Every day, we’re sold a “new” and “easier” way toward our health goals. It’s exhausting—I get it. The actions that lead you toward living a healthier life are simple in theory but difficult to implement in the world we’ve found ourselves living in. Food abundance, convenience, and hyperconnectivity to the rest of the world’s opinions make it difficult to figure out what’s what. If you feel lost, I get it. If you feel exhausted, I get it. If you feel discouraged, I get it. No matter what someone tries to convince you of, nailing the basics on a daily/weekly basis works really well. → 6-8,000+ steps (daily movement) → Aim for 0.6-1g protein per lb → Focus on whole foods with each meal → Limit snacking on highly processed foods throughout the day → Replace sugary drinks with water → Strength train 2-3x per week → Get your heart rate up with an aerobic activity 1-2x per week As “boring” as these all sound, they work. And if done consistently, they will likely get you most of the way there. The more you justify behaviors, the more you will spin your wheels - Often these behaviors are based out of emotion - And sometimes we have to call ourselves out in order to make progress - It’s way easier to NOT do anything and continue to allow emotion to dictate what we do - Like, saying “I’m too full to eat my calories” when, you could eat your calories, you’re just afraid to - Because you’ve struggled SO long trying to lose weight eating far fewer calories, you can’t imagine being able to eat more and lose weight - So you continue to eat too few calories, eventually can’t do it anymore, and you end up going over your calories (especially on the weekends because you “deserve it”) a lot - Or when you workout hard 7 days/week because you “love it” but really it’s because you are afraid not to - You’re afraid that if you don’t work out that much you won’t make progress - Or you’ll get fat - Emotion will try and play tricks on you - But the more you practice having conversations with yourself and not allowing emotion to determine what you do - The more success you will have - We are all a work in progress - Stand up for yourself - Stop justifying behaviors - Never let emotion drive the car - Love You - #healthymindset #howtoloseweight #fitafter40 #fitafter50 #fitafter60 #fitnesshelp #fitnessafter50 #susanniebergallfitness

22 days to go🎯 It’s all coming round so fast now which is scary and exciting at the same time😅 I’ve got such a good weekend coming up which makes me so happy, tomorrow my whole day is going to be spent at high Wycombe for the third @revivefitness__ photoshoot which is just going to be the best day, these days just leave me feeling so grateful and full of love as it’s so incredible seeing some of my amazing clients in person and seeing them shine in front of the camera after all the hard work they’ve put in the past few months 🥹 And Sunday is my birthday yay, I’ve never been someone who gets excited about birthdays but so being in prep and not being able to properly celebrate really doesn’t bother me, I have basically 5 weeks left of prep and after that I can celebrate and enjoy lots of yummy food and drink. It is one birthday out of 24 and I chose to do this prep so not going to moan about it, taking everything in my stride and I’m truly loving the journey and everything it has taught me so far🫶🏻 I sent my coach my check in photos today as I check in twice a week and he replied with the BEST news. I actually cried when reading it which shows my emotions are clearly very heightened😅 but if you’ve been following along on my prep journey you’ll know how exciting this news is, not only is tomorrow and Sunday BOTH both high days with more carbs then my last high day but I also have the next 2 days off cardio just steps tomorrow as it’s a rest day and steps and training on Sunday. I can’t actually explain how much of a mental push this has given me, I’ve not had a day off cardio throughout this entire prep so to be having 2 high days on a really busy day tomorrow and then my birthday is just so good, really feels like all my hard work is paying off to be in this position now, final 5 week push lets go🎯 #bodybuilding #bikiniprep #bodybuilding #prep #cutting #mindset #fitnessmotivation #gymistherapy #fitnesshelp #gymstyle

You know the story: you're on track from Monday to Friday, exercising and eating healthily, but come the weekend you fall off the wagon a bit... For most of us, the odd treat here and there over the weekend isn't going to do too much damage. And besides, the odd doughnut, pizza or burger is good for the soul - right? The key is balance. Don't let your weekend food ruin your whole week. But if you do happen to slip-up, don’t let it get you down or make you think you might as well toss in the towel for this weekend and start again on Monday. Just make sure your next meal is a healthy one and keep on going. So enjoy your favourite foods in moderation, but keep your eye on the goal. The secret to a successful journey? Stop looking for the quick fixes and be willing to actually commit to yourself no matter how long it takes. When you commit to something your goals are always going to feel so far away, when I committed to a 20 week prep being stage lean seemed near to impossible but I refused to let my limiting beliefs or self doubt become a reality, I promised myself I’d show up everyday and put full trust into the process of my hard work, now being 3.5 weeks out I’m so glad I did. This is a mindset that I’ll take with me throughout life, patience and trust>instant gratification. To get the best results you want to form habits and a routine that you can sustain, even when you’ve achieved the goals you want. This doesn’t mean you need to stay in a calorie deficit all year round, once I finish prep I’ve been increasing my food and decreasing my output but I’ll still do cardio each week, get out for walks and prioritise nutrient dense whilst enjoying a balance as that’s what makes me feel my best. I used to be that person that tried every trend and quick fix as I didn’t want to put in the work I just wanted results as quick as possible but it never worked and that’s why I’m so passionate about helping you all to challenge tourney and view your fitness journey as a lifestyle change and not a 6 week thing. With anything you commit to, overtime the daily consistency adds up, no one wakes up over night and has lost a stone, it’s the small changes week in, week out that add up so instead of telling yourself you’ll never get there and giving up because you think what’s the point, instead say I will get there, you have to believe in yourself and your ability and that will push you through the harder days. Tuesday Session (Yesterday), Full Body C⁣ ⁣ A few training notes:⁣ ⁣ Keeping my leg press tempo static is a huge challenge. My rep target is high (20) and as I lift heavier, the temptation is to start moving through the reps faster. Why keep the reps on the slower side? Because it exposes my muscles to tons of mechanical tension and minimizes risk of injury. In other words, it’s great for muscle growth. (Yes, it’s hard as heck).⁣ ⁣ I’m doing the incline DB lateral raise superset with the DB overhead press both in my session C and in my session B. The superset is hitting my delts more effectively comparatively to most other delt exercises, so I’m opting to do it more often. The superset combo doesn’t feel very injurious to me, but very stimulative, so including it frequently in my program seems like a good plan. I’d rather perform an effective exercise more frequently than opt to do it less frequently with the addition of a less effective exercise instead. (Honestly, they make my delts feel like they’re going to melt off the bone lol).⁣ ⁣ The deficit barbell row with flexion is nuking my back. The added (controlled) flexion is allowing me to get a HUGE stretch on my lats and upper back, plus I’m getting extra stimulus for my spinal erectors. I’m not needing to lift very heavy with these and am making sure to keep the tempo super controlled. It’s hitting great.⁣ ⁣ The deficit push-ups with longer pauses have been a great way to get tons of stimulus for my chest, whilst minimizing stress on my joints (since I’m just using my body weight). My elbows and forearms get beat up quickly if I frequently lift within my 1-10 rep maxes when chest pressing. So, the inclusion of these higher rep, less join-taxing deficit push-ups are great for me in the context of my program.⁣ ⁣ Here’s what I did in the session:⁣ ⁣ Leg Press: 545 x 18, 17, 16, 15⁣ ⁣ Lat Pulldown (Medium Grip), 3-5 partials at the end of every set: 165 x 19, 15, 14⁣ ⁣ Incline DB Lateral Raise Superset W/ DB Overhead Press: 15/40 x 19/13, 15/12, 14/12, 14/11⁣ ⁣ Flexion Deficit BB Row: 115 x 13, 12, 12⁣ ⁣ Deficit Push-Up: BW x 21,17,15⁣ ⁣ #itstime

Often, clients ask me what their goal weight “should” be based solely on their height.⁣ ⁣ Or, some folks will take it upon themselves to assume that they have to reach a “healthy” BMI (<25).⁣ ⁣ While high levels of body fat, especially visceral fat, undoubtedly increase the risk for chronic disease,[PMID:37792133] determining your “ideal” body weight based on height or BMI alone is a recipe for frustration.⁣ ⁣ Various factors affect your “ideal” weight (i.e., the weight at which you’re healthy, happy, and can sustain). Genetics, frame size, muscularity, athletic goals, lifestyle factors, and metabolic markers (blood sugar/A1c, blood lipids, blood pressure, waist circumference, etc.) all play a role.⁣ ⁣ Beyond regular check-ups to ensure normal blood work and an adequate level of cardiovascular fitness and lean mass (i.e., regularly performing cardio and weight training), your “ideal” weight may largely come down to personal preference.⁣ ⁣ Some folks may prefer a leaner, more “aesthetic” physique and thus a lower weight relative to their height; this is fine so long as it’s sustainable and doesn’t lead to disordered behaviors that negatively affect physical or mental health.⁣ ⁣ Others may be less worried about being lean so long as their metabolic markers are within a normal range, they feel energized and strong, and they maintain a good subjective quality of life.⁣ ⁣ When I first started fitness, I assumed I needed to weigh 136 lbs as a 5’4” male (based on an ideal body weight equation). I didn’t realize that, due to my frame size, 136 lbs was too low for me - I looked like skin and bones and felt awful.⁣ ⁣ Don’t use an equation to determine what your EXACT body weight should be. HOW I TRACK MY FOOD ON VACATIONS! ⬇️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being a nutrition coach… I ALWAYS get asked about this and had multiple messages in my inbox from these past few days that were were away on the cruise. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, how do I track my food when on vacation? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s simple… I don’t. 🤷🏼‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now that doesn’t mean I eat like an asshole the entire time either, so keep reading. 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 
The point of tracking your food… is to LEARN about what your body needs, and proper portion sizes. It’s not meant to be done forever, and doesn’t need to be done all 365 days of the year in order to be helpful. The goal is intuitive eating but you literally can’t do that if you’ve never tracked before to learn HOW to eat.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 
I track my food on the ‘regular days’..and give myself the freedom to TRUST myself to not track my food on vacations and special occasions (holidays, events, etc). My definition of a vacation is different than weekend travel for work, or other events. Vacations happen a few times a year for us, so I intend to be fully present.

When not tracking, I still keep healthy eating habits in place. I still make sure every meal has protein, and use my best judgement to estimate portion sizes. I’m mindful of unnecessary snacking, and limit the super sugary drinks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Am I perfect on vacation? Nope.. but perfection isn’t the goal. That isn't 100% true.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You see... there is a huge difference between calories and food volume.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In fact, you can actually eat more and still lose fat. Let me explain...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You need a calorie deficit to lose fat. This is when you eat fewer calories than you burn over time depending on your activity level and daily energy needs to sustain weight.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’re making smart food choices you can eat a lot of food (in volume) without eating a lot of calories.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the left you see a double whopper cheese from Burger King. It has 938 calories. Even though there’s nothing wrong with a burger every now and then, this is not the food you wanna spend your calories on most of the time.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For the same amount of calories you can eat 10-12 eggs (right side). You wouldn’t eat that many eggs in a meal, not even in a day. You are probably overestimating how many calories you burn during exercise & underestimating how many calories you are consuming. If your goal is fat loss, flip the script. You should be focusing on energy consumption (70-80% of results come from here)… not just energy expenditure. Both are important factors to fat loss but often times I see way too much emphasis on how many calories people think they burn during workouts when really it’s only making up 5% of your total daily energy expenditure. To optimize the process of fat loss you really need to focus on your caloric intake and pair it with the appropriate amount of movement (walking and planned workouts) for the best short and long term results. Let’s be real our society is f*ked If you’re constantly listening to it I can I guarantee you 1 thing.. You’re not going to achieve the results you want. Our brains are influenced by those closest to us and the environment we live in! If your environment is telling you to stop exercising so much or that it’s okay to eat like 💩 then naturally you will listen! Do these as one workout or do them seperately but make sure you incorporate them in your workouts. These will make your entire trunk more stable and in control they work your deep core and will impact how you even move in your daily life. These are also a regular part of my workouts.
