Worthing half marathon. My second half marathon. Given I’ve spent the last 3 weeks telling myself I couldn’t do it, I can’t tell you how happy it made me feel crossing the line. I showed up for myself yesterday and ran it. And I cried as I crossed the line because these things are hard - mentally, as well as physically. Today was my cardio and core day. I didn’t make it to the gym. My energy was really low this morning, but I still did a 3 mile run in a little over 30 minutes and I did a 30 minute home core workout. It doesn’t matter what you do, just move your body. On a positive note I’ve run 10k tonight. However, it was the worst 10k I’ve run. My legs didn’t want to move - my calfs were like concrete. I cried twice. I’ve been out of action as I’ve had a nasty allergic reaction to some medication I was taking. Particularly bad timing as I also had a wedding at the weekend. Perhaps it was foolish to run as my body is still dealing with the reaction. 🤷‍♀️. Feeling a bit shit and sorry for myself. If you have bad habits that are blocking you from creating good habits, you have to make the conscience effort to disrupt your current behaviors and get going on creating new ones. No negotiating with yourself. “I’ll just skip a couple workouts” “I’ll just have half a donut before bed” “I’ll just have one drink”. These seemingly tiny decisions will start to add up and more excuses will start to seep in. So what are you supposed to do? - Start replacing these not so great habits with better ones
 - Be aware when these thoughts pop up and recognize the negotiation and think first before reacting.
 - You can get to the point where these thoughts just start passing right through you and you can forget about them and go about your day.
 - When you’ve created a new habit, connect it to another habit and so on.
 - You’ve got a handle on your nutrition…ok, now let’s get consistent with your workouts. You will start to string these things together and that’s when the badass in you starts to emerge.
 - Know that discomfort is part of the process. Too many people just want to quit when it gets uncomfortable or too hard.

Love yourself ? How do you do that? … Here’s what I try to practice .. I talk to myself the way I would speak to others with kindness and empathy I step away from things that hurt me and get busy setting boundaries. This can and often does change the entire landscape of people I surround myself with. I’ve learnt to disappoint others; if it makes room for what I think is best for me. I say no to what I don’t want to do and yes to things I’ve wanted to do but been too afraid to try. I stand up for myself, honour my promises to me and listen to my body. Anger, anxiety, sadness, thirst etc, are all me trying to tell me something. Remember an absence of self-love hurts. Building a relationship with oneself is so important. This was my July 2023 condition. I felt very optimal at 219lbs and will be on track to get below this by June. I am working towards 210lbs and around 10-12% BF levels. A few things I have learned through my 33 years of fitness and this journey of whole being is this: -Sustainable habit/s are key -It takes time to create these, be kind to yourself if you miss a days workout, a meal, cardio whatever. Forgive yourself and start again -Your habits will become part of your identity -To galvanize habits consistently create a cue, response and reward. Habit loops are essential. -Lastly enjoy the journey and trust the process. If you need a coach or trainer invest in your self it will cost you but it will cost you a lot more to have compromised health and have to battle disease. Think long term. When I started training at 17 I absolutely loved the feeling. It wasn’t to just look good at a bar or at a beach it was the bliss and effect that a hard intense training session produced.
