📚📚 REVIEW 📚📚 The Perfumist of Paris is the third installment following along in this Jaipur triology. This last book follows Radha, who is now 32 and settled in Paris with her husband and their two children. I absolutely loved the full circle of all these books, and to have the opportunity to learn more about Radha. I felt most connected to her story, as the storyline had me sucked in from the beginning. As per usual Alka Joshi’s ability to paint the landscape with her beautiful writing, showing the sights and sounds of both France and India. I loved that Radha is a perfumist, and this added a new dimension in my reading I had never experienced before, smell! Attempting to consider what these scents would smell like created a whole new layer, which I enjoyed immensly. I again enjoy the inner monologue of the characters, and the ability to also see returning characters from the last two books and see them beautifully interwoven together. I feel so humbled to have been on this journey with Lakshni, Malik and Radha. I feel very bittersweet to say goodbye to this series and know that my time with these characters are over. I can’t wait to read them all over again in the future and relive these wonderful stories. ✨✨Book Review✨✨ Hatchet Girls by Diana Rodriguez Wallach ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Brief Summary This story is set 100 years after the Borden Murders. This novel reimagines what a trial like that would look like today. When the parents of the richest family is murdered with an axe newcomer Vik is quickly blamed. It doesn’t help that we has found with an axe in his hand over the bodies. Tessa, Vik’s sister knows he could never do this so she sets out to prove his innocence. My Opinion: I loved this book and was one of my favorite reads so far. First I was a little obsessed with the the Borden murders and Lizzie Borden in Journey. So I had to read this I loved the retelling of how this would play out now in real life. I also loved the lore that was woven into the story. If you like a little bit of horror I would recommend this one. Because it’s a YA horror I feel like it wasn’t too scary. I loved Tessa’s characters and her loyalty for her brother. Happy Monday! How is everyone feeling today? More of a personal post today. I’m feeling the Monday blues, I am feeling very overwhelmed at the moment. I feel overwhelmed with trying to think up content ideas, my massive TBR is overwhelming me, all I want to do is sit and read but I feel like life is pretty overwhelming at the moment too. It feels like there’s loads going on and not enough time to do everything or organise things. I am definitely looking forward to the end of May when I have some time off work and we go away for a few days. How do you all deal with feeling overwhelmed? Any tips of advice for me?

🌸🌼 SUNDAY SHELFIE 🌼🌸 ○ What are your plans today? Are you chilling or busy? ○ We are chilling for the moat part. I have a couple of wash loads to do, need to prep some lunches for work tomorrow and have a tidy round - but other than that I will be reading!! This is the bookshelf in my living room, I had two but they were both three quarters full, so I unhauled some and condensed it to one, then rerranged it! I'm happy with this but my plan is to have this empty by the end of the year......or maybe use it for my keep books, that might be a good plan?! I finally finished The Warm Hands of Ghosts last night, it was a 4⭐️ read for me which I am disappointed by. I had high hopes for it and so wanted it to be a 5 star! I did enjoy it a lot but I have a feeling I missed a bit of the moral or the underlying story, it seemed dual layered to me....maybe it was just because I took so bloody long to read it. So yes, it's done and I will be adding it to my Vinted as it's such a pretty edition 🤩 I also started The Whistling last night so hoping to make dent in that today! Had a lovely day yesterday, @whatjodiereads was round which is always good! We had a mooch round a very small town and obviously visited The Works - I was so good and bought nothing. I'm starting my new job tomorrow, I feel a little nervous as I am starting from scratch again but I'm also really excited to get into a routine again. A book I wanted to start over the very moment I finished it: A River Enchanted. Honestly A Fire Endless too. That duology is top tier for me, the absolute goat. And there are actually plenty of books/duologies/series that I have wanted to reread in the past 6 months, I'm just not letting myself at the moment cause I have over 200 books on my tbr. The absolute anxiety I would feel while rereading a book knowing I'm wasting time I could be ticking that number down one by one isn't going to let me reread for now. 💌 Book review 💌 The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was great! The cover, stunning. The pink lettering, absolutely love it. As someone who loves the french language (I wish I was fluent), French culture, and really wants to visit Paris, along with loving mysteries and thrillers, this was 100% down my alley. I loved the atmosphere that was created, the secretive and hostile tenants and concierge, the weird apartment building, the mystery behind the disappearance of Ben. Learning the history of certain characters and slowly discovering the connections between everyone, trying to figure out who the culprit(s) was, who was trustworthy and who had a hidden agenda, there was so much going on, but it was well paced. It took a little while to really get into the meat and potatoes of the story, but it didn’t feel like it was dragging on and when all was revealed I definitely didn’t see it coming. This was for sure a very enjoyable read. Yet again Lucy Foley didn’t disappoint and I look forward to reading The Hunting Party in the future. ✨ book review ✨ in short i loved this, anything r. f. kuang writes i eat up and this was no exception, another 5⭐️ book imo! babel is a standalone dark academia novel and is told from the perspective of main character, Robin. in 1828, Robin lost his family to cholera and he was brought to london by Professor Lovell, in order to be trained in latin, ancient greek and chinese in preparation for his enrolment in Oxford university’s prestigious royal institute of translation. i think this was so beautifully written and so well researched. an interesting and unique story that explores the power of language and knowledge and its connection to racism, classism and power. the characters and their development throughout the story is so well done and I felt so genuinely connected to the characters that it left me emotionally devastated. this book is definitely not going to be everyone’s cup of tea but i absolutely adored it #tbrshelf #books #bookworm #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #whattoread #bookshelf #bookshelves #fivestarbooks #fivestarreads #rfkuang #babel #darkacademia #darkacademiabooks #darkacademiareads
📚 The Breakaway Review 📚 **CONTAINS SPOILERS** Ahhhh, I really wanted to love this book! I had this on my tbr shelf for the longest time, so when I finally pulled the number for this one, I was super excited. What I Liked: 🔹 The book revolves around the Empire State Trail. I had no idea this was a thing, so as soon as I started reading about it, I looked up bike tours for this trail...I would love to do it one day! 🔹Morgan - the teenage girl who was pregnant and had to figure out how she could terminate the pregnancy on this bike trip without having her mom, who she thought was pro-life, find out. I thought this part of the story was very powerful and very much relevant in the world we live in today. I also appreciated how many of the folks on the bike trip came to her aid when they knew she couldn’t rely on her mother. What I Didn’t Like: 🔹The fact that Abby cheated on her longterm boyfriend and NO ONE found an issue with it. Maybe it’s because I have personally been affected by cheating, but it was very triggering to read those chapters and see how easy it was for Abby to just hookup with a guy she barely knew on this bike trip. I know she was dealing with internal struggles on whether her current boyfriend was the one, but I personally don’t think cheating is ever excuseable. If you’re not happy in your relationship, then leave it. She also never really had a good reason as to why she wanted to be with Sebastian, other than he was attractive and had a good body. 🔹Abby, overall as a character, was very unlikeable. Sometimes color combinations just capture your attention and demand to be highlighted. Something Wilder ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Quick paced and easy read. It is a romance book set in the Wild West desert on a treasure hunt. It’s the annual boys trip for Leo (from New York) and his friends, Bradley and Walter. Bradley planned this year’s trip meaning when Leo pulled up to the “treasure hunt” he was in complete surprise to find ex girlfriend, Lily Wilder. Lily is the daughter of Duke Wilder, a famous treasure hunter. She makes her living by leading the guides for tourists and helping them find treasure (of things donated by the local community) through puzzles. As the group enters the desert things start to go horribly wrong but they’re soon faced with wondering is there actual treasure along a different path in as spoken about in Duke’s journals. Is it a legend or is there really something valuable out in the mazes of the canyon-lands

„Wenn du mich siehst“– Nicholas Sparks Bei Nicholas Sparks erwarte ich eigentlich immer eine sehr emotionale Liebesgeschichte. Auch wenn es die in diesem Buch natürlich auch gab, so war sie irgendwie doch nicht die Haupt-Geschichte. Die war vielmehr ein kleiner Thriller! Nicht, dass ich keine guten Thriller mögen würde… Ich bin wirklich ein riesengroßer Thrillerfan! Es war nur einfach nicht das, was ich erwartet habe. Und versteht mich nicht falsch… Das ist jetzt überhaupt nicht als Kritik gemeint, denn das Buch hat mir, gerade weil es so spannend war, richtig gut gefallen. Alleine das Cover finde ich hier sehr, sehr unpassend gewählt, denn es erinnert tatsächlich eher an eine schnulzige Liebesgeschichte, als an einen spannenden Thriller. Aber ich muss sagen, die Kombination aus spannendem Thriller, dramatischer Liebesgeschichte und Krimi hat mir sehr, sehr gut gefallen, weshalb ich das Buch wirklich weiterempfehlen kann. ✨✨Book Review✨✨ American Royalty by Tracey Livesay ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Brief Summary Dani “Duchess” Nelson and Prince Jameson meet in the romance novel. Dani is invited to preform at a charity event for the royal family and there she meets Prince Jameson who prefers to remove himself from the spotlight. the two have instant sparks but their romance isn’t accepted by her Royal Highness. My Opinion: This was cute story. However I felt like the plot was missing a little something and I’m not sure what I still loved it. But I will say it was mostly spice. If I’m being honest I didn’t really care for Prince Jameson something about him kinda bugged me and I felt like Dani was too good for him. I would recommend this book if you like spice with a little side of plot. This, I pursued as my service.” 📖 I took my time reading this one, and I’m so glad I did 🙂 Written over a span of seven years, Bruce Springsteen digs deep into his memory of decades spent as one of the most visible figures in the world of rock ‘n’ roll, and pours it all out across the pages of this memoir. If you’re a fan of his music, you’ll recognize the same depth and heart that have made his songs so iconic. It’s a memorable book 👏👏 📖 As he recounts the big moments that have stood out in his life, Springsteen doesn’t seem nearly as interested in the milestones themselves as he does in exploring what he felt in those instances, and why. He examines the light and the dark — his words about his troubled relationship with his father and the role every parent plays for their kids as either an ancestor or a ghost are especially poignant — and seems determined to give the reader as much access to his soul as possible. 📖 One of my favorite parts of this experience was listening to each respective album during the section in which Springsteen elaborates on it. It was so lovely to head back to South Star and meet some favourites from her previous book. Sarah is so loveable. She comes with her issues and that’s what I love so much. She is believable, real and it’s like watching and talking to one of your friends. I absolutely love Clare’s storytelling and her ability to paint such a beautiful landscape of regional Australia. My stand out will forever be Mabel.
