenstein family as young Victor grows up, through Elizabeth's mind, made the story an intriguing read. I loved the autho`s intense characterization of each individual. This is one of the best retellings I've read in a long time. Cóż mogę powiedzieć 😏 Lynn Painter- Przypadkowo Amy, podobało mi się zdecydowanie najmniej z mojego małego maratonu tej autorki 🫣 Było zwykłe, ale fajne. Izzy spóźniona na rozmowę o pracę czeka na swoją kawę której nie ma i nie ma. Więc, kiedy Barista podaje imię Amy razem z kawą dokładnie taką jaką zamówiła Izzy, nasza główna bohaterka mało myśląc podaje się za nieznaną dziewczynę i odbiera kawę. Nie nacieszyła się nią jednak zbyt długo, kawa ta podczas drogi ląduje na Blake'u, z którym od razu połączyła Amy chemia. Kto by pomyślał, że Blake to jej nowy pracodawca? 🤣 Książka była bardzo śmieszna, nasza Amy jak każda inna główna bohaterka książki Lynn Painter nie pozwalała na brak śmiechu, a co więcej? Była chyba najzabawniejsza ze wszystkich 😍 Uwielbiam jak Blake i Amy udawali, że Amy to nie jego pracownica, a TYLKO dziewczyna poznana przez kawę. Ogólnie książka nie była wybitna. 📖 Concealed Affections 🖋️ Jaya Sri Naga Jyothi For how long are you ready to wait for love? Meera wanted nothing more than to meet her childhood crush Harsha for once more in her life. She didn't realise it sooner when her crush turned into love and this made her wait for him even when she was far away from him. When she rejected a proposal by her classmate, she realises she was just like him, with her own one-sided romance. She takes a decision to stop thinking about her past and move on. That is precisely the moment when her Dad announces the arrival of Harsha, the man in her mind! With a simple plot of two one-sided lovers meeting years later, the story was engaging. It was interesting to see how both of these main characters saw each other and decided to wait for the other one to confess their love first. Harsha was determined to make Meera confess but was jealous of her interaction with her best friend, Vicky. As for Meera, she has no idea how Harsha sees her and decides to wait it out. As for the characters, I was unable to like Harsha for the most part of the book because of his attitude. He was extremely possessive and never liked it when anyone contradicted with him. That said, I liked the character development that happened in the end. As for Meera, her portrayal was able to capture the way a woman who is unable to confess her love behaves. The supporting characters in the story were given sufficient space in the story and their stories were discussed through the sub-plots. While reading this book, I wished that it had fewer pages. As I mentioned, the story was a simple one but the page count was near to six-hundred which I wasn't a big fan of. Book Review! ❄️🔪 💭 What’s your go-to comfort food? I’ve never read a book like this before! It was a cold case mystery that managed to get super intense while also being funny?? The humour was such a nice touch to the story and I loved it. There were so many different components that made this book interesting - a couple of romances, some murders, and a horde of cute animals. I’m not always a fan of romance in this genre, but I liked how the author incorporated it. Doris was by far my favourite character. She was hilarious and such a badass. But I honestly loved all of the characters. They all had their own unique personalities. The only thing I didn’t love was how many characters there were and the length of the book. There were a lot of people to keep track of and sometimes I flat out forgot who someone was. 😂 I also felt the story could’ve been a bit shorter. Book Review! 💊🔪 💭 Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Happy Valentine’s Day/Friendship Day/Love Day/Wednesday! In honour of this romantic holiday, I decided to post my review for an ominous and very non-romantic book. 😂 This was difficult for me to rate. I found the first half to be a bit slow moving, but things began to pick up in the second half. There was also a pretty cool twist near the end, and I always love when something happens that I didn’t see coming! I think my main issue with this book was the writing style. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it felt a bit choppy and was hard to get through sometimes. I also felt that it was hard to connect with the characters. They seemed a bit two-dimensional to me. I think this could go either way for people, so if you’re in the mood for a thriller with a medical and a psychological component, make sure to check it out! Chciałam żeby to było dobre. Bardzo chciałam. Seria Smakowicie Mroczne Baśnie od K.F.Breene- a mianowicie pierwszy tom który przeczytałam, wywołał we mnie gamę sprzecznych emocji. Początek- ukłony! Podobał mi się bardzo zamysł książki i jak to na samym początku było poprowadzone. Motyw zakazanego lasu, grasującej tam bestii i głównej bohaterki, która zrobi wszystko dla rodziny ❤️🩹 uwielbiam. Książka od początku zrobiła na mnie dobre wrażenie, podobała mi się. Podobał mi się bardzo motyw demonów, smoczego księcia - Nyfain'a (piękne imię!), bardzo lubiłam mieszkańców jego rezydencji, głównie bardzo podobał mi się Hadriel 🤤😅. Lubię tą chemię pomiędzy bohaterami, Nyfain i Finley zdecydowanie coś do siebie mieli! Lubię jak przedawnione były relacje między Księciem a podwładnymi w królestwie i lubię jak mówiono o konflikcie z Królem Demonów. Lubię te tajemnice, które wychodziły stopniowo z biegiem wydarzeń. W zasadzie bardzo bardzo dużo rzeczy mi się w tej książce podobało 🤣🤷 jednak czegoś mi tu brakowało 🫣. Myślę że akcja na końcu tej 1 części nie pobiegłam zgodnie z moimi myślami, również dość długo czytałam tą książkę jak na ilość jej stron (310). Mało stron, akcja się toczyła, a dla mnie... Jakoś to było mało, nie umiem wytłumaczyć, myślę jeszcze czy kontynuować serię A wy? Była śmieszna, mądra, mega uczuciowa i czytając ją normalnie przeżywałam ją takimi emocjami na zewnątrz, że niektórzy mogliby spojrzeć na mnie jak na głupią 🫠🤷 Nie umiem wam opisać jak bardzo mi się ona podobała! Nie spodziewałam się, że te wydarzenia choć żadne wybitne, zrobią na mnie takie wrażenie. Myślę że to po prostu chodzi o styl książki 🥰 autorka pięknie poprowadziła ich historię. Okej nie umiem wam oddać tego jak piszczałam, tupałam nogami, płakałam rzewnymi łzami i śmiałam się w głos. Identical- Aleksandra Negrońska - 3 tom serii Students. Będzie krótko, bez spoilerów ❤️ Ta część była... Nie wiem, chyba na równi tak dobra jak 1 i 2. Nie mam na razie ulubionej części, zobaczymy po Unique, bo tym razem każda część serii podoba mi się tak samo 😍 Rosanna- ikona, moi drodzy. Babka z silnym charakterem, nie dająca sobie wchodzić na głowę. Zayden- tak wiele cech ma podobnych do Rosanny 😍 Uważam, że jako bohaterowie i jako para są napisami na prawdę fajnie. Nie są jacyś wymyślni, ale nie są też błahymi bohaterami, którymi byśmy się nudzili. Odzywki Rosanny umilały mi czytanie, a każdy z bohaterów dokładnie jak w poprzednich czasach wpływał na ogromny plus tej książki. Serię Students uważam, że serię, po którą należy sięgnąć by się odprężyć. Nie trzeba się na niej wysilać, główkować, jest łatwa w czytaniu, śmieszna, a dzieje bohaterów są poprzedzone tak by z rozdziału na rozdział wszystko było jasne. ‼️Recenzja ‼️Michał Śmielak „Osada” Nauczyłam się już, że życie pisze najlepsze historie, dlatego rzadko sięgam po fikcję. Ale że robi się już chłodno, za oknem szarówka, deszcz i wiatr zwiastujące nieubłagane nadejście zimy, zaczęłam szukać książki, której akcja dzieje się w śnieżnej scenerii. Tak właśnie trafiłam na „Osadę”. Akcja powieści przebiega dwutorowo - zimą 1978 roku i latem 2023. Mamy więc do czynienia z pogodowym kontrastem oraz czasowym rozstrzałem, za którymi kryje się ewolucja jednego z bohaterów, kiedyś Jaśka, młodego milicjanta, dziś Jana, emerytowanego funkcjonariusza, który zmuszony zostaje do ponownego zmierzenia się z wydarzeniami z przeszłości. W odciętej od świata przez zimę stulecia osadzie doszło do zbrodni. Niezrozumiałej i bezsensownej, tym straszniejszej, że prawdopodobnie popełnionej przez jednego z osadników. Mieszkańców ogarnia strach, który potęguje brak możliwości wezwania pomocy. Muszą sami stawić czoła złu, które znów zaburzyło ich spokój. Więcej nie zdradzę. Sami musicie dać się wciągnąć w historię, a ta została naprawdę zgrabnie napisana. Pochłaniają szczególnie pierwsze rozdziały, folklor, który wygrywa z rozumem, oraz to, jak rzeczywistość brutalnie się z nim rozprawia. Sama zagadka, o ile początkowo dała mi do myślenia, o tyle w okolicach połowy książki się rozpłynęła, pozostawiać tylko pytanie: jak oni w ten książce dojdą do tego, co ja już wiem? Suspens niezbyt się tu udał, ale cholera wie, może ja już za dużo kryminałów się naczytałam, a może zbyt dużo true crime? Akcja po połowie trochę zwalnia, a i trup ściele się zbyt gęsto. Jestem jednak w stanie założyć, że to tylko kwestia gustu. Witam was tego fantastycznego wieczoru 😍 czemu fantastycznego? Bo skończyłam właśnie Clone 🌺 Kiedy 1 raz kupiłam sobie Clone i Different (myślałam że to dylogia 🤣) nie przeczytałam nawet połowy Clone i tak konkretnie tego nienawidziłam, że pozbyłam się. Okropnie mnie wkurzała. Teraz kiedy po wielu tik tokach stwierdziłam "Dam temu szansę!" skończyłam właśnie Clone stwierdzam bardzo poważną rzecz- za pierwszym razem coś było ze mną nie tak 🤣 To jest genialne!!! ❤️❤️🫠 Rosanna przeprowadza się Wielkiej Brytanii, żeby rozpocząć studia prawnicze i zamieszka ze swoją siostrą bliźniaczką -Lilianą i przybranym bratem- Alexandrem. Es war so traurig diese Nachricht zu lesen dass sie nicht mehr da, aber auch so emotional wie sehr sie doch geliebt wurde. Eine tolle Frau, mit so viel Energie und Leichtigkeit, nach so vielen Schicksalsschlägen. Sie war eine Kämpferin, eine Macherin und hat sich niemals unterkriegen lassen. Eine Legende die im Herzen bleibt. Ihr Buch ist mir dadurch umsomehr ins Auge gefallen. Es hat mich interessiert woher sie diesen positiven Lebensgeist immer hatte und diese enorme Kraft. Und tatsächlich, habe ich mich ihr beim lesen, sehr nahe gefühlt. Es kann kein Zufall sein, dass dieses Buch so ansprechend ist, beim lesen kommt es einem so vor, als ob Sie (Tina Turner).als Person direkt vor einem sitzt, mit einem einen Tee trinkt und ihre Geschichte erzählt. Die Geschichte wie sie zum Buddhismus kam und das Chanten und Meditieren, ihr so viel geholfen haben. Aber das allein war nicht nur das faszinierende, sondern das sie viele Einblicke in ihr Leben ebenfalls in diesem Buch verpackt hat. Wie wann und wo sie zu gewissen Situationen immer mehr eine parallele zu sich selbst gefunden hat und ihre Kraft sich entwickelte. Dieses Buch bringt einem nicht nur die Person näher, es regt einen auch sehr zum Nachdenken an und hilft auf seine Art und Weise auch, Hindernisse zu überwinden. Sie stellt ganz klar, das sie damit keine Fundamente setzen will, man soll seinen eigenen Weg in die Meditation finden. These classics in wonderful autumn colours sit alongside my new candle for the season from @emberstag_candles and it smells and looks wonderful. This week I am inspired to make sure I come back more consistently to bookstagram. I’ve found that being off on holiday last week made me realise how anxious and stressed I was before my holiday, the first school term was exceptionally challenging and it seems to have taken over my mind space, leaving little space for reviewing and posting. The last weeks holiday has been good, a quiet time to reflect and I have taken time to cook wholesome food, get outside when I could and put self-care at the top of my priorities. I feel so much better for it. I’ve made plans for posting for the next few weeks and I know to-do lists and planning works well for me so I feel positive that I can meet my wishes to be more present on here. It’s a Monday and the start of a new week and I have a couple of books on the go - Legends and Lattes by @travis_baldree and King of Pride by @authoranahuang and I’m enjoying both. I’m also starting a buddy read today with @bookish.brews reading Hooked by #emilymcintire and I’m excited for this one. Czytam. Bo lubię. Bo chcę się czegoś dowiedzieć. Bo pozytywnie nastrajają mnie dobre zakończenia. Bo chcę poczuć dreszcz emocji. Bo muszę coś sprawdzić. Czytam i wymagam. Ostatnio po raz pierwszy od dłuższego czasu ledwo dotarłam do pierwszego rozdziału. Okładka mnie zachwyciła, treść załamała. I na pierwszym rozdziale się skończyło. Szkoda mi czasu na książki, które miały potencjał, ale przykryła je może beztroska, może zbytnie skupienie się na tym, by się sprzedawały. Byle jak złożone, Z błędami, których jest więcej niż mniej. I dlatego poprawiam książki z tą świadomością. Usuwam tyle błędów, ile się da zauważyć. Wygładzam wszelkie niedociągnięcia. Bo nie chcę, by ktokolwiek odłożył książkę, nad którą pracowałam, z poczuciem straconego czasu czy niedopracowanej treści. 📖BOOK REVIEW📖 Title • Iron Gold Series • Red Rising #4 Author • @piercebrownofficial Genre • Sci-Fi “A new wound can take a body. Opening an old one can claim a soul.” 🚀 PLOT • 3🌟 Morning Star was always going to be a hard act to follow. Ten years removed from its predecessor, multiple POVs shift the focus from being a story solely about Darrow. The plot threads are more intricate and the reveals still hit harder than a prime Tyson but the quality of the story’s pacing and structure took a dive that an Olympian would be proud of. Although at times I didn't feel the same level of breakneck excitement, the ending has me wanting ALL that Dark Age smoke! 🚀 WORLDBUILDING • 4🌟 As if this world couldn't get any bigger! The worldbuilding is truly on an epic scale. Even though my sci-fi knowledge is elementary at best and I don't understand half the terms mentioned, the level of detail is such that I can envision myself in this vibrant cool AF world. I'm here for all the moon/planet-hopping madness, even if keeping track of where so and so is or what happened where taxed my brain some! 🚀 CHARACTERS • 4🌟 So… I will always ride for my guy Darrow but damn did he make some stupid choices in this book. At first I wanted Darrow ‘the father’ but it seems as though Dark Age will give me my favourite version, Darrow ‘the Reaper’. I’m lukewarm regarding the other three POVs but outta the bunch, Ephriam is my favourite. Having said that, all three have interesting stories and I'm intrigued to see how their lives intertwine or affect that of Darrow. And thank the Lord for Sevro and Victra, it wouldn't be Red Rising without those two bloodydamn lighting up every scene they are in! Bookmail!!!!!!!!!! These books I had to get from my wishlist because they are IT!!! Maestro: A Love Story by @audendarauthor, recommended to me by a friend, I read it in a night, I was up until 2am despite having to get up at 5am! And I regret nothing!!! It was amazing, heartbreaking and heart warming allll in the same book!! Highly recommend! Boneyard Tides by @darkromancemommy omg!!!! A why choose that just takes your head, spins it around 150 times and then puts it back and on and expects you to know which way is up!!! Definitely worth going to get!!! Decieved by the Gargoyles by @author.lillian.lark my first introduction to gargoyles and I haven't looked back!!! Still my favourite gargoyle monster romance 😍 Muscles and monsters and tentacles and triathlons by @ashleybennettauthor omg!!!! These brilliant books are soooo worth the read, even for Atlas' tail alone 'thump thump thump' but Cyrus omg Cyrus 😍 And also Dipped in Holly and Claimed by Cupid by @author.danaisaly the story of Nick and Holly that will melt the panties off even the iciest of queen's!!!!
