Thank you @prhaudio for the free audio of The Drift. My review is still 💯 % honest. I had tried to get through the book physically for months but after being unable too, I decided to pick up the audio. The narrations was a fun time. There are different narrators for all the POVs so it made it easier to follow. Onto the book. I felt like the book was slow and I was not enjoying myself. I didn’t really feel counted to any of the character or truly care about the situation they were facing. The book is slower paced and I found myself figuring things out before they occurred. Which isn’t always a negative but in this case I really wasn’t feeling it. Overall the setting and atmosphere of the book was quite creepy. I think if you enjoyed the Drift you will like Leech (and vice versa) -Both novels are set in isolated places -There is an air of mystery surrounding what is happening. The Drift by C. J. Tudor . . I do enjoy a C. J. Tudor book, last one being, The Burning Girls!! So when I saw she had brought a new one out, I knew I had to go and pick it up!! The layout of the story, I loved! I always find it interesting to have an insight on a few people telling the story! The start of this book, grabbed my attention quickly, and it continued into the middle of the book! There were some surprises in the story which I wasn't expecting either!! But sadly the ending really let this book down for me!! I felt like it was rushed and completely threw me of what could have been an amazing book! ✨ Book Review ✨ The Drift by @cjtudorauthor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve read 4 of CJ Tudor’s books so far and all of them make for fantastic reading. This one though…easily her best yet. 👌🏻 More than a thriller, but not quite a horror, this genuinely had my heart beating out of my chest a good few times. Three different points of view: Hannah, trapped on a crashed bus in a snowstorm; Meg, trapped in a stalled cable car, in a snowstorm (can you see a pattern?); Carter, ‘trapped’ in a questionable and out of his control situation at a science research retreat, you guessed it, in a snowstorm!! All three story lines fully held my interest, there was no weak link at all. The chapters were a couple of pages longer than I would have liked but, honestly, I’m clutching at straws for the bad points. This book was aaaallll good. Então imaginem qual o meu grau de satisfação quando me apercebo que este livro é sobre um apocalipse zombie!!! Pronto talvez esteja a exagerar um bocadinho 🤣🤣 Maaassss este livro conta uma história através de 3 personagens, Hannah que acorda num autocarro depois de este ter capotado num acidente e de ver que grande parte dos seus ocupantes morreu; Meg que acorda, depois de ter sido drogada, num teleférico encalhado a meio da linha com mais 5 estranhos (com tendência para morrerem sem grandes explicações 🙄) e Carter que está num resort de esqui isolado no cimo da montanha com companheiros em quem não confia e que de quem não sente falta. Todo este cenário já é dantesco, mas imaginem agora um vírus que se propaga de toda a maneira e feitio e que transforma as pessoas que lhe sobrevivem numa espécie de zombies… Todos estes personagens lutam contra um inimigo comum e procuram sobreviver num mundo que já não é o mesmo, e à medida que as histórias vão avançando percebemos que todos fazem parte de um puzzle tridimensional que vai encaixando. ❄️ Nămeții lui C.J. Tudor mi-aș fi dorit să-i străbat iarna, când vântul ar fi șuierat pe la ferestre, ar fi brodat flori de gheață pe geamuri și ar fi spintecat în două orice suflare. Pentru că volumul de cărți bune crește amețitor de la o zi la alta, înghesui titlurile pe rafturi și uit de ele. Sau le las multă vreme în coșul virtual de cumpărături. ❄️ Trebuie să recunosc faptul că m-am învârtit ceva vreme în jurul acestui roman. Este o graniță destul de conflictuală în sufletul meu. Îmi plac romanele diferite, care abordează teme neobișnuite (mă refer aici la romane apocaliptice, cum avem în acest caz, la distopii etc). Dar mă și tem de ele. Și cred că asta se datorează faptului că nu mă pot plasa în mijlocul acțiunii, nu pot vizualiza această viață, nu mă pot transpune în această realitate. ❄️ Din fericire, în romanul lui C.J. Tudor m-am pierdut și m-am transpus. Am simțit gerul mușcându-mă de obraz, pericolul, teama, mirosul morții și al minciunii. 🌨️𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐂.𝐉. 𝐓𝐮𝐝𝐨𝐫 - 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰🌨️ So, I’m not a man of my word, and after sitting with the story for nearly a week, I’ve decided to do a full review. For non-spoilers, this story follows three people, Hannah, Megan and Carter. With them all being isolated in one way another, and attempting to flee the dangers that surround them. Hannah in an overturned coach, Megan in a broken down Gondola and Carter in a mountain side retreat. What follows is a thriller with no thrills, more comedy that chills and a story that elisits more eye rolls than genuine interest. If you like funny, fast paced, nonsensical stories, that are nice pallet cleansers, this will be the story for you. But as a thriller, it really didn’t give what I was expecting, and for my first thriller novel, it’s only put me off picking up anymore in the future. ⭐️⭐️💫 (Spoilers ⬇️) This story was predictable! Very early on (50 pages in), I guessed correctly these three stories were told over different time periods. So when it was revealed that Carter was the throughline character in all stories, just under different names, it wasn’t a shock (alongside the blatant similar character descriptions and his convenient disfigurement in his own chapters). I did enjoy the fact the story was told during/post a global pandemic, but the whole whistlers (zombies knock off) element, I just found plain funny and not scary at all. All the characters were shallow and had no depth bar one defining character trait. Hannah being apathetic and hating her even more emotionless father. Megan with her dead daughter and mistrust of anyone religious, and Carter with his dead sister. The dialogue was comedic and felt like everyone was playing a caricature of themselves, with everyone filling a classic 80s horror film role. I definitely won’t be picking up any of C.J. Tudors other works, as the consensus is that this is one of her best. And for any future authors notice, don’t have the only scouse character in your story be a drug trafficker 😐. And think of more meaningful pros, than “the devil was an angel once”. Because it really doesn’t elicit the type of nuanced meaning you think it does.

It was suggested to me by @amy_reads_books_ She knows I’m more of a fantasy reader but she thought I might like it. She was correct. At first, it takes to while to understand what’s actually going on. I’m not really crazy about jumping perspectives a lot in books but this was handled well. I found myself flying through the second half of the book, needing to know what was going on in each storyline. The only thing that I didn’t like, was the amount of characters thrown at you in the beginning. I understand most of them were death fodder, but it was hard to keep track of who was who. @cjtudorauthor that twist at the end was something I wouldn’t have guessed in a million years. WOW. Tudor și nu pot să zic că a fost o carte foarte bună, dar pot zice că s-a citit ușor, că atmosfera apăsătoare te ține în priză și că modul cum scrie Tudor este absolut sublim. 🤍 Problema mea cu această carte nu a venit de la ea în sine, ci de la faptul că am citit cărți muuuult mai bune de la ea și automat mi-au ridicat mult așteptările. Așteptam cu sufletul la gură să văd ceea ce se mai întâmplă cu cei din povestea ei, inclusiv cu ea. Perspectiva ei mi s-a părut cea mai interesantă și alertă, pentru că s-au întâmplat niște lucruri destul de … dubioase. Pe aceeași lungime de undă și Meg, o fostă detectivă, a avut o poveste interesantă. A legat firele unei povești într-un mod foarte inteligent, descoperind adevărul. “Ai grijă în cine te încrezi. Diavolul a fost înger odată.” Despre Carter, ei bine, acesta are un parcurs împletit de enigme și pot spune doar că i-am apreciat determinarea, am empatizat cu el, dar am avut și momente în care i-am judecat abordările. Un personaj destul de bine conturat, care are o poveste cel puțin captivantă. Deși la început lucrurile nu par a se lega și totul arată dubios, de parca n-ar avea nicio direcție, într-un final toate se împletesc și misterul propriu-zis este dezvăluit. Acțiunea este alertă, autoarea are un stil fantastic de a scrie. O atmosferă de-a dreptul sinistră. Un peisaj de iarnă, care te bagă în sperieți, dându-ți fiori pe șira spinării. And everyone is SAVAGE. • review // I was liking this in the beginning…and then ended up not loving it. The twist was really good. But there were a lot of characters. And the violence was brutal and often, which I just wasn’t expecting. Also, the hygiene in the coach was so off-putting and unrealistic….they are terrified of being infected, but then wade around in dead bodies and blood and a dirty toilet, and then they just wipe it off and get on with their miserable day. The Drift by C.J. Tudor (book review) Brief Synopsis- Survival is murder . . . An overturned coach full of students. All of them are trapped. An isolated chalet full of friends. Soon they'll be enemies. A stranded cable car full of strangers. One of them is dead. Outside, a snowstorm rages. Inside each group, a killer lurks. But that's not their only problem. Why is no rescue coming? What are they trying to escape from? And who are the terrifying Whistlers? Review I read "The Drift" earlier in the year but like "The Housemaid" I didn't write a review. The reason for writing a review is due to recently reading "The Silent Patient" (there are reasons for why they feel similar but I won't over any reason in case it ruins either book for someone). My feelings while reading this book were slightly murky. Part of it was my problem of assuming the type of story based on the cover art and tagline without reading a synopsis. For a considerable length of time the story feels chaotic but then C.J. Tudor does skillfully tie up the threads to bring cohesion. While many people put this in the 'horror' genre I would class it more as thriller (but I do find horror to be a fairly subjective category). There is enough intrigue that kept me reading and did improve towards the end. "The Silent Patient" is a book that I can't see myself revisiting now I know the story and ending, "The Drift" is on the opposite end where I could see myself rereading now I know the story and enjoying it more. The next book is The Drift by C J Tudor, I finished this book on the 28/3/24 and also gave it 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. C J Tudor is one of my favourite authors and this has been on my TBR for a while so thought I would pick it up. I did really enjoy this book it was full of twists and turns like any of Tudors books and pretty much every chapter ended on a cliff hanger for the different characters which made me want to keep reading. I was a bit confused at first with the amount of names there was to each main character but also enjoyed the fact that Daniel/ Sean and Carter was also the same person with different names across the 3 main characters. Which I wasn't expecting. Hitting into a net so we could use prov1s on the GC Quad for the most accurate data. @titleistukireland @foresightsports Feel vs Real. Trying to feel like I’m hitting big low draws. Have also shifted the ball further forward which means path needs to feel extra hooky. Ball forward = path out. Writing this out, I’m thinking it reads quite complicated but important to understand the swing mechanics. On the course I’m just thinking low power draws. Love the feeling when a drill or move “clicks”. This one has taken a couple of lessons to get there but is feeling more natural. My recent bookish adventures 🌷 🎨 Popped into @rizzolibookstore last Monday to hear @ramietargoff and @merve__emre discuss SHAKESPEARE’S SISTERS. During that hour, I learned so much! Both women spoke so eloquently; it was a great way to kick off the week. 🍸 It’s no secret that I love @thedrift_mag . A couple weeks ago, I went to their latest launch and was sooo happy to get the two most recent issues. So far, I’ve really enjoyed @carogioiosa’s “The Wolfman” and David Schurman Wallace’s piece on “our historical fiction hang-ups.” 🐇 Last week, my mom came to town and we went to @themorganlibrary. Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail were all key parts of my childhood. It was so sweet to see the new Beatrix Potter exhibit—I definitely recommend checking it out. 🖤 Time to celebrate...TOUCH OF CHAOS is an instant #1 NYT bestseller! I worked on this book from start to finish and it’s been a wild ride. Major congrats to Scarlett St. Clair and the rest of the @read_bloom team!!! 🇬🇧 I found this wonderful piece on the London Book Fair, by @briannazimmerman_ , thanks to the Pub Lunch automat. I didn’t attend—and likely never will, production doesn’t go to these kinds of events—but her words made me feel like I was watching from the sidelines. 📚 Saturday afternoon, I escaped the rain (and flooding) in @symposiabookstore. This used bookstore in Hoboken is so cozy and has a great variety! Plus, my friend and I had a great conversation with the super-friendly cashier about Emily Henry adaptations, The Idea of You, and SJM. 🇰🇷 Yesterday, I was hanging around K-Town, so naturally I had to pop in @koryony. I could spend hours comparing US and international covers...and how cute are these Beatrix Potter books?!

I went into this completely blind and I am glad I did. This is basically three different locked room mysteries told by three different point of view. Trying to figure out how they were linked was my favorite part about reading this book. This was a solid 4 ⭐️ read for me until the bed. The last few chapters just let me down and made the book kind of anticlimactic for me. REVIEW: THE DRIFT BY C.J. TUDOR ❄️ “you’re either a good guy or a survivor. and the earth is full of dead good guys” i absolutely loved this one! i’ve not read a thriller in a while and this had me gripped, i finished it in two sittings! i found myself rooting for all of the characters in their own ways, and the plot twist was incredible! seeing the way the story came together genuinely made me gasp, and a little emotional at times. this is definitely one to pick up if you want an easy to read, addicitve post apocalyptic thriller! rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 / 5
THE FISH REPORT 16.03.2024 BUCKMINSTER 🐾🐾👣 Due to ongoing weather shenanigans, the East Midlands continues to struggle under floods and muds, and so in search of safer walking we opted to continue our 'Highways and Byways' series, this time heading for The Drift- an ancient track running along the border between Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, and now forming part of the Viking Way long distance footpath. 🐾🐾👣 Starting just outside the village of Buckminster right on the county border, we set off north on The Drift with all looking pretty promising - the sun was shining, the puddles were manageable, the only sounds were the birds in the hedges, and Fish was laughing and naughty jumping in and out of the water. It was a great start! Unfortunately it was short lived, and before long we were met with utter carnage- the byway had been completely churned up and destroyed into an impassible cratery sea of slimy deadly mud (swipe for pics). 🐾🐾👣 Still, it was a great training opportunity for Fish, and he did well with his "steady" and "wait" commands, and even responded well to the the rarely used but quite effective "Jesus Christ Fish if you pull me over I'm sending you back to Romania" command. He did me proud! 🐾🐾👣 After 2 hours we'd managed to pick our way over less than 4 miles, and it was time to abandon this route, however we then found a footpath leading off into a huge green field - the soggy ice cold grass proving irresistible for the boy, and much joyous wiggling on his back ensued. ✨Mini Book Reviews ✨ 💀The Girls Are Never Gone - This was overall a fun YA paranormal mystery story. I listened to the audiobook for this one, and I definitely recommend that format specifically for the podcast segments included where they have the music over the voice-over and everything. I really enjoyed that! I did find myself losing interest in the story by the second half of the book when it felt like we were kind of going through the motions a bit and the mystery at the center kind of became more and more convoluted. The author is brilliant at descriptive language and really conveying the creepy aesthetic of the estate. She really highlights the grime and decay of things which I loved reading about and really helped me to picture what the house and the lake on the property looked like. Overall, I was engaged enough to finish this one and could definitely see others really enjoying the pacing and mystery. 🌨️The Drift - I think I thought I was going to really love this one and instead feel a tad underwhelmed. The pacing was a bit all over the place for me, and I once again didn’t love the pandemic/virus setting of the story (which I realize is more of a me issue). What I did really enjoy about this one was the three different sections where we followed a different character (Hannah, Meg, and Carter) as they are each trying to handle a different apocalyptic scenario amidst the pandemic. Throughout the story I was trying to make connections between the three different storylines and was anxious to see how they all connected (I kind of guessed the twist at the halfway point but was still impressed with how the author tied it all together). I am definitely interested in reading more by this author even though I didn’t love this one. ❄️THE DRIFT by C.J. Tudor ❄️ Could. Not. Put. Down. Follows 3 groups of people stranded in different situations, after a snowstorm in a post apocalyptic world. Some bits seemed too close to home after the COVID pandemic, but perhaps that added to the thrill of it. Thoroughly enjoyed this and had no idea at all where it was headed. This would make a fab film/TV show, I was on the edge of my seat reading it, can't imagine how good it would be on screen. 🐰🐥 RECOMMEND A RECENT READ 🐥🐰 ○ Do you like books by CJ Tudor? Have you read any? ○ I am really torn by their books, I've read a few now and some I loved, some not so much - I felt like they were too much like Stephen King books and storylines, it just put me off. This one however, a solid 4🌟 from me. It was gritty and dark and addictive, I couldn't put it down! I'm so glad I gave it a chance..... I have another day of cleaning ahead today! I'm going to attack the hallway and porch area....give them a good going over 😊 I felt such a sense of satisfaction - as well as back ache 😂 - last night going to bed. As much as the room doesn't actually look much different, I can see the difference and I know it's been done so I'm happy! I'm going to read some of I Am Pilgrim first though, finish my coffee and then have a 20 min walk on my treadmill....get that done!! I'm loving this new routine - just need to make it all a bit earlier when I hopefully go back to work next week!!!
