🌿 Well, here it is, the end of August. That means it’s time for my reading Wrap Up so brace yourselves because I apparently read a lot of books this month. 😂 - 🌿 I reread 3 books: The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Sky in the Deep and Breaking Dawn and they were all great rereading experiences! (Yes, including BD! 😆) - I also finally finished The Beast Player, which was a solid 4 stars for me. - But let me tell you, my absolute favorite book this month was The Unhoneymooners (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️). I binge read that book after the horrible slump The Astonishing Color of After put me in (⭐️⭐️) and it was exactly what I needed. - I also really enjoyed The Sun is Also a Star (4.5 stars) and Roar (3.75 stars)! - And then we have: • The Girl the Sea Gave Back (⭐️⭐️⭐️💫) • The Lonely Polar Bear (⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 5 star for the art, 1.5 for the story 😅) • Mistborn: The Secret History (⭐️⭐️⭐️) • Sadly, I also tried to read We Hunt the Flame for the #BookQueenReads but I could never get into it so I put it aside to try again later. - - Oh, and I’m still reading The Girl Who Drank The Moon, which I am hoping to finish today. - 🌿 Whew! Happy Saturday, bookworms! QOTD: What was your favorite read in August? . "The heavens grant us only one life, but through books, we live a thousand." - Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff . I managed to read a total of 12 books in August! I think that's the first time I read that many in a single month tbh, but I'm also really happy about it because I read some good books. They weren't all fantastic, there were a couple disappointing reads in the bunch, but the others ranged from entertaining to amazing. . I think my favorite read for the month is a three way tie between The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black, A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab, and Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff. In the beginning I was …rolling my eyes! There was some insta-love or attraction, some stuck up boyfriend and a female character that seemed a little bit too sweet. So I was thinking it would be a 3 stars max and already dreading writing the review.  Then I made some progress and around 45% in the book I was all “Oh but that’s good”! There are lots of secrets and some began to be unveiled. I was intrigued! The powers at play seemed much more complicated than at first glance. Past the 55% I was all “But, but….it’s great!” The whole plot was much more intricate than what it seemed and I was glad to have plenty of action, some helicopter escape, some car race (said car reminded me of the James Bond movies), some diving under falls to reach a hidden cove, some …. ♡ Hello bookish people ♡ What have you been reading this past month? I've read These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner, which was a 5 star read and mind blowing, and An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson, which was ok, but didin't really wow me. And I've also listened to Inked Armor, which was a wild ride, Losing the Field, which I think was the best in the series and the one that was the most serious, then came Until It Fades, Say You Still Love Me, Beutiful Oblivion, Fix her Up, Lick, Play and Lead, which were all heavy on the romance because that's all I've been craving at the moment, not that those mentioned above didn't have any. August #wrapup 📚⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ August started out as a great reading month, and it ended in a major slump! 🙈⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I started the month with Bird Box, which was a five star read for me. I blasted through it over two days. I absolutely couldn’t put it down! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I also loved Gretchen, The Girl in Red, and Lovely War. These were also very fast reads, and I highly recommend them!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The Poison Eaters by Holly Black is a book of short stories, some of which I really enjoyed. I especially liked the stories that involved The Folk. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon was a three star for me, but it was still entertaining. However, I felt I had to push myself to pick it up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Not pictured (because I’m still reading it 11 days later) is Tower of Dawn. I’m having the hardest time reading this book! 😭 It’s just so long for a secondary story. I think if it were about 300 pages shorter, I’d have enjoyed it much more. QOTD: Tell me your favorite and least favorite read of this month! ~ I read a lot of good books this year! The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and the Six of Crows duology were my favorite books this month. I loved the characters, I loved the relationships (especially the gay ones), and I loved the adventure, scheming, and development that the characters all went through. P.S. I Still Love You was my least favorite. The characters all seemed to act outside of the personalities established in the first book (to all the boys I’ve loved before) and the book sets up for Lara Jean to learn a couple lessons, which she just throws out the window the second Peter makes puppy dog eyes at her. Okay. I really didn’t like P.S. I Still Love you. I read five books this month. The Last House Guest was a 4 star read for me that I listened to so is not pictured. I also read The Tiny Hero of Ferny Creek Library for school about a bug who fights the bad guys who want to get rid of the school library. This month I didn’t buy any books, I know I’m shocked too... Unless you count the four deluxe journal editions of Lover that I got! lol 💗 . . As for my wrap up, let’s start with books: this month I participated in the #NewtsReadathon2019 & my goal was to read all the prompts to become an Alchemist (which meant I needed to read like 17 books)... and as of right now I have read 28! 😱 I will say that I did DNF three of those books & about four of them were some type of short story or novella, but I still can’t believe that’s how many I read this month so far (I’m almost done with one last book that I think I can finish before the end of today... so I guess I could end up reading 29 books!) 📚 . . In the beginning I was …rolling my eyes! There was some insta-love or attraction, some stuck up boyfriend and a female character that seemed a little bit too sweet. So I was thinking it would be a 3 stars max and already dreading writing the review.  Then I made some progress and around 45% in the book I was all “Oh but that’s good”! There are lots of secrets and some began to be unveiled. I was intrigued! The powers at play seemed much more complicated than at first glance. Past the 55% I was all “But, but….it’s great!” The whole plot was much more intricate than what it seemed and I was glad to have plenty of action, some helicopter escape, some car race (said car reminded me of the James Bond movies), some diving under falls to reach a hidden cove, some …. When you catch the kitten in it’s natural habitat for the first time in probably ever. 🤣🤣 Pawter was so cute I couldn’t pass up a chance for photos!! I read a lot but only legit finished one! But I’m working on finishing others I started which should be fairly easy (except for Priory. That thing is a monster). It’s my August Book Haul! ⠀ I haven’t done a #bookhaul, nor a picture featuring myself in ages! I felt like this would be a fun way to mix it up a bit. I definitely want to start doing more pictures featuring myself. ⠀ I am pretty sure there are a couple books missing from this, but I did my best to remember all of the ones I purchased or was shipped this month! I have read or listened to six of these already (some were ARCs, ebooks or audiobooks) and enjoyed each of them. Time for my August book haul! I got nine books this month: two from my birthday, two from book boxes, two from a signing, and three from the sale at B&N! I’ve already gotten to read House of Salt and Sorrows and I gave it ALL THE STARS. It was INCREDIBLE, guys! There’s seriously no other book like it! . . Also I’m a complete idiot and accidentally included Wicked Fox and Spin the Dawn in this picture even though they were actually from last month’s haul. And yes, they were included in last month’s picture. Idk what I was thinking 😂 I also left out a book, Bonnie and Clyde: the Making of a Legend! #bookreadhappyhour is making me ask myself the tough questions today with their "I'm a bookdragon because..." tag challenge. *cracks knuckles and starts humming "Let's Get Down to Business"* ... I, like all the dragons, obsessively horde all my treasures. Treasure = Books. I want all the pretties, regardless of genre or literary significance. I want all the editions, I love/hate that every one and their subscription box has an exclusive edition. I want all the things associated with my numerous fandoms; pops, candles, bookmarks, etc. I preorder new books almost daily, and I have email notifications to tell me when certain books become available on four different sites (it might be five sites 🤔). And I don't share my books very well. I have a very small list of people who are allowed to borrow my books, and if my book is returned broken I will break the guilty party. ... I will stay up all night reading a book, no matter what my responsibilities are the next day. The importance of knowing what happens next and next and next and next until the last sentence is way more important than the Doctor recommended hours of sleep. This is why coffee was invented in the first place. ... I gather reading lists and challenges the same way I collect the books listed. I pack multiple books for every trip, not matter the trip's duration or location. My bucket list is just a list of libraries and bookstores I want to visit. I plan room designs around the placement of bookshelves. I'm neurotic about yearly/monthly/weekly TBR's. "I'll add it to my TBR" is predictive text on my cellular device. ... I may be as crazy as this post makes me sound, and am perfectly okay with that. Book haul day! (But wait, that means the tear is almost 2/3 over...) We are looking at @tactical_peanut for #bookwolfAugust19 so I hadto find a pic where I could also show my book haul ( #bookstagrammerproblems )😂 Luckily Arin had this fun shot (2nd photo) which also allowed me to get Topaz in the photo. I FINALLY got my own copy of Watchers by Dean Koontz. This is my absolute favorite book of all time. I read my mom's copy, have an ebook on my phone, but wanted a real life copy (that didn't cost $47 on Amazon) of my own. In swooped Book Depository to the rescue! I love the cover, too. Good ol' UK version. We watched Mortal Engines last weekend and I found a copy of the book at Half Price Books where I sold some others. Has anyone noticed how often Ravens/ crows are featured in titles of books? Id noticed it a few times, but haven't realised how much until I'd stacked them all together. I even googled it to see what they both meant. For summary, both are usually used as guards and crows come in groups and Ravens are solitary.
