📚 Book 17 📚 I started Diva knowing absolutely nothing about it other than the fact that it was written by Daisy Goodwin. I have loved everything that she has written. And Diva didn't disappoint! It's based on the opera diva Maria Callas and largely covered her love affair with Aristotle Onassis before he married Jackie Kennedy. I'd never heard of Maria Callas prior to reading this book, and I wanted to see how true any of this story was, but waited to research it until I finished reading the book so that nothing was spoiled for me. Now that I have finished it, I want to read something that covers Jackie Kennedy's side of the story during the time period. So good! #booksreadkp #booksreadkp2024 #bookstagram #bookobsessed #books #ilovetoread #read #booksmakemehappy #bookjunkie #readabook #bookreview #readmorebooks #somanybookssolittletime #somanybooks #kindle #diva #mariacallas #basedontrueevents #daisygoodwin #iwillreadanyofherbooks #historicalfiction #book17

Could you say no to this face? Nor could @headofzeus - I absolutely adore this stunning golden proof of Diva by Daisy Goodwin! “In the glittering and ruthlessly competitive world of opera, Maria Callas is known simply as la divina: the divine one. With her glorious voice, instinctive flair for the dramatic and striking beauty, she’s the toast of the grandest opera houses in the world. Yet her fame has been hard won: raised in Nazi-occupied Greece by a mother who mercilessly exploited her, Maria learned early in life how to protect herself. When she meets the fabulously rich shipping magnate, Aristotle Onassis, her isolation melts away. For the first time in her life, she believes she’s found a man who sees the woman rather than the legendary soprano. Desperately in love, Onassis introduces her to a life of unbelievable luxury, mixing with celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. And then, suddenly, it’s over. The international press announce that Onassis will marry the most famous woman in the world, former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, leaving Maria to pick up the pieces. In this remarkable novel, Daisy Goodwin brings to life a woman whose extraordinary talent, unremitting drive and natural chic made her a legend. But it was only in confronting the heartbreak of losing the man she loved that Maria Callas found her true voice.” #diva #daisygoodwin #ariafiction #headofzeus #positivebookpals #limitededitionproof #goldenbook #mariacallas #fridaybookmail #dogsandbooks #adpr #giftedproof

"The sun was warm but the wind was chill. Punoo vam hvala 💖. Kao što sam napisala ovaj je mjesec za mene bio dosta turbulentan i pun emocija, traženja posla i pripremanja za razna testiranje od kojih ni jedno nije urodilo plodom 😢🙈. Ali takav je život. Nekad nam ide, a nekad ne. Razmišljajući o tome odabrala sam knjige koji bi mi sigurno pomogle da misli skrenem na drugi put. 🎶⭐️🎶Diva🎶⭐️🎶 ~audiobook~ By Daisy Goodwin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I just loved this! Marie Callas was a famous Soprano that lived quite a life! I listened to this one on audiobook and it was so bingeable. Callas is connected through her fame as an opera singer as well as through her lover Aristotle Onassis to many important people of the 20th century. It was fascinating to read about all of the people and how she fit into the historical narrative. What a fascinating woman. ❓have you ever attended the opera? I actually have been privileged to see a dress rehearsal of an opera. A friend of the family was an opera singer and she has also worked for the Seattle Opera for her entire life. #justbooksbookstagram #divanovel #historicalfictionreads #daisygoodwin #aprilreads2024

❞ 🌹 DIVA 🌹 __✍🏻 𝚍𝚒 𝙳𝚊𝚒𝚜𝚢 𝙶𝚘𝚘𝚍𝚠𝚒𝚗 Ed. #sonzogno

Which diva-esque singer do you admire? 🎶 I’m on stage this week so thought it was appropriate to share a stagey book review. 🎭 Aisha and I went to the Diva Exhibition last week @vamuseum and loved it! Swipe to see photos! ✨ +++++ Book Review: Diva by @daisygeorgiatraill Although I started reading the physical copy of this book, I actually ended up listening to it so I could really soak up the atmosphere and I would recommend this to everyone, as it includes several bars of Maria singing, which really immerses you in her story. Maria Callas was quite a character; from a time when diva meant goddess, there’s no doubt that she lived up to her nickname (in all senses of the word). Goodwin is an excellent writer, managing to create a story that blends fact with fiction, whilst also weaving Maria’s stage presence with her real persona, ensuring that we get a balanced view of who she really was as well as the realities of a stage career. We see the glamorous parties, full of famous names dripping with diamonds, but we also see the love, passion and heartache she faces in her personal life. Even though she’s not particular likeable, you cannot help sympathising with Maria, especially her journey to get there, considering her childhood and all of the men who tried to control her. Each time she brushes shoulders with a well-known face, I found myself desperate to find out more about that person during that time; my American history is lacking so I had no idea Jackie Kennedy married Aristotle Onassis - that was a shocking reveal that sent me straight to Google! Although I liked where the story ended, it did feel a bit of a comedown and perhaps a little further on would have helped readers understand her a bit more, particularly the impact of her voice loss. A stunning fictionalised account of Maria Callas that will delight opera aficionados and novices alike. 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 Thanks to @headofzeus for my proof copy. 🕶️ Book • Review 🕶️ Diva by Daisy Goodwin Audiobook narrated by Lorelei King Pub Date: 01/23/24 Thank you to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for my gifted copy. Quote: 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘢, 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵...𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘭. Synopsis in comments. Review: I have read one other Daisy Goodwin novel prior to picking up this book. I was unsure if she was an author for me due to how bored I was while reading The American Heiress. I decided to give her another try to see if my opinion changed. Unfortunately, it did not. While the book is well written from a technical standpoint, I felt absolutely no connection to any of these characters. The long, drawn out descriptions of things actually took me out of the story. I was so bored that my mind would drift. I don’t think Goodwin is a bad writer by any means. Many readers love her work. I just don’t find that it isn’t for me. I need more of an emotional connection to the story than what Goodwin was able to provide. Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️ QOTD: Any weekend plans?

Diva By: Daisy Goodwin ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️😇 Diva: noun di•va ˈdē-və plural divas or dive an usually glamorous and successful female performer or personality. From the Latin word goddess. -Merriam-Webster dictionary. The word diva is often associated with one who has a flair for the dramatics. Someone who is not easy to please. Who always has to be the center of attention. But, diva also means goddess. Someone who is beautiful and successful. The best at what she does. And that my dear, is the epitome of the great Maria Callas. Maria Callas is and will always be the prima diva of opera. Maria was the definition of class. She radiated beauty. The voice of an angel who brought tears to even the toughest of men. Maria Callas was indeed a diva. But, to become a true diva. One must rise from the bottom. One must have tenacity. Because a diva isn’t born, she is made. Maria was raised in Nazi occupied Greece. That alone would make someone resilient. But, Maria also had a mother who exploited her voice at a young age for her own glory and wealth. A mother who was ruthless and cold. A mother who never offered an ounce of love or affection to a daughter who needed it, especially in such a dark time in history. But, with a mother like that, one is bound to be successful. And Maria was. Even today, Maria is the most successful female opera singer of all time. At the height of her fame, Maria was not happy though. She had her adoring fans. Endless work opportunities. Her name known world wide. But, Maria had married a man who was essentially just like her mother. A man who only seemed to care about her success and not her love. Lost in the monotony of performance after performance, Maria needed something to change. And that it did. Aristotle Onassis. Greek Shipping magnate who in the same sense is what one would think of as a male version of a diva. He is rich. He is highly successful. He exudes luxury. He demands the best of the best and he surrounds himself with the best of the best. He showers her with affection. He sees her for diva she is. But, what happens when two divas enter a tumultuous love affair? Find out which diva will reign supreme in this biographical fiction.

I know this is a fictional account of Maria Callas’s life, but my gosh it was hard to stop reading this one. It was absolutely fantastic. Full of excellent stories from the time period it was set in. I loved learning about Maria and in fact, looked her up after finishing the book. It’s a shame that so many people around her just used her for her voice. Her own husband stole money from her. Her friend was mean about her in the press. And her lover married someone else!! Argh! She wasn’t perfect, and her life was incredibly interesting. I would 100% recommend this and also - grab the audio. It is amazing!! A little late, but March was a busy book month! 1- “Villains are Destined to Die” was recommended by a co-worker. I enjoyed it, and have been enjoying my foray into graphic novels. 2- “Do Your Worst” by Rosie Danan was another co-worker recommendation and I went in with no expectations. I really enjoyed it and loved that the leading lady was plus sized and loved for it from the beginning. Throw in a curse and a Scottish castle and it was just a joy to read! 3- “The Inheritance Games” by Jennifer Lynn Barnes has been on my tbr for awhile. I was not disappointed and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. There were some delicious twists that I didn’t see coming and really enjoyed. 4- “Six Scorched Roses” by Carissa Broadbent was a much needed relief while I wait for “The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King”😍 It was different enough, but I can’t wait to see how it ties in! It was a beautiful love story and written so well! 5- “Diva” by Daisy Goodwin was as well written as I’ve come to expect from Goodwin! She has a way of telling a story about real people that make you want to know more about their lives!! 6- “The Forgotten and the Feared” by EC Garrett was a spicy Elf, Dragon, Fae story. I enjoyed the overall premise but to be honest, the spice moved into some beastiality vibes and I’m not sure I want to read the second if there will be more of the same. 7- “The Fates Hands Trilogy” by Lori Ameling was one I was really looking forward to and was sooo disappointed! ☹️ The writing felt choppy and the storyline felt undeveloped. There were so many times I though Ameling had an interesting take on the werewolf trope, but then those ideas were never developed fully. 8- “Weyward” by Emilia Hart was definitely picked up because of its cover🤷🏼‍♀️ I really enjoyed it! It could felt choppy jumping between 3 storylines, but the writing was fluid and i found myself falling in love with the three main characters! Will definitely be adding Emilia Hart to my list of authors to explore. Not pictured 9- “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens was a 24 hour read for me and I do think it was worth the hype!

#bookstagram #instabook #livres #livre #book #books #library #bibliotheque #victoria #queenvictoria #daisygoodwin #ilovebooks #booksaddict #bookstagrammers

📚 Book Feature 📚 Today's featured book is The American Heiress by @daisygeorgiatraill I read Victoria by Daisy Goodwin and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Little Monkey's Grandma donated this book to the library and she said it's for fans of Downtom Abbey. Synopsis (taken from Google books): Be careful what you wish for. Traveling abroad with her mother at the turn of the twentieth century to seek a titled husband, beautiful, vivacious Cora Cash, whose family mansion in Newport dwarfs the Vanderbilts', suddenly finds herself Duchess of Wareham, married to Ivo, the most eligible bachelor in England. Nothing is quite as it seems, however: Ivo is withdrawn and secretive, and the English social scene is full of traps and betrayals. Money, Cora soon learns, cannot buy everything, as she must decide what is truly worth the price in her life and her marriage. Witty, moving, and brilliantly entertaining, Cora's story marks the debut of a glorious storyteller who brings a fresh new spirit to the world of Edith Wharton and Henry James. The weather is supposed to turn bad this week, so grab this one now to snuggle down and read later! #littlefreelibrary #littlefreelibraryillinois #littlefreelibrarystewards #littlefreelibraryofinstagram #daisygoodwin #theamericanheiress

March Wrap Up - Happy Easter, Happy Clocks Going Forward, Happy Last Day of March. This month started very slowly because it took me a long time to get through Emma by Jane Austen which I expected to love but really didn't (sorry Emma fans) and then I was on a Tandem Readalong (great book, Diva by Daisy Goodwin - massively recommend) so I'd only read 2 books by the middle of the month. Luckily, an evening at The Barbican watching the magnificent Taylor Jenkins Reid speak was extremely motivating, as was some quality time with @readwithsabs and @busbysbooks - feeling restored, I went on to read 7 books in the latter half of March. A bit of a mixed bag though as you'll see from the star ratings. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Carrie Soto is Back The Muse ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Diva Piglet Spring ⭐⭐⭐ Emma The Household How To Kill Men and Get Away With It ⭐⭐ Sylvia's Second Act #marchwrapup #bookstagram #carriesotoisback #taylorjenkinsreid #themuse #jessieburton #diva #daisygoodwin #piglet #lottiehazell #spring #alismith

🕊✨️🤍 #post #libridaleggere #bookblogger #booklover #booklife #instabook #livethelittlethings #leggere #momentimagici #casadolcecasa #homesweethome #fragole #daisygoodwin #feltrinelli

Book redesign of a wonderful historical fiction ‘Diva’ by New York Times bestselling author Daisy Goodwin @daisygeorgiatraill "Diva" is an enticing story set in the 1950’s that narrates the scandalous love affair between the world's most renowned opera singer and one of the wealthiest men in the world. The story shows us the human side of celebrities by making us feel Maria’s pain and longing throughout the novel. #bookcommunity #bookcover #bookcoverdesign #daisygoodwin #bookdesign #booknerd #bookdesigner #artistoninsta #authorcommunity #bookshelf #novel #historicalfiction #fiction #headofzeus #bloomsbury

AD/PR PRODUCT 📚 BOOK REVIEW In the glittering and ruthlessly competitive world of Opera, Maria Callas is known simply as la divina, the divine one. With her glorious voice, instinctive flair for the dramatic and striking beauty she is the toast of the grandest opera houses in the world. When she meets Aristotle Onassis, she feels for the first time in her life that he sees the woman rather than the legendary soprano.  Diva is the fictional account of Maria Callas's life when she was at the top of the game in her professional life but as I learnt her personal life left a lot to be desired. I have heard of Maria Callas but I had not known her involvement with Aristotle Onassis and especially that this was just before his relationship with Jackie Kennedy. Their relationship is at the core of this story but it is no sweeping fairytale as it would be classed as a toxic relationship by today's standards. The author does endear Maria to the reader especially compared to the odious Onassis however she still shows Callas' unlikeable side too. She is the epitome of a diva and always put herself first but then she always had to look out for number one since a young age so maybe it is understandable. Within the book Callas quotes 'I am a real nightingale not a mechanical one' and this was in terms of the many demands by both the public and those close to her. She was determined to not be classed as entertainment for all and sundry, she was an artist who had to protect her god given talent at all costs. I was absolutely enthralled with this story which made me google both during and after reading to see what was true and what wasn't. Diva is a perfect harmony of fact and fiction and if I could give a standing ovation to a book I would with this! Thank you @midascampaigns for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.  #booklove #bookreview #bookrecommendation #divabook #daisygoodwin #mariacallas #aristotleonassis #opera #thekennedys #fiftiesamerica #fictionalaccount #historicalfiction #bookflatlay #bookreviewer #booksofinstagram #readersofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #uptoolatereading

Ad-PR Diva by Daisy Goodwin is about the life of opera singer Maria Callas. Known as La Divina, Maria Callas became the greatest opera singer and a huge star. However, she worked hard for her career, grew up in occupied Greece during the war and battled with her image. When she meets Aristotle Onassis, she feels like she has met her soulmate. He introduces her to an even more glittering world of glamour and royalty, entertaining from his famous yacht the Christina. Only a few years later, Maria is devastated when he marries Jacqueline Kennedy and the world she has made with him falls apart. This book is the story of the woman behind the diva. By the end you will feel like you know her and everything about her story. I was completely absorbed in this book and couldn’t put it down. I also loved all of the details about the opera and background to the rehearsals. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you @georginamooreauthor and @ariafiction for sending me a copy. I had the pleasure of receiving a beautiful hardcover book as a gift from the publisher @stmartinspress back in January. After suggesting it to my book club for this month’s pick I decided to not only read that copy but to supplement it with an audiobook. The narrator, @loreleikingofficial , did a beautiful narration of this fictionalized account of Maria Callas’ life primarily focused on her relationship with Aristotle Onassis before, during, and after he married Jackie. The audiobook has interwoven sound clips of her performance so grab your headphones and take a listen, and let’s discuss your thoughts on this book. On a sidenote, Angelina Jolie will be starring in an upcoming movie adaptation of this famous singer at the end of this year to celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday. Maria Callas, known as "la divina" in the glamorous and fiercely competitive realm of opera, is a renowned figure. With her magnificent voice, natural talent for dramatic expression, and striking beauty, she has become a celebrated icon in the world's most prestigious opera houses. However, her path to success was strewn with challenges, as she grew up in war-torn Greece under the relentless exploitation of her mother. This early adversity taught Maria the vital skill of self-preservation. The resounding applause she received on stage filled her with a comforting warmth, washing away her fears. In those moments, she transcended her vulnerable self and transformed into Callas, the esteemed la Divina, capable of captivating even the most critical audience. There was an indescribable power in the applause, an unparalleled feeling of love that she could not find elsewhere. It became the strongest form of affection she had ever experienced in her life. However, Maria's isolation dissipated when she encountered Aristotle Onassis, a fabulously wealthy shipping magnate. For the first time, she believed she had found a man who saw her for who she truly was, beyond the realms of her legendary soprano persona. Consumed by love, Onassis introduced her to a world of unimaginable luxury, where she rubbed shoulders with luminaries like Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Early on, Maria had learned that the world cared little for her well-being as Maria herself, but rather for Callas, the revered diva. Only one man had truly perceived her as a woman, recognizing her beyond her divine vocal abilities.  And then, abruptly, it all came crashing down. The international media announced that Onassis would marry the most famous woman in the world—former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy—leaving Maria shattered and forcing her to gather the fragments of her life. In this exceptional piece of literature, author Daisy Goodwin masterfully brings to life a woman whose extraordinary talent, unyielding determination, and innate elegance rendered her a legend.

Jeli vas barem zaintrigirala s ovom predivnom naslovnicom? 💛 . . . . . . . . . . . #bookstagram #bookstagramcroatia #victoria #daisygoodwin #novel #reviews #recommendation #bookrecommendation #bookreview #lovestory #queenvictoria #booklover #bookstagramhrvatska #bookstagrammer #reading #read #readmore #recenzijaknjiga #recenziranje #mozaikknjiga

I can say without any reservation, that I absolutely LOVED this book! 💖💖💖💖💖 Being half Greek (Cypriot) and an opera singer, Callas has always held a huge fascination for me…..her not always beautiful but always powerful voice, her phenomenal acting skills, fiery temperament and total immersion in every character, whether through opera or concert performances, captivated and enthralled audiences from the moment she first stepped onto the stage. She was a true force of nature, and here #daisygoodwin refutes totally the mythology that her life and talent collapsed when she was ostensibly left for another woman. With every performance a personal battle, this was another she fought and won. I literally inhaled this book, and adored the deft character strokes used by the author to give us a very human and vulnerable Callas, a woman whose total belief in her talent was just waiting for an all consuming love to give it unadulterated passion. An absolute must read imho. #bookstagram #mariacallas #opera #operasingersofinstagram #books #reading #bookworm #passion #performing #singing #thearts #theatre #bookworm

Diva: Book review and Happy Publication Week! 🥳🎉 Diva by Daisy Goodwin Daisy Goodwin clearly understands how to tell a story. This one has all the elements of an enjoyable read: a hero who is at once sympathetic, endearing and yet infuriating, dual timeline narrative, the snippets of glittering celebrity life and a love affair. All this is set around the world of opera because, of course, Maria Callas was a sublime operatic talent and is still the best-selling opera singer of all time. But this is no biography, nor does it paint Callas as a tragic hero as others have before. Goodwin resists any mythologising of her subject as a tragic figure, ruined by a man's rejection and life's blows. The true joy of this book is Goodwin's depiction of Callas as a warrior, succeeding at life, as she succeeds as a wonderful and divine singer. I'm glad I read this book - I enjoyed it a lot and learnt lots when reading it about this astonishingly talented and remarkable woman. AD-PR Product • Book 12/75 What better way to read a novel about a famous opera singer/diva than with a cool glass of rose?😉 Thank you to @tandemcollectiveuk @headofzeus and @daisygeorgiatraill for having me on this readalong and for sending over a copy of Diva. Where to start? Diva is a semi fictionalised version of the life of Maria Callas, a Greek American Opera Soprano who fell under the spell of Aristotle Onassis. This book tells the story of their relationship. This isn’t a happy story, but a tentatively hopeful one I found. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, more than I thought I would considering it’s not my ~usual~ genre of reading. But there’s something so captivating about Daisy’s writing and how Maria comes to life on the page. I will say, not very much happens in the story - there’s no battles, fighting or anything of that nature. But that works for this story, it’s very much centred on the characters and we are watching their lives slowly unfold, derail or find new purpose. It sometimes feels a little like the reader is sat with their nose pressed against the characters living room windows watching their lives🙈 Daisy creates characters that are so full of life, believable and at times frustrating - without turning these historical figures into caricatures of themselves as I’ve often found fiction based on fact can do. A slow but unputdownable book filled with glitz, glamour and more grit than you’d expect! 💎 BOOK REVIEW 💎 📚 11 / 70 📄 Paperback 📖 Diva - @daisygeorgiatraill ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 💭 Thoughts I can’t believe I had never heard of Maria Callas before, I did however recognise some of the songs she sang so beautifully. I was absolutely fascinated by this book and her life. Her life story was so well written and the language throughout was beautiful, and the author took the time to write about each person so throughly, which really helped me to understand and connect with them throughout the book. I spent a lot of time googling different events throughout the book, although this is listed as a historical fiction, the majority of the book is parallel and accurate to her true life, which made it all the more interesting and enjoyable to read. The only criticism I have is that some of the chapters were quite long, and I’m a short chapter girly.. but this did not take away from my enjoyment. Maria is such a strong, fierce woman and a force of nature, although there were a lot of times where she showed her vulnerable side. Tita and Ari (Onassis) were both equally disgusting people, Maria deserved so much better. Bruna was the only person with Maria’s best interests at heart really. Overall, I think everyone needs to know who Maria Callas is, and I can’t think of a better book to tell her life’s story. Daisy Goodwin has done a phenomenal job with this book. Thank you so much to @tandemcollectiveuk for allowing me to be apart of this amazing readalong! Diva was officially released yesterday so go grab a copy! 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗮 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗻 🥂✨     4/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  Pages: 319      AD-PR PRODUCT      Huge thank you to @tandemcollectiveuk for having me on this readalong of Diva by Daisy Goodwin. Yesterday was publication day to this stunner of a book! Congratulations @daisygeorgiatraill 🥳    Diva follows the story of Maria Callas, who is a very talented and famous opera singer, with her husband Tita as her manager, but she feels he is all about her voice and doesn’t really care for just ‘Maria.’ Then she meets the rich and Greek Aristotle Onassis and she believes only then has she found her true other half in life. The strong and beautiful Maria is then taken on a journey with her new love interest, and what a journey it turns out to be!      I personally hadn’t heard of Maria Callas before (oops!) but after reading some of the other girls’ reviews also on the Tandem Readalong, it seems I am not the only one. I am now fascinated by her life and this story was just a perfect way to be introduced to Maria. I loved how each character was carefully developed in the book. I felt like as a reader I really got to know each of the main characters equally.       I found the second half of the book an easier and more enjoyable read as I really got drawn into the story. During the first half I was a little confused as to where the story was going to go, but then the second half really picked up. It was also just beautifully written.       If you are looking for an enjoyable historical fiction read, then this is the one for you!           - 🏷️   #bookstagram #tandemreadalong #diva #divareadalong #daisygoodwin #daisygoodwindiva #tandemcollective #readalong #mariacallas #booklover #bookreview #bookstagrammer #bookrecommendations #headofzeus #tandemcollectiveuk #readingtime #readmorebooks

Happy publication day to Diva! ✨ AD/PR 📚: Diva by @daisygeorgiatraill 💫: 4 ✏️: Diva follows the life of sensational Maria Callas. An exceptional talent in the opera house, but personally, someone who has always had other take advantage of her, be that her mother, husband or Ari Onassis. The novel is very character-driven, with Maria, Ari and Tita leading the way. The theme throughout is one of, who really is Maria Callas? A force of nature on the stage, but someone who can’t see how poorly people treat her in her private life. I did get frustrated that she couldn’t see how badly Ari, Tita and Elsa treated her, but shout out to Bruna who has Maria’s back throughout. 🫶 It was an easy read and an enjoyable one. I was hooked with the second half, desperately hoping that everything would work out for Maria and she’d end up happy. You’ll have to read it to find out! #divareadalong #TandemReadalong #daisygoodwin #bookreccomendation #mariacallas #diva #fiction #proof #readthis #goodreads #publicationday #bookreview #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #paperback #bookreccomendation #champagneproblems #bookworm #booksbooksbooks #readmore

~ Book Review ~ Diva ~ @daisygeorgiatraill Wow. What can I say about this book?! I love, love, loved it. If I did star reviews I'd give it 5/5! I knew nothing about Maria Callas before I started but I've been down a rabbit hole since chapter 1! The book is rich and colourful and looks to get behind the 'Diva' to who Callas was, and I think it does this really well. Daisy Goodwin takes a woman who was portreyed as very one dimensional in the press, and makes her multilayered and complex, and into someone I immediately want to be friends with! She is strong, knows her own mind, and pursues her passion with precision. We could all learn a lot from her. The clothes and setting are impeccably described, making you feel as though you're there (and if its your thing, there are SO many photos online that you can trawl through), and it adds to the rich tapestry of the book. The story itself is true, and heartbreaking, I was hooked from the very start. Its a classic tale, almost a greek tragedy? Of a woman in a mans world, who is trying to do whats best for her, with noone else truly understanding or supporting her. Oh, and the chemistry between Callas and Onassis JUMPS off the page! Not easy to write but its compelling and fascinating. Ad-pr product Definitely read this book!! And tell me what you think below! #divareadalong #mariacallas #tandemcollective #daisygoodwin #opera #tabloidpress #greektragedy

AD|PR PRODUCT Happy Publication Day to 'Diva' by Daisy Goodwin! I was lucky enough to join the @tandemcollectiveuk readalong and receive this limited edition interactive proof copy. I really enjoyed this fictional exploration of the private life of famous operatic diva Maria Callas. If you think you don't know her, search for her music and you'll find it instantly recognisable. The story acts as an antidote to her infamous divaesque behaviour, immediately putting you on her side as you discover she was heartlessly thrown over by her true love Aristotle Onassis for the widowed First Lady Jackie Kennedy. The timeline then rewinds to set the scene more fully and show the woman, Maria, behind the public mask. If you loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo then you'll love the glitter and glamour of this book. Brava @daisygeorgiatraill and thanks to @headofzeus for this special copy. #publicationday #diva #daisygoodwin #headofzeus #tandemcollectiveuk #tandemreadalong #happypublicationday #newbooks #newrelease #outtoday

Audio Book Review (gifted): @daisygeorgiatraill’s ‘Diva’ is a novel about music, love, desire, and betrayal in the life of Maria Callas, the legendary mid-20th-century soprano. At the height of her reputation, Maria meets Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, and falls in love for the first time. What follows is a plot worthy of an opera, with conflicting passions, jealousy, and self-sacrifice. I’m a huge fan of biographical fiction as a way to bring stories to life and make them memorable by focusing on emotional impact rather than chronicling events, so I requested to review this though I’m woefully un-musical and knew very little about Maria Callas (and the 20th century is not where I usually hang out). Daisy Goodwin has created a super-slick dramatisation of Callas’s biography. It’s not as emotionally immersive as some fictionalised biographies, rather it feels like a beautifully glossy modern epic: the descriptions of couture clothing, yachts, penthouses, and parties are so glamorous I felt at times I was flicking through Vogue or Hello!, but there are also bass notes of far older Greek epics. I was particularly impressed by the way the physicality of singing and Callas’s monumental discipline and dedication comes across. It’s given me even more respect for those who make music look so effortless. This physicality really sharpens the conflict between Maria’s love for her art and her desire for Onassis. If anyone needs me for the next few days, I’ll be listening to the playlist that accompanies the book, and applying sweeping 1960s eye-liner. And actually writing an essay. ‘Diva’ is published today (14 March). Thanks to @Netgalley and @headofzeus for the audio-ARC.

🎶AD PR PRODUCT🎶 I was so pleased that @tandemcollectiveuk asked me to be part of their readalong for @daisygeorgiatraill’s new book, Diva. I’ve grown up listening to Maria Callas’ voice on records, but knew next to nothing about her actual life. This is a wonderful novel: moving, emotional and sad. Goodwin writes with attention to detail but doesn’t lose any excitement because of it. You can see the amount of work that has gone into understanding Maria’s world, and the demands of opera. This is a beautiful book that has made me fall back in love with opera. I loved the playlist that was curated so I could listen alongside my reading. I can definitely see this becoming a tv series or a film. Thank you so much to @tandemcollectiveuk for asking me to do this readalong. Diva is out tomorrow, 14th March with @headofzeus. #books #reading #igbooks #igreader #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #booksofinstagram #instabook #instaread #bookworm #bookish #bookreview #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookrecommendation #Diva #DivaReadalong #TandemCollective #TandemCollectiveReadalong #HeadofZeus #fiction #histfic #DaisyGoodwin #MariaCallas

Ad-pr product @tandemcollectiveuk @headofzeus @daisygeorgiatraill Day 5 Chapter 17- end This book is released 14th March 2024 Book review: Summary- In the glittering and ruthlessly competitive world of opera, Maria Callas is known simply as la divina: the divine one. This book has been brilliant. I’ve loved it. I knew very little about Maria Callas but quickly found I recognised her voice and the beautiful opera songs she had recorded. I loved the celebrity world surrounding Maria but also learning about her family relationships. I cannot wait to see who Daisy Goodwin focuses on on her next book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #diva #divareadalong #daisygoodwin #mariacallas #opera #newrelease #bookreview #marchreads #gifted
