Noodles 🍜 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This place has been on my list for AGES and I am so glad I finally went. It was so hard to choose what to have as the menu was so extensive but I knew we HAD to get the biangbiang noodles and then we picked our side dishes from the smell and look of the food being taken to other tables 👌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We went for: 🥩Biangbiang noodles (medium spice) with slow cooked beef, tomato, eggs sauce and chilli oil 🦆Murger with roast duck 🥟Grilled veg gyoza ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Their homemade noodles were absolutely delicious, I could have eaten multiple portions! I’ve never had a murger before and now I feel like I have some catching up to do, it was delicious so I highly recommend. If you have a cut, you expect it to heal, right? And for many of us we just allow it. No Neosporin. No bandaid even. The cut just heals. Every other symptom or dis-ease of the body is just the same. Everything effecting your gut, blood, heart, thyroid, pancreas, etc. It all is healing. Always. Unless…. We take that cut and keep slicing it on the same piece of paper. Or we keep ripping off the scab. Over and over again. Basically if we do anything to continue initiating the original wound or interfering with the completion of its healing process the symptom persists. Makes sense when we think of it in terms of a cut, right? But again….it is true for EVERY system of the body. So the call then is…..to evolve. To change your ways. To stop initiating or interfering with the healing process. How do we interfere? By continuing on in the same old thought patterns. The same old job. The same old relationship. Eating the same old foods. The same old habits of putting ourselves last. Or putting ourselves down. Or not expressing our emotions fully. The body is designed only for health and survival. So when symptoms in the body persist it’s not that the body is failing us….its that we are failing our bodies. By not changing. By not being willing to go inward and address the thing that needs changing. So will keep picking off that scab? Refusing to let that cut heal? Or….. Will we change our ways? It’s only ever: evolve or die (emotionally, spiritually OR physically). 🩷 You are health. Your body is healing. Always. Always.

So, why am I posting food swaps for a deficit and a surplus? What does this mean? Simply put, if you want to lose weight - you have to be in a calorie deficit. If you want to gain weight and muscle - you have to be in a calorie surplus. In a deficit, you will be hungrier and therefore want to increase volume to help curb hunger. In a surplus, you want more calorie dense food because believe it or not - it can be hard to eat in a surplus! So add these pasta options to your next grocery shop, depending on your goal!

Here are our recommendations for consuming carbs DURING your workout. ✅ 0-1hr don’t require carbs 🍌 1-2hrs: 30g/hr 🍊 2-3hours: 60g/hr 🍎 3+ hours: 90g/hr For intake of up to 60g/hr, most rapidly digested carlos will work For 90g/hr + you should try to use carb sources that combine the use of different gut transporters to help increase rate of digestion. I once tried going full keto on 10 tablespoons of coconut oil and my bum felt like a slip n slide for food. Carbohydrates are not an essential macronutrient for living. I could wrap this post up there realistically because it’s a fact. I could also state housing, money, and power aren’t essential for life. You can survive without them but they definitely make life more enjoyable. Context matters. Assuming you aren’t just here to live and survive, carbs have a vital role the more you wish to do physically. Even more so when that physical is met with higher intensities. People often argue you don’t need carbs for high performance and that you just need to become “fat adapted”. Or worse, you should pull carbs out for extended periods of time leading up to competition and then dump them back in. The performance falls apart and then carbs get blamed when in fact you’d just down regulated the enzymes needed to access the carbs effectively. Imagine having a savings account with all the money you need but you can’t access it. That’s the struggle your body is facing. So instead of thinking carbs are good or bad, or essential or not for life. Think about the context. If you spend most of your time sitting at a desk and occasionally walking to the letterbox, you don’t have a high need for carbs. If you want to run, jump, lift and grow a big ass, carbs are definitely essential to YOUR life context. We don’t know who needs to hear this but carbs are the GOAT. For energy. For performance. For cognitive function. For hormone balance. For deliciousness. Thanks to diet culture, carbs have been demonised, but we’re here to tell you why they should definitely be on the menu. Often, people say they’re doing a low or no carb diet, but they don’t realise that carbs aren’t just starchy foods and simple sugars like white bread and cakes. Carbs occur naturally in many foods, including grains, legumes, milk, fruits and vegetables. Yep, fruit and vegetables. 🥒 🍌🍊🥦 People tend to cut carbs to lose weight, but no-one ever gained weight from eating fruit and veg! In fact, there is little evidence linking carbs to weight gain. The key to weight loss is generally a calorie deficit, with meals combining a balance of protein, fat AND carbs. But there are healthy carbs, and not so healthy carbs. What's one piece of kitchen equipment or homeware that you felt you were REALLY indulging in, but which has ended up completely indispensable, lovely people? Or something that's maybe not indulgent, but also not *necessary*, but which you use all the time? Let me know below! I bought this ceramic loaf tin? Pot? Thingy? back in December or so, thinking I was really being over the top and calling it a Christmas present to myself. But I use it twice a week, every week, and now I've learned how to use it properly I don't even bother with parchment paper for my loaves, and they come out amazingly every time. Over restricting carbohydrates and meals that aren't balanced with adequate protein, fiber and healthy fats can lead to cravings. I've reviewed thousands of food logs over the last decade and the clients who were struggling with sugar cravings or always felt hungry, were trying to avoid carbs, their average protein intake was on the low end and their meals weren't balanced throughout the day. Carbohydrates are an energy source and when you over restrict carbs, your body may react to it by increasing cravings for carbs and sugar because it's looking for quick energy. So you can fix those pesky cravings by making sure you have balanced meals, more protein and are including more complex carbs into your diet. So technically, carbohydrate is non-essential. But that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to go without it! Sure, our bodies can survive without carbs, but that doesn’t change the fact that our bodies LOVE them. Carbs are very unique, in that they can provide a short-form AND long-form of energy and recovery. And many carbohydrate sources, like fruits and veggies, provide an abundance of vitamins and minerals that are easily digested and absorbed. Many carbohydrate sources also contain fiber, which our bodies technically can’t digest, but the bacteria in our digestive systems thrive on it and use it to produce a healthy digestive environment. Carbs play an important role in brain function, supporting concentration, memory, and overall cognitive performance. And in terms of exercise performance and recovery, carbs are OPTIMAL - there’s simply nothing else that will allow you to perform or recover to the same degree in their absence. Keto influencers and enthusiasts would have you believe that you should rid your diet of carbohydrate in order to lose weight, feel sharp, have more energy, and get the body you’ve always dreamed of. No, you’re not addicted to sugar or carbs. You’re not weak for enjoying ice cream, a cookie, or chips. The issue is the mindset around these foods and the amount that the average American eats these highly palatable, easy to over consume foods. - Think about it, if you were addicted to sugar, you’d be up in your kitchen eating pure sugar by the spoonful. You aren’t doing that. What is happening is you’re eating a combination of ingredients that makes the food (cookies, chips, ultra processed foods like convenience snacks) super easy to over consume because it tastes so dang good with very little nutrition (think protein and fiber) to help fill you up. You’re not addicted, it’s just easy to keep eating these things without feeling truly satisfied hunger wise. - There is NOTHING wrong with incorporating these foods in your diet. Cutting them out completely is a sure fire way to have an unsustainable fitness approach in most cases. If we place foods “off limits”, we crave them more. - So what we need to do is work on inclusion and not exclusion. Learn discipline and moderation. Set yourself up to succeed by having an environment that doesn’t tempt you to over consume these foods. I’ve also dealt with multiple injuries throughout my journey. Some that required surgery, other that didn’t. (ACL, & Achilles surgery, & a major pec tear) to name a few 😩 ❌ I tried no carbs (before it was called Keto) ❌ I tried fasted cardio ❌ I tried Intermittent Fasting You name it, I’ve probably Tried it I’ve built a terrible relationship with food due to so many restrictions in the past & learned how to not only get out of it but teach others how to do the same
 When I found out how simple fitness was, I literally wanted to share it with the world. I didn’t want anyone to feel frustrated, stuck, confused, or build a bad relationship with food like I did When I was building my business, It took me over 5 years to start actually building some consistent clientele. 💸During that time I spent my 401K from my previous employer (over $50,000) that went into my business, (and pay for rent & groceries). This put my back up against the wall & forced me to grow The one thing that stayed consistent throughout it all was my fitness 🙏🏽I now help people that were just like me, feeling frustrated, stuck, and thinking that nothing works for them to lose 20+ lbs with a sustainable approach to fat loss …All Online! 🙌🏽 So they can eat their carbs, not feel restricted, and see Amazing progress while doing it!
