Don’t you love when a book takes you totally and completely by surprise?! I think that was my favorite part of The Whisper Network by @chandlerbakerbooks . SO MANY books that discuss office har4assment discuss in a way that doesn’t give the power back to the victims… but this story does. Not only did I really enjoy the sense of justice in the end - but I enjoyed that the women weren’t exactly all likable characters. I’m fact I disliked some of them - but they still got justice. It’s interesting when a book has you rooting for a villain!

📚 March reading 📚 Reading was a tad slow in March but I read this March pick from @reesesbookclub. Mainly set in France during World War Two this book was a balance between gentle and hard hitting. I kind of downloaded this book on a whim as it is the @reesesbookclub pick for August - and what a thriller! Told from the perspective of Emily, who is finding it hard after an event that occurred whilst on holiday with her friend Kristen in Cambodia; she is hoping a trip to Chile might help her heal and forget - until disaster strikes there, too. Emily begins to examine events and starts to wonder - is there more to Kristen than she’s telling her? This is a fab thriller - it definitely had you fearing for some of the characters at times! It was also really refreshing for a book like this to have both of the main protagonists as female characters, as I personally feel they could so easily have been men. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

They wanted a better life, away from civil war and social unrest. They set their sights on America and get there using a temporary visa. However, being undocumented in America came with its own risks and dangers. The writing flows in such an easy to read style, Keeping me turning the pages of their story and finding myself completely absorbed. My heart ached for the characters. ***Review*** I absolutely loved this book! It took me a little time to get into it at first, but once I did I was so invested in Kya’s story. She was known in the small town as the Marsh-girl, abandoned by her family as a child she is left to fend for herself on the marsh land where her family home is. It’s a coming of age meets murder mystery when the body of a local boy is found, the locals immediately suspect the so called marsh-girl. Just when Kya though she could have a normal life her life is turned upside down in the most unthinkable way. 4/5stars The book is currently being made into a movie and Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-Jones is playing Kya. It is to be realeased some time this year I believe. 🌹🎧The Alice Network by Kate Quinn🎧🌹 . . . Let me start by saying this book had everything I love about historical fiction! There is nothing I love more than strong female characters, and this book had two! Also loved the sprinkles of romance throughout (swooning over Finn after this for sure)! But I also love the messages within the story about breaking the mold, friendship, love, determination and justice! One small aspect that I absolutely loved was relating flowers and the strength and resilience of multiple characters. I apparently enjoy flowers as symbolism in novels, one of my faves of the year so far (The Grace Year) had the same thing going for it! This was a lovely book and I think anyone who enjoyed The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah would also love this one! And the narration for the audiobook was very enjoyable! . . . This beautiful historical fiction novel is told on two time lines—One following a Eve, a female spy that was recruited to be a part of the real-life Alice Network in France during the First World War, and the other time line follows Charlie, a young lady who would not be considered your typical American socialite searching out her missing cousin in the aftermath of WWII. These two characters are brought together by chance and help each other find answers they are both looking for. Along the way we see the courage and strength this budding friendship will bring them both. A story of a quest to find truth and to overcome fear, desperation and longing through some tumultuous war times. This has been on my #tbr for sooo long, and to be honest, I wish I’d read it sooner! For some reason, I thought it would be American, so (ever the lover of the UK thriller), I was pretty happy to discover it’s set in England 😅 When Emily meets Adam it all seems too good to be true, and it starts to look like that might be the case when she meets his mother, Pammie. But as with all thrillers, is everything as it seems? This was a really easy read, that created a real sense of unease. I felt that there was a lot of drama in a short space of time towards the end of the book, but I liked how it ended. For fans of K.L.Slater and Karen Hamilton - this books fits the genre perfectly. ⭐️Book Review⭐️ The Last House Guest by @meganlmiranda was all the thrills for me. The beginning was a little slower than I would have liked but once I got past 20 pages I devoured it! Didn’t see the ending coming and I didn’t put two and two together at all to even figure out all the connections. This is a story about money and greed and how far a family will go in order to protect their own. A story about a friendship between two girls that lasts forever ♾ and even after one perishes. A story of a town that turns a blind eye but always keeps the other eye open. Seriously had to finish this ASAP and so glad I did!
