I know, I know: left to your own devices you'd only lift and you'd be happy with it. Apart from the embarassment of wheezing while walking up a flight of stairs, getting out of breath when playing with your kids, or, you know, keeling over from otherwise preventable heart disease, there are lots of reasons to inject some more cardio into your routine - *particularly* if you plan on taking plenty more rides on the Gain Train. I'm especially a fan of Zone 2 cardio, which is cardio done at roughly 60-70% of your age-related maximum heart rate (take 220 and subtract your age from it - that's your theoretical max heart rate). Some of the benefits include: 1. Builds your aerobic base for faster recovery from hard training 2. Increases capillarisation of the muscles, which bring more oxygen and nutrients to your muscles 3. Increase in mitochondria in your cells (and you already know from science class that they are the power house of the cell) 4. Increase heart/lung efficiency in taking in oxygen 5. Less exhausting than HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) There are loads of ways to do it - from brisk walking to cycling to swimming to rucking and tons of stuff in between. You don't have to love it, and you sure as hell don't have to replace your lifting with cardio alone, but if you're leaving out cardio completely, you're leaving out gains - and that just won't do. ... und da war es wieder! ✨ Das Knistern in der Luft und das Gänsehautgefühl -kurz vor der Prüfung- am zweiten Tag der RKC B-Lizenz Zertifizierung. Dann das überwältigende Glücksgefühl und der Gesichtsausdruck der Kandidaten wenn sie den Test geschafft haben. Natürlich auch Enttäuschung und Frust, wenn man es um Haaresbreite nicht geschafft hat. Jeder ehemals ausgebildete RKC Instruktor kennt diese Situation vom sagenumwobenen Snatchtest. Eins kann ich euch an dieser Stelle versichern! Um den 120er Test im Rahmen der RKC B-Lizenz Zertifizierung ist die selbe Aufregung und die selben Emotionen zugegen wie nach früherem Ausbildungssystem. Der „120er Test“ hat es definitiv in sich, meiner Meinung nach schwerer als der Snatchtest, ist aber mit der richtigen Strategie in der individuellen Vorbereitung definitiv leistbar. Das hat auch das vergangene Wochenende wieder gezeigt. Der RKC 120 Test besteht aus 20 zweihändigen Swings, 10/10 einhändigen Swings, 10/10 Cleans, 10/10 Snatch, 10/10 Frontsquats, 10/10 Military Press jeweils nach RKC Standard, mit Snachsize Kettlebellgewicht und innerhalb 5 Minuten. Hier einige Fragestellungen, die dir in deiner individuellen Vorbereitung helfen können: • Wie ist mein Status quo bzw. wo liegen meine Defizite? • Was muss ich konkret tun, um das Delta zu schließen? • Was ist mein Snatchsize Kettlebellgewicht? • Wieviel Zeit nimmt die Vorbereitung in Anspruch? • Wer kann mir helfen bzw. mich unterstützen? Du suchst Antworten auf diese Fragen? Ich kann dir gerne weiterhelfen. Schreib mir einfach eine Nachricht! Passade på att köra ett litet kettlebellpass på balkongen idag. Det är ju sylördag på lördag och missar då gruppträningen med KNAK-gänget. Idag körde jag en del teknikträning som t ex turkish get up (utan vikt) och windmill. Avslutade det hela med 100 st swingar med den gula kulan på 16 kg. Day 27 of 28 StoryAthlete GRIT Round 55 - 1539 Days of GRIT - COMPLETED StoryAthlete Principle: “I Become What I Practice Purposefully” “What do you want to be, when you grow up?” — Probably every kid in the world, has been asked this question. Now looking back, what *did* you want to be, when you grew up? Are you that person now? I know when I was growing up, I didn’t really know what I wanted to be. More often than not, I knew what I -didn’t- want to be! One of those things, was “committed”. Back then, and leading up to much of my adulthood, I did not want to be “committed” to Anything! It was a “bad word”. Like “discipline” and “accountability”. And so, because of that, I never practiced being “committed” to anything. In fact, whatever I was interested in, it was with ‘hap-hazard’ and ‘meh’ effort. I actually became what I practiced purposefully, “meh” commitment to pretty much anything! In fact, I’ve probably been not-committed to anything and everything, for 90%+ of my life! It’s only been in the last 4-5 years or so, that I’ve been practicing purposefully, being “disciplined, accountable, and committed” to anything. Writing, working-out, doing 100 buprees, video-selfies, meditation... all that. I feel as if I’m only just *starting out* in life again, right now! Today, I still have a ways to go, but at the very least, I’m now practicing purposefully, being committed, accountable, and disciplined about the endeavors I put my mind to! Here’s to another 90%+ of my life, being all that and more!
