To him she seemed so beautiful, so seductive, so different from ordinary people, that he could not understand why no one was as disturbed as he by the clicking of her heels on the paving stones, why no one else's heart was wild with the breeze stirred by the sighs of her veils, why everyone did not go mad with the movements of her braid, the flight of her hands, the gold of her laughter. He had not missed a single one of her gestures, not one of the indications of her character, but he did not dare approach her for fear of destroying the spell. #SmokeandAshes by @amitav_ghosh1 I want to thank @netgalley for the audiobook.I am listening to this audiobook at a snail pace because I felt very ignorant about the past I knew till date.It felt like I gained access only to a minuscule part of filtered history during my student life. The trade history is so vast and so different, I had a premonition when I first read Sea of Poppies. But little did I imagine the extent of exploitation the colonies had to go through at the hands of their colonizers like British, Dutch and French. The kind of canvas the colonizers tried to paint for the world differs drastically from the ground reality. The way they monopolized opium trade and earned millions to fill their coffers at the price of countless natives efforts and lives is quite disturbing. It took me a long time to process and digest the first few chapters. The well written chapters show the kind of effort invested in researching and tracing the historical roots about Tea and Opium trade. I am enjoying listening to the audiobook. #qotd: Do you like reading history or science books? #Teatrade #Yunan #Bihar #audiobook #audiobookstagram #bookstagramindia #thebookieclub #bookstoread #readmore

Philosophers believe that ultimately a person's freedom is threaded inextricably with the quality of their agency - their ability to perceive their actions and desires as their own, and to feel able to create change. In small and large ways, Al systems are impinging on creating a feeling of individual disempowerment loss of our free will. this, even a sense of This is our predicament as a society: the ways in which AI, and other statistical algorithms, are governed over the coming years will profoundly impact us all. Yet we lack the tools to interrogate that change. We don't fully comprehend their impacts. We cannot decide what morals we want to encode in these systems. We disagree on the controls we may want to impose on Al software. We are collectively relinquishing our moral authority to machines. - Madhumita Murgia Code Dependent I am presently in the initial chapters of #CodeDependent authored by Madhumita Murgia which is shortlisted for the Women's Prize Non-fiction 2024. As I am diving into the detailed case studies like Benja, Hiba and others, I am coming across shocking revelations.I am introduced to the dark side of the AI industry, how the illustrious giants of Silicon valley are exploiting the young population of lower- income countries in the name of providing temporary employment. It is heartbreaking to learn, how severely they got traumatized after coming in contact with toxic content during their work as content moderator for social media giant Meta for platforms like Instagram and Facebook. These discoveries are forcing me to think about the way our life is interrupted by AI and the kind of dependency we developed due to their widespread. It is not only affecting us financially, morally and psychologically even our memories have become weak, all thanks to our dependency on Google and other such apps. This is a book that must be read and widely discussed. Thank you @panmacmillanindia for giving me the opportunity to become a part of this book tour. #qotd: Do you like reading science non fiction? Kitabo mein mere dard ki dawa toh nahi mili par kuch naye dost zarur mile. 🌿 Yes I made a lot of fictional friends through books. Some are soft hearted while others are headstrong.Their life struggles made me realise, there are many souls out there suffering and confronting more grave matters than mine.Situations whose thoughts itself made me numb. 🍀 A Pearl that Broke its Shell made me understand to what degree patriarchy can shackle souls leaving them hardly a space to breath. They barely survive under the scrutinizing eyes, shielding their emotions between the four walls. 🍀 We need to be more hopeful, resilient in our efforts and believe in the Persian adage - "This too shall pass". 🍀 Romcom is a genre that heals me after getting numbed by the serious heartbreaking historical fiction. #TheOffLimitsRule is a light-hearted story with dual pov. 🍀 #Qotd: How was March so far reading wise? #apearlthatbrokeitsshell #bookblog #booksparks #fictionallove #musings #litfic #bookstagram #thebookieclub #booksofinstagram

#Rukhmabai by Sudhir Chandra They say - few things are worth waiting for, this lovely book is one of them. The moment I read the blurb, I knew I was about to walk on the path to discover not only a lion hearted, farsighted woman but also someone who achieved an extraordinary feat going against the patriarchal society. She forced the government to revise marriage law in the 1890s. Thank you @panmacmillanindia for the lovely book. Blurb : The extraordinary story of a child bride who took on the patriarchy and emerged one of India’s pioneering women doctors. From overcoming stupendous trials to inscribing her name in the annals of women’s liberation, Rukhmabai’s journey is marked by a quiet, unyielding strength. Denied formal education and wedded off at eleven years of age to a nineteen-year-old wastrel named Dadaji Bhikaji, Rukhmabai refused to live with him and was dragged into a vexatious legal suit for the ‘restitution of conjugal rights’. The suit set off a huge social and political debate of far-reaching importance. Coverage of her historic defiance in both British and Indian media established her as a salient figure of global feminism and, along with the backing of notable reformers, soon paved the way for her move to the United Kingdom to study medicine. Studying at the London School of Medicine for Women and qualifying to be a doctor in 1894, she returned to India a celebrity but chose an unglamorous life of service through medical practice. She spent the next many years, until her retirement in 1929, leading hospitals in Surat and Rajkot through two pandemics, performing daring surgeries, awakening women across classes and inspiring them to openly seek medical treatment. An outcome of research spanning decades, Sudhir Chandra’s intelligent, empathetic biography shines brilliant new light on this extraordinary but little-known life of a rebel-doctor who dared to challenge the norms of her time and left behind a formidable legacy. The radical view she proposed of woman’s freedom is yet to be fully realized. #qotd: Which was the biography you read? #childbride #rebeldoctor #SudhirChandra #biography #newrelease #bookblog #bookstagram #thebookieclub

#Bookreview: #WelcometoParadise by @twinklerkhanna : Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.2/5 I want to thank the publisher for the review copy provided in lieu of honest review. : 'Strangers in the night, exchanging glances', the lyrics of a Frank Sinatra song dropped into her head, followed by a bout of laughter at the image of a duet between her and the spider. She immediately felt a dampness. The laughter had put too much pressure on her bladder. Emotional incontinence followed by actual incontinence. At least she still had her diaper on. 📚 An enthralling cocktail of emotions greets the reader in Welcome to Paradise. In this anthology consisting of five stories, the author beautifully portrays humans at their best and worst. 📚 The readers can't help but feel for the characters going through love, heartbreak, loss, grieving over loss of loved one, numbness and then finally finding their way back to the lively life. 📚 Written in layman's language, the book gripped my attention from the very first story and I couldn't let it go till the last word. The author portrayed critical issues like euthanasia, death, dysfunctional family, adultery, body shaming, domestic violence, grief, depression and substance abuse. 📚 The stories are an alluring mix of relatable human situations with a dose of reality and sprinkle of sarcasm. The characters are well developed and are easy to connect with. 📚 Every story shined in their own light. But nearly departed and jelly sweets tugged at my heart the most.I could feel for the elderly lady Madhura maybe because my diabetic granny is at a similar age, she gets irritated at her own weak legs which gives away now and then. Her frail figure doesn't support her previous speed which makes walking from one end of house to another a tormenting business. 📚 I would recommend this book to every reader who loves to read stories close to reality. : ( Anthology, book, reader, bookstagram) #qotd: Which one book you want to read in the first month of 2024? #bodyshaming #dysfunctionalfamily #anthology #readreadread #bookstagram #bookstsgramindia #thebookieclub #igers #fyp #fypage #bookphotography

#BookReview - What shapes a person's character? There can be varied answers to that. Some might say family values, peer influence, experiences, and exposure. However, Scarred Earth by Bhaswar Mukherjee adds a few more to this list— struggles, conflict, injustice, revenge, interactions, and dreams. Bhaswar Mukherjee's Scarred Earth follows the journey of two young protagonists: Baruni and Muneim. They belong to two different communities, different strata of society and burdened with different miseries. Their narrative runs parallely with each other during the same timeline, joining only for a while and then, again, parting for their respective journeys. To put it succinctly, Baruni is a teenager, brave and feisty, coming from a small village. When she goes searching for her father at a police station she is raped by the officer present. Crippled and hopeless she embarks on a journey to Kolkata when she sees her entire village set on fire. On the other hand there's Muneim, scion of a clothing empire who wishes to be an IAS officer. This goes against his father's aspirations of him and so he is thrown out of the house. This is a fast paced book and the author ensures it stays the same despite the varied emotions making a foray every now and then— love, grief, or a moment of happiness, triumph and more. Both Baruni and Muneim have their share of misfortunes and both showcase their fortitude in fighting all odds. As you delve deeper in the narrative, your heart will reach out to both main characters, leaving you angry and misty-eyed at the same time. © 📌 CONTINUED IN COMMENTS 👇 --- ~ Q - What do you think about the book's cover and the story? --- #Bookstagramindia #youngadultfiction #yanovels #bookgobbler #womensfiction #indianauthors #indianbookstagrammer #thebookcommunity_ #booksharks#thebookishladiesclub #bookishladiesclub #notyouraveragebookspam #bionicbookbabes #thebookieclub

#TheBountifulDream I recently started reading the book #FarmerSutra by @kalpana.manivannan published by @srishtipub Still in the initial chapters, the author's story took me back to the lane of childhood memories where I lived in a house surrounded by fruit and flower trees. 🍀 From childhood I hoped to create a garden of my own, the book The Secret Garden left a deep impression on me. I could easily relate to the dreams of the author. 🍀 The exhilaration one feels after the fulfillment of each small dream is hard to describe in words. I felt quite similar after creating the colourful green space in my home. The colourful blossoms of Bougainville sprouting against the turquoise wall makes me smile each day.The tiny fishes racing against their parents in the small lily pond I created for them is something that eases my stress. 🍀 #Qotd: What you enjoy doing other than reading? ~ Q - what's your fav beverage/snack while reading? :::: #BookReview - Being a book blogger isn't an easy job. You get in and out of the lives of characters with plethora of stories around you. And sometimes some characters are so grave that being an empath you end up catching their vibes. Something similar happened to me while reading Maia penned by Tanya Jain. This women centric tale laced with much thrill wasn't easy on me. With impeccable world building and noteworthy characters, the story makes a space in your mind that's going to stay long after you are done with the book. Maia being the main character here has grey hues. Her past has been meddling with her present and keeping the two apart is a task. She is an editor of a leading fashion magazine and her life is all about glitz and glam. However, behind the showbiz Maia's life is falling apart and we see her trying hard to hold on real tight. But sometimes when you hold things too tight they tend to break easily. And that's what happens here too. Maia is a character driven book and the main character while solid seems weak at times. This is perhaps author's way of making the character relatable. However, her confusion, dilemma, fears, anxieties all seem so real that they get to you. It left me unnerved. Adding to that the suspense about Maia's past was something that keeps the other characters in the book as well the readers hooked. In a nutshell, this is a slice of life story. Maia is standing at a threshold of healing and this is how it all begins for her. Maia is just a step away from unleashing her innate reality, all she needs is to let go, accept and move on. © ::::: #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #bookgobbler #characterdriven #indianwritinginenglish #thrill #suspense #indianbookstagrammer #indiabookstagram #bookstagramindia _ #booksharks#thebookishladiesclub #bookishladiesclub #notyouraveragebookspam #bionicbookbabes #thebookieclub

~ Q - Tell me something amazing that's happened to you lately? ::::: #BookReview - Who is a patriot? And how do you define or justify their patriotic actions? Terms like patriotism will always linger on the blurring line of right and wrong, justice and injustice. What you choose and who you choose will always be reflection your conscience, your upbringing and your surroundings. Adesh Tajane (aka I.the.unrealist) presents a 59 pages of riveting tale, Patriot, that talks of this very blurring line of control. The story revolves around two main characters– a police office and a most-wanted terrorist. They both are corrupted but fate brings them in close proximity, well-defining their contrasting lives. It all begins when a decorated police officer is suspended from his position on the allegation of accepting bribe. He will soon be brought before the court. Another turn of event takes place when a bomb blast suddenly rocks a railway station. As you move through the chapters, you'll find the police man interacting with the dangerous terrorist. We see a number of narratives intermingling and giving shape to this novella. Written in simple language and mostly in third person, the author explores various aspects of this large scale operation that includes front line personnels investigating and serving justice to those who were affected in the bomb-blast. It's surprising and simultaneously incredible to see how the author has projected the raw emotions, the moral dilemma, the war-like trauma, and death in just 59 pages. This is at the most 2 hour long read but a book that will make you ponder, taking you into the depth of your being, making you question and cross-question yourself. ✨️ When did your love of reading start? ✨️ . I've always loved books ever since I was able to read. Some of my favourite childhood books were *Alice's Adventures in Wonderland* and *The Faraway Tree* series by Enid Blyton. I still own my original childhood editions. . How cute is this Belle Funko Pop?! I think Belle's amazing library influenced my love of books too... . Reading update: - I'm halfway through *The Atlas Six* and I'm enjoying it a lot. There are some very complex and interesting characters in this book. I finished *Faeries of Oz: Lion* on Kindle and decided I needed a cheesy autumn romance next. So I started *Pumpkin Spice and Not So Nice* on Kindle Unlimited. It's a cute and cosy read so far. I'm 47% of the way through this one. Me and my husband also listened to more of *Thunderhead* on Audible over the weekend. It's brilliant! . Have a marvellous Monday everyone, and happy reading ✨️📖 . The author Maya Realm beckons you on a voyage that will help you discover a newer side of your persona— something that surpasses the every day obligations and dilemma. The narrative opens with a thoughtful interaction with Macallah or Mac and her grandfather. He appeals her to live in the present and hunt for her heart's desire because only then will the puzzle pieces fall in place. However, soon after her grandfather passes away, Mac finds a notebook from Tia Valliah. We see the the plot progresses from hereon. #Bookreview: #SidoKanhu by @tuhinsinha1 @clarkprasad : Rating: 4.7/❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ : Thank you @rupa_publications for the review copy provided in lieu of an honest review. 'Saheb rule is full of trouble. Shall we go or shall we stay? Eating, Drinking and Clothing - For everything, we face trouble. Shall we go or shall we stay? Sido, why are you bathed in blood? Kanhu, why do you cry, 'Hul', 'Hul' ? For our people, we have bathed in blood, for the trader thieves'. Can you feel the resentment, grievances, anger, pain resonating from the lines of this poem. This is the tale of transformation of the nature loving peaceful Santhals into fierce warriors who led the first uprising against the mighty British empire & Dikus in 1855. The Santhals were manipulated & exploited by the pro-British zamindars like Madho Soren who would give loans to the illiterate Santhals, take thumbprints on papers without declaring all the terms & conditions. Later on, when they failed to meet his unreasonable demands, he confiscated their property, forcing them to work as labourers. On registering their pleas against this injustice at court, the judiciary system too failed them as they were preoccupied with their own interests. They were also taxed by the Britishers which made it harder for the farmers to survive. The book mirrors Santhal's way of life, bonding over beliefs, ancestral teachings, culture & thoughts It reflected the mindset of the imperial rulers who always underestimated & looked down on these tribal people their beliefs and culture. They always regarded them as labourers who will toil in the fields for them. The authors deftly serialised the events that led the first struggle for independence that gripped my attention from the very start. The way these simple minded peace loving Santhals understood the tactics of the tyrannical rulers & organised themselves is awe-inspiring.The climax will leave your heart heavy with emotions & questions. I would love to recommend this book to all the readers. It is an important piece of history that needs to be read more widely. #qotd: Which one book based on the freedom struggle you would like to recommend ? #freedomstruggle

He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty. Dancers in the dark is a running commentary on societal evils where the siblings duo Kalki and Karthi are star players.Born in dire poverty in Kilipur, a small village in South India Kalki, a seven year old girl was called with multiple names since early childhood due to her pitch black colour. Her family belonged to the lower most division of the society - untouchables.Due to which combined with their poor economic status, they faced rejection and derision at every step of life by people from every walks of life Karthi's only wish in life is to treat his sister's affliction as worms of guilt gnaws on his mind each time someone calls her a darkie or other names. To make this little wish true, the duo set out on a voyage leading them to misadventures like getting lost, duped and ending up in police station. But it also lead to visiting an exotic festival, a divine intervention, discovering a different kind of world and finding an ally in most unlikely places. Every thread of the story speaks for the souls belonging to the lower division and those who do not conform to the norms of gender who are exploited, abused and manipulated by the patriarchal society.Even when it's a matter of life & death, the life saviours belonging to upper caste refuse to acknowledge them as humans and remained indifferent to their plight. The engaging narrative will grip the attention of the reader from the very start. The powerful world building, immersive characters & strong plotline that moves at a steady pace will keep one glued to the book till the very end. At moments, I could feel the pain and sadness of the siblings searing my heart. The countless rejections faced by them will leave an indelible mark on the mind. One can't help but thinking about the countless souls facing similar fate day in day out just because they were born in lower division of the society. It is a book that I would love to recommend. #colourism #transgender #India #Dancersinthedark #recommended #bookstagram

#Bookreview: Loop by Willam Kely Mc Clung : Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.2/5 I want to thank the author for the review copy provided in lieu of an honest review. Loop is a tantalizing mix of martial arts, supernatural elements, secrets, power tussle and technology embedded in an engaging story that keeps the reader glued to the end. The book speaks of interesting unique characters like one legged hero, a secret agent with a penchant for gaming and a scientist. They team up together in a small town against the zombie debacle. It portrays the possible consequences of the obsession of humans with technology. The conspiracy theories that dot the plotline feel like one's darkest nightmares. The mere thought of them is enough to disturb the mind and question about humans' increasing dependency on the technology. The detailed descriptions by the author keep the reader totally absorbed in the other world. The characters are shaded, constantly weighing their interests and fighting their own demons. As the story progresses, Bad Ass, Clothes Hanger and Teen Idol don't feel like any stranger . Loop is a thrilling roller-caster ride which is like a reflection of the gloomy future, the humankind is advancing towards at enormous speed. If humans don't restrict the over-indulgence and moderate the dependency on social media and technology, the doom day is not far away. The author through the example of the zombie apocalypse showed us that the death knell that is almost staring us in the face. I would recommend this book to every science fiction and thriller lover. #qotd: Do you feel social media is affecting your life in a negative way? #MyReadingCompanion1001 Dogs, lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you're going to lose a dog, and there's going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can't support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion. There's such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price. Maybe loving dogs is a way we do penance for all the other illusions we allow ourselves and the mistakes we make because of those illusions. #Bookreview: In a thousand different ways by @official_ceceliaahern I want to thank @netgalley @harpercollinsuk for the audiobook. A vivid, vibrant and emotive tale greets one in In a thousand different ways.Imagine a world full of colours of raw human emotions which you cannot only see but get affected by too.Sounds very strange right, but it's reality for someone. 🎈 Born in a dysfunctional family Alice was different from all other children of her age.At an early age, she began to see people's colour corresponding to their inner emotions and from that time onwards her life was not the same. Her special situation was diagnosed as Synesthesia which caused her severe headaches too. It was hard for her to mingle freely with people without getting affected by their aura. The journey of her life is full of ups and downs which will keep the readers engaged till the end. 🎈 The author has woven a complicated, layered and gripping story brimming with emotions that will tug at your heart. The characters are flawed and well carved. She has beautifully portrayed the difficult childhood, lack of mental awareness, the opinionated society, the cut throat competition at the work place and the masked people whose emotions get triggered in unexpected situations in the book. 🎈 Through the character of Alice and Lily, Cecelia Ahern has depicted the plight of persons with special situations trying to find acceptance not only in the world but among their own creed too.Alice is often seen walking on eggshells around her mother and younger brother due to their attitude towards her.She is constantly tugging on her inner strength to fit in the jigsaw of the daily life in public while battling the tentacles of colours inside. 🎈 In a thousand different ways is an tempting interplay of friendship, love, lust, rage, jealousy, self realisation and acceptance one can't possibly miss. I would highly recommend this book to all the readers. #qotd : Which one do you wish to finish this month? #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #positive #synesthesia #Family #ceceliaahern #audiobooks #bookstagramers #bookstagramindia #readerscommunity #thebookieclub #igers

It falls in the same category. The life story of #MrinaliniDebi is narrated in her own words through this fictional account. She lived most of her life in the shadows of her world famous husband eminent writer, composer and painter #RabindranathTagore. Starting from her marriage, her relation with her husband till her death everything is recounted in this book. The internal politics of Thakurbari and the important events that shaped her married life is well detailed. She throws light on her husband's relationship with other members of the family. Many questions that arise in the mind of the readers about Rabindranath Tagore and Thakurbari are well answered. Kabiguru is projected in a different light which may not be agreeable to all even though it's a fictional account. He is portrayed more as a nomadic person who is more concerned about his writing and work, constantly moving to places in search of inspiration least concerned about his family. The fleeting accounts thrown in between, the irregularity while recollecting incidents threw the plot off track more than once and damaged its pace. Q - What makes you happy? :::: #BookReview - In our life we get into various relationships. Every relationship has it's own destiny. We meet these people for a reason. With some we go through hardships and see through the thick and thin of life. But that doesn't mean that we are supposed to be with them forever. However, while with them we are creating memories. And these memories come back to us at every walk of our life. A walk in my shoes by Ritesh Karnani is one such story, narrated by Rounak. Rounak bares it all to his wife with utmost honesty. And this trip down the memory lane carries the hues of love, breakup, betrayal, hardships, pain, accomplishments and so much more. The old wounds are scratched, revisited, remembered but this story makes us nostalgic. It is a compelling read. And with a heartbreak that the main character goes through, it is heartwrenching too. It is one of those reads for the love season. It celebrates friendship, love and life. I could go on and on about the book but you've got to read and live this life with the characters to truly understand the essence it carries. It's got an easy-going narration, relatable characters. It makes a reader to revisit their past. But we don't feel melancholic, instead a feeling of liberation washes over us. The confidence and the sincerity the protagonist exudes is inspiring. The author brings to our attention the little things in life that go a long way - the trust and support of family, company of a friend and love of a beloved. Upon closing this book you get a newer perspective to life. You learn to look at things from other's perspective. Inculcating the capability to understand one another. The book is light-hearted, engaging and amplifies human emotions. © :::: #bookstagramindia #indianbookstagrammer #contemporaryfiction #romancebooks #indianauthors #authorsofindia #heartmelting #thursdaze #bookishlove #happyreading thebookishladiesclub #bookishladiesclub #readallday #readingtime #bookphotography #booknerd #bookoholic #bookgasm #bookloversparadise #notyouraveragebookspam #bionicbookbabes #thebookieclub

#TheHauntingRealities I am reading #CursedBunny by #BoraChung translated by @antonhur published by @hachette_india I have only read The Head,The Embodiment and now reading the third one. These stories create a different kind of world, an alternative reality which feels closer to the real world. The issues embedded in the stories like progressive changes in a woman's body due to age and health issues that bother her from time to time. The constant judgmental society which monitors her every moment, prods her with a thousands questions, plasters her with their own presumed notions and make her suffer in every possible way.Their concern harms her more than help her. These stories left me with an eerie feeling, it's hard to continue without taking a break from the questions that haunt you mind. #qotd: Which character or story haunted you for a long time even after you finished reading the book? #women #womenissues #shortstories #koreanliterature #southkorea #translatedliterature #AntonHur #thebookieclub #igers #bookstagramcommunity #bookstagram #currentread #kahwa #teaaddict #photooftheday #instareads

And Then There Were None is a classic mystery novel written by @officialagathachristie The book tells the story of ten strangers who are invited by U.N. Owen(cleaver use of Pun right there) to a remote island off the coast of Devon, England, and then systematically murdered one by one according to a nursery rhyme "Ten Little Soldier Boys". Is it revenge for the past deeds or is a psychotic serial kill on loose. One of the strengths of the book is its complex and well-developed characters. Each of the ten strangers has their own unique personality and background, and as the story progresses, the reader becomes increasingly invested in their fates. The plot is also well-crafted, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing until the very end. Overall, And Then There Were None is a gripping and suspenseful read that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Christie's writing is sharp and concise, and the story is expertly paced, with just the right amount of tension and mystery to keep you engaged from start to finish. If you're a fan of classic mysteries or just looking for a thrilling read, And Then There Were None is definitely worth picking up for all the mystery lovers out there. Hello my Bookie People! I’m back….I hope 😂 Apologies for the long posting absence, I’ve had a lot going on! I’ve just opened my own wee shop selling fabric and haberdashery so I’ve been super busy getting it up and running before Christmas. I’m hoping now I’m a couple weeks in from opening that I’m going to have time to do some more reading and get a post up maybe once a week? No promises! What have you all been reading recently? I’ve been pretty busy so I’ve been trying to stick to nice easy reads, I’ve just not l long finished scattered showers by Rainbow Rowell which was good as I could just read a story at a time. I’ve also just finished listening to An Ember in the Ashes series on audible…. The series was good!!! But now I think I’m headed for a reading slump! So any audible suggestions are welcome. #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #thebookieclub #bookstagrammer #igreads #bookworm #bookaddict #Readersofinstagram #bookishlife #books #reading #fiction #pinecone #hardback #rainbow #rainbowrowell #scattredshowers #ya #romance #anthology

You're a kaleidoscope. You change every time I look away. 🦄🦄🦄 Almost Midnight is a book of two short stories by Rainbow Rowell. Midnights is the story of Noel and Mags, who meet at the same New Year's Eve party every year and fall a little more in love each time. Kindred Spirits is about Elena, who decides to queue to see the new Star Wars movie and meets Gabe, a fellow fan. These two stories are absolutely cute, adorable and perfect for quick reads. I do choose you... 🦄🦄🦄 Keiko with her friends Audrey and Jenna are about to start the new school year in seventh grade. But while Keiko wants this year to be all about the three of them, Audrey has other plans which includes boyfriends. The Fall Ball us set to take place on a few weeks time and Audrey is determined that all three of them need to go with boyfriends by their sides. But when all of this leads to her best friends not speaking to each other, Keiko is forced to pick sides but everything starts to fall apart when more secrets are revealed. Will Keiko be able to fix the mess before she loses one or both of her friends forever? 🦄🦄🦄 Keep It Together Keiko Carter is a middle grade novel by Debbi Michiko Florence. This book has everything you'd find in the life of a real preteen to early teen's life. Friendship, crushes, boys, toxicity, drama, fights you name it, so it's the perfect read if you belong to that demographic or are generally interested in middle grade books. Keiko is a strong protagonist that wants to make everyone happy and geeks like the weight of the world is on her shoulders. Not only does she have to deal with her friends, but her family is on the brink of collapse and she feels like it's her responsibility to make everything right. The storyline has this coming of age sort of feeling to it because Keiko is finally learning about the truth that the world is not all sleepovers and unicorns. Though thee amount of toxicity in this book would make a adult novel cower. I hate any sort of relationship (not just a romantic relationship) where it's obvious that a person is being controlled and told what to do then belittled or bullied for thinking for themselves. They always say choose your friends wisely and it shows. But the ending was satisfactory with Keiko finally understanding what's right and what's wrong for her so overall this was a good book especially if you're looking for a change in pace. 🦄🦄🦄 Rated 8.5/10 Melina L. #Bookstagramfeature #LibraryofBookstagram #bookstagram #bookreviewer #bookhaul #sofetchbooks #goodreads #bookworm #booksofinstagram #bookishlove #bookcommunity #thebookieclub #bookstagrammer #bookquote

QOTD: Is pre-planning posts important to you? A: I've never been a person to decide when I'll be posting what and they're more impulsive. E.g. this particular picture was clicked less than 10 minutes ago and the set-up is still not cleared up. So it's fascinating to me when I see people plan their posts in advance and stick to it.
