The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman 😈 It's been a while, but I finally caught up with Osmans Thursday Murder Club. On boxing day, a dangerous package gets delivered to the UK, and the body count begins to rise. The Thursday murder club is on the case, and all hell breaks loose. I had forgotten how funny these characters are, and I truly think these books get better and better. I read this very quickly. The short chapters really helped. There are some emotional moments and a theme of grief, but this only made me love these characters more. I definitely will be reading the next one! I would recommend this series if you are having trouble getting out of a slump or need a laugh. 5/5🌟 #thelastdeviltodie #richardosman #mysterybook #thursdaymurderclub #bookreview #mysteryread #bookstagramuk #readeveryday #fivestarread

** Book Mail ** Out July 4. There is a new upcoming novel by the author of the excellent Long, Bright River! A huge thanks to @harpercollinsuk for an e-ARC of God of the Woods. I’m really looking forward to reading this one! Publisher synopsis: When Barbara Van Laar is discovered missing from her summer camp bunk one morning in August 1975, it triggers a panicked, terrified search. Losing a camper is a horrific tragedy under any circumstances, but Barbara isn’t just any camper; she’s the daughter of the wealthy family that owns the camp—as well as the opulent nearby estate and most of the land in sight. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared in this Barbara’s older brother also went missing sixteen years ago, never to be found. How could this have happened yet again? Out of this gripping beginning, Liz Moore weaves a richly textured drama, both emotionally nuanced and propelled by a double-barreled mystery. Chasing down the layered secrets of the Van Laar family and the community working in its shadow, Moore’s multi-threaded drama brings readers into the hearts of characters whose lives are forever changed by this eventful summer. Liz Moore’s most ambitious and wide-reaching novel yet, The God of the Woods is a story of love, inheritance, identity, and second chances, a thrillingly layered drama about the tensions between a family and a community, and a history of secrets that will not let any of them go. #thegodofthewoods #lizmoore #harpercollinsuk #mysteryread #booksofig #anticipatedread

I really enjoy Sally Hepworth’s writing. She has a knack for hitting just the right now. And when she portrays motherhood? It’s like she’s right in the room with me, eating popcorn, watching the gong show. I thoroughly enjoyed The Mother-in-law - I find her novels in a bit of a grey zone in terms of genre - a bit of women’s fiction mixed with some mystery and suspense. Whatever it is, I’m here for it! This novel is made for a screen and I’d love to see an adaptation. #sallyhepworth #themotherinlaw #womensfiction #mystery #mysterythriller #mysteryread #vacationreads #works_sighted #australianauthor #igreads #bookrecommendations #australianauthor #instareads #authorlove

CASE HISTORIES by Kate Atkinson (2004) A well written crime novel featuring private detective Jackson Brodie as he investigates three separate cold cases, all linked in some way. This has more depth than most mysteries, with well imagined rich characters & dry humour which counterbalances the tragedies of the storylines. There are 5 books in the series so I look forward to spending more time with the complex & enigmatic Brodie. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Purchased @avenuebookstore - support independent book sellers! #casehistories #kateatkinson #bookstagram #bookreview #bookreviewer #aussiereaders #booknerd #mysteryread #jacksonbrodienovel #readersofinstagram

Happy Sunday bookworms and to all the mommas out there 🌸 Life has been so busy lately I've hardly had a chance to catch my breath but I am thankful for my little witchling making me a momma, even on the hard days 😅💕 --> Recommend a dark academia book in the comments! Or tell me what you have in your cup today if you don't read the genre 💕☕ Im recommending this book today for a dark academia read! Check out my review below 👇 . . 🌸 R E V I E W 🌸 Sade Hussain is starting at a new boarding school, but almost as soon as she starts, her roommate goes missing. What follows is a twisty mystery of uncovered secrets, dark deeds, and vengeance. I really enjoyed this! I hadn't read Ace of Spades so this was my first read from this author and I really appreciated their writing style and the overall tone of the book. It was tense and dark and kept me guessing until the very end. I did find one of the final reveals at the end unsatisfying which knocked off a star but otherwise a really solid boarding school mystery! I also loved the layering in of a mysterious alt POV and trying to figure out who it was! 🌟4/5🌟 Thank you @macmillan.audio and the author for sending me the Audiobook in exchange for an honest review. It's time for a quick re-read of The Likeness book 2 in The Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French. Moving through the ever growing #tbr pile. Still traumatised by her brush with a psychopath, Detective Cassie Maddox transfers out of the Murder squad and starts a relationship with fellow detective Sam O’Neill. When he calls her to the scene of his new case, she is shocked to find that the murdered girl is her double. What’s more, her ID shows she is Lexie Madison – the identity Cassie used, years ago, as an undercover detective. With no leads, no suspects and no clues to Lexie’s real identity, Cassie’s old boss spots the opportunity of a lifetime: send Cassie undercover in her place, to tempt the killer out of hiding to finish the job. #amreading #amweekending #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #bookaddict #bookaholic #bookhoarder #bookhunter #bookhunting #booklover #booknerd #bookseries #bookworm #crazybooklady #crimefiction #crimeseries #irishnoir #mystery #mysteryread #mysteryseries #seriesread #seriesreader #seriesreading #suspense #tanafrench #dublinmurdersquad #thelikeness

Speaking of... #throwbackreviews   What types of books are you ‘comfort’ reads? A solid mystery or detective series is always my go to when I need a palate cleanser.    Charlie Donlea’s books fit the ticket lately for me, and I’ve been reading some of my backlist and his upcoming May release in between fantasy, romance, and more contemporary fiction reads. I read both Those Empty Eyes and Long Time Gone last month and I finally sat down to write out my thoughts, so here are my #minireviews:    Those Empty Eyes: 100% a page turner that follows Alex Armstrong after she survived and then was accused of killing her family 10 years ago. Though she was never convicted in court, the public thinks she’s guilty. When her newest case bares a resembles to the murders of her family, she’s determined to figure out what happened. I devoured this book and loved the extra POVs we got. The ending was surprising and I binged this one in a night. Out now! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   Long Time Gone: A captivating thriller that has the perfect amount of suspense and plenty of clues. I really enjoyed the mixture of the past and present settings and Sloan and Sheriff Eric Stamos made a superb team. My only complaint and the reason for dropping a star, is I found it so hard to believe a doctor as smart as Sloan, in this day and age, had basically zero knowledge about genetic testing. I’m talking bare bones knowledge, even I know more than that having done a genetic test on my dog. But minus that one thing, this was another gripping thriller from Donlea. It definitely sounded as if he’s setup Sloan to have her own series, which I for one am excited for! Hitting shelves May 21st!  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️    Head to SPEAKINGOF.ORG for my full reviews. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 stars Four unlikely friends living in retirement village team up to form the Thursday Murder Club where they meet to discuss and investigate unsolved murders. When a murder occurs on their very doorstep, they step away from the cold cases and jump feet first into this investigation. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim each bring their own expertise to the group and together they are able to untangle the web of secrets surrounding the case. I had heard good things about this book and since I am such a cozy mystery fan, I figured this was right up my alley and it definitely was. I enjoyed this story from the first chapter and found it hard to stop listening to. I immediately was intrigued by the four main characters and their murder club and enjoyed seeing how this all unfolded. Joyce is the perfect ‘Watson’ in this scenario as she documents all of the goings on of the Thursday Murder Club and I connected with her the most. At times it was a little confusing as the story flipped from one POV to the next, but overall this was a great and well laid out mystery. I really liked this read and look forward to seeing what the Thursday Murder Club gets up to next! #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #mysterybooks #mystery #thursdaymurderclub #mysteryread #mysteryseries #cozymystery #booksbooksbooks

The Hunting Wives by May Cobb ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I thoroughly enjoyed this page turner! From the very beginning I fell in love with Sophie O’Neill, who is an all too relatable wife, mother, and woman who wants to be seen, fit in, and live that fairytale life. Sophie finds herself falling in to a clique with Jill, Callie, Tina, and Margot Banks herself… the ultimate IT girl in the small Texas town, and things seem to be falling into place to make her fantasy reality when the plot begins to thicken. Bad decisions, worse circumstances, and a dead body later— I found myself wanting to reach through the pages and shake some sense into Sophie. As her dream life begins to crumble, Sophie must piece together that awful night in an attempt to prove her innocence. She IS innocent, right? I believed 100% I had it figured out as the dreadful night unfolded, but I was actually totally wrong! This is a great thriller, and definitely worth the read! #botm #bookreview #maycobb #huntingwives #thriller #bookrecs #thrillerreads #bookrecommendations #psychologicalthriller #mysteryread #crimebooks #murdermystery #murdermysterybooks #tobd #currentread #readthis #reviewer #booksbooksbooks #weekendread #sundayfunday #sundayread #bookishmom #bookishfriends #mondaymadness #mondaymusings #mustreadmonday #lgbtqbooks

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo - Taylor Jenkins Reid 💚 I’m pretty sure most people have read this by now so I won’t bore you with a long and boring review but if you haven’t read this book yet, I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough!!! My secret Santa at work bought me this and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I think it’ll honestly just be classed as a timeless classic. The old Hollywood setting and the storyline is so unique. I genuinely felt like I actually knew the characters, which was weird! It’s a truthful, yet fictional storyline which really makes you realise just how far we’ve come from back then 🤍 It was so interesting how each and every one of Evelyn’s husbands has such a poignant impact and role to play in her life. It really makes you think about the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people! As I say, if you’ve not read it yet… it’s a MUST 💃🏼 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ tags #bookreviews #sevenhusbandsofevelynhugo #taylorjenkinsreid #history #oldhollywood #mystery #mysteryread #reading #reader #readerscommunity #thrillerreading #bookclub #thriller #mystery #reviewingbooks #booksofinstagram #bookreview #2024reads

The Small Museum by Jody Cooksley ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ NetGalley Review "What was to become of me in this house of nightmare?" A young woman named Maddie is thrown into the depths of marriage to Dr Lucius Everley to help restore her family name. Maddie feels alone far from her family with a husband who shows little affection or willingness to live a normal married life, a sister in law and household staff who show nothing but bitterness towards her. Maddie finds her husband is a collector of curios, which he keeps locked behind doors along with his medical work that he talks very little about. Unbeknown to Maddie there is a dark side to the home she lives in and will soon discover what her husband and sister in law are up to in the house of Everley. If this book isn't on your radar, it needs to be! This was truly haunting to read. Told from two perspectives, one being Maddies and the other from her friend Caroline Fairly who sits in the courtroom while Maddie is on trial for a crime she didn't commit. Filled with suspense, mystery, and manipulation. It's a book you don't want to pass up. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers @allisonandbusby for the digital copy. I’m late to the party with the fabulous book - The Maid. Written by Nita Prose it is a witty whodunnit filled with heart, mystery and humour. Molly the maid is invisible, which means she knows more than most what is going on in the Regency Grand Hotel. But Molly is thrown into the spotlight when she discovers an infamous guest, Mr Black dead in his bed. Molly is embroiled in a web of secrets and lies. Is she the only one who can see what others have missed? Not since Eleanor Oliphant has there been such a quirky and endearing character. This novel was a real winner for me. 🗡 The Inheritance Games Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌘🌑 I don’t usually read mysteries, but I think I need to pick up more now that I’ve read this book. I usually like characters that are the schemers themselves, and being able to feel like a mastermind, but there was something so intriguing about trying to solve the puzzle yourself. At every turn of this book, there was something unexpected happening, and I couldn’t tear myself away. I loved that this book had super short chapters, and so I was breezing through it! The mysterious aspect of the family and everyone trying to kill her made it that much more interesting. I still don’t really trust either of the brothers, and I also don’t see either of them as romantic interest (even though I am definitely leaning towards Grayson) because I felt so on edge around them the whole book. I couldn’t tell if they wanted the money and the legacy, or if they wanted Avery, and I think that’s the exact way the author wants you to feel, which just makes it that much more mind boggling. I can't wait to pick up the next book of this series! #inheritancegames #theinheritancegames #theinheritancegamesbook #mysteryread #mysteryreader📚 #mysterybook #mysterybooks #jenniferlynnbarnes #jenniferlynnbarnes #mysterynovel #mysterynovels

April Reading Wrap Up 🌼 💐💗🌸 • I managed to read four books in April and i have to say that i enjoyed every single one. My most surprising read of this month is the naturals, i heard so many good things and it definitely lived up to the hype, the pacing was amazing and so easy to read, and that plot twist...it left my mouth on the floor!!! • Here are my ratings for this month: • Powerless - 4⭐️ The Reappearance Of Rachel Price - 4.75⭐️ The Naturals - 4.75⭐️ Powerful - 4⭐️ • I did DNF one book this month, which was "To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods' by Molly X Chang, it wasn't because it was bad but because i could literally not get into it, too much worldbuilding for me it felt like i was reading it every single page. Might give it another chance in the future, not entirely sure yet. • I also apologise for my absence!! I really want to post more and be more active but it's the end of the school year for me and i'm just wrapping up all of my assignments, so close to be done😅

📖 READ CHRISTIE 2024 📖 Lord Edgware Dies is the 9th book in the Hercule Poirot series but can easily be read as a standalone mystery. It’s a whodunit with a murder victim no one seems to care for so there’s plenty of suspects to keep your eye on. Not my favorite Agatha Christie read as at times I found it slightly challenging to follow but some of that might be on me. Timing is everything and I read the book when my concentration wasn’t the best due to life stuff. She did keep things interesting as there were some surprises and as usual I was unable to solve the case on my own and had to wait until the big reveal. Poirot’s pal, Captain Hastings, is featured in this one and I really enjoyed their banter. 3.25⭐️ out of 5 QOTD: Do you set reading goals or participate in reading challenges?

A gripping journey through a maze of mystery. Christie’s meticulous attention to detail paints vivid pictures of each character and scene, making it easy to immerse oneself in the investigation alongside the legendary detective, Hercule Poirot. Book Review 📖 Five Survive by Holly Jackson ⭐️⭐️⭐️ One Rv 🛞 Six Friends 6️⃣ Eight Hours ⌛️ One sniper ❌️ I found this an entertaining read, but the suspense part of it wasn't there for me. The last 20% was when I found the book to really pick up. I enjoyed seeing into Reds mindset when she was thinking things through in certain situations. The characters are a mixed bunch, most of them likeable in a way, but one in particular, I will question why he classed himself as a 'friend'. Not Arthur, the other one 😒 The ending has left a big ❓️ #fivesurvive #hollyjackson #eighthourssixfriendsfivesurvive #bookreview #ebook #thrillerread #roadfiction #mysteryread #mystery #bookreader #reviewedthisbook #bookstagrammeruk #booksta #readandreview #justreadthis #finishedreading #ebookreview #ebookreader #ukreader #ukbookreviewer #ukbooksta #fivesurvivehollyjackson #fivesurvivebookreview

📚 Reading Challenge 2024 Week - 16 Book - Kill for me, kill for you Author - Steven Cavanagh One dark evening in New York City, two strangers meet by chance.Over drinks, Amanda and Wendy realise they have so much in common. And they both desperately want revenge against the two men who destroyed their families. Together, they have the perfect plan.If you kill for me, I'll kill for you... In another part of the city, Ruth is home alone when the beautiful brownstone she shares with her husband, Scott, is invaded. She’s attacked by a man with piercing blue eyes, who disappears into the night. Will she ever be able to feel safe again while the blue-eyed stranger is out there? We get the perspectives of detective Farrow who knows both women as well as Ruth's husband Scott. I really enjoyed knowing all the characters and learning how their lives and situations lead them that you start rooting for people you have no account with! I did feel the epilogue was rushed and didn't give the amount of satisfaction, but the story was well intricate and gripping and Steven did justice to the plot and lived upto the mark. #theindianreadingduo #killformekillforyou #stevencavanagh #crimethriller #mysteryread #suspencebook #week16 #tbb #52bookschallenge #52bookclub # #the52bookclubreadingchallenge #tbb_box

One Sentence Summary:Jason, a physicist turned college professor, is kidnapped and drugged and awakes in a strange place where his life seems to be entirely different from the one he remembers. ▪️ This book is a slight change in genre; to me, it felt more like a sci-fi fantasy than a thriller. It’s fascinating, and you get sucked in, seeing how Jason’s life could have turned out had he made one critical decision differently. The author has a nice way of explaining complicated ideas reasonably well, like how the multiverse works in the story. ▪️ Thank you @randomhouse for gifting me this book! ▪️ #randomhouse #partner #gifted #books #storiesandsuspects #mysterybook #mysteryread #thrillerbook #thrillerread #bookstagram #instabook #igbooks #ilovereading #bookhaul #bookhoarder #bookaddiction #bookstoread #whattoread #fortheloveofbooks #bookblogging #weekendreads #bookrecs #booknerdproblems #amreading #booksbooksbooks #booknerds #readallday #bookworms #bookreview #bookreviewers

𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 by Laura McHugh. Thanks to @randomhouse for the gifted Arc ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⁣ ⁣ Sisters Amelia and Kylee have been taken care of by their cousin Grace. She keeps them safe while their single and distant mother works, until one day she goes missing while babysitting. Now, teenagers themselves, they are desperate to leave their small town but want to find the truth about Grace. ⁣ ⁣ I loved this one! Dark and traumatic at many times, it is hopeful with the two sisters and the reliance they have on each other. There are some evil characters in the story, some truly generous and amazing characters, and some characters just playing the cards they were dealt. I will always love an amateur investigation story, especially with young adults trying to beat the odds of their past and future. ⁣ ⁣ “𝘍𝘰𝘭𝘬𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘸𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯.”⁣ ⁣ Safe and Sound comes out 4/23. ⁣ ⁣ Qotd: Did you have babysitters as a kid? 📖 BOOK MAIL MONDAY 📖 Hope everyone had a great weekend! I spent my time doing yard work, going on walks, eating at my favorite breakfast place, reading, and just relaxing in general. So for once I’m actually feeling refreshed on a Monday. My weekend kicked off in style when I received an advance reader’s copy of THE FINAL ACT OF JULIETTE WILLOUGHBY by Ellery Lloyd. Thank you @harperbooks, looking forward to reading it! Publisher synopsis: Some women can’t be painted out of history… A story of love and madness, of obsession and revenge. Paris, 1938 : Runaway heiress Juliette Willoughby perishes, with her married lover, in an accidental studio fire alongside her Surrealist masterpiece, Self Portrait as Sphinx. Cambridge, 1991 : Two art history students stumble across proof something sinister was at play in Juliette’s death, threatening to expose the long-buried secrets of the artist’s aristocratic family. Dubai, Now : An art dealer is accused of the brutal murder of his oldest friend – the last surviving member of the Willoughby dynasty. Three suspicious deaths over the course of a century. Is the key to unlocking them all hidden in Juliette Willoughby’s lost painting? Pub date: June 11, 2024 QOTD: Do you have a favorite artist or work of art? Or what is your favorite breakfast food?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 “The Quiet Tenant” -Clémence Michallon “Your life as a runner taught you skills. The key to a marathon: You do not think about the end. You do not picture the finish line. You keep moving. You exist in the present. The only way to do it: one stride at a time. It doesn’t have to be pretty. It certainly doesn’t have to be enjoyable. All that matters is that you are still alive at the end of it.” _____ 💭 𝗠𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦: This one quickly went from 5 stars, as an omg this is bone cold thrilling, page turning. Then as it progressed it finally dropped down to a 3.75 star for me. While yes, I very intrigued the entire time, it didn’t give the shock or wow factor. It almost felt like I was watching a lifetime movie drama, and we all know how those end. I felt like the ending was very rushed, and left me wanting to know more about the final event and afterlife. I would recommend it to someone who’s into these types of books and it might be great for you. I listened to the audiobook and I can generally tell right away if I’m going to be able to listen versus read the book myself. This book pulled me in right away! Krueger is a masterful writer weaving together all the stories of many different people in the little town of Jewel, Minnesota into a perfectly constructed mystery that will keep you guessing throughout. The story includes a Native American war hero who married a Japanese woman after WWII, which spotlights the prejudices faced by both group throughout history. In the small town of Jewel, Minnesota, the discovery of wealthy landowner Jimmy Quinn's body on Memorial Day sparks an investigation led by Sheriff Brody Dern, a war hero haunted by his past. Amidst swirling rumors implicating Native American WWII veteran Noah Bluestone, tensions rise, threatening to ignite further violence. As Brody races to uncover the truth behind Quinn's murder, the town's residents grapple with their own dark secrets and painful pasts, adding layers of complexity to the unfolding mystery. This is the type of book that will stick with you for a long time! There are definitely some trigger warnings present in this book, read with care. The Jazz Club Spy is historical fiction meets mystery/thriller-light. The book kicks off with some gruesome scenes from the main character’s past and then fast forwards to present day. Giddy is a cigarette girl who becomes a spy to help with a plot to save international relations in pre-WWII - motivated by personal reasons. I almost put the book down with the opening scenes, in fact I did and came back a month later, it picks up pace quickly and becomes quite interesting. I enjoyed learning about this part of Russian history and the immigrant experience. Generally, the book was enjoyable, I just had a few challenges with some of the wording and plausibility of certain elements. Read this if you love historical fiction but you’d like a faster pace and a different angle on WWII history. One Sentence Summary: Molly, the head maid at the Regency Grand Hotel, is reaching all her goals in life and at work when J. D. Grimthorpe, the famous author, dies at the hotel, and the detective thinks an employee of the hotel did it. ▪️ This story takes place three years after the previous book, The Maid, bringing back all the great characters. I enjoyed this book as much as the first one. I think that’s a great gauge, if you enjoyed the first book, you’ll enjoy this one! I loved learning about Molly’s past and life with her grandmother. There isn’t a huge twist, but it keeps you guessing who is guilty of the crime until the end. This book sets up where I think the next in the series will go, and I can’t say I’m too excited about that as the next chapter in Molly’s life. Still, I recommend this to all readers. A Journey of the Heart by Brenda Benning @brendabenningauthor Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Blurb: Lundyn Bell has returned to her grandparents’ farm after graduation to search for direction and next steps in her life. As she begins to question more about her life, Sally Jo—her best friend and conspiracy theorist—helps Lundyn find the answers to questions like who really is Lundyn’s father? When her mother passed away years ago, she thought it was an accident and never questioned it. However, her grandparents had always thought it was intentional and was linked to a past they feared talking about, a past Lundyn was not aware of.  As Lundyn tries to make sense of the past colliding with the present, she learns where she came from and secrets she may not have wanted to know. Danger seems to be around every corner. Is she in danger? And why does HE keep showing up? Will the mysteries ever end? Review: Great read! Mysterious hints are dropped fairly quickly. There are a few hints in the way things are said or done here and there. The whole thing unravels rather slowly, timeline-wise, although it felt realistic. It’s spread out in a way that keeps you curious but doesn’t give it all up at once. Because the timeline is spread out, I feel like you get a better sense of the characters day-to-day and get to know them really well. Especially the friendship between Sally Jo and Lundyn. I’m excited to read book 2 and see what adventure Sally Jo finds herself in. 📓 Mystery 📓 Friendship Love 📓 @fulton_books @lovebookstours  #Ad  #LBTCrew #Bookstagram  #FreeReview #freebookreview #booktour #mysteryread #sisterhoodfriendship #brendabenning #journeyoftheheart

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 “Good Bad Girl” -Alice Feeney “The only good thing about losing everything, is the freedom that comes with having nothing left to lose” _____ 📖 𝚂𝚢𝚗𝚘𝚙𝚜𝚒𝚜: Twenty years after a baby is stolen from a stroller, a woman is murdered in a care home. The two crimes are somehow linked, and a good bad girl may be the key to discovering the truth.

Edith may have been tricked into a nursing home, but at eighty-years-young, she’s planning her escape. Patience works there, cleaning messes and bonding with Edith, a kindred spirit. But Patience is lying to Edith about almost everything.

Edith’s own daughter, Clio, won’t speak to her. And someone new is about to knock on Clio’s door…and their intentions aren’t good.

With every reason to distrust each other, the women must solve a mystery with three suspects, two murders, and one victim. If they do, they might just find out what happened to the baby who disappeared, the mother who lost her, and the connections that bind them. _____ 💭 𝗠𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦: Okay this one was amazing. I loved the multiple POVS, it could be a bit confusing to keep up but eventually in the end it all came together. I had an idea of how it would pan out in the end, but the storyline leading up to the inevitable was page turning. I was left guessing who was good and who was bad but one thing that never changed, I loved Edith. My last book of March was The Brother’s Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This book took me way too long to get into. The storyline developed way too late. The ending was very good and definitely set up for a future book. I do think this book was kind of unnecessary with how The Final Gambit ended, but it was interesting to see povs from Jameson and Grayson. Wasn’t too excited with this read. 4.5⭐️ out of 5 What an absolutely lovely story! It’s part mystery but the heartfelt sentiment throughout is really what made the book for me. Clayton Stumper is 26 years old and is on the hunt for answers as to why he was left at birth on the steps of The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers. Pippa Allsbrook founded the group decades ago. It started off as a weekly meeting bringing together experts in such things as crosswords, codebreaking and other logic puzzles. Camaraderie developed which is why the members decided to live on a commune together where each one would create puzzles to sell to the general public. After the death of Pippa, the maternal figure in Clayton’s life, she leaves behind clues so he can finally uncover the mystery of his parentage. I truly adored this book and the cast of characters. A beautiful example of how people from all walks of life can become a family. This is a book to read when you need a bit of a pick me up and a reminder to keep your faith in humanity. Recommend to the fans of The Wishing Game or anyone in the mood for a heartwarming tale. Thank you @vintageanchorbooks for sending me an advance reader’s copy! Happy April! This has been a brutal winter with a toddler in day care brining home a new virus every week so i am so ready for spring (COME ON SUNNNN 🌞😎). It’s time for sun bathing, breathing through my nose, & reading by the pool 😂 and what’s better than a new book! I’ve got one for ya today that I read last month and loved! 🌟LISTEN FOR THE LIE HAS🌟 - MC with memory loss (“Did I do it?”) -> this trope doesn’t get old for me! - Podcast mystery -> I have been so into this subgenre lately! - Hometown trauma - Men believing other men rather than women (😤) - Women standing up for women - “The truth doesn’t matter” - I’ve got an idea, let’s kill your husband 😂👏 This basically summarizes why I enjoyed this book so much! The slow flashbacks were dealt out perfectly to keep up the tension and it had me guessing until the end 👀 thank you @macmillan.audio and the author for sending me an audio arc in exchange for a review! 🌟4/5🌟 It’s out now so go grab a copy! . . . 𝐁 𝐎 𝐎 𝐊 𝐑 𝐄 𝐕 𝐈 𝐄 𝐖 4.3/5⭐️ The Fury- Alex Michaelides 𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐈𝐒 A masterfully paced thriller about a reclusive ex–movie star and her famous friends whose spontaneous trip to a private Greek island is upended by a murder ― from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent Patient. This is a tale of murder. Or maybe that’s not quite true. At its heart, it’s a love story, isn’t it? Lana Farrar is a reclusive ex–movie star and one of the most famous women in the world. Every year, she invites her closest friends to escape the English weather and spend Easter on her idyllic private Greek island. I tell you this because you may think you know this story. You probably read about it at the time ― it caused a real stir in the tabloids, if you remember. It had all the necessary ingredients for a press a celebrity; a private island cut off by the wind…and a murder. We found ourselves trapped there overnight. Our old friendships concealed hatred and a desire for revenge. What followed was a game of cat and mouse ― a battle of wits, full of twists and turns, building to an unforgettable climax. The night ended in violence and death, as one of us was found murdered. But who am I? My name is Elliot Chase, and I’m going to tell you a story unlike any you’ve ever heard. 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒: The setting in this book and description of it is 10/10. I also had an added intrigue personally by some of the Greek references, being a Greek woman. This is my 3rd book by this author- Silent patient was iconic, I was not impressed really by the maidens, and I feel like this one fell in between the 2. The thing I did love about this book was the unique narrator situation. The fact that the narrator was responsible for telling us what happened while also being a player in the story definitely led for some unreliability and some extra untrustworthiness. Overall, not the best book I’ve read but was unique enough that it’s worth reading. #bookworm #bookish #bookblogger #bookgram #instareads #readmorebooks #bookstagrammers #goodreads #bookstagram #mysteryread #thriller

It’s a step above a cozy, and is Clue-esque in the sense that there are a variety of suspects and we have a fabulous old manor house as our setting. Red herrings abound! Two for Tuesday ✌️🐇🎲 (on April 2nd, no less!) My most recent read and my current read for this Tuesday! What Moves the Dead was a very quick little read that my STEM heart really enjoyed. My only criticism is that, for a book advertised as a horror, it wasn’t all that scary or chilling. Currently reading the fourth instalment in the Finlay Donovan series. These mysteries never fail me 🥸 👉Have you read any of these books? 🏷️ #twofortuesday #bookstagram #booksta #mystery #horror #finlaydonovan #mysteryread #mysterybook #mysteryreader #horrorbook #horrorread #currentread #currentlyreading #bookrecommendation #bookrec #bookrecs

✨Book Review of Veronica Ruiz Breaks the Bank✨ Review: ★★★★☆ 4/5 Ok ok I know I technically read these books out of order but NO ONE TOLD ME there was a Finlay Donovan Novella! I have no clue how I missed the memo on that one so yes - I am reading book 3.5 AFTER book 4.. But honestly it’s ok. I had no issue following book 4 without the background that book 3.5 gave Vero but it was nice to learn a bit more about Vero’s past. She is by far my favorite character in the Finlay Donovan series so I loved this quick little book about her. I wouldn’t mind another novella or book from her POV but I am sure we won’t get one 😢. I did audio on this book on @everand_us and since I am a psycho that listens at 2x+ speed, this novella only took me about an hour and a half tops to complete so it’s a fast read/listen if you are interested! I am excited to see where this silly series goes next. I am anxiously awaiting book #5! Keep ‘em coming @ellecosimano!! Do you like when series have novellas sprinkled throughout?! . . . #VeronicaRuizBreakstheBank #ElleCosimano #FinlayDonovan #FinlayDonovanSeries #mysterybook #mysteryseries #mysterybooks #mysterybookclub #mysteryreader #mysteryread #cozymystery #audiobook #bookreview #bookreviwer #bookrecommendation #bookish #kindle #kindlereader #kindlepaperwhite #everand
