Maybe I’m leaning more bias with every read, but she is a lit fic master. I really enjoyed the narration on the audiobook and I’m so happy with all the character development in this book. Side characters felt just as important as MCs. The Takeaway; this book is a beautiful reminder to love and value the blessings you have, but also that you’re allowed to question, change, and strive for more.

Fijn dat deze steeds herkenbaar blijven voor de kids, ze tekenen ze ondertussen zelfs al na! De Zoete Zusjes logeren bij Tante Taart is zoals verwacht een leuk, vrolijk, speels en grappig verhaal om samen heerlijk mee te giechelen. Het recept van de regenboogcupcakes is een leuk extraatje! 📚 RESEÑA 📚 El caballo y el muchacho - C. S. Lewis (Las crónicas de Narnia #3) SINOPSIS 🤓 Shasta y Bree son dos seres que se conocen en difíciles condiciones y deciden huir hacia el norte; en este desesperado viaje conocen a más criaturas que se unirán a ellos por distintos motivos. Durante esta aventura deberán enfrentar varias dificultades e intentar echar abajo cierta conspiración que se está gestando, por lo que se librará una despiadada batalla. OPINIÓN 👀 Un libro con una trama simple y muy ameno de leer, la historia no tiene mayor complejidad pero sin duda dan ganas de seguir leyendo, pues el autor es muy talentoso a la hora de crear personajes entrañables. Y es que el rol principal en esta obra recae sobre los dos personajes que le dan el título. Los Pevensie también aparecen en este libro, pero no tienen tanto protagonismo, cosa que no extrañé para nada, pues Shasta, Bree, Aravis y Hwin son un grupo que funciona excelente, con buenas interacciones y relaciones que van cambiando conforme a lo que van viviendo. La aventura narrada en este libro es bastante distinta a lo que vi en los anteriores, pues se independiza casi del todo del reino de Narnia. Lo que se mantiene es el tono de inocencia y moralidad que impregna las páginas de los dos libros anteriores, pues cada dificultad o error que comete algún personaje, es aprovechado para dejar alguna enseñanza. Al igual que en los libros anteriores, en El caballo y el muchacho podemos encontrar obvias referencias religiosas, pero me parecieron mejor llevadas, tal vez porque en este último el espíritu aventurero está más marcado.

📖ARC Book Review: You Know What You Did by K.T. Nguyen ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Claustrophobic, riveting and intense, K.T. Nguyen had me in the palm of her hand with You Know What You Did. From the well-written unreliable narrator to the thought-provoking theme, I was left reeling as Annie devolved into paranoia. After all, it extensively delved into the suffocating impact OCD had on Annie. At the same time, however, this led to a very long, slow burn for the first half of the book. Once I got to the last one hundred pages, though, I had to hold on for dear life as the foreboding thickened and my suspicions grew. As for the characters, I felt that many of them were, for the most part, morally gray. For that reason, they came across as more authentic since no one is entirely good or evil. Told via multiple timelines that crossed decades as well as hundreds of miles, it managed to craft a thorough backstory that had me connecting with Annie in a very real way. Sadly, though, this wasn’t true for any other individuals in this book, who all felt relatively superficial despite its in-depth look at mental health and the immigrant experience. Despite that, however, I was totally won over by the climax and conclusion. Fast-paced, thoroughly disturbing and complete with a hairpin twist, it took all of my assumptions and threw them aside. Perhaps more mystery or suspenseful drama than thriller, I still got wrapped up in this nail-biting plot right from the start. I mean, how can you not love an unreliable narrator that suspects that her mother isn’t really dead? That alone made me side-eye every interaction and character. All in all, despite its slow start, this taut, emotional tale hit just the right chord by the end. Rating of 4 stars. Thank you to @ktnguyen_author and #partner @duttonbooks for my #gifted copy. Mystic Flown tome 2 de Dana B. Chalys "Je ne veux pas ressembler à la majorité des adultes que j'ai connus. Je veux être capable de m'excuser quand j'ai tort, d'admettre quand je ne sais pas." J'avais tellement hâte de me lancer dans ce 2e tome 💙 J'ai tout aimé ou presque: d'abord je reste sur un coup de coeur concernant les personnages 💙 Sadge est un gars atypique qui va longtemps me rester en tête : j'ai adoré le retrouver et surtout le voir évoluer au fil des rencontres qu'il fait. Diba est tout aussi atypique et attachante: j'ai aimé son caractère fort et courageux. On retrouve aussi des créatures fantastiques qui ont une place presque aussi importante que les deux héros. Il y a plus de jeu politique dans ce 2e tome puisqu'on est vraiment au cœur des décisions du pays et j'ai aimé la façon dont nos deux héros jouent sur plusieurs tableaux pour essayer de s'en sortir. Malgré les 350 pages, il n'y a pas de temps morts: on navigue entre actions, réactions, échange et relation entre les personnages sans jamais s'ennuyer un instant. J'ai adoré le combat d'Arcanes: c'est le genre de scène que je verrai tout à fait sur un écran tout comme un autre combat 😉 J'ai aussi aimé en apprendre plus sur ce monde et découvrir l'origine de certaines choses auquelle je ne m'attendais pas du tout. J'ai juste un gros bémol : j'en veux encore 🥺 quand je suis arrivée à la dernière page, je me suis vraiment dit "non pas maintenant". Je voulais en savoir et en voir plus: je voudrais connaître Ysha, je voudrais en savoir plus sur le titre de ce 2e tome, je voudrais encore voir Sadge évoluer, je voudrais découvrir les Behaqwina et je voudrai bien d'autres choses dont je ne peux pas parler sans vous spoiler. Finally: It’s happy lovely #shelfiesunday again! ♥️ Heute mal mit etwas Erinnerungscharaktet, denn mittlerweile steckt das alles in Kartons, neben den Büchern tatsächlich auch die wundervolle Kerze meiner Lieben @naomihuber_ Das Wochenende war für mich bunt gemischt. Wie allgemein alles aktuell 😅 Wer meine Storys verfolgt kennt mein Auf und Ab mit der Fatigue und Belastungsintoleranz. Das WE war also geprägt von viel Schlaf und Erschöpfung aber auch einem wunderschönen Treffen der @stuttgarter.buechertraeume 🤍 Es war voll, es war laut, aber gefüllt mit vielen tollen Menschen, Gesprächen und Begegnungen! Die Wunschliste ist massiv gewachsen, was nicht zuletzt an den anwesenden Autor:innen oder auch Illustrator Thomas Hussung lag, aber dafür bin ich in der Buchhandlung brav gewesen und habe lediglich den Geburtstagsgutschein für ein zauberhaftes Meeresbuch eingetauscht. Das darf mich nun abends vor dem schlafen begleiten. Ansonsten werde ich heute noch „Beklaute Frauen“ von @heeyleonie beenden (Lest es!!! Tut es einfach!) Und dann warten da ja auch noch 2 Testleseprojekte, REs,… Verratet mir doch mal welche Bücher euch begleitet, beendet wurden oder neu eingezogen sind 🤍✨ Wie war euer Wochenende so? Was war das Highlight? I know a lot of people read audiobooks fastest and I can’t relate to that at all. I don't know what these books are made out of, but I'm *hooked*. I adored A Touch of Darkness, and devoured A Game of Fate. I'm reading these as a combination of ebooks and audio, which is great for making it work with my health right now, and Hades is absolutely *everything*. 🍃 current read 🍃 I am currently 50% through A Little Life. This book follows the life and friendship of 4 men living in New York City. This book requires a lot of self care while being read. This book is beautiful, heavy, traumatic, and devastating. And I know I still haven’t quite gotten to the “heaviest” parts of the story yet. I am taking this book slow. Some people warned me that this book was just trauma 🌽, but after reading half of it so far I think I can confidently say that’s not true. I think this is a book to read within your lifetime. ☁️Book Review☁️ 📖Granite Harbor By Peter Nichols 📣Pub Date: April 30, 2024 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 ——— ▪️Read this if you like: ▫️ritualistic murder in a small Maine town ▫️then/now timeline ▫️grisly & detailed ——— 💭My Thoughts This was a weird one!🫣 As a Mainer myself, I was immediately intrigued by this book; there’s lots of references to Maine throughout it, and it was fun seeing those. I do think it’s best to go in blind, as a pretty big plot point is revealed in the synopsis that doesn’t happen until the last 1/3 of the book (I did, however, remove the spoiler from the synopsis I’ve included on the 2nd slide, if you want to read it). The book kicks off with a murder, and though it was obvious to me who the killer was early on, I’d say this is less murder mystery, and more exploring how/why the murderer does what they do. This was a quick and bingeable read, and I found myself just as interested in the past timeline as I was in the present one. There’s times where things can get graphic and super weird, but I like that sort of thing in a book depending on how it’s handled, and it worked for me here. The last 1/4 gets pretty fast paced, and I was glued to my book to see how it all ended. Thank you @celadonbooks for the advance copy.
