Here are three tips that can help you take control of your food consumption. 1. Be mindful of the proper portion size, and balance of foods on your plate. Personally, I’m not someone who measures food that much. I “eye-ball” portions. However, I encourage my clients to measure at least once to get an accurate visual of what a tablespoon, a ¼ cup, or 1 cup looks like on the plate. Speaking of plates…Using a plate that corresponds to your child’s age is an easy way to approximate starter portions. You can use a salad plate for young children and elementary age kids. Use a dinner plate (10” diameter) for middle- and high-school kids. And for snacks, use a saucer for younger kids and a salad plate for older children. How easy is that?! One of my deficit diets: 🍓🥄 -Meal 1: 50g of oat meal (dry) with a cup of berries and a scoop of protein (it misses in the pic). -Meal 2: A spinach tortilla with 113g of chunk light tuna (a can) and a cup of papaya. -Meal 3: A scoop of protein and a cup of blueberries. -Meal 4: 120g of grilled chicken and 5 grilled sparragus. -Meal 5: 120g of ground beef with mixed vegetables. *Sometimes, I use drink water enhancer of any flavor 🍉 (last pic). And I drink at least one gallon of water a day 💦. This is one of my diets for cutting. Every time, I change the portions and food of my meals depending on my body goals and the phase where I am at. When you look at these containers I bet you think “they are just cute colored containers to store things in, what benefit do they have?” These containers are more than just containers! They are what helped me get started over 8 years ago to work on my nutritional habits, get me over the mental struggle thinking I needed to eat minimal to see results, learn to still enjoy my favorite treats and the biggest thing was that I developed a healthy relationship with food! I learned to collaborate my fitness routine with my nutritional routine. I learned what I needed to do to either lose weight, maintain weight as well as eating in a surplus to gain muscle! And trust me while these containers may look small to you, you actually get a lot of food! In all honesty it didn’t take long to start developing these habits and seeing the results. I did have struggles along the way mentally but it was a work in progress. I knew I would have good days and bad days but it was a learning process. I learn how to eat a balanced diet. They helped me to get all of my macronutrients in without having to count anything. I learned that if we were out or on vacation I could eye-ball and guesstimate my portions. I was GETTING RESULTS!!! I was leaning out, I was gaining strength, I was losing weight. Of all the things I have tried….this was actually working!!! AND I could still enjoy a treat and not punish myself with all the cardio! I even learned how to swap out for healthier alternatives or make my favorite dessert with a healthier alternative!! My nutritional routine is still a work in progress and I might be counting macros now to go along with my strength training program but I owe so much credit to these colored containers!! Sweetcorn and carrot fritters. I was going to have a tin of sardines with these but they turned out so big, I didn’t bother! I egg separated, 1 medium tin of seeetcorn, small grated carrot, seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 level tablespoon of flour (I used rye, but whatever you have should work). Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl except the egg white, whisk that and add to the well-combined mix. Carefully shape mounds into a well-oiled pan over a medium heat, gently shaping and flattening as you go, make as many as you want: two supersized ones ⬆️ or more smaller ones, you do you boo. Cook slow to avoid breaking, mine took 5 or 6 minutes aside. Allah said, "How is it, O People of the Book, that you command people to perform Al-Birr, which encompasses all types of righteousness, yet forget yourselves and do not heed what you call others to And you read Allah's Book (the Tawrah) and know what it promises to those who do not fulfill Allah's commandments. أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ (Have you then no sense) of what you are doing to yourselves, so that you might become aware of your slumber and restore your sight from blindness" The Children of Israel used to command people to obey Allah, fear Him and perform Al-Birr. Les portions . Quand on se lance dans un rééquilibrage alimentaire, on a plusieurs choix… à toi de choisir ce que tu préfères… Tu peux peser tes aliments ou bien tu peux utiliser tes mains ou une cuillère (au début tu pèseras mais après tu sauras combien de cuillère à soupe il te faut pour tel ou tel aliment) ▪︎ L’eau : un verre par repas ! Mais en moyenne 1,5L par jour (je reviendrai dessus dans un autre poste) ▪︎ Les légumes : c’est la + grosse partie de votre assiette (la moitié) ▪︎ Les fruits : 80 à 100g, ça correspond à peu près à un fruit ▪︎ Beurre/ huile : 10/15g ▪︎ Pain : si tu veux consommer du pain au cours de ton repas, réduit ta portion de féculents car le pain est un féculent également. (pain + autre féculent = portion globale) ▪︎ Protéines : attention la consommation de viande rouge ne doit pas dépasser 300G par semaine. Le poisson : il est conseillé d’en manger 2 fois par semaine Les protéines représentent ¼ de l’assiette ▪︎ Le fromage = 30g, le lait= 150ml, le yaourt= 125g . . NUTRITION LABELS what you need to know.. its easy to get caught up in macros/calories & this post is NOT for any purpose other than to educate where to look.. for snacks/treats PART 1 serving size- the numbers on each label are accurate for the determined serving size, not the entire container. Sometimes the servings can be as small as “1 piece”. In addition to, how many servings there are in total sugars- a huge thing with granolas, yogurts & protein bars especially is the sugar content. Some bars have upwards of 15-20g of sugar per serving. Some may be natural, but if you’re shooting for something healthier & high in protein, these sugars shouldnt really exceed 8g depending on the serving size protein- for protein bars, anything with less than 10-12g isn’t something I really reach for. The RDA for protein is 0.8g/kg of bodyweight which in most cases is upwards of 90-100g+ a day. The protein bar with 12g wont hurt, but one with 20-25g would be a better option to ensure adequate intake - ESPECIALLY if looking to “tone up” &/or get stronger Nutrition labels are complicated & searching for healthier options can be just as complicated without going crazy. These are suggestions to help you understand the nutritional value of certain foods. I did not touch on calories, because I don’t track them, I focus more on nutritional value. ❤️Transformation Tuesday❤️ First of all, I don't diet. If you diet, that means temporary, which most likely means you will fall back into your old habits! What i have come to realize is that FOOD is the most important. Eating smaller, lower calorie, high protein meals and snacks is the best for me. We all have day number one, and we have to start somewhere. It's important to know your own struggles and your temptations to be successful. Having meals, snacks, and most important sweet treats prepped and ready is life changing. When you are prepared, you will make better choices. My biggest struggle is the weekends!
